New Want To Play A Word Game

wow, CC, I don't know if I could deal with such cold temperatures. I used to work in an outdoor job and remember one day when the tempeatures were in the 20's with a pretty stiff wind. I think they said with wind-chill it was equivalent to 5 degrees. That was as cold as I ever want to be! We do sometimes get Arctic air masses coming down out of Canada but usually they just keep the temperature below freezing, not down into the single digits. I am talking about the west side of Washington and Oregon. Once you get over the crest of the Cascade range, you are in a whole different climate zone. It gets much colder on the east side than it does here.

Thanks CC, I know....that fosomax has had some bad lawsuits, etc. Even though we filled the script, I may try to see my spine dr and get his opinion of it. My PCP wanted me to take it just 2 yrs, and it seems most of the bad effects have been when its taken longer, but you never know. IF you want to tell me more about it, you can PM me, ok?
We are getting real cold weather this week too..down to 5, with wind chill of -10. Tomorrow will be warm though, before the front heads in. Still have Molly inside, she rests all day, which is what she needs to do, for 6 more weeks. We bring Maverick into the garage when the temps drop. When we do, we have to be sneaky and take Molly into another room, so they don't see each other when bringing Mav thru the house. They had always been together their entire lives, so this is hard on them, but she cannot get excited till the heartworms are all out of her system, as these injections were very strong.
Stay safe, stay warm!!!!

Hello ladies.
I have some super good news but first a bit of back story.
Back in Oct, before bc, my DH, myself and 2 other couples that we just love to pieces arranged to go away together in Feb. Unfortunately, with my dx and subsequent treatments, it was no longer an option for this couple.
But yesterday I was looking at the calendar and yearning for someplace warm and sunny when I noticed a little tiny window in time where I had no treatments or appointments, it wasn't a payroll week nor was it month end. So online I go!
Amazingly, the place we wanted to go had a sale on the day I had chosen. Called my DD, can you house and pet sit? Yes! Called my boss, can I have the time off? Yes! Booked the trip for DH + I. Then called my friends. One couple says maybe yes. It looks doable, gotta figure out the finances. The other said maybe yes, if they can get the time. So I'll know if we are going alone or with the two couples tomorrow.
Either way, I have completed all the STEPS I need to, and we are headed to the Caribbean!

Awesome news Red! Now pull out all the stops and have a super duper vacay!!!! Sooooo very happy for you, that is wonderful news!!!!

Thanks Kat. I will miss all the POSTS for a whole week though. That makes me sad. But warmth and sunshine make me happy! I am so tired of -35 I could spit!

@RedReading, that sounds like fun. All my ancestors on my dad's side of the family and one of my mother's grandparents came from the Caribbean—Barbados to be specific. Are you flying there, or taking a cruise? Which ports will you sail into if you're cruising?

Not cruising Curve, just headed for a nice beach and all you can drink and eat included. I was serious when I said I was going to miss posting with everyone tho. I guess I'll just have to STRAP on my big girl panties and try not to miss everyone too much.

Red, Just ask some locals (or front desk) for an internet cafe, that is reasonable. NOT those that are tourist traps. Then you can post here!

Well, may not be all fun and games, they're calling for some rain that particular week so my DH suggested we bring umbrellas and TARPS so we can still sit on the beach. It'll be 80 and I don't melt in the rain, so it will be fine.
Tomorrow is my first appt with my medical oncologist. We do it a bit different in Canada, so it's FD then BS, then op, then Radiological Oncologist then medical oncologist. You guys would have seen them all before the op, if I have that right. Unless you're young or have a very large bc then you would get chemo first. I think.
Anyway, pocket party!! Appt is at 9, so load up early. Love you ladies.

