The great lesson from the true mystics is that the sacred
is in the ordinary,
that it is to be found in one's daily life,
in one's neighbors, friends, and
family, in one's backyard.

Good morning....we are in the honeymoon stage of a beautiful, beautiful snow.....but that stage will change. It did not start early last night as predicted Very early in the wee hours right before dawn. The prediction has now been changed to include likely three more inches.....to 15 in total. Will be snow like I've never seen here. My HUGE hope is that the dryer snow starts falling soon so that power lines and trees will have less weight on them.
I don't anticipate any trouble driving with my four-wheel drive, but we do have the snow blade on the tractor for our drive-way and at some point ( but not any too soon I'm sure ) the city will be out to plow our lane.
I do love a good snow.....love to go out and walk in it, but in order to get the dryer snow the temps have to drop more. Walking will not be much fun then.
Hope you all can stay in today and just look out the window. Be careful and safe.
Blessings,
Jackie

Was not snowing when I got up, had about 5 more inches down, thought that was it as we are far northwest, but it is snowing again now. Had shoveled to the bird feeders, hopefully I wont have to again! Will go stomp it down later. Husb can do the rest!

The snow is now officially higher than the dog- he loves snow, so this could get interesting.
I've got a question I hope someone can answer. I started Tamoxifen 8 days ago, and now I'm unclear if I have a yeast infection or if this is a side effect of the Tamoxifen. I need to call someone in the morning, but I'm unsure if it should be my oncologist or PCP. BC- never a dull moment and always something new to keep you guessing!

hi Corpor. I recall reading that a side effect can be vaginal discharge, so it may just be that if it's not so itchy like a yeast infection. I'd start by calling your MO and they can direct you accordingly. Good luck!

Corpor like Hope said just call u'r PCP they handle almost all these things now, any type of infection. Hope it's not, but just check it out.
Snow, Snow, Snow that's all we can see here. We have a good size dog, 1/2 border collie and 1/2 lab, but all of his bottom is in the snow now so he's trying to figure out how to do this. But he loves running in it, it's cute to watch.
My SIL and GS have done the driveway 3 times so far and they'll be doing it more, one thing at night u don't need any lights on just open the curtains it's so bright now. I'm sure we're getting different amounts of snow all over but I bet it's only about an inch different thruout the state. I wonder how this will fare with tomorrow and schools and even work.

corpor as mentioned vaginal discharge can be a SE of Tamoxifen… and should be reported.

We are completely snowed in! There's no getting out by our vehicles until a snow plow comes down our lane and the wind is blowing so hard that it would be drifted shut in no time at all! Ugh! I only hope that the power stays on.
Zap, I completely understand where you are at with your fears and feelings, Although I spend less time each day thinking about bc as the years progress, I have become very anxious as the "routine" check-ups and mammos appear. ......and this seems to get worse with time instead of better. As far as your stage change goes, it doesn't really matter. You have done well. If you deal with it best by ignoring it, just do that. Your worrying is not going to change anything and if you are getting yearly checks that's all you can do unless you work on changing your diet, which I have tried to do, especially eliminating as many sugars as I can. Hugs to you!

If
it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the

biggest one first.how I feel going off to work today, 4:24 am! Have a good, safe day everyone! Especially Catey- bundle up

What an icy wonderland outside. The temperatures plummeted overnight so it is going to be like 30 below outside. We do have to go out to the dog pen ( dog house heated ) and feed the dogs, as well as the cat room....also with heat lamps so they are/will be ok.
I think this will be another day of hanging around home. That has never much bothered me. I'd love to see a snow plow come down our lane but I won't be holding my breath. We won't be out long or doing much either. Just isn't really too safe. Dh has insulated pants, but nothing else.
I had been saying the amt. of snow was a first, but these super artic temps. ( for this part of the country ) while not a total first for the area...are for us. We have been back now 16 years and have not seen anything like what we are looking at or will be feeling soon.
We could use our vehicles but have no idea what the roads our are really like since we stayed home yesterday. Drifts or what have you that could be a problem. If the snow plow comes.....then we would be a bit more sure that it would be fine.
Hoping all who must be out for any reason, are able to be as safe as can be.
Blessings,
Jackie

Oh Lago we're actually colder than they are right now. That's bad, people could start sending prisoners here instead of there.
We got some really hot water put it in a cup and (of course we had Joey do it) went outside and threw it in the air haha we're so goofy, and it went poof in a mist right in the air. Don't ask me why we did tht, well we weren't going out but Joey was happy to, the dog didn't even want to go out with him, he always does. Poor dog can't find a place to go the snow is higher then his parts, of course my SIL took care of that for him.
Keep warm everyone and stay in if u can, f not make sure u have blankets in the car and dress layered. Oh I don't even leave my house, my job is from home. LOL

My daughter had a friend from Siberia. I once asked her parents, during a cold snap like this one "I guess this is nothing compared to Siberia". They replied, "No, it's exactly like Chicago," It feels like Mars! Uninhabitable!

Are any of you having pain in the shoulder, back and chest after having trans flap reconstruction?

