Thanks for the good advice, Curve. She is already on antidepressants and all the meds she can handle, since she has had panic attacks and depression for years. I am sure her anxiety makes things worse.

LOL, you are so funny Maddy! But you always find good words. We had some of the white stuff today, just flurries, and some stuck to the roads, but not too much. Going to be down to 8 degrees overnight though, so will be SO cold when we have to leave for the hospital. Brrr...

@wahine, I am sure you are right, that having pre-existing anxiety & depression does make this harder for your DD. Sometimes I get into an upset and worried frame of mind and it really makes me miserable. Emotions can really weigh me down, and it's hard to get out of that "black hole" once I'm in, so I try to avoid thinking about things that tend to push me in that direction.

There hasn't been any snow here. I didn't realize it ever got that cold in 'Bama. Single-digit temperatures might be an all-time record low around here. I think the coldest it has ever, ever been in Seattle is 0 degrees F, but I just googled to see what the all-time record is where I live now, and it's a little bit colder, 8 below zero. Still, I think during many winters it never gets down into the teens, let alone the single digits.

I'm not going to WHINE but that is a terrible word to make something out of. (dangling participle) (sp)

I don't care. I have good news. No chemo. Doc and I talked today. Chemo only improves my chances of non-recurrence by 2.5 %, so we decided the SE outweighed the benefits.

My oncotype was a 28, so I'm in the grey area. But I'm happy tonight.

    Yippee! Happy dance!!

Happy dance!! What is next for you, Red? Will you be having more surgery? Rads?

Now we have gone around in a circle and come back to the same word as yesterday. I can only think of one other word to go to and can't figure out how to work it into the story, so I will just tell you my word is hinge, and leave it at that. Time for me to get busy making dinner.

    Good word, Curve!

And Red,  I am soooo happy for you, too!!! How nice to not have to deal with chemo. YAY!!!  Now you can sleep more peacefully and have a good night!

Hey Curve. Started tamoxifen today, rads in 2-3 weeks. She's gonna make me start an exercise program, see a nutritionist and quit smoking. It's going to be tough in its own way but tonight I'm happy.

Heard you are feeling a bit better. I'm glad. Still praying for you in my own way. (((hugs)))

yay, yay, yay Red! Party tonight! Good luck with Tami - SE's range from nothing to nasty, glad I'm more towards the nothing range.

Wahine, your poor DD! All this added stuff too. Just not fair!

Curve, nice to hear you're cooking - in your kitchen!

Right now I'm sitting on the recliner with 2 heating pads, achy chest and arm, might be because weather report says we might be having some much-needed rain

OK Maddy, are you trying to show us up? What is this thing about using TWO words in your post???? HUH???? Showing us how smart you are, is that it? LOL, just having fun with you! I love it, fun that you were able to use two words. I decided to follow your last word of "might". Why are your chest and arm aching? I am also sitting down with a heating pad right now, behind my back. Are we all falling apart???

edit: OOPS, Red was too quick with the keys! But my word can work after "fight", too, so at least I don't have to come up with another one.

@ wahine & 2TA, I hope that nice heating pad keeps you from being sore and stiff tomorrow.

@2TA, yes, I seem to be getting over whatever it was. But I still have Zometa #2 coming up this Friday and I'm a bit scared about it because it might have been the Zometa that clobbered me. My friend (same one who came on my birthday) sometimes comes down here for her job. She'll be in town that afternoon and is going to come by after work to make sure I'm OK. I would be embarrassed to have the neighbors, whom I hardly know, come and check up on me, but it's different with friends.

    Nighty night to all!  image

ooh, I thought the last word was gifts. Did I miss something?

Curve, I believe it was. I just wanted to say good night, didn't add a new word. Good luck Friday, hoping it's just a bug, too. Shaking my fists at BC that it was just a fluke. Want you to spend some fun time with your friend. Get a great night of sleep! BTW, where did you get that waves smiley? I tried to post an animated smiley on another thread bit it lost the animation feature.