@RedReading, what is FD? It sounds like treatment in Canada follows roughly the same pattern as mine did here. I saw my primary care physician, who sent me for a biopsy and diagnostic mammogram, then saw the surgeon a few times before I actually had surgery. I got to skip the RO because I had a mastectomy. I also saw a medical oncologist before my surgery, but I had to ask for that appointment. I wanted to get at least a rough overview of treatment at the start—I felt so blind and lost until I had made some kind a mental roadmap of what steps would be involved. I think ordinarily I wouldn't have spoken with the oncologist until after surgery. I don't know if I would have met the RO before surgery if I'd had a lumpectomy.
One thing that sounds different is who gets chemo before surgery. I think in the US this is mainly done to shrink large tumors, making it possible to remove some that might have been inoperable, or to do a lumpectomy instead of mastectomy for a large tumor. In my case with a primary tumor just under 2cm, it wasn't even suggested to me.
What is pocket party? Whatever it is, enjoy your trip!

OK, so an FD is a family doctor, you called yours a primary physician I think. And yes in Canada people with large tumors have them reduced before surgery. But I have also talked to a lot of girls who were given chemo because they were young. The theory I think is still to shrink and reduce, but it also seems to have something to do with the immune system in young women. Not sure exactly, so don't take me as an authority. I'll ask some of my Cdn girls.
A pocket party is when all your bc friends climb into your pockets to be there with you when something important is happening. My appt tomorrow RATES. Generally, this involves lots of tiny beer bottles and wine glasses and teeny tiny canapes. It can get quite messy in the old pockets, but if you twirl about 3 times, poof the mess dissappears.

@RedReading, if that's what a pocket party is, everyone is invited to go from your pockets tomorrow to mine the next day, because I have an appointment with my oncologist to find out the results of the past two months of chemo. Until then my goal is not to scare myself with expecting the worst. I am a bit down but I hope it is just because my back is bothering me and fatigue from the taxol and last week's "fun with Zometa" are starting to wear me down. Enough griping.

And instead of feeling like we are at the races running from Red's pockets to Curve's pockets, we'll just borrow the UFO from the lounge at the drinking thread. It will pick us up and get us to our next destination in a minute. AND it is stocked with liquor too. Hoping for good news from you two tomorrow and on Wednesday!

I like the pocket party craze! Great support there. Red, in your pocket tomorrow, Curve's on Wednesday, Wahine, need to split myself and be in your pocket on a constant basis!
Hoping this new year brings health, happiness and love to everyone!

I know, Maddy, it sure has been crazy around here! My DD2 (with the tongue cancer) has been without heat for several days, their heat pump went out. Every time the repair guy came over he thought he had fixed it, so the new unit gets installed today. And we have had temps below 0, and wind chills of -10. Will get into the 20's today....heat wave! lol.
Red, hope we are not being too loud. I keep trying to get these girls to quiet down....lol. They are enjoying this booze....and beer....and wine....while I am being the chaperone. Yeah, right! More like the other way around....lol. Anyway, praying for GOOD NEWS for you today!!! Let us know, ok?

OMG I am late, I am late, I am late, for a very important date! I baked a birthday cake and will carry it to you today, Maddy! Happy Happy Belated Birthday to you, dear friend!!!

CC, I will try to hurry, as long as I do not run into Larry. He would talk my ear off!! lol

oh, Wahine, thank you that was so sweet!! Truthfully, that was the only cake I got for my b-day. My birthday was what I made of it.
My DD and her BF are off to Hawaii (Oahu) tomorrow. My DH and dad seem to think he will ask her to marry him there and she'll be coming home with a diamond ring. It's also her birthday before they return. We'll see.
Wishing the best for you and DD2. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!
Hugs!

