Oh my I am about in tears reading all of the post.  Man I wish I could have been there with you guys.  It sounds like you had a terrific time.  When and where will the pictures be posted?  And when is the next get together?

Yes chemo went fine but as i figured after the 2nd day taxol and nuelasta is kicking in.  And the lymphedema in my left arm.  So yes I do feel like do do. lol...Have to go to physical therapy after chemo.  What do they mean they are going to push the fluids back into my lymph nodes?  And has anyone had any problems with there hands turning black and nail beds.  Dr. says it's just pigmentation.  But after reading the post earlier will my nails be falling off?

Irina...welcome to the board and yes you have someone in your backyard you can talk to only 20+ miles from you.  Hope you are doing fine.  Hope to hear from you soon.

And I just love my new boob.  It's big and tawny.  My son just loves that he has his pillow back.  And my husband just love the fact that it feels so real and that he can go back to two handsies.  So he thinks...

Well gotta go drug myself up some more and take another nap.  My husband and son are off to wrestling sectionals.  So I am taking care of myself.  My 16 yrs old daughter is too busy phone tagging and myspaceing to give me a little bit of time.  Big baby ain't I?

You guys have a great day

    Connie,

I love boating and wave running and I can't wait for boating season to start!!. We are on Lake Delavan in Wisc. Like you I live up north during the summer just to go boating. I like to wave run early in the am when the lake is so calm and it looks like glass..you can really take off and do 360's out there. It is so much fun.

Last summer sucked as I did rads and couldn't wave run or boat. It was to painful with my arm and I had really bad depression from it.

As soon as the DRN says we can put the boat in the water I am gotta be out there wet suit and all.

Were in Michigan is your lake house? I have friends who boat to Bay Harbor every year and we will be there in July for a few days.

    Lets trade boat stories!!lol.

Do you remember the dates she told us for Vegas?. Let me know.

    Have a great weekend

What wonderful posts since I have been out and about.  Sabrina...sorry that you are having your se's kicking in so much.  I'm just now starting to feel human again...whew....last A/C really hung in there so you have my sympathies and as many good vibes as I can get going in your direction.  Hang in there.

I'm done in with all the work so I'm going to go find my recliner and dump myself in it.

    Talk with you all later.

Irna, I had all my work/treatments at Evanston. I sent you a pm. Can you get a referral from your primary to a doc in the Evanston group? I am receiving very fine care there.

Sabrina, sorry you are feeling like dodo. I had my treatments during the Fall and I could get out for fresh air. It has to be hard to be holed in and feeling awful. Thinking of you!

Okay, this is embarrassing. My cat was walking on my laptop and STOOD on the mouse. The post was then posted multiple times. Forgive US. The cat needs to find a real mouse!'

    Susan-Funny cat!

Sabrina-I have twin 16 year old boys - so I understand about how BUSY they are on myspace, texting, etc!!!

I would love to make this next lunch meeting. I'll try to take a 1/2 day off. Let us know the date. Still not sure when my implant exchange will be.

Is a group of the IL ladies going to Vegas?

Laura-send us some sun and warmth! Enjoy your trip.

Kathy....HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Sorry I missed the celebration, but so glad you all had fun. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics, and I love your wig and your headgear when riding with your niece. Did she think you were funny? My kids would have been rolling their eyes....

Susan...My cat totally destroyed our first mouse. My dh was so unhappy with him, but he saw a mouse and he had to kill it! We had it for about five minutes, and then the dh left the room. Big mistake! After that we didn't leave him alone in the room with the computer for a very long time.

Wendy...I think you were saying how gorgeous Rita is? I hope I'm remembering correctly with chemo brain. I agree that she's a hottie! What I love about this thread is that everyone is beautiful inside and out. Too corny maybe, but it's how I feel about you all.

Jackie...I have been very close to your neighborhood many times over the years. Hope we get to meet sometime, and mostly hope this second leg of chemo is easier on you. Chemo kicked my butt, and I have always been strong and healthy. I wanted agressive tx, so I shouldn't complain too much.