@2TA, the waving smiley is from another forum I'm a member of. I copied it there and pasted it here. The first time I tried that trick (on another thread here at bco) I was surprised that it worked, including the animation, but now if I want to use a smiley we don't have here, I know how to do it. OK, now it's time for some zzzzz's.

Curve, that's interesting. Will have to check it out.

oh, forget it, was so proud I thought of fists then realized I used it a couple posts back. Let me think of something more original.

Ok, I have dibs on the word stirs. Let me gather my thoughts and I'll be right back.

I haven't been on BCO since last night, seems like something stirs up some excitement. Was busy yesterday searching for jobs, then spent time cooking dinner for DH and me. Big mess in the kitchen, took a while to clean. Then, feeling pain so it was me on the recliner with 2 heating pads, got interested in some TV, not much activity on BCO. Turned technology off around 11 last night so I could get a good night's sleep. Went to an orientation this morning to see if I can get some career counseling and training so I can get employed. Dropped off a job application near there (for a community college district, they only accept walk-ins), it reminded me that back in October on my way to Dancing with the Stars taping with a friend, we stopped there to drop off a job application (didn't get get that job though). Was thinking of my friend and that I should text her later today. Stopped off to a produce store, guess who was there? My friend and her daughter! So funny, but that wasn't the only co-inky-dink today.

There was another strange thing (cue Twilight Zone music) too. Now I know a lot of BCO ladies don't like the Susan G. Komen organization, that's their right for whatever reason. I know some don't think we don't need any more BC education, but I think that's because we have become so educated with this disease, but so many need their services; attended a couple events last year and those there benefitted. Just saying. (I too don't necessarily like the way they spend their money, like to pay themselves big salaries but I don't get to tell them what to do with the funds). Anyone, got notified last week that a local amusement park near Disneyland (Knott's Berry Farm) is giving a portion of every ticket sold to Komen for February and March. As a kick-off they're having 50 women and guests at a special breakfast, take a group photo, ride on a roller coaster, then enjoy the park with free parking and admission. I replied last week but not in time. ScaredEmailed them and was put on waiting list. Just found out there's openings so DH and I are going this Saturday. NerdyNow, I know DH may bail at the last minute, that's his style, I'll go anyway.

Lastly, because I was busy today, I didn't get to BCO earlier. Had a couple people on different threads notice I wasn't here today and were concerned. Aw, nice to feel wanted.

Sorry, didn't mean to be so wordy.

You can be wordy as much as you wish Maddy! You're right, there seems to have been quite a few coincidences in your world today. I know nothing about Susan K. Gomen so I'm a bit lost on that part of the convo.

You're also right about BCO being kind of quiet last night. Other than you and Kathy, almost everyone was missing in action.

So there I was this morning, standing on the first STAIR of my porch, looking up and wondering how much longer I was going to have to miss the daylight. I go to work in the dark, I come home in the dark. I want to know who stole the sun!

Wow you did have a neat day, Maddy! And now you get to go to Knott's Berry Farm as their guest...awesome!! Will you be part of that group photo, too? Fun that you ran into just the friend you were thinking of seeing. RIght now I would love to trade our weather for your weather! The wind chill was -2 this morning when I had to take DH to the hospital for his test. He did well, nothing was found. Last night actual temp was 5 degrees, tonight supposed to be 10 degrees (heat wave!).

Aw Red, I used to hate those days when I worked, and rarely saw daylight...doesn't seem right, does it?  My favorite jobs were when I was in sales (decorating in home, and sales rep for other companies) and I was outside driving around most of the time. Loved being out with nature and not in an office!

Hope everyone has a good night! Got the g'kids in bed, and will have to turn in soon myself so I can get up at 6am again. Oh I hate having to get up so early, and get out in the mornings!!!! NIghty NIght!

Hurray for Mr. Wahine's clear test results!