Morning everyone,
It is brutally cold here and fortunately I don't have to work but do have errands that have been put off that need to happen. We shall see. I know it is not at all nice up North ( Chicago ) and probably feeling much worse. We should soon start with a small warming trend ( none too soon for me for sure ) which will help get us personally un-thawed, but I know there has been a whole lot of snow everywhere that will, just like here, need to start dissipating. Not ever seen it like this and wondering if this is to become our ( global warming ) normal. That won't be too fun.
Buddy, which I had some ideas for you but only had lumpectomy. You have had such a go of this ( ad-infinitum style ) and I sure hope you can get some sort of ease. Did you check into any LE that may have cropped up. It can happen in the "trunk" area of your body I think. Hoping someone with more knowledge will soon come along.
Thinking of all of you and hoping you are able to get by without too much outdoor time.
Blessings,
Jackie

Not a fun day commuting to downtown... it was nice to have yesterday off, but back to the old grind today!

Well ladys I survived the past 2 days spent outside in subzero --45 with windchills. Mondays was absolutely ridiculous. We didn't get any letter mail so basically we delivered sales flyers/catalogs and maybe a few magazines. They mail truck I had about 1/3 of the way of my park and walk loops wouldn't shut off, so I had to wait for another vehicle. My maillady where I deliver went into a ditch and vehicle ended up on its side and a maillady in the next small town over went into the ditch and broke both axels on her truck. Our roads out here in the sticks are horrible with snow drifts
Today was horrendous!! Yesterdays lettermail and also todays weekly newspaper to every house along with the local college course mailing. Didn't get finished until after dark. Impossible to see where your walking and ice etc. Much less the fact that very few people have shuvled and then add the snow drifts. Im exhausted and Ive only been back to work full time since Saturday.
Oh well enough of my ranting, tomorrows another day!
Hope all is well.0 -
Good morning!
It have been forever since I have posted here and forgive me for just looking for some advice. I had my bmx 7/11 and exchange 10/29. b4 my exchange my skin on my left breast was getting thin and my ps moved up my exchange because he thought this would help. Well I am now 2 months post exchange and the thin skin has scabbed over however it has since cracked and you can see my implant (about the size of an eraser). My ps put in what he called "extra skin" and that has since gone MIA. His suggestion is to cut out the scab (about 3" in length) take out the implant suture me up and wait at least a month before starting back up with a TE. My question is why can't he just cut the scab out and suture it up and save the implant? there is currently no infection. A little background.. before my exchange he had the other doctor form the practice look at it (he is a little more seasoned with this) and he said he could just cut it away the sore at the exchange and suture it but my ps did not want to do that. Anywho... I am thinking this may warrant a 2nd opinion and if so I would need this ASAP my PS wanted me to have this procedure done yesterday while I was in his office I declined because I had commitments at work I need to follow thru with this week as well as I am NOT mentally prepared for this. Any suggestions? Do you think a 2nd opinion would be warranted? If so any PS suggestions in Kane or Lake county? Let me add that he has had only 1 other patitent where he had to take out the implant so my impression is he may not know other options?!

Myers a second opinion is always good in so many cases, It sounds to me that this Dr. figures it will do the same thing and break open again, but I just guessing, so since this sounds like an ASAP kind of thing go for another opinion and see what u decide.
OOOOO Catey, I knew it would be all junk mail, I'm so sorry u had to do this--this crap thru sleet and snow should have stopped when Congress decided it was all right for them to close--Most people do bills, have deposits all that stuff on computers now--besides a day or 2 would not have been crazy. the government would have saved money on the accidents and who knows who got hurt--they don't look ahead==People don't even complain about not getting mail anymore.People don't even want to open up the door to get it now.

cateyz2 I can only imagine. I did go out yesteday and even in the city I was amazed how many business haven't shoveled/salted properly. I only walked around the block to Walgreens/Grocery. I can't imagine doing it the entire day in cold/wind! BTW my building got mail yesterday but we got none. We got a little junk make on Monday though.
Myers complications with implants are more common than you think. I have not known anyone who has had to have the implant removed that didn't have an infection but I'm sure your PS has a reason… did you ask him why? I think for your piece of mind go get a 2nd opinion. Then decide what makes sense. If the new PS says he can do it without removing the implant be sure to ask what the risks are as opposed to doing it the way your current PS wants to do it. Don't go with what you want to hear. Go with what really makes sense. I know women who have gone with what they want to hear and ended up with additional surgeries in the long run.

Amy - I would definitely get a 2nd opinion on something that impacting. I know it may be a bit of a hike for you but my PS (and CateyZ & Aviva) is highly regarded for his work (his bedside manner may leave something to be desired at times) and I have heard he often works on revisions. I think it would be worth trying to get in to see him. His name is Stephen Madry & he has offices in Barrington (Good Shepherd) and Elk Grove (Alexian Bros).
Catey - All I can say is I am so sorry you have to deal with this cold and miserable work situation on top of just returning from all you have been through. You're tough - you will get through this too!!
All my best to everyone else!

catey...so sorry that you've had to be out in this weather, especially the day you just had junk mail to deliver. Brrr....you have grit, gal!
Amy....you situation screams "second opinion" to me. Although I did not have implants, I would certainly not want to go back into this with any questions in my mind. What's the worst that could happen with a second opinion? They could tell you the same thing that you PS is telling you and then at least you'd feel more comfortable with your decision. I think you would be amazed at the number of second opinions that the gals on this site have searched out throughout our journeys, from diagnosis to reconstruction.
It's above zero today! HEAT WAVE! YEAH! I can get out of my lane and I have errands to run this morning so I'd better get moving! There is a chance tomorrow of freezing drizzle in our area so I want to get most of my errands done.
Stay warm and travel safely!

Get a second and a third opinion if necessary. I have found that no two doctors agree on just about anything!