I love reading all your posts, and hearing from all the new ladies too. I have to get off the computer, and back into vacation mode for now. It's been snowing giant flakes all day, just so gorgeous outside. We look staight up the mountain from our deck, and can watch  skiers coming down. Dh is being so sweet, and serving me breakfast in bed. He's very grateful to all you ladies for helping me when he didn't know how.

Stay safe, and have a great day tomorrow. Anyone planning to watch the Oscars?

    Hi Karin,

I have neuropathy from taxol. I have flown several times since chemo, including to Hawaii which is sooooo long. I try to get up a little more often, because the longer I sit the worse it seems to get. Nothing really takes away the numbness and tingling, but at last my nails have the normal color back. I have to stand in place for a few seconds before I start to walk, otherwise I am hobbling noticeably. I try to ignore it, and fly anyway, because I want to have fun!!

I hope we do get a lunch going when you are in Elgin. I'd love to meet you, and I'm keeping those dates in mind.

    off topic

just got .....Back from high school friends bday celebration!

It's all old news now, I'm officially fifty. 8-)

Really touching, a girlfriend framed photos of we girls since college times,

including 3 of last weekend!!   ...can't wait to look at it under real light (not bar light), maybe tomorrow. My brother in law should be proud, he is the ONLY male on the whole 16x20 framed set of pix!! (he is the father of my only niece and nephew and a high school buddy).

March 20 and 21....I'm free except I did hear IL extension is starting classes (Thursdays) on how not to marry a jerk or jerkette, can you believe it? I had to put it away while an old boyfriend walked up. chuckle.

Do you think I could pass for a "young adult" or should I pretend I'm covering it for the local newspaper.

    chuckle.

Oh maybe it starts in MAY, not march. 8-)

    Kater

What a busy day and a wake tomorrow, but will do photos soon! I think camera is still in car.

Sorry for delay!! Thanks for bday greetings....and also mention of "wig offing and guy looking at lunch", it was cute story to tell my family today...tonight I only took it off maybe four times, just itched too much. My two red headed friends are happy I said I now looked like their sister. 8-)

Blackjack i keep forgetting to look at mail. Thanks for Garmin info.

    Hi allSurprised

I'm up early and it's snowing.....where on the weather report did I miss this.....hmmmm..... Old Man Winter just wants to keep hanging around.  I have to admit it's pretty though....even though I was in the dark living room with the deck light on waiting for Baby Boss to check it all out for me.  Found something ya'll might like:

I Believe in Angels, The Kind that Heaven Sends.

I'm surrounded by Angels, but I call them My Best Friends.

Hope you all have a fantastic Sunday.

Morning!  Wasn't the weather up here nice yesterday?  Sun was warm. Jackie...sorry you are getting snow...how are the temps?

Pat....you are getting breakfast in bed?  Wow...lucky girl.

Sabrina...how are you feeling this morning?

Mich101...could you make lunch on a Friday?  Connie and Laura don't work on Fridays.  You could tell them at work that you are going to a "medical seminar on breast cancer"  and that would not be a lie.

Karin....either Thurs or Friday would be fine with me to meet up with you.  There are a TON of restaurants on Randall Road, but then I don't know exactly where in Elgin you will be staying.  It's a pretty big town!  What crossroads are you near?

Kater....you were up again in the middle of the night!  You need some sleep, girl!  But it sounds like you had fun.

Susan...funny cat!  Wondered why you deleted so many posts, but that reason never crossed my mind!

OK..not fair!  Rita and Chiefette are sending secret messages!  Only kidding....

Blackjack...thanks for the Sister greeting!  Right back at you.  I am watching Paul (that gardener guy on HGTV) and he was building a water feature...made me think of your pond.  My deck is 20x20 which would make my deck smaller than your pond.  Gosh...you don't have a pond, you have a lake!

