    Hi Tamoxitrainers,

Oh Susie that picture is precious.  I loved it and felt it too !!!!!   Bet we all did.  I am in that crazy phase I guess we all get in at this time of year wondering if I'm going to make it on time.  I haven't done my cards either.  Had all intentions of doing them but didn't get to it.  Oh well.  I haven't received that many either so I know I'm not alone.

I want to welcome the newcomers too.  We are a very active group I'll say that.  And we care about each other.  That's even better.

So glad that many of you enjoyed the doggie tale.  Michelle you have a big pet family.  Bet you get lots of love from them.  They are so giving.

Time to hit the hay or at least go in that direction.

    Bonnie

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for your welcome! Kelly is right, I start feel at home even now. Smile

Thanks for sharing your experience of taking tamoxifen with me too! I filled it today. After coming home I stared at it for quite some time, then read the info. again. (Just like Hannahbearsmom!) Susie, your picture really mede me laugh so much. Being a medicinal chemist myself I just don't like the chemical structure of the drug at all. So knowing too much is not good either.  I guess I'll wait for a week or two before starting taking it. I missed my period even before tamoxifen!  My gyn oncologist said it might be the mastectomy.

    Happy Hanukkah, MTG!

By the way, I haven't started my cards yet!

Hi Everyone!  I can't keep up with the thread.  It moves too fast for me sometimes.  I hope I don't miss someone.

Welcome to the new riders, Liz and Kelly, Peg and Silvia.  If I missed someone, just yell at me.  If someone isn't new, just ignore me.  LOL

It has been a long day.  I did some shopping and the stores were nuts.  I didn't think it would be so busy during the week, but, it seems everyone chose today.  Frown  I didn't even get that much!

Happy Hanukkah MTG!   Glad to have you back.

Susie, that picture  HAHAHAHAHA    Love it!

Liz, I stared at the tamox bottle awhile too.  Then, just took it one day.  When you are ready you will.  No rush.

I loved your poem Bonnie.  Love animals!  Except mice or squirrels.  I think that is it for my dislikes.

    Good Morning!

I am doing it backwards to all of you...I have my cards done, and haven't started my shopping!!  Yes, I know crazy but I have a feeling I will learn my lesson when I do have the opportunity to hit the stores this weekend! Yikes!!!  This Christmas just kind of snuck up on me for some reason! LOL!

Lex ~ Thank you for the welcome, I am enjoying being a part of you ladies it makes all this a little less lonely! Smile

MTG ~ Happy Hanukkah to you and your family!

Liz ~ I do feel for you, knowing too much can be difficult.  I guess that a major surgery can "shock" the body and have it do weird things. Right after the surgery I found my hair coming out in clumps and was told that it was probably the surgery and stress.

    Have a wonderful day!!

    Kelly :)

    Hi All,

I'm seeing a pattern here of us all being on that same Christmas treadmill I'm on in one way or another.

I'm swearing without bad words to do my cards today.  I stated it yesterday....and didn't do it.  So I've decided to use force with ME.  LOL

And I have a shopping trip on for tomorrow to FINISH my shopping.  But I did tell a good friend "finish"  or give up....meaning gift certificates.  But I'm going to try.

I'll give a report of how much I've accomplished.  That might put me more on the spot.  Foot in mouth

    Good Luck To Me.  :o)

The Hot Flash picture cracked me up. Love it! Laughing

I am nearing the end of my first Tamoxifen bottle and so far I have to say I am doing well. I had a couple days where I felt nauseous and I had a flash back last week but other than that no issues. Is it too early to have SEs?

I did have to switch my trazadone for a different medicine because my Onc said it inteferes with Tamox. He told me after 2 weeks of taking Tamox..not sure why he had not caught it before. I used the Trazadone for sleep but was given something else in place of it and it is working just fine. So far, I have not gained any weight. I have lost a pound and a couple inches around the waist and other parts of the body but I think that is because I have been doing heavy weight lifting and cardio 5 days a week. I have been eating cleaner too. I am hoping I can get back to my pre-chemo weight while taking Tamoxifen. I am praying all the hard workouts and eating cleaner help!

