I feel like I've been away for years...work is so busy I'm rarely home, and I had a big test on Saturday so when I wasn't working I was consumed with studying. I passed though, so I'm back.
Peki-can't believe your luck, hope you're on the mend.
Adey-woot! What a great reunion.
Mdg-I'm in for lunch, like lago weekend would work better since I'm on the road.
Kj-I'll be in Peoria next Wednesday night, perhaps we can meet for coffee-
I walked in the wellness house walk in hinsdale on Sunday and 5 of my high school friends from Wisconsin came down to surprise me and join the walk. While we were at the walk my dd and her bf were at my house preparing brunch for us. What a fantastic weekend filled with wonderful surprises.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this beautiful weather.

I'm late today with the quote. Had to get up early and go to Mt. Vernon....about 23 miles from here for a blood test. Have a PCP appt. on the 13th. and they want numbers. But...I feel like everything will be just fine. Looked for a quote but never found exactly what I wanted......
Spunky.....oh my, your week-end sounds like it was so joyful. Just like they should be. Good for you !!
I hope you all had a wonderful week-end with a good positive start to your week.
Peace and love,
Jackie

I can't believe this is so quiet here--what's happening in Illinois that's so exciting for everyone that is not happening where I live, oh I know It's happening where I'm not.
Oh I'm glad u'r all busy with good days happening.Keep it up and enjoy.

Spring, finally! No one is home keystroking on their computers.

Unfortunately, all is not beauty and peace. I don't believe I've ever met
a person who hasn't been challenged or wounded by something. Difficulties
present choices: we can either waste away from our wounds or use them
to grow our souls. My husband, for example, is a survivor of the Second
World War. As a child, he suffered through six years of bombings, near-
escapes, and concentration camps. Part of his soul work has been the
gradual transformation of this deep well of grief and pain. As he heals
himself, he also participates in healing that terrible idea of war in others.
I have always said that no one heals alone--we heal through and for one another.

Congratulations on finally getting a date. Everything at the begining is hurry up and wait.

Thanks Lago, now its hurry up and get prepared!

You are so lucky to have caught it so early. You will be surprised by how easy it will be. Good luck!

You will feel so much better once surgery is over. It will be here before you know it.

cateyz2 we all cleaned house before surgery. I didn't get to everything but guess what… It was still there when I was healthy enough to deal with it. I was glad I did get to all the floors and laundry though.

Catey, so happy you have a date. I forget where you live. Where will the surgery be? I had a lumpectomy and it was easy. Unfortunately I lost the nipple but I am older and nipples just seems to not mean so much any more (although I certainly appreciated having one and wouldn't mind having it back )
It is so great you caught it so early.
I have a nice story about a former student's husband. He had cancer that caused his leg to be amputated and cut at the hip so no prosthesis (I wonder if I have that word right). He uses a crutch. He had his surgeries at Boston Mass and they have called him to meet with some of the marathon runners who lost lower limbs. I am so proud of him. He has become a teacher and I bet a darn good one! I found this so uplifting and I hope that it does the same for so many of you. Step up and forward is my motto after hearing about him. He has two children (they froze his sperm before the surgeries as the chemo could harm it). He has just carried on since this all fell on him at the age of 25 and newly married.!
Gives me good shivers!

Hello everyone! It seems like forever since I've been on this site. It's been quite busy around here. I've been attempting to get the yard in shape between rain showers and am on several golf planning committees so I've been going so much during the day that I just collapse at night.
Karen, have your kleenex with you when do the Peoria Walk. That survivors' walk always gets to me. I am not walking in the walk this year. I used to walk every year with my friend Mary Jane, who posted a little several years ago. Lately I've been contributing to the cause by doing the Golf 4 the Cures. Mary Jane is still walking this year, though. I hope the weather is good for you that day!
Thanks to all of you who have earned funds by walking, running, or golfing in cancer research events. Every contribution helps!
Susan, so glad you had a great time in California. I went out several years ago to visit my son who was working in LA and living in Burbank. We drove up the coast a little but never made it to San Fran. It was an interesting trip. Like you, I've fallen in love with lots of different cities and places over the years. I think C-Squared needs to tell us a little more about her experience in the "Woods!"
I still need to go back and read some of the posts from the past few weeks and get caught up. In the meantime, hello to all of you and I hope everyone is doing well!

