Mom, my eyebrows stayed much thinner and underarm hair never returned at all --- of course I try not to be upset about that.  Just saying....sometimes I think you won't know what to expect since we all react somewhat differently.  Can sure hope though.  I never thought about the underarm hair so was a nice "gift" that I ended up getting to keep.

    Wishing you well.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Happy Anniversary Spunky!

BTW work is a lot of work but driving in traffic is much more work Tongue Out For 2 weeks I can handle this but I couldn't spend 2.5 hours in traffic every day.

HA - Spunky from me as well.

Lago....hmmm...I don't think I could stand driving 2 and 1/2 to work anywhere.  I know sometimes you have to do what you have to do.....but that is so much.  Hopefully it will help you on your way to something much more local.

    Hugs, Jackie

Jackie it's only 1.25 hours one way but it's traffic. It should take about 1/2 that time. Not horrible for a few weeks but I couldn't do this month after month, year after year. I rather spend that time working rather than driving. Driving requires more energy.

… but this might extend into the first week of January!

momto7... rest all you need.  My ONC nurse warned me to STAY OUT of grocery stores right after chemo treatments.  They are really "germy" places and not a good place for anyone with weakened immune systems.  Glad that you have someone to help you out.

Spunky.... congrats on your one year anniversary! Many more to come!

Six of us got together for lunch today in Wauconda.  What a great chat session again.  Thanks to LauraGTO for getting us organized.  We were joined by makmak, lemondrop, sodey, and susan3. Everyone is in different stages of this journey and it was good to share our stories and smartphone photos of families.  So sorry that we didn't take a picture to share with you here.

My spine surgeon ordered up two more months of PT!  Twice a week.  He is a real pusher for PT.  I was not happy when he told me that he was leaving Northwestern in April to take on a great opportunity in PA.  Booh!  I hate when doctors move on!  He has referred me on to another surgeon in his practice, but I will miss my him.

Everyone have a great weekend.  I am not looking forward to a rainy Saturday, but we do really need it.  So, I will just throw on my slicker and make the best of it.

momto7 the first nuelasta shot was is usually the worst. Claritin is supposed to help but be sure it's OK with your onc. I was taking Zyrtec so I couldn't do the Claritin but after the first shot the subsequent ones were so much easier. 2.5 hours of chemo… that's it! wow that's fast.

Joan I hear you about finding new doctors. But we are in a great city so there are many many good ones in Chicagoland.

I really hope it doesn't rain this tomorrow. I so need to do a power walk outside.

Yea ....  momto7....one down. Rest is your best option if you're feeling achy!

joan...I know how hard it is to change any doctor.  Hopefully you'll find a great replacement!  It's just so hard to give up the ones that we love and feel comfortable dealing with.

Glad that several of you had the chance to get together.  This is when I wish I lived closer!

I have lots to do today to get last minute things finished up.  I also need to get to the library so I'm going to get busy and get something accomplished.

I hope everyone enjoys your weekend.

Yeah Adey! Me too. My oldest came home thursday for good. He graduated a full semester early! Go Max!!! My youngest is an RA and had to stay at school until Sunday, but we are all back together and life is beautiful.

Momof7 Stay out of the stores and my onc said more importantly, stay out of the theaters. Although the Hobbit was awesome, wait till it comes out on dvd. lol. Seriously, Theaters are one of the worst places to be other than schools. I would be happy to send you the book though.......:   ) Blessings, Onward

We will have everybody home by this weekend too.  My "kids" are grown and married, etc.  After the Sandy Hook massacre, we all just want our families home where we can hug them close.

Spent part of my day at follow-ups with my ROC and my MOC where I got all good reports so far.  Since my ROC did a very thorough exam, my MOC just updated my records, chatted and ordered up blood tests.  Initial reports are all good, but he does believe in tumor marker tests and I won't get the results on those for a couple days.  Fingers crossed.

Sounds like winter is coming.  Brrrrrrr.  Our daughter-in-law (from NC) is counting on seeing her first white Christmas while she is here, so maybe she will get her wish.

Morning to all......it is bright - not gray and drizzly like yesterday so I am in a very up mood once again.  I'm very much into loving families as of late since I get to have my dd and sil under my roof.  Something I always thought of as wonderful, but never believed it could or would happen.  JMHO but I think we should cherish everyone for the most part -- not just family.  Hard to think about right now since I'm deep into learning the family togetherness I've missed for such a long time.  It is going to be X-mas for a long time to me this yr.

Hope you all have a fantastic day with lots of sun.

    Hugs, Jackie

Jackie, so happy for you.  Family is good....just good!  Enjoy

We spent Saturday with my daughter who lives in Chicago.  We then all went to Zoo Lights (Lincoln Park Zoo)  with my other daughter and her family. Being with family and my grandchildren at zoo lights was like a miraculous event.   The gorillas were sleeping, the lions and tigers were sleeping and there was so little action among the monkeys (how we humans love for them to perform for us)!  I expressed my disappointment that all were asleep and my five year old grandchild told me all the action was outside with the LIGHTS.  From a child....and at at 64 I had nearly forgotten how beautiful the lights can be.

I am hoping all are doing well with treatments. Lago, hope you love the job.  That commute is awful and I am having trouble figuring out your route.  Where is the biggest problem (your home to Edens or Edens to Dundee West) and when are you traveling time-wise?  I go east-bound on Edens around 7:30 am and encounter zip problems. Perhaps the westbound is a probelm but before my exit which is in Wilmette.

    Take care,

    Susan

Zap the problem is before east Dundee on the way in. Problem on the way home varies when it starts but yesterday it was stop and go till the California exit (just before the Fullerton). It's 1.25 hours both ways. Will be interesting in the snow. I may show up at your door on Thursday if we get a big storm and I get stuck (kidding). Job is fine. Might even go for another 2-4 weeks. Too far of a commute to do year after year but for now it's fine. I've been taking Fullerton to the Edens and that hasn't been bad at all but I'm sure that will change if there is snow. I know other ways if that's a problem though.

I'm going in late today so no traffic on the way in. We are still waiting for updated copy on the 100 page document I'm working on. I think they are running out of other stuff to give me. Next week I might be the only designer in though.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

Jackie....loved your quote today!  That is SO true. Some of my facebook friends posted everyday for the month of November, telling something they were thankful for in their lives.  At first I thought I'd have a hard time coming up with that many different things but I was amazed at all the things that I'm blessed with.  It was a fun activity...very eye-opening and uplifting.

Lago, I don't think I could do your commute in traffic.  For 33 years I drove 50 miles one way to work but my commute was over state highways and was much more leisurely and less stressful. In fact, there were times on my way home that I loved the drive.  It gave me time to regroup and transition from school to home.  Traffic like you experience....no way I would handle that!  Glad that you are enjoying your job, though!

I have been busy with holiday gatherings and have lunch plans today with a dear friend so I need to get some things done around here.

I hope that everybody in treatment is coping well and that everyone is surviving this hectic, but wonderful, holiday season.   It looks like some snow is headed our way.  I'm not as excited about that as some of you will be!

I did a 50 mile (100 miles round trip) commute before but it was from central Massachuesetts to western MA… and I was a game designer for Milton Bradley. Best job I ever had and the commuter, although long was pretty… and only 1 hour unless there was snow. It was very pretty! I took the back route because it was the same amount of time. Got to say "hello" to the cows in Palmer, MA. Saw lots of deer, owls, etc too.