    Have a great day everyone!

Oh Bonnie I so relate to you.  I was thinking that I might just have to do gift cards, but that is so impersonal Its just that I am at such a loss.  I have heard of chemo brain, is their such a thing as tamox brain? Seriously, I just can't seem to think straight these days! I am confident you will get your cards done!! Wink

Yasminv, I am so glad you are doing well on the tamoxifen!  May I ask, you say you are "eating cleaner", please can you explain what you mean I have heard the term before but I am unsure what that means?  I'm thinking it means no junk, no sugar or processed foods, and only organic products? Smile

    take care,

    Kelly :)

Marlenet, I am so sorry that you have this scare.  I am sending you prayers that everything will be alright.  Please let us know when you can.

Hi Peg.  I can't keep up with this thread either.  I had hoped it wasn't just me.  lol  And, this time of year is busy anyway, and, I am not a great multitasker.   I am glad the soap helped you.  I thought you were suppose to unwrap it though.  ?????

Wow Kelly, you go girl!  That is a lot of walking!  That is great!  Did you get your cards done?  And, I don't have chemobrain, but, I do have radbrain and I use that excuse a LOT.

Happy that you had a good time in Florida MTG.  I bet your Dad had a great birthday!  Enjoy your parents all that you can!    And, windows 98???  It still exists?  LOL  sorry  I have dial up, so, I shouldn't be laughing. Frown

Did you get your cards done Bonnie?  How about your shopping?  I got 3 cards done..lol  Still have shopping to do.  I can't find the time!!!!  HELP

Yasminv1, I am glad that you are doing so well on tamox.  I think I am too, but, I haven't been on it that long either.  But, maybe we will be lucky and not have many se's???  And, you have lost weight?  Congrats on that!

So, the hot flash pic was funny?  Glad you all liked it.

CatbirdC:Lots of luck to you in your shopping adventure today!!

I am a member of the "have cards but haven't sent them out yet"clubTongue out. I've told myself every day this week that I am going to get to them .MUST do today!!

According to our local weather foercast, we could be getting hit with snow today/tonight--not the norm in central NC in December. My daughter is ecstatic! School is geting out early in anticipation of bad roads. I would love to see some snow since I don't have to get out and drive in it. I went to the store last night to buy all my baking supplies, so I am prepared.

Hope everyone has a terrific day and to those of you who are going through treatments I will be thinking about you and praying for you.

Love the cartoon!!  It is me, too...     I LOVE champagne!!!

Hope everyone is having a smooth ride on this Tamoxi train today!!

Ok tamoxibeauties, here are some Holiday Eating Tips that I live by!  lol

    1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Holiday spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

    2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare.. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

    3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

    4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

    5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Holiday party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

    6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do.. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

    7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

    8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

    9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

    10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate and wine in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Have a Merry Christmas & a great holiday season!!

    Love, Susie

susie - I did unwrap the soap.  Beginning to think it is all in the mind.  I had terrible foot and toe cramps all night last night even though the soap was still there.

Marlenet - hope everything comes out okay for you.  It is scary and not quite right.

I send a Christmas letter out and just got it done.  I actually sent a lot of them by email this year since postage is so high.

Got most of my shopping done and now just need to get more baking done.  peanut brittle and fudge.

Love the Holiday guide but unfortunately if I really ate like that I would weigh 20 extra pounds when the holiday was done.

Susie...  WHOHOO!!   LOVE it!!  Thanks for posting!!  I don't like fruitcake, either!  LOL

    Kelly,

I always say "BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!!!"   I got them posted, but I wonder if my family will get them in time for Christmas??    Yes, I am also in the minority, on the champagne...  but every chance I get, I drink it!!!    I got so sick the night after my wedding, cause NO ONE told me that they were going to follow me around all afternoon, and refill my champagne glass!!   LOL  AND, I drank it ALL!!!

