New Want To Play A Word Game

@RedReading, I did make it to the airport and pick up my
mom, but I was so wiped out when we got to Mom's place I asked her to
have one of the staff there come and get her suitcase out of the car. I
had put it in but wasn't at all sure I could get it out again. As you
can probably guess from the above, I didn't stop at IKEA. I have to
admit I like wandering through there every once in a while but I will
just have to wait until next time I'm in Seattle to go. I need to go
cancel my post-office box too. I am feeling quite a bit better today--still weak & tired but as if I am getting over a bad flu, not as if I still have it. I'm back to using just OTC for
my back and don't really know if I need to keep doing that. I might see
what happens if I go down to one tablet each time instead of two (max
recommended dose).@2TA, I hope you are feeling somewhat better today and can stave off the blues by getting support at bco and anywhere else it is to be had. Did you get to meet the other bco member yesterday or decide to stay put?
That's all for now.

Curve, glad you didn't try to take your mom's suitcase out of your car. Seems like you know what your limits are, and that is good. Hope you get your energy back soon.
Yeah, Maddy, did you get to meet the other bco gal? I hate it that we were SO close over 4th of July, but it was so darn hot in Vegas, that it didn't work out for us to meet up. Someday....
CC, Oh I love accupuncture so much, esp the afterglow feeling. Want to get that done again soon.
Red, do you leave tomorrow, or the next day?
OK, time to swtich gears now. I was at my DD's house today for the home health care nurse's visit, and learned how to care for the feeding tube. SO much to learn, and she was still in a lot of pain, as it was just put in yesterday. I am still babying my back, and taking meds at night to sleep, plus now using heat.
Have a good night, girls!

@wahine, alas, it was too soon to start tapering off the acetaminophen, but I am eager to get back to normal (or at least "new normal") ASAP. It's all well & good knowing one's limits but I would rather the limits were a little looser than at current! I asked over on the bone mets thread how long Zometa flu-like side effects last, and most people who have answered so far said three days or so, although one person did have them last 10 days. Several people said the SE were worst the first time and got milder with continuing use. They also suggested that infusing more slowly might help. I hope your DD's feeding tube site heals fast and stops hurting soon—also your back.
bon voyage, RedReading!
'night everyone

Curve, hope you're a little better each day! Even if you feel better, do a bit, then tire, at least it's progress. IKEA can wait to take your money, or you can view the catalog online till then.
CC, glad the acupuncture helped. Not sure what it feels like to be fluffier, though.
Wahine, glad you got to be there with the nurse. Wasn't being a nurse one of your many talents? I wish we would have been able to meet, too, but like you said, it was just too darn HOT! It felt like we melted when we went outside. Hoping the opportunity presents itself again, soon.
Did have a nice meeting with my youngest brother, he finally got to see Mom and Dad's new home and he now understands why it's perfect for them as well as the community. We took Dad's golf cart out for a spin (I love to do that there), but the battery died when we were pretty far away. Poor DB had to push it a bit, I felt so bad. Then, there was a small decline, so I coasted down. At the bottom, he didn't catch up so I did a Flintstone-style push: right foot on the pedal, left foot pushing on the road. An older gentleman was sitting on the bench and I could I was amusing him! I was close to the Fontana earthquake last night, but I didn't feel it.
Unfortunately, did not get to meet with the BCO gal today. I got a late start. Then, my mom was being stubborn (clothes on backwards and inside out and wouldn't change them), we were not about to go out in public to run errands like that. Then, it just takes too long to do anything (reminds of a baby urping all over before going out and needing to change or a kid taking their clothes off and not putting them on, we had that early in the day with mom, just running around in her undies), so our schedules couldn't mesh (she had a doctor's appt nearby). So, another time.
Within the last hour, we had a little earthquake, but we were sitting almost on top of it. It was a rolling one and the whole house creaks, no damage. DH was sleeping, but woke up. I was running downstairs and by the grace of God, I didn't step on a cat on the way down. So, we haven't had bad weather, just earthquakes.
Red, enjoy your trip! Relax and bring back good stories!