Rita~ So good to hear from you! I got a "giggle" from your inquiry about my experience in the "woods". Let's just say I "went off the trail"! I wasn't supposed to and there were signs posted everywhere.., but I'm an "explorer" and I went off the trail. I truly believe it was "divine intervention" that guided me back! To this day I have NO IDEA how I found my way back other than to credit a much higher power! I had no compass, I ran out of water, I was off-trail, I was SO scared yet somehow I returned! And I have very fond memories of Muir Woods. But I do NOT recommend straying from the trail !!!
It is an incrediby busy time of year for me at school and I, too, have been neglecting the board(s) as a result. I hope the IL ladies are well and I look forward to catching up soon! The last day fo school is June 6th and while I cherish the prospect of the end.., I also mourn the loss of the day-to-day interactions with some of the most wonderful kids I know!!! We'll all be back in the fall and it's just so amazing how much they grow over the summer break!!

Hello ladies ... There are 4 of us from Canada that will be in Chicago from July 15 to 18. Maybe we can make a date for a drink or dinner while we are there.
Joanne0 -
Looking for possible docs in the Downer's/Glen Ellyn area. Will need a gynecologist and a breast oncologist to do future followups. Moving from dowtown outward to suburbs. Willing to drive for one of those really special docs.

Joanne_53,
I'm up for a little dinner/drink get together with our Canadian sisters. Where are you planning to stay in Chicago and what is a good day and time? I lived in Ottawa two years, some time ago.

Hi Canadian gals! I am in the far suburbs so I probably can't meet up... You will have a great time in the city! There are several gals here that live closer to the city that may be interested in meeting up! Enjoy your visit!

Count me in for the Canadian BCOers in Chicago meet up. Dinner would probably be best (or a drink) as my schedule can change during the day. I'm a freelancer so I never know when I will have to work on-site. What type of food do you guys like? We have lots of ethnic places. Depending on where you are staying I'm sure we can figure out a good place to eat. Doxie & I know the city fairly well.

It takes a strong person to deal with tough times and difficult choices. But you are a strong person. It takes courage. But you possess the inner courage to see you through. It takes being an active participant in your life. But you are in the driver’s seat, and you can determine the direction you want tomorrow to go in . . . . Don’t be afraid to feel like the morning sun is shining. . . just for you. Collin McCarty

I deleted my post....it was the quote....trying to get it in without all the funny marks. Trying again here and I'll leave it....because it is so good...but sure hope we are markless.

Good morning Canada.....hopefully you will hear from a number of gals who might be able to meet up with you...I'm way too far away from Chicago..about 4 hrs. south...but it is a great bunch of gals here. They try to meet up when they can.....and this will be a 'great' excuse if they haven't managed for a bit.
C-squared....big quite firm believer. I believe in the inner self.
kcshreve....hopefully someone will have an answer for you. I'm too far out, but the ladies here all seemed to have chosen wonderful Dr.'s to connect with and I bet one of them will be just right for you too.
A big hi to Rita.
Peace and love,
Jackie

Hi there Doxie, lago and spunkieboobster.... It would be great so will keep posting. We are there from July 15 to 18 and staying at the Hampton Inn in the theatre district ( don't ask because I have no clue ) .... As we get closer we can get more details. Dinner would be great.

Joanne that's right downtown in the loop (22 West Monroe St). Great location and close to public transportation if you didn't want to walk. You're close to a lot of stuff. I live about 3.5 miles away. Easy bus or train ride for me.

The 4 of us that are coming have not met each other yet ... Well 2 of us have ... Me and Scottiee from Toronto. When we said we were coming that shianne hooked up and then Tazzy. Tazzy is flying from British Columbia (above Seattle) to go with us. This will be lots of fun. I will post more later. The other ladies are looking forward to meeting you.

Here's hoping no strange marks:
Passion doesn't come from business or books or even a connection with another person. It is a connection to your own life force, the world around you and the spirit that connects us all. You are the source. Books, work, music, people, sunsets all provide sparks, but only you can light the fire.