    Calling Nicki!!!!!

Laura...eat, take your calcium and put on some sunblock.  Mother says....

Time for my second cup...and of course my trip to the front window to see if and where the paper might be today.  Always an adventure!  But the sun is out and not too cold...so an extra 3-4 trips out there, scouting paper locations is okay.  Have a fun one!  Do something crazy today.  If there wasn't so much snow still on the deck I might (I said might) have grilled.  But shoveling in order to grill? Now that's too crazy even for me.

    Good Morning Ladies,

I see Wendy that you are up very early today. Still looking for that Sunday paper lol. I think Friday would be a good day for lunch when Karin comes in. It seem a lot of ladies are off on Friday me included. Maybe we can go back to Baggio's as they have big tables there...

    what do you think???

As for the pond yes it is big..but you too can have a pond on your deck. They build them in to your deck with a waterfall. Just an idea!!

oh the phone is ringing..gotta go..talk to you later...

Blackjack....nope...won't be building a pond in my deck.  I do however have a little plug-in water feature which provides the water noise.  If I do anything with my deck it will be to rip it off and build a patio which I should have done 7 years ago when we bought this house.  I hate the maintenance factor.

Actually...just came back on the thread to nag Calypso.  Did you call your dr yet?

Calypso and Laura...consider yourself well nagged--ok.  Still snowing here....I was up about 5 a.m.  not sure of the temps, but it's due to get up to 40 with some sun so that snow won't stay.  In the 50's tomorrow....could have thunderstorms, but I'm sure will at least get some rain.  Oh....the joys of weather are so never-ending.

Blackjack....I have small fountains on my deck...had a built in one I really liked but dh hated it....it fit the deck though.  So, we switched but I still long for the one that was custom made for this deck.  Decks do need power washing and re-staining which is a chore...but since we slope somewhat it would be hard to have a patio here....and I love the fact that we are up high....as well as walking out my kitchen directly onto the deck.

Not sure of today's plan, but will wait to do the feeding til' the temp is up good.  I don't do stairs too well since my stroke.....my stairs going off the deck are very wide--lengthwise as well as withe wise.

That saves me ok.  Some day I guess I will have to put rails out there but I'm in no hurry right now.

Will be exciting to see a pic or two of all of you from Friday.  Sure loved the last one.  Had to go back recently and mark the pages where they were....I'm too addled to remember those things.

Well, I'll be checking back all day....all take care.

    Good afternoon everyone,

Just sent a copy of the pics Kater sent to me........to Pat/Smerf.  They are great pics and it is very apparent ya'll had a great time.  Good for ya....wish I'd been there....maybe next time.

Lots of melting going on here.....that's good.

I think Julie is really struggling again with her se's.  She seems to have jumped on the Ain't It Great site long enough to say hi and pretty much go curl up again I think.

Sure makes me feel like a bit of a wimpette for all my complainin'.  I think this was #3 for her and they all sound like it came down like a ton of bricks.

I don't recall how many chemo's she had to have, but I sure hope it's not much more....don't know how easy it would be to keep going back when they turn out like they have been so far.  If you are up to reading though......Julie, just hope your Doc can come up with something that will really work for you.  What are the chances of someone not able to find relief with so much that has worked for so many others.  Our thoughts and prayers and good vibes are being sent your way and we sure hope they produce a satisfactory answer.

On a lighter note........your all so pretty in the photo and when I finally get in on one of those I will more than likely ruin the picture...I don't take good pictures because I "pose" and destroy any achievement that might have been made.  Still....that won't stop me when it's time.

Well, gotta go make some dinner.  See ya later.

Hey Girls....I'm still here.  Just don't post much. Never seem to have enough time in the day.  So here I am at work and having nothing better to do.  Everything is going fine for me.  Been healing up pretty good and the energy level is getting better.  I have been off and on depressed about everything.  It just sucks that I have to deal with this.  I think that it stinks that I had to go through all this again.  The good thing is I won't be having chemo or radiation this time around.

