KJ it's always nice to hear from u and if u haven't been on much it just means u'r busy and feeling good--and that's the whole idea.

Have zi missed something---have we heard from ADEy and how she is doing> It's been enough time I think--she usually keeps up with progress. Adey (((HUGS)))

Adey texted me a brief message. Couldn't chat because I was at work but she did sound like the Adey we all know and love.

People who soar are those who refuse to sit back, sigh and wish things would change.  They neither complain of their lot nor passively dream of some distant ship coming in.  Rather, they visualize in their minds that they are not quitters; they will not allow life’s circumstances to push them down and hold them under. Hi all -

thanks for the warm thoughts & good wishes. Surgery went very well; no surprises were found, preliminary on nodes looks good & nipple-sparing was successful. I have not been able to tolerate the morphine (last night was not pleasant) so I have backed down to Toradol which means more pain but the nausea is subsiding. Chest is very tight (C, I love the mantra & definitely need to heed it!) but the toe feels great & ankle cast is a bit uncomfortable. Will probably be going home tomorrow & hope my lap dog cooperates.

    Congrats on the news CateyZ!!

I did it!....All went well, that was A/C chemo #3...and the port flipped again,...the surgeon was in the building and came down and flipped it.   We shall see how it goes, he might need to go in here and stich it a bit, it isn't stiched.  And i am the only patient that this has happened to of, his

    nuelasta tomorrow.

i got benadryl pre-drip, 2 anti-nausea , steroids, then the a/c.....but it went ok, finally!

stopped at Portillo's for a beef sandwich ont he way home!

midwest~cateyz~2n_jenn~  Great news all the way around!  So glad to hear it!!!  Hang in there ladies.., it'll all be a distant memory soon enough!  This time last year I was just preparing for my BMX (but I had my treatment "backwards".., neoadjuvant chemo followed by surgery <my choice>) and sometimes I read posts on the boards and say to myself.., "oh yeah, that's right".  When we're IN IT we never think we'll forget it but trust me you will.., and it's OKAY!!!  Laughing

Getting ready (HA!) for the last day of school tomorrow.  Some may think it's "easy" but let me tell you how sore I am from working all day and packing up all night!  Can you imagine packing up your office EVERY year only to return and unpack again EVERY year?  These are the NON-perks of working in the educational system.  While some may think we "have it easy".., trust me when I tell you that it's NOT EASY at all!!!

But off of (one of) my soap-box(es).., I look forward to seeing the sunshine up here in the northern suburbs again soon.  So glad to hear it was sunny down south and I'm guessing that's why we haven't heard from our southern sistas.., out on the golf course!  Yay for you!!!  Smile

CateyZ - Surgery was at Good Shepherd in Barrington. I could be mistaken but I think you said you had dr Kinney so I am guessing you weren't here.

I think my dog will actually be ok, it was as if he knew when I had my lumpectomy and really was very careful.

    Jenn -

So glad your surgery went well. Sorry about the pain med intolerance. Hopefully that gets straightened out soon.

    Midwest -

Yay. Glad the chemo went smoother today meds wise. That port of yours flipping is something else. Glad surgeon was there to 'right' it

Just got the call from surgeon...nothing hiding in right breast, nodes were good & only DCIS in left (which appears to have all been removed during the stereotactic biopsy). Now just positive thoughts for quick recovery, which I am now doing from home!

Sorry about the drains CateyZ, maybe we'll run into each other next week when I go to see if I can get mine removed. Were you still draining a lot?

    Hi Mt.Vernon!

Is that the lovely town, we stopped at the Cracker Barrel, on the way to Carbondale, to my sons college?

Got my chemo, with no drama in the port, except for the surgeon had to comedownstairs and flip it again.  It's never happened to his patients...He is always thre on Wednesdays when i go for labwork.  or chemo...Does everyone get labwork, wkly when getting chemo?

I asked, they said they watch labs, electrolytes look ok, then don't need hydration IV.

Got my Nuelasta shot today, and went to trader joes, and sams club, and shopped my DH out, till he dropped!..who got the chemo yesterday?..oh well..stocked up on food, and no doc appts till Wednesday, yippee

I  lost my terrier mix , only female i had, last year, around Mothers Day. Daughter put up a sweet, One True Media, of her, at holiday gatherings, with pics of her....and sent it to me, best present, the memories

I iherited my sons black  LAB at 9 months, because he shouldn't have had this puppy in college...And fell in luv with the big slobber face, the most affectionate dog i ever had.  He is 13, is on low thyroid pills, needs knee replacements, it will be hard, i know Labs don't live as long as the terrier, age 16

then i inherited my daughters pommy/chichuhua mix, he is a lot of fun, he is getting old too, age 10?....and   it's tru you can tell them all your probs, and they just give you love back....will put up a avatar pic of one of the hounds this wknd

the drains?...i got to read on this site about it, i got something like cellulitis, under the breast, hot, red, swollen, was on keflex for 2 weeks, delayed in chemo

then they pulled the drains, under arm, they were leaking royally, and it was the lymph node fluid coming out of the openeing of the hole, were tube was put in, stich was still in there....i was loaded with that fluid...I asked because   i have RA/Lupus...big time numbers in 12/2012 on the lupus, and been told i have no organ involvement, or facial rash......

lymph node is a organ!...anyway on plaquenil med for lupus now, it helps

If i seem positive, it's the cymbalta, 60mg i take in the morning, also good for rheumatoid (RA) pain...The day they made me go in ambulance to closest hospital, anaphylactic shock...and i said in the morn, the only med i need is my Cymbalta, i started crying, i want to go home, hate hospitals, been in them too many times, joint replacements..etc...and i take it, i stop crying...LOL.....good med for me, but expensive

the one day they tried to do hydration iv on me....passed out 5 min into it...hives throat closes and all......my WBC was a 1......this was a week after my first chemo....so no hydration iv's needed since....ROFLMAO

they do blood work stat every wednesday

    WARNING...U GOT A LIVE ONE HERE, LADIES!..ROFLMAO

    Hi Midwest!

It probably was where you stopped  to eat. My chemo was every 2 weeks and yes i had to have blood work done to make sure my white cells were up to par i also took a shot after the chemo it made me hurt so bad that i could not get out of bed it is suppose  to build the white cells up  I can't remember the name of it Ugh!!  I do believe it was the nuelasta   shot  I also have a port and want it out my MO said she would tell my surgeon so we will see I am going for reconstruction  sometime this summer have not got a set date yet .  I  have a pom his name is toby and he is so spoiled it is not funny
