Sorry I've been a bit MIA. Been busy with day job and some freelance in the evening. (Need to get to bed soon). Not sure I told you folks but I got a 6 month temp job through Manpower… working for ACS and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Chicago. I'm still a volunteer as well… and team captain for our team: Illinois Ladies. I will be post more info soon. Just an FYI there is a Kick off breakfast August 15th at Macy's. Great way to find out more details about the event… and of course I will be there.

cateyz2 That's an awesome path report!  Stinks about the drains

midwestdoglover sounds like chemo went well except for the flippin' port. You have a jumping bean in there or something?

2ns_Jenn I hate those drugs too. Hope you're feeling a bit better today. Sounds like things are going well for you too.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to not write to anyone else, but then I forgot who said what---which is not unusual for me--but I do read everyone and always think about what is said.

    Cami, me too!....Hi everyone!

Mom to 7.....yea it is nuelasta shot i got yesterday.  It hits me for the wknd, the chemo....I got nystatin mouth stuff i swish and swallow, and 2 anti-nausea meds....and chemo dry mouth is bad, i got biotene OTC mouth gel

my WBC was a 1 the day i passed out from the hydration IV ( week after first chemo)...it was a 11  wednesday, prob cause i am taking prednisone for RA.

Still trying to catch up on sleep, from the pre-drip IV of steroids....Doc gave me lorazepam, a sedative, i only take the night of chemo. I got to have the steroids so i don't have an allergic reaction, when they use the port, again.....but i finally took melatonin thursday at 5am, and got to sleep 3 hours, till i hear lawnmowers.....so it's catch up on sleep wknd

I did have a allergic reaction to a Rheumatoid arthitritis infusion, remicade, the pre-drips i needed also. so much for getting tethered to pole

TGIF to all!...these darn birds outside, do they sleep?...at 3AM , they are chirping away, and now too, DH and the Lab still sleeping

Hard to pick since I see so many wonderful quotes every day but usually....if there are any Tolle quotes they tend to jump out at me.

You are not separate from the whole.  You are one with the sun, the earth, the air.  You don't have a life ~~~you are life.        Eckart Tolle

Midwest and anyone else getting Nuelasta shots....unless there is some reason why you can't....if I recall correctly... a lot of the gals here took Claritin before their Nuelasta shots and avoided the pain aspect of them.  I hope someone will jump in with that info.

I'm not reliable with the info as I had the older Neupogin injections which have to be taken for 7 days.  Had to take fast-acting Tylenol about 15 mins. before to avoid head and muscle aches.  I gave myself the injections though so made things convenient in that way.

Lago...geez, I hope you have time to eat.  You sound so busy, but when you are doing something you care about it is not a chore and you don't feel 'usually' a lot of overwhelm.  Here's to you and a smooth path with not too much stress.

    Peace and love

I had neulasta.  THe first one I took nothing and suffered.  THe following times I took the Claritin the day of the shot and for a few days after along with aleve and it did not bother me as much at all. The claritin worked well for me.

Cami~ I'm not a teacher but an OT working with special needs kids in the schools.  Glad to hear your appreciation for the teachers.  Unfortunately, he "teachers have it easy" stigma still exists.

lago~what a great opportunity!  Perhaps it will develop into something permanent.., like Jackie said -"do what you love and you'll never have to work."

cateyz~ Great pic.., good ole' summer sunshine!  Sorry about the drains!  I know what you mean but it baffles me how different surgeons have different protocols.  While my drains were a "PITA", I was allowed to shower! Smile  Hang in there!

midwest~ such a strange phenomenon!!!  Do they have any clue what is causing the port to flip?  Can it be "tacked"-down?

    Hi all~ Happy, sunny weekend!!!

    Catey -

I actually grew up in Valparaiso, IN and moved to the NW suburbs (Schaumburg & Palatine) in the mid 80's then moved to FRG 9 yrs ago. I used to think the world ended in Barrington & said there is no way I would live in McHenry county but have absolutely fallen in love with it. We back up to a conservency so there is no one behind us - it is my little bird sanctuary and the neighborhood is awesome.

My 1st appt with Madry is not until thurs afternoon so I'm guessing I won't see you next week. Good luck with those drains!

My left side is very painful (I can barely move my arm - it feels like my chest is ripping apart) & is draining much more than the right. I am thinking this is in part due to the previous radiation on that side. I hope it subsides soon.

