I cut mine in 1/2 then saute them in olive oil. When they are almost done I add some balsamic vinegar. Add pepper to taste if you like when serving.

Woooh, I should hit the EASY button for that. Thanks, Lago.

Joan - I do the same as lago, but toss them in a high quality mustard.
Bluesky5 is posting in the High Risk forum asking for a referal to a good Chicago doctor. I'll send her here, but one of you may want to reply there and recommend a doctor to her. Don't know if she is looking for an MO or GP.

Good recipe Lago.

Also works with broccoli but you must cut it up into smaller bunches so you can actually saute it.

I love that one Illinois Lady
Lago that sounds great. I've fried spinach with a little oil and sale (sea salt, little) pepper and red crushed pepper) and it's so good so I guess there's lots of things we don't think of making differently (veggies)

Spinach I saute in olive oil & garlic then sprinkle with fresh ground pepper. The only way I will eat spinach. I don't use salt. I now have a fluid retention problem due to Anastrozole.
Actually my PCP office called yesterday because evidently my BP went up because of fluid retention from the surgery… ah no kidding. When you fill someone with saline solution what the hell do you think will happen. I gained 3.5lbs in one day. Already lost 2.5 as of it this morning.

I enjoy reading your "veggie" recipes. I have a hard time with some of the veggies but I'm beginning to get motivated to try a few more.
Great quote today, Jackie!
I'm off to run some errands and then hit a few golf balls. The sun is out here and this weekend is supposed to be even warmer! Yea! I hope everyone has the chance to get out and enjoy the warmer temps before the chilling temps roll in!

Oh Lago I forgot of course it's with garlic hahaha And I always liked tomato salad with tuna--Now I don't like tuna but growing up my Mom would make that alot cuz my Dad always grew tomatoes. olive ol and tiny bit of win-vinigar--cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and all the seasoning---and tuna. This is sounding like a recipe thread. LOL

Momto7-Glad to hear you're home and sound like al went well. Keep on top of the pain meds, if you get behind it's hard to get on top of the pain. Hope those drains are out soon! Rest and let others take care of you.

Momto7.... welcome home and rest, rest, rest! I have a drain buddy! I only have one lingering on after a revision surgery but really hope to get rid of it next Thursday. If not, I might have some explaining to do at the airport next weekend. Could be an interesting conversation.
We are off to a live broadcast of the "Prairie Home Companion", Garrison Keillor later this afternoon at the Auditorium Theater. My DH is a big fan of his, and pretty much everything else on NPR as well. Should be a fun evening for both of us. I bought two tickets to Carrie Underwood next month at the United Center and now my DH says he would really rather not go. Huh? We do not share my love of country music but he reluctantly is my concert buddy every now and then.
Jackie... love you quote today. My thoughts exactly since being diagnosed! Have a great day everyone. Love the warmer temps, but it is dark and misting out my way. Hope the sunshine makes an appearance.

Sorry, I've been crazy busy at work. Last chemo Oct 18 was followed with work every day from Oct 20 until today. First day to not wake to an alarm clock in 22 days...and I was wide awake at 6:15!
Momto7 so glad to hear you are home resting, let everyone wait on you as you heal. Remember you can not rush healing no matter what you think, give yourself time...prayers are with you.
I started radiation last Thursday, so two days down, thirty one to go! Keeping positive and lotion ing up.
Thanks for all you sage advice on this thread.0 -
Momto7...There's no place like home. Glad the surgery is done and you're home. Everyone has given you good advice. Rest, pamper yourself, and take those pain meds! Hugs!
It looks like winter is ready to roll into our area tomorrow. I'm not ready for this, gals!

Brrr, a tad on the frosty side this a.m. Like all the crazy weather we have had......it was 72 yesterday afternoon. We knew rain was coming, but much later. Rained all night.....then fairly heavy frost this morning. Wonder if we are going to keep on having un-predictable. So, Rita, I am not ready either.
Hope you all have a fantastic day. Even if you have to bundle.
Hugs, Jackie

Good news. Rush and Aetna are back on the table negotiating. I may be able to keep my current doctors after all.
So Joan how was Garrison Keiller and the Brussel sprouts?
GraceE congratulations on finishing chemo. Hair should be sprouting in a few weeks.
Momto7 I know everyday after surgery I felt better and better. Wait till those drains are out. You'll really feel better. I truly hope you get them out as fast as I did.
Windy and cold today. Decided to do the gym instead of the walk through the park/zoo. I can handle 30° but not such strong winds.

Momto7 Take it easy--Lago is right every 24 hrs it feels better and hope those drains come out soon.
Grace onto rads--u'r getting there--let us know how u feel.
It's cold outside Ugh--I don't mind winter if it's not cold LOL

Popping in to say hello, ladies, and share some good news Last week, I was interviewed by a reporter for the Chicago Tribune. She's writing an article on chemo brain, and asked me to tell my story. Today, a photographer came and took a bunch of pictures of me to go along with the article. I'm not sure when the story will be out, but I'll post when I know.
Also, I go in for my exchange surgery tomorrow. I just got the call from the hospital telling me I'm not scheduled until 5 PM! Figures that I had to be there at 5 AM for the surgery I was terrified of (the mastectomy back in July), but this one I have to wait all day for... Sigh. I'm going to be one cranky, hungry and THIRSTY woman tomorrow!
Hope everyone is doing well. Hugs!

If you ask your surgeon if the following is ok, s/he will say "no" just because they're trained to say no to anything by mouth after midnight. However, if you have a blood sugar problem going a whole frigging day without anything to eat (and who wouldn't?) have some pixie sticks. It's just colored/flavored sugar. It won't cause aspiration problems when you're under because you swallow it with your saliva but may give you enough extra blood sugar to keep from getting headaches, crankiness, etc from eating nothing. I got this recommendation from my DH, who is a doc but not a surgeon. Good luck.