Heeheee, it sounds like you are having a tough time with the weather wahine. Washington State has such a reputation for being cold and rainy, especially in the winter time. It is sometimes disagreeable and raw here, especially if we get the misery triad or what I call "the dreaded triple 34", which is 34 degrees, 34 mph wind speed, and 34/100" of precipitation. I used to work outdoors on a land survey crew, and believe me, if you spend all day out in that kind of weather you will be chilled to the bone by quitting time! However, today the forecast is much milder—it is supposed to be in the mid 40's by this afternoon, and right now I can see blue sky overhead. I mentioned it here and on the 100 days of gratitude thread. I hope I don't frighten it away!

Uh, oh! I need to train my brain to read better (or at least slow down). Sorry Wahine, I totally missed the good news about your DH! At least one stressor off your busy list.

Curve, wow, that sounds like really nasty weather, thanks for sending down here. Starting to looking dreary, looking forward to the wet stuff, just hoping it doesn't rain Saturday. So nice your home has been completed, at least enough to be warm and cozy without workers around. BTW, do you have much more work planned?

Ok, my rants for the day (lol). Had to get outside in 9 degree temps, and needed to leave the car for DH since he had the g'kids. OK, I am used to my garaged car, NOT my truck that stays in the driveway, and it was COLD. Didn't know it would be covered with ice, and the defrost and any heat would not happen for at least 10-15 min of letting the engine run. I sat in the truck in the driveway FREEZING, as I didn't even think to wear gloves. With one dog in the garage and other one in the laundry room it would have been too hard to go back inside.  I needed to be at my DD1's to take her to all-day chemo and rads. Well, they also changed the way they let people on the Arsenal, so any roads leading to any gates were backlogged. The Interstate was backed up for miles to the exit I needed, plus the highway I had to get on was backed up for miles....so a normal 5 min or so drive took 45 min, just to get a short distance! So had to have DD drive herself to hospital and I had to meet her there, or she would have been late. What I hated the most is that my DH forgot to tell me to start the truck early (I would have allowed more time), plus all the hundreds of drivers who zip by in the lane that they KNOW will merge into the main (my) lane, and end up in front of those of us that are trying to do the right thing and be courteous. AArrrrgghhhhhh.....okay, end of rant.

OK, for the good side, my DD did fine with chemo today...we were there for 4.5 hrs, as she had to see the chemo dr too, then rads afterwards, so we were there over 6 hrs. She really is a trooper, even though a lady sat next to her and was all doom and gloom about not only her cancer but anyone else's cancer she may have heard of.

Curve, I think I prolly mentioned before that my mom and stepdad (and my grandparents too), lived in Tacoma for a few years. I didn't mind the "mist" that happened a lot, but my  mom would get depressed during winter when she didn't see the sun enough. I think the NW is a beautiful area though, and all the lakes, and the sound, etc. Awesome! Not sure of which city you are in, but I mostly saw Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle and they all were beautiful.

Maddy, What is happening on Sat, that you want clear weather for? I think it will rain here all weekend, but the temps will be up to 60 or so...heatwave!!! lol

O my STARS, you had quite the day Kathy! Husband's can be great but they can also be quite thoughtless. Not telling you to warm up the truck first is something my DH would do without even thinking about it. Silly men.

Glad your DD had a good day at the hospital. Hey does she like to read? Cuz if so, maybe if she got an audio book, she could plug in headphones to her phone and be able to ignore all the bemoaning idiots in the waiting rooms. I know you said she does listen to much music or I would suggest that first.

Also really happy that your idiot DH is ok. Lol I was worrying and praying for all 3 of you. How's your back doing?

Curve, sounds like you had a better day. You sound cheerful and more like your old self. Sorry you frightened the sun and blue skies away. Next time we will whisper softer, promise.

Maddy girl, hope you have a great time on Saturday at Knots Berry Farm. Wish I could be there too, but that's mostly just cuz i'd like to meet you. I still don't know who Susan K Gomen is.