I'm going for a bone density test on Tuesday...  YAY!  I just want to get it over with!!, as soon as possible, so I can get back to celebrating.....

    Thanks Buddies,

I don't feel inadequate when I come here and read that you all are having the same holiday woes as me.  And we're all       g   r   a   d   u   a   l   l   y      getting there one foot in front of the other.

I'm going to give myself a silver star on my shopping trip !!!!!   I'm just hoping we don't get snowed in now and might not still get to finish the last few things.  We've only had 3" here but it isn't stopping either so ?????  They.....whoever "they" are on tv are saying we will be spared a huge snow as it turns south of us.  "They"  don't always make "gold or even silver star"  predictions, so I'll just wait and see.

HannahBear and Kelly.....I'm with you that my cards are now 98% done..... I think I'll remember to mail them....LOL.....but who knows  !!!!!!!!!

Susie....You're eating tips are great.  One of my plump relatives always said....If it tastes good, it's not good for you.  So true.

    White Christmas?   Looking that way.

I do have my cards out but my daughter wanted us to wait until she got home to get out tree.  We usually go out and cut down a live one.  It didn't make sense to me and my hubby to do that with only one week so we set up some tiny fake ones instead.  Put the piano bench up on the window seat, covered it with the Christmas tree skirt and put 3 ten inch trees on top of it.  We will put the presents underneath.  Seemed like it took a whole lot less energy that for this year seems like a good thing.  Stopped to see our 73 year old neighbor lady today.  She had a lumpectomy, started on Airidex ? and has a week of rads down.

Hi Gals!  I usually post on "Older Women with BC"...but I am going back to the surgeon tomorrow for a check-up!  I had the lumpectomy 2 weeks ago, followed by the 5 day MammoSite delivery type of Radiation...So that is done...

But is it your choice to take Tamoxifen?  Does the surgeon prescribe it for you, or do you have to go see an Oncologist?  I had clear margins, with 3 nodes taken, but all clear...I am asking, because I have always had so much trouble with rashes, hives, from EVERYthing I take.  I know Tamoxifen helps "prevent" cancer from recurring?  Is it an added assurance we won't get cancer again?   If it is, all I can do is try it.... And if I DO have to take it, is there a generic?  And is it very expensive through your insurance?

Yes, I'll ask my Doctor all the questions too, but you women, have been such a HUGE help in getting through this...Thanks!  Jeannette

    Hi EVERYBODY,

Jeannette....it was my onc that suggested and prescribed the Big T.  And the one I take is a generic.

Susie....  Where Art Thou???  No word since your diet tips.  I'm sure you're busy going crazy with all the rest of us.  LOL

We've got about 6 or 7 inches of snow here which isn't bad at all from what I'm seeing to our east.  I  just hope it doesn't spoil anyone's travel plans.

    Take Care.

    Hi Everyone

I'm just popping in to say hi and then I must go!  My hubby and I are taking our girls into the city to do Christmas shopping.  I am so excited as are the girls!

Jeanette~ Like Bonnie my onc suggested and prescibed the Tamoxifen and I too take the generic.  A lot of pharmacies have those prescription plans where you pay a low annual fee and can get various prescription meds inexpensively. I believe Tamoxifen is on that list at Walgreens and Walmart. I would talk to your onc to see if tamoxifen would be appropriate for you.

Peg119 ~ That arrangement of trees sounds lovely.  I too was a little low key with pulling all my stuff out this year.  I have a tree up and a few other items, but did not go too crazy!

Bonnie ~ I'm with you...where is Susie??? LOL!!

Hannahbearsmom ~ I love baking with my daughter, we have such a good time doing it together!

    Have a wonderful day!

    Kelly :)