I hope you all enjoy what looks like is going to be a beautiful weekend!

Good morning! Certainly has been a quiet bunch lately.

I was discharged from the hospital with a lovely compression "tube top" but no instructions about how long I needed to leave it on. It itches & is really starting to hurt. Additionally, it is really starting to form my foobs into some really odd shapes - the right isn't too bad but looks like a rounded pancake but the left is awful & looks like a fallen soufflé. Does anyone know how long I am supposed to leave this thing on for?

Good morning Jenn, I too had the floral tube top, reminded me of the ones we wore in the early 80's LOL.

As we both have Madry as PS, I can only assume that what I was told by Dr. Kinney (BS) or Madry, cant remember which one due to pain med brain I was told I didnt have to continue wearing it that I could wear a camisole. Ive been wearing the stretchy lycra ones that do have some compression to them and they are quite comfy.

On another note: I dont remember if we discussed before or not but curious what type of TEs/implants Madry is using for you.

    I have the allergan 133FX 550cc, Im 5'4" 135lb and 34" ribcage.

Alot of the odd shape is probably due to swelling as my surgery was 5/31 and had same issue but now that some time as passed, swelling and fluid drainage is down starting to take some shape.

I had a Nipple skin sparring BMX, how about you?

So thankfull that I have found a fellow sister whos using the same PS and that is so close to same timeframe in this journey.

Jenn my PS didn't have me wear a compression tube top but most do. I would assume you will be seeing someone within the next week for follow up. My surgery was on a Tuesday, went home Thursday. Saw my PSs nurse the following Monday.

Hello! I have met a few of you before on different boards. Lago will vouch for me! LOL I live in Wisconsin and I am inviting anyone who would.like to meet up in Wisconsin with some of the Wisconsin people to a camp out. Second weekend of August. Pm me for details if you are interested. Campout will be at the family farm near Stevens Point. Hope some of you can make it. Much love!

Moonflower~ Thanks so much for including us (the IL Ladies) to the camp-out in Stevens Point, WI!  Sounds like a good time but I, personally, hope to bein Italy at that time!

I'm probably the furthest North of the Il Ladies, in Gurnee, IL.., home of Six Flags Geat America.  If I had the right map it looks like Port Wahsington is on the Eastern edge of WI only about an hour & 1/4 North-east of Gurnee.  Let me know if you ever get down here or if you'd be inteested in meeting "in the middle" sometime.  Though I have a somewhat busy summer planned, I work on a school schedule, so am off at the same time.  I'd be happy to meet up with you! Smile

Thx Lago! Lol Csquared, I'd rather be in Italy too! Yes, Port is only about an hour and a half to Gurnee, except that they are working on the roads so it takes a bit longer. I would love to get together with you guys sometime, near Gurnee or Kenosha, etc. But, if you head.up this way, Cedarburg is a neat place to explore too, and its just down the road.

Welcome Moonflwr and thanks for the camping invite.  I must admit that I am no longer a camper.... that would be Red Roof without a pool!  Both of our grown kids love to camp though.  Cedarburg is a great little place for a gathering.  I live close to the WI border, but by Lake Geneva.

Sounds like things are moving along well for both 2ns Jenn and cateyz.  Yeah.  My PS sent me home in a special cami with drain pockets, but I soon switched to a cami with enough tummy compression to keep my drains tucked in.  My surgeon is one that insists on showering 24 hours after surgery.  I even got to shower in the hospital the morning after my surgery.  I know they all have their own protocol though.

C-squared.... enjoy your summer off from work.  It will go fast, I am sure.  I am finally able to get serious about getting back into my early morning cycling routine.  My spine surgeon says to carry on like I never had back surgery.  So, off I go.  Everyone have a good week.

Congratulations Catey.....  I never had drains but they really souded like something to be avoided at all costs if one could.  Still, we tend to take what comes and 'learn', however reluctantly, to live with it while we have too.  So yay for you.....hope your path just gets smoother and smoother.

    Love and peace

Geez Moonflower, why not in June or July?  I'm a camper, fish, kayak and hike.  Wish I could come but it's right when my job starts getting crazy.  Not allowed to take time off then.

Not that Moonflwr needs double 'vouching', but she and I have known each other since our clan of BCO members (February 2012 Chemotherapy) came together as we anticipated and began chemo. We're a family over there :0)

    Yay Catey on 'drains gone'!!!