CC, i see you in other threads. Come back to us. (((hugs)))

You all are so smart! Red, I had commented earlier to Maddy about Knott's Berry Farm, and what happens today? I totally forgot about it and asked what was going on Saturday. Thank you, for remembering! Geez....where is my brain! Thanks, yes, my DD1 loves to read, in fact their spare room is a library, she has thousands of books, and even worked at the library for yrs (starting as a volunteer at 13. She did take a doll furniture magazine, as well as a tiny doll quilt and tiny doll dress she is making for the "Hitty" doll she hand carved (movable legs/arms too). She went to a doll carving class last year, and carved it, which was 3-4 days, and about 2 hrs away so she stayed in a motel. She had her heart set on going to it again this year, but she will be near the end of her treatments, so prolly won't get to go. PLUS, the nurse didn't want her using a carving knife!! Her blood counts were low, so they gave her a shot that is supposed to help.

OMG, I don't envy you gals that have to shovel snow!!!

edit: I was interrupted and by the time this got posted, CC had beat me to it!! BUT my word works with your word too, so, whew, its ok. Love your word btw CC....you got creative!!! I have not been able to think of creative words for awhile, and its fun to see something different.

@CC, I'd rather have "hat hair" than no hair at all. I never realized until now how much my hair kept the cold winter drafts off the back of my neck. It has just been rain today, it's much too warm to snow, but even if it did and I had a warm neck, no shoveling for me. I don't have any chains for my car, so when it snows I don't drive, and I don't need to shovel just for walking. Anyway, most times it snows here, it will go away if you wait a few hours. We only get snow that sticks and stays for days every few years, not every winter.

@RedReading, yeah, I am feeling more cheerful as I recover from whatever-it-was. I think that's a great suggestion about the audiobooks. I don't have a player I can take to my infusions,
but if that same person will often be there at the same time as wahine's DD, the book (or music) and speakers will shut her out. With depression and anxiety and a lot of treatment still to come, it's not helpful for her to be stuck listening to Mrs Gloom-n-doom for hours on end. Before I retired, my desk was in a group of four cubicles, and the guy kitty-corner from me was a real Mister Negative, always complaining about something and down on everybody. I'd get tense just from listening to him go on & on even though our work was not related at all. What a relief when he left! I hope he was happier in his next job, but I wasn't sad to see him go.

@wahine, I live near Olympia, and yeah it is pretty here—I think there is nowhere like it in the spring. I still remember one of the first times I came up here from the Bay Area in CA and saw rhododendrons growing next to I-5. Down there rhododendrons have to be coddled and babied because the soil and water are not alkaline and they need both to be acid, so to see them growing next to the freeway ramps really blew my mind! Glad to hear your DD got through her treatments today. Isn't your dog almost finished with the heartworm treatment? When you don't have to keep them separated, that will be all to the good—one less complication to deal with.

@2TA, I am still waiting for the countertop to come and be installed. That, and a few other small items, will (finally!) complete the main remodel, but there is still some work to be done outside: new gutters, exterior paint, and landscaping. All of that will have to wait until later in the spring, and the painting maybe even until summer so the walls are really dry. It's no use painting a damp house! I hope the weather this weekend is everything you wish for.

Curve, When we went to Olympia one day, they were having a craft fair or something, and it was such fun. Food, crafts, etc. We also went up once to tour the brewery. When I first saw your city, I was so impressed, I thought if I wanted to relocate someday, Olympia would be at the top of my list. I like the water around Tacoma, but I didn't like the narrow streets and all the strip malls, and congestion that were there. Glad the remodel is so much closer to being finished! I meant to ask you what you have found, as far as warm hats. My DD already says the regular knitted caps are too scratchy. And she has not lost any hair, but her skin is already very sensitive. I wondered if I should get some really soft yarn and see if I can figure out how to knit again (its been years)! SO I wondered if you have found some really soft ones?

Well, on this "eating plan" I get so hungry sometimes. Tonight I didn't even leave a scrap of food on my plate!

Hey Curve, what do you mean, you don't have a player? Do you have a cell phone or an ipad, kobo, Kindle, PlayBook, tablet or something? Cassette player or portable cd player? Those you would have to buy the cd for tho. You can get audio books for all of those. You don't need any special PARTS for them. I do all my stuff on my cell. It's why I have a problem with doing my word in bold. I just haven't figured it out yet.