Sounds like you girls had a great time.  I am definately coming next time.  Just need to know about a week in advance.  I can drive my new vehicle.  We bought a 2008 Saturn Vue.  It's got all the bells and whistles.  We are having them install a sunroof since it doesn't come with one.  We got such a good deal, we couldn't pass it up.

Rita...we need to do lunch or dinner sometime soon.

Hope everyone has a great day.  I promise to post more.

Great lunch picture ladies! Looks like you had a great time.

Connie-Your hair looks very cute! Has any of it started coming in curly?

Kater-Your new wig? Looks great on you!

My hair is actually needing another cut (I think). I really don't know how to handle it-has curls and fullness like I've never had before. I don't know how to style it- but I'm not complainingSmile.

Hope to see everyone at the March lunch.

Great pictures...wish I could have been there.  Hope you all had a nice weekend.  Today it was so lovely with the sun....I can not wait for spring.

I go for my radiation planning session in the morning.  I am not anxious about it, but I am starting to dread the thought of hormone therapy.  Since I am not in menopause yet, my oncologist said I can do Tamoxifen or he can either surgically remove my ovaries or supress them with shots and then I can go on Femera or Armidex...oh gee...what wonderful choices...   Ok, yes, I am complaining....sorry...but sometimes I think THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!

Nancy LA, i got my ovaries out....i am very happy....you can hardly see the laparoscopic 3 tiny scratches, one in bellybutton....two others...i am glad to be on arimidex, supposedly a touch better than tamoxifen...not much though.

Thanks Michele 101! I asked hairdresser in haircutters what to do when caregiver needed a cut, i had about inch long hair, they trimmed it all over...and i colored it a couple times already....no more leaving nature take its course for me!!!

I plan to wear all my hats, after all...i didnt get my hat racks all hung in my powder room yet (using my grandma's silver spoons bent up like i saw in a magazine). I cant believe it's almost a year and i only just recently got holes put in a few of them by friend....a great gift for new chemo person without wigs...HAT RACKS!! HEY LAURA.............light bulb!

    off topic

also...i picked up cool under the counter  cabinet portable lights from sams club, plan to put some around for the cats, too, they turn off after one hour. new item to me..

    Hi gals!

It sounds like everyone is bubbly today and that's good.  So glad that you're feeling better, Jackie!

Kathy, thanks so much for the pictures!  Hey, aren't we a great looking group????  I also LOVE the close-up of Kater and JanClare!!!!  REALLY neat!

Nancy from Barrington, good luck tomorrow with the rads planning.  I wore a V-neck tee to my planning session.  My radiation onc did not do the tattooing.  Instead, he used little clear plastic "stick-on
discs" and drew black lines with permanent magic marker all over my boob.  When I finished, a friend and I went to lunch.  I noticed that some people were looking at me a little strangely.  When I glanced down, some of the magic marker lines protruded heftily out from the v-neck.  It looked like I had colored all over myself with a magic marker.  Since there wasn't anything I could do about it at that point except eat with my coat on, I just decided to grin and bear it and pretend that there was nothing out of the ordinary!  LOL

Hey, it looks like I might have a traveling companion for the next luncheon with Ginny.  Hey, Ginny, it's a little scary traveling with me.  I actually arrived at the place and didn't know I was there so took a rather lengthy detour, bonded with a few men in parking lots (one that didn't speak much English) and finally got directions back to the place where I originally arrived.  LOL

Well gals, it's been a pretty draining day for me and I'm off to the recliner.  Do you realize that we haven't got many posts to go and we've hit the 3,000 mark!  Wow!  That's really something.

Everyone have a good week.  Get us started tomorrow, Wendy.  I have an early doctor's appt. so I won't get on in the morning and then I'm meeting Mary Jane in Peoria for a girl's day.  It's hard telling when I'll get home!

    Catch you all later!

    Rita