Oh my Maddie, hope that earthquake didn't leave a trace of damage! Glad your bro now understands why your mom is where she is. My parents are not at that state yet, and I am always amazed how well my mom dresses every day. NOT ME...I run around doing housework in "whatever" till it is time to go out....only then do I get really dressed. Not fancy, just fully dressed...lol. Right now though my dad has a very bad cold, in HI, so I am quite worried, since he is 97. Sorry the meetup didn't work out, but right now your mom is most important, and it is so sweet that you take care of her before anything else. My nursing training was just LPN, and army medic, BUT that was...omg let me think...back in 1979-1981, sure did forget lots of that, as had so many different jobs since then. The one thing that stuck in my mind though was to always have a "sterile field". I was surprised this nurse said nothing is sterile for her feeding tube area. HUH? But it did look like it was healing well....hurts a lot inside and at the site though. This surgery was 10x worse than getting her port in, and she had a hard time with that one. I am dreading what is to come though.
Red, once you get started on your trip, I am hoping you can focus on that, and relax, enjoy being away. Try not to think of what you are facing when you return, if you can. Usually on all our trips I am so busy getting ready and getting things in place at home, that I don't get excited till I am on the plane. Sometimes I am not excited till we land. Hopefully it will be a wonderful time. Just getting away can be great!!!

Wahine, no damage, just shattered nerves. They didn't get to talk about it on the news as they were going to track a big fire here all day. Sounds like your mom gets more dressed up every day. Since I'm becoming somewhat of a hermit at times, I don't care how I look when I'm home alone, cats don't care. Good incentive to not answer the front door for all the solicitations. DH sleeps most of the weekend so I don't care. Are your parents on Oahu too? DD is half way thru her vacation, still no contact. Looks like they had fun doing the Dole Plantation maze, found out by F_B otherwise I would know nothing.
I am amazed how you keep everything straight! I have a difficult enough time keeping my days straight.

O Maddy, you know I love ya more than my luggage (Steel Magnolias). So very sorry you are going thru all this shite. The next time I complain about my mom being high maintenance, I want you to send me a virtual smack!! I do NOT have to put up with her running around in her undies refusing to dress!
I would be so ticked off if my daughter didn't text or IM me during a vacay. On the other hand, nowadays kids think posting on FB covers all the bases. But I do know that mom's want the personal touch too.
Wahine, I was in the air force (cdn of course) from 1974-78. I was a mechanic thought. Lifting 70lb alternators from a deuce and a half while 6 months pregnant ended my career tho.
How's your back doing today? I'm glad you got time to just be on your own and get stuff done. Hope you included a little r & r for Kathy tho.
Curve, sorry you were in pain from lack of ASA, but it is encouraging to see how hard you are trying to get back to the new normal. What is Zameta for?
CC, you feel taller and fluffier after acupuncture? That's cool but I didn't feel that way after mine. I want to feel fluffier! I do!
I am finally excited about my vacay. Packed tonight. I am taking way too much stuff and my DH and I are doubling up on a bunch of things. Did I tell you that in Jamaica, preparation H will cost you $63 including the cab ride. I have been downed by Montezuma's revenge on our last 3 Caribbean vacations. We have enough remedies to sink a ship in our bags.
I will miss the hell out of you girls. I will try to get online at the hotel computer at least once to post a pic or something. But I won't be able to catch up till I'm home. I'm cheap!
Look after each other. I consider each of you my friend. And remember, if u can't be good - don't get caught!!!!

@RedReading, you may not get this until you return, but Zometa is a bone-booster, which is in my treatment because I have bone metastases. I think the idea is to make the parts of the bones that don't have cancer stronger, to make up for the weakness of the parts the cancer has infiltrated.
I'm not sure what the previous word is at this point. I see 2TA used track, and then CCFW used trick (although not highlighted), but I don't see anything highlighted in your post, so I think I will stick with playing off CC's word. I hope you have a great vacation, and no Revenge. I did a year of college in the UK and got Boudica's Revenge shortly after I got there, and was really sick for two weeks. If I'd ever gotten it three times or even twice in the same place, I don't think I'd go back. It would take an awful lot of fun to balance that misery!

Whew, Thanks Curve, I had wondered which word to use, also! Thank God I finished that big bench and got it upstairs the night before I fell, as I still wouldn't be able to do it now. I had brought down a footstool to recover, but I need my strength back before recovering it. It takes a lot of pressure, as I use the staple gun, and not tacks.
Red, I hope you stay well too!!! When we went to Cancun on our honeymoon, (left car at Atlanta airport), I was soooo good at only drinking bottled water, bottled beer, no salads, etc. Well shoot, the LAST DAY while having lunch, someone had a yummy looking tropical drink, so I forgot, and ordered it. It was either a frozen drink, or on ice, I forget which. BUT after we flew back to Atlanta and picked up our car, we had to go to DC (pentagon) for an important meeting my DH was in charge of. ALL the way driving there, I was sick, so very sick. Got to the hotel in DC, but early in the morning, my DH had to take me to the ER, I was just so sick. Thats when I learned that all the pepto bismol I was taking was just making it worse, stopping me up. The dr there told me to take a gas product (like gas-ex or whatever its called), and after iv's,etc.,we went back to the hotel. but my DH missed his meeting. To make it even worse (for him), my girlfriend lives in VA and was driving up so we could spend the day shopping. Even though I told her I was sick and we had to stay in, she came anyway. AND we went shopping ALL DAY. LOL....my DH always reminds me of that. So when he does, I remind him of the time he was at the ER in Vegas thinking he had a heart attack, and when they discharged him we left in a taxi and went straight to a blackjack tournament he had signed up for...didn't even go back to the room! ANYWAY< long story long, I just wanted to mention the gas product, as that sure helped me. I just get the store brands. Also, when I got sick in Costa Rica, they gave me lots of hot tea with lemon.

