I think I might start to post here again. It has been a long time...Hi Ladies
0 -
Zogo, great to have you back! I promise not to stare

Hey zogo, long time no see! I'm so busy working on my genealogy these days that I don't visit bco as often as I used to, but I can spare a few minutes to say hi and make a word.

It's nice to speak to you all again. Life gets busy and the summer is so short. Gotta pack all the fun in the sun we can manage.
We have "Summerfest" going on here. The World's Largest Music Festival. Over 700 bands on 11 stages over 11 days. Whew I'm tired already and there are still 6 days to go.

This keeps me interested zogo....are you actually attending the shows ala Woodstock...Lollapalooza....you must be much younger than me!!!

Ronnie, (I'm 53) we have a Power Pass to go all the days if we want. Then pick and choose the bands we want to see. Some of the good ones so far have been Kansas, The Arctic Monkeys, St Lucia, Rick Springfield, Neon Trees, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Clay Walker, Pentatonix and a great Billy Joel cover band called 52nd St. Looking forward to Bonnie Raitt tomorrow. The best part is that you can get close enough so that the artist doesn't look like a speck on the stage.
My son was lucky (or talented) enough to get the chance to play there a few times some years ago.

Deb PEEKS out at everyone and says hi!

Last nite was fireworks night for Canada Day and my hubby surprised me with sparklers which we waved around spelling our names in the darkness. Do you guys do that on Independence Day too?
Anyway our fun was ended when our dog tried to catch a SPARK in her mouth. I think she was more shocked than anything but after that she went and curled up by the door. So it was beddy bye for all of us.
Hi 2TA, thanks for the welcome back.
Hi everybody. As Arnie would say.... I'm baaaaaacckk. lol

red, sounds like your Canada Day is like our 4th of July/Independence Day. Looking forward to stories and photos. We don't have fireworks or sparklers here legally where I live as it's so dry and we'll be very prone to fires this year.
Not that I want to change the mood on this thread, but sometimes chit happens. Have spent the last 36 or so hours dealing with the reality that we have to place mom immediately in Alzheimer's/assisted living. The disease has progressed so rapidly in the past 3 weeks since I last saw her. Dad can no longer care for her. Visited the new facility, dad toured today, left deposit (she's #60 of 60 max occupancy), see gerontologist on Tues (first day we could get) to get dr eval paperwork done. Dad is devastated. Life is such a craps shoot (best way I work it into a sentence)

It seems like every day we have to STRAP on our big girl panties and deal with another crisis. WTF. Sorry about your mom Maddy. I'm glad you were able to find her a new place so quickly.

Thanks, Red, a lot of the work had been done for us. Parts of me are sad about this, but am partly relieved that Dad will not have to struggle with her every day and he can finally get respite, sleep, and a bit of a more normal life.

I had a little SPURT of energy this weekend and got lots done. But now I'm tired, so I'm off to bed. ((hugs))

2TA, you sure are a good sport for getting your mom all settled in a new place. I'm sure all will be relieved to know she is safe.
(My dad died of Lewy Body Dememtia and I know how truly awful it is...hugs)

uh-oh, it's quarter to midnight. If I try to I think of a way to get from zogo's word to the one I have in mind, I might be up half the night, so I'll just tell you. The new word is troop.

Zogo, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Just heard the heard Lewy Body Dementia for the first time last. So much to learn.
Will be meeting my parents tomorrow to take mom for eval with geriatric specialist and evaluation for proof of her various levels of functioning so we can move mom. This whole thing is taking it's toll on me.

I hope it all goes well at the evaluation Maddy. And quickly too.
This is a pic of a village in Tuscony that I took from the turret of a castle. All of the ROOFS are made of clay. They really do crowd their houses together.0 -
Here's to a good visit with the doctor. I hope everything goes smoothly and there are no hang-ups or delays getting your mom moved.
What a cool picture, 2TA. Is the floor of each house covered with beautiful ceramic tile?

thanks Red and Curve! Thanks for sharing the photo.
I love the color of that tile, it looks so pretty.

Hope the meeting with geriatrician goes well. That's how we got the LBD diagnosis on my dad. He had symptoms of Alz plus some Parkinson's symptoms like a shuffle walk and vivid dreams and sometimes hallucinations. It sucked!
I'm doing a colon prep today for a flex sig scope tomorrow. Oh Joy. Having a hard time looking at my Low Carb food sites on FB. Everything looks good when you're on clear liquids.

Nothing COOLS your appetite when you've been told you can't eat Zogo. It seems to just ramp it up. I can go a very long time without eating. But tell me I can't and I'm suddenly hungry.
I never got to go into a personal home while there Curve, so I really don't know, but the public ones all had marble mosaic floors. They were lovely.

Venice is one of a kind! Who are those men, Red? Anyone you know? My husband might scold me if he saw me drooling at your post!
0 -
Oh no, those are gondeliers. No reason for jealousy, your husband can relax. They were just looking to make some SOLID coin for the day and let me take their picture.

Gonna slide right in for a bit. Been busy yesterday and today and still have a bit to do before I can sleep.
Zogo, how did the colonoscopy go? Hoping you're back to normal and your results come out clean (pardon the pun). Thought the prep was worse than the procedure. About LBD: just learning about that (and frontotemperal Alzheimer's). The new facility won't allow patients with either to live there. So sorry what you had to go through that, sounds like it would be difficult to watch your loved ones with either. Appt was interesting: nurse refused to let me talk with doctor with my dad and mom, but had an opportunity to sneak in. Dr wasn't upset with me there, and thought I asked good questions. Then got to meet with a wonderful social worker who was very helpful.
Still have to navigate the process (paperwork). We may be moving mom on Friday.
Now let's return to vacations, travels and fun stuff!

I've got a big smile today as the colon scope was all clean and I go back for a full one in a year. When I was 50 and had my first colonoscopy, they found stage 1 colon cancer on a polyp. I tell all my friends and anyone who will listen, if it's not awkward, that it's not as bad as it sounds and catching it early makes all the difference. I didn't have to do chemo or radiation or surgery. Just lots of scopes. Since it was at 10 cm in, sometimes they only check the lower part. The last 2 times I didn't even use anesthesia for the sigmoid scope. Sooo much easier, that stuff makes me loopy!
ok, now let's go on vacation...where are we off to??
0 -
Congratulations on the "all clear", zogo! I haven't made any plans to go away on vacation, but I'm sure now you are done with the c-scope and won't have to go on a liquid diet until a year from now, you'll go somewhere you can get delicious meals. Last time I had a colonoscopy, I was ravenously hungry afterwards from going so long on such short rations during the prep.

yay, Zogo, that's great news! As for a vacation, I would love a destination not too far away, yes, great meals, would love to be pampered and require no effort on my part. Spa would be great, as long as I don't have to wear a small swim suit.