Omg my dad's name is HARRY, not Harold or any thing else, just harry which rhymes with Larry and tarry.
Thanks for being in my pockets today. I put crystals in them to represent you girls. Citrine, selenite, snowflake obsidian and lipolidite, then wore amethyst and clear quartz on my wrist. I heard you partying in there but I ignored you so I could concentrate on what the MO was saying. I did notice that she and the nurse kept looking around trying to identify the clinking sound.
Well, here goes. Good news and bad. I liked my MO, her name is name is Nadia. She spoke in layman's terms without being condescending. She's nice.
Bad news - first question out of her mouth was, why had I chosen to have only 1 of the 4 tumors removed. I said, what 4 tumors? I am now the subject of a medical investigation. Apparently, the radiologist identified 4 cancer suspicious lumps and recommended biopsies on each, but they only did one, so that's what my BS operated on. Sigh.
OK enough of that.
Maddy I did say happy birthday (twice now I believe on different sites - the 5th was it?) but I'll go once more if you will. Happy birthday!
Kat's already got the UFO on standby, so we'll be there with you curve. We'll try not to make too much noise, but all the alcamahol sometimes makes that tough! Lol.
Good luck tomorrow my friend.

Oh No, Red...that is REALLY awful, like medical malpractice awful, but that takes too much energy and could cause you more stress. Was this surgery in November? If so, I am hoping not too much time has passed, and that they have not grown any. Geez, we put our lives in the hands of these doctors! I hope you will hurry and get them taken out, if thats what they recommend. Not fun having more surgery, but you were going to need rads and chemo too, is that right? Well I am sorry I just have too many questions. I am just fumboozled, discombobulated, and plain funcused about this. Is this MO ( medical oncologist?) going to be the one doing your other tx? I am so glad you like her, and that she was very nice too. But I am heartbroken that you had surgery and they only took 1 of 4 tumors out. (((((Red)))))
And Maddy, hugs for you too....sounds like you should have spent your birthday with us! (((((Maddy))))). And how awesome if your DD gets engaged in Hawaii!!!

hi Red, PLEASE accept my sincere apologies! Seems like my CRAFT (can't remember an f'ing thing) disease big time! Gets worse when I get stressed.
I wish I had partied with you all! Would have been more fun and a whole lot less lonely. Just didn't think to bring my iPad.
Red, feeling so badly for you! How could that have happened? Sounds like maybe a law suit is in the air. Do you have copies of all your reports? Would start collecting and documenting everything going on.
Sometimes, when life isn't a happy time, it's great we have each other and our furry friends

hi all,
Can I play? One the presents I gave my not legally true granddaughter for Christmas was a Furby. Watching her play with the Furby and the baby Furby and her iPad had all of the adults laughing till we almost lost it.

Bride, welcome! Looks like you got the hang of it! Sounds like a fun time was had by all! When she was playing with the Furby, did she play basketball, football, soccer or rugby?
0 -
Oh yes, welcome, bride! Glad you are joining us here....we do have fun in spite of what goes on in our lives. My g'dau wanted a furby too, but didn't get one. We gave the kids and grandkids money this year, so they could get what they wanted, and because I didn't have time to shop! But oh yeah, if she does play rugby with it, at least there are no grubs outside right now that might interfere. But come spring......lol....

Thanks Maddy and Kat. I appreciate the virtual hugs. Lol.
Well, I am looking forward to my trip and when I come back, most results should be in. I'm going to try not to overthink it too much.
Welcome bride. You do seem to have the hang of it. I enjoy word games but my DD BRAGS that she is the best in the family. I personally think my DS's wife is the best but I'll never tell her that!
Have a nice evening everyone.

Red, enjoy your trip, leave your troubles behind and just have fun! Hoping the weather is nice for you,
Sounds like you DS chose a great wife. I wish my DS had done the same. My DIL is very self-centered and drags him down. Yes, she is a true biyotch and glad they live halfway across the country. She never acknowledges me in any way.

Great idea Red, to concentrate on your trip and try not to obsess over the results till you get back. Just think, it will be WARM and you can lie on the sand, or even on the grass!
OK, now the UFO will take us to be with Curve....get ready Curve, we are on our way......
oops i just saw that maddy was quicker typing that i was, so let me think of another word that will work with the last word....give me a few minutes...
0 -
OK, I am ready now!
Maddy, that is sad about your DIL. Both of my DD's have good husbands, and I am thankful for that. They don't drink, don't smoke, and don't do drugs, among other things. And they have good jobs, so my DD's can be homemakers, and also home school their kids.
