Breast cancer was not on my wishlist for my birthday, however as Im about a week and a half post surgery, I have to say I woke up today after having my first full nights sleep and Im feeling pretty good. No pain medication since about 10pm last night and the pain and discomfort is doable, hopefully things stay that way so I can start driving again. I hate being trapped at home

Catey,......as long as we keep having those birthdays.

Glad you are starting to get there.....where you can get out and do something.  Being stuck at home is only ok if you don't have to be there.

    Peace and love

Here's something to chuckle about ladies:  I called Walgreens to ask about passport photo and here are the rules: (1) Cannot wear white,  (2) Cannot wear jewelry, & (3) Style hair so that ears can be seen.  REALLY?  You have to see my ears becauauauausse WHY???    My, how the times have changed since my first passport -LOLOL!  Laughing

Jackie~ Isn't EVERYday a birthday now?!?!  I carry a b-day cake charm in my Oragami Owl necklace for just that reason!   (Tried & tried to insert a pic but failed again.., Can someone help me?!?!) Cry

Hang in there Cami.., were experts at the storms now! Wink

Hope the silence on the board means that all are well (& keeping busy).  Hang in there cateyz2!  If you want, I can come and get you out of the house! I have a very flexible schedule for the nest couple of weeks.., no work.., no vacations (yet). Smile

Aha!  There.., I did it!  Although I tried (again) to make it smaller.  Anyway, that's the charm I wear with the birthday cake ('cause everyday is a birthday); the 4-leaf clover ('cause I'm Irish- said with a brogue); and the pink ribbon (we all know why!).  The large plate says "survivor"; the small plate says "faith" (even though it's turned upside down) and the tag says "hope" and that just about  says it all!!!  Laughing

    C-squared,

My passport photo definitely shows my ears - I was through 3 treatments of AC when I got it taken last year :0) I actually love that photo!

Yes - time flies. My last weekly taxol was 7/11/12. And I'm a huge Slurpee fan so it's fitting to have 7-11 be my final chemo anniversary :-)

Just checking in to see what's happening. Seems like good news all around. I hate to spoil it it, but I was admitted to the hospital late last night after going to the ER with areal good flare up of cellulitis in my lymphedemic arm. Stuck here for at least a couple more days, probably through the weekend. Just hanging out waiting for my next IV antibiotic infusion every 12 hours. The ER doc thought it could have been caused by my dental cleaning yesterday afternoon. My ONC stopped by and says I need to start taking oral antibiotics before any future dental appointments. Always something.

Hope the storms were not too bad tonight. I am feeling kind of isolated from the outside world... Stuck in a hospital. They let me get dresses and I am working from my hospital room. Tomorrow I think I will ask my nurse to let me outside for a walk.

    Joan,

So sorry that you had to be hospitalized again. You have been through so much and it just keeps hitting you.

Hope that the weather clears up and that they will let you out a bit.

Prayers for a speedy full recovery.

Oh Joan I'm so sorry--u didn't know about when u see a dentist? I'm surpeised he didn't put u on them first--we (my family) all have to take them like a week before and a week after for everything. Oh I wondered why, maybe that's one reasons. Oh u poor thing--One time I went to the DD and when I did my history he wouldn't work on me t all. I had to go somewhere else and take antibiotics first. ???I didn't really ask why just did it. Be well Joan. AWWW

OMGosh Joan!!!  Ugh!  Seems like you can't get a break lately and yet you seem to maintain such a GREAT attitude!!! You are truly an inspiration to me to put things in perspective and take it one day at a time.  Baby steps!

I don't know where you're at but do they have a lymphedema therapist on staff?  If so, I hope the MD has ordered a visit by him/her.  From what I recall, MLD is contraindicated during active infection but compression bandaging may be helpful(?) to relieve some of the pressure.

If you're still there on Friday, I'd be happy to come and take you for a walk outside!  If I remember correctly, you live in Crystal Lake and I'm guessing you're at Good Shepherd or Centegra, if you're local.  Heck, even if you're downtown I can come and take you for a walk!  It's my turn to pay back & forward all the good that was given to me last year.  Please let me know where to find you and I will be happy to get you outside! Laughing

    joan888,

Wow I didn't know that could happen!  I'm on dental alert because of zometa.  What? we need to wear a dental alert chain around our necks for LE, too?

Working while in the hospital?  Yep, can tell you are self employed.  Hopefully you will not have to stay too long.

Joan Hoping those antibiotics kick in fast and you have speedy recovery. I actually had gone to the dentist about a week before my BMX for a cleaning and cavity and in conversation with dental assistant before starting mention my upcoming surgery then dentist came in and said that no work can be done unless on antibiotics that I may want to reschedule my surgery and get dental work done first. I said noo surgery is first, getting cancer out of my body. Hope I didnt make a mistake and now have chance of infection reaction due to cavity/gum disease???

OMG Joan that damn cellulitis won't leave you alone. Not sure what working on your teeth has to do with your arm… but if they say that's what it's from Tongue Out

Doxie if it were up to my LE MD he'd have me wearing a medical alert bracelet for LE. Granted so far I haven't had a cellulitis issue, knock on wood but who knows. Give me another 10 years and I could.

Joan I think cellulitis is linked to more than cancer so anyone can get it, but in u'r case it probably would hit u in a vulnerable spot and at this point this is u'rs. Hopefully u'll be home ASAP and now u know next time. Heal quickly.
