Good morning...so sorry about the deletion this morning.  Some days I get the strange marks and have to go back and copy and past into an email ( that I don't send anywhere of course ) and copy and paste again from that.  A pain, but it is so much neater to read when you don't have to look through the strange marks.

Sunny and bright here.....people all over have so much water.  From the sound ( at least here ) we will have a really wet April, but then for the most part that more back to the range of what was once normal for us.  Ok....so onward.  Our rain won't be for a couple more days so will have some dry-out time.

I'm over on the next page so wishing you all well whether your in tests, or txs, or just hanging in there.

    Peace and love,

    Jackie

Can anyone in Dupage County recommend an acupuncturist with BC experience in their practice? I am hoping to get some ongoing pain and Tamoxifen ses under control and would love a personal recommendation vs. finding in the phone book. Thanks!

    Hi Leah,

I see a wonderful Chinese MD, Dr Zhu, who was recommended to me by a BC survivor.  She practices in Arlington Heights (First health Associates) and Willowbrook (Healthsoure) and has a lot of experience with cancer patients.  I am certain she is a big part of the reason I made it through chemo with no real side effects.  She is now helping me detox and address any issues through radiation.  I know it may be a bit farther out for you but I see her on Saturdays and its well worth the trip.  She is very knowledgable and insightful.  I hope you find some relief!

Hi IL Ladies!  It's "that time of year" for me now (crazy!) but just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm thinking about you all!  Welcome to our new-comers!!!  I am sorry that you have to be here but I  assure you that you have come to a wonderful place full of support, kindness, knowledge and experience!

Love the daily affirmations (quotes) Jackie and I thank you for sharing those with us!

I am so sorry to those who struggled from the rain having to "bail-out" their basements.  I hope the water has receded and that peace has returned to your abode.

I am so grateful for all of the "green" that I see as a result of the rain.  And by the way, have you heard..., the drought is over?!?!  Smile  (sorry if it was already said but I can't help but giggle each time I say it or hear it!!)

Here's to the sunshine this week ladies!  (forget the rain tomorrow.., just focus on the sunshine!)  Laughing

Leah - I attend the breast cancer networking group at LWC on the 3rd Monday of each month.  THe nurse navigator needed some survivors that were done with treatment to attend to offer that perspective to those going through treatment.  We can meet up sometime.  PM me and let me know what works for you.  Days are generally better for me while my son is in school but I can manage some evenings.

You cannot fail at being yourself.  A cat doesn't try to be a tiger, and you shouldn't try to be something you aren't. You are a process, not a product.  Your job is to discover what you are and create that creature.  You still won't be perfect, but success isn't about perfection--it is about authenticity.  You are a success if you are being your real, authentic self.

Saying good morning to everyone.....going to rain here soon.  We are going to pay for the beautiful warm weather we have had for a couple of days now.  So nice to come home from work with the door open and the deck umbrella up.

Hope you all have a marvelous day.

    Peace and love,

    Jackie

Hope49. Thanks for the recommendation. I also received a PM from another gal for a Dr. In Naperville. That is really close for me, she also happens to be a nurse and an herbalist which is right up my alley! I was able to get an appt for Friday! So glad to hear that acupuncture has been a beneficial aide for so many BC issues. I am soooo believing that it is going to help me get thru till my TE exchange!

    Blessings,

How is the BC networking group different from the BC support group?

I am not sure Leah.....Who facilitates the support group?   The nurse navigator from Delnor runs the networking group.   It is not a led discussion at all - we just all talk and ask quetions and people share experiences.    Does a counselor lead the support group?   I got your PM.   Give me a call....

You are a child of the universe, “fearfully and wonderfully made.” In the history of creation, there has never been anyone like you. Accept this reality about yourself—that you are a special, unique human being who has a place on this earth that no one else can fill. Acknowledge yourself as a glorious expression of your loving Creator. This healthy self-love will form the foundation of a joyful and satisfying life. Then, as you love and accept yourself, your inner light will shine outward to bless and heal your fellow human beings. Douglas Bloch

Mdg it is a mastectomy support group led by a gal who is about 7 yrs out from her diagnosis. It is also mostly open forum, sharing of experiences and asking q's. every so often they schedule a special speaker. Tonight there is a yoga instructor who is a BC warrior coming to talk about lymphodema, and show us poses to help alleviate it.

    Short but to the point:

Praying that you have a smooth appointment tomorrow Catey ... Take your time. If you need him to repeat anything, don't hesitate to ask. Take someone with you. A second set of ears is invaluable!

Hi - I was just diagnosed, and posted a question in that forum, and was told about this thread of wonderful folks from IL.

I have had mams, ultra sound, MRI and know of 3 lumps in both breasts, and a suspicious lymph node in one breast.  So, not expecting great news at my first appt with a surgeon.

I just had a couple of questions for you in the Chicagoland area:  1) did you get a second opinion on both the surgical option and the treatment?  and 2) who is an oncologist you would recommend - preferably in the NW burbs, but I guess would hike it into the city if that is the best option.

Thank you so much in advance.  Not looking forward to today :0(

So many brilliant and gifted people squander their gifts because they lack the humility of self-understanding. When we think we know it all, we miss the point. When we think we know everything about ourselves, we show our ignorance and our arrogance. The wonder of human beings is that we are constructed in such a way that we can spend our entire lives exploring our inner universe and its connection to the universe as a whole and still barely scratch the surface.    We are a wonder for us to behold. BoatinGirl, welcome to the IllinoisLadies.  Others will come along ( I don't live very close to your area ) and help you with your questions.....This is just to say glad you found us here.

So sorry for the marks.  I hate then they appear.  They don't every time and I often forget to copy and past into an email first.

Spring is out in full regalia here.  Seems like I've waited forever.....I'm so happy to see that vibrant living green.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

    Peace and love,

    Jackie

Thank you so much for replying.  I was looking at a doc from there named Bitran.

I am in the Northern Suburbs and went to Dr. Yao (female surgeon in Evanston and Highland Park) and Dr. Leon Dragon (oncologist in Highland Park).  Both may have offices in Glenbrook Hospital, Evanston and Highland Park.  They got me well!

Good luck and stay in touch.

In good hands! Absolutely :0) Numerous times when I was in for a procedure or treatment or test, the tech, nurse, radiologist, etc would ask about my other docs. When I would tell them, I heard this over and over "You have the A Team!"

Bitran is well-respected and a great doc. I actually saw him in February for a 3 mos. visit, as Dr. Kaiser was on a health leave. He treated me like I'd always been his patient. My chemo nurse, Abbie, rocked!

Boatingirl I'll answer your other question, it looks as if you have enough northwest references that you don't need anything from Chicago.  Yes, get two surgical opinions.  Good surgeons can accurately tell you what the likely radiation or chemo follow-on treatment would be after surgery or without surgery and the risks/rewards of having and not having surgery.  Yes, get two oncologist opinions.  If you choose not to have surgery, then, obviously, right after making that decision.  If you choose to have surgery, then right after you get the pathology reports from the surgery (5-7 days for everything).

    Good luck.