Omg. I was so excited it didn't even post a word. Just rambled on. Duh!
I'll pick up that gas ex. Sounds like a good plan. You should see the pharmacy I'm taking with me! RACKS of little pill bottles in a baggie and more in my purse. Can't just go somewhere with just clothes any more. Gotta take the whole bathroom too.
Gotta get back to work. I leave in 18 hours. Yay!

Glad it will be your vacay soon, Red! On another topic, please be praying for Julie from the drinking thread. She was going to take Cyndie out to lunch today and has not arrived, and is already over 2 hrs late, and its not like her at all. Cyn called the number I had for Julie, but just got a recording. I even found a site that had FL accidents, but there were too many to track. Really need prayers, and the chapel is inflated already.
0 -
Oh dear. OK Wahine. I sat some prayers for Julie. Hope she is heard from soon. As soon as you hear that they have managed to TRACE her down, please post.
0 -
WHEW she is okay, it was a mix-up somehow!!!! Thank God!!!! Now lets have some races to see who gets to the booze the fastest! Nah, jest kidding, but omg it would be nice to have a drink right now. This was soooooo stressful.
0 -
I so beat you to the booze - lubs mese my brewskis. Yeah, I know, I am so CRASS. Ah well, I won't care if you don't.
0 -
Wahine, glad it all worked out, what a scare!
Red, are you watching the clock right now? Have a wonderful time!
0 -
Thanks Maddy. I'm anxious but mostly tired. I forgot so many things. Didn't get a 220 converter so can't take my cell or kobo. Don't have a decent dress, so I'll wear skirts and tops. Just stuff.
I know I'll have fun, I'm just tired.
Love you girls.
Nite nite

Red, see if the front desk can loan a converter and that other part. Name slips my memory...but ya need the part to change voltage and the part to change configuration of the plug. Sometimes they have some to loan out, sometimes nada. Also, the airport shops may have them, but might be costly there. Just be casual, and comfortable, and drunk!!! lol. WooHoo!!!!!!
Oops forgot to do a word....I am following your lead, Deb! LOL. OK, Maddy's word was "scare". I am hoping the front desk will have cared enough to stock some converters to lend out to guests.
0 -
@wahine, I'm so glad Julie's "disappearance" was just a mixup about the time, and nothing serious.
@RedReading, I guess you are on your way by now, and if you don't find a converter you may not see this until you get back, but bon voyage anyway! I hope you have a dream vacation and come back rested and relaxed.
0 -
Oh yes, I sure hope you have a dream vacay too, Red! Speaking of dreams, perhaps you can pretend there is a very handsome pirate with a nice (clean!) beard who will be bringing drinks to you, and anything your heart desires! Of course, only while your DH is looking the other way...lol.

Red, saw your other post, about DH's passport. How did he not check on this beforehand? Hoping this SNAFU doesn't breed a big problem. Try to enjoy the time till he can join you
0 -
I know, that is just awful, isn't it. HOPE he finds his passport soon and can join you, Red. In the meantime, I see a bartender heading your way with TWELVE beers in a bucket (a big bucket), all iced down, just for you! Hope you are able to enjoy things a bit, by yourself, but I know that can't be as much fun. Be careful, too!
0 -
,Red, did you brings robes so you can get some sun? When you go to the pool, take DH's with you so you can pretend he's with you
0 -
-
Well, maybe not ALL the drinks. We don't want Red to get so sloshed she starts seeing imaginary spiders crawling up the wall or ogres under the bed or doesn't recognize her DH when he finds his passport and shows up.
0 -
ewwwww, ogres and spiders - how gross!
0 -
And we sure don't want her to be passed out in the sand or the grass, either.
On a serious note, not sure if Red can get back on the internet. But Red, if you are online, please update us on you husband's status. OMG I sure hope he can join you there!!!
0 -
hoping he gets the passport issue resolves and grabs the next flight out to meet you
