Thanks Barbie! Now I'm really glad I promised not to swipe your cool shoes. Sorry you're having a rough time, hope you can find a dosing schedule that helps out. Maybe you'll have to do morning or split the dose in half? I know you meet with your onc soon, so here's hoping hard for a good solution.
Ashaby.... even though one of the listed side effects is dizziness I thought I was the only one...so I'm glad we spoke up with
that one and we all know it's not just us going crazy. It is very odd, but I'm glad they're just so quick.
Off to make some supper. Have a lovely evening girls!

Virginia,
I think your hair looks SO CUTE! I have the chemo curls, too! It also looks like BOZO some days! But that is better than what I had during chemo...I looked like Sluggo!Harley

Donna,
Maybe we could meet at the Legends some time. I haven't gone there yet -- I know it's been open for a long time. Just had no reason to go to that side of town.
Basha,
I love the new pic for your avatar. I wish I could see it better.
And to all you 'dizzy broads' out there (just kidding but it sounded cute), I've had my spells too. I do find it's worse when I'm lying down -- the bed spins and I haven't even been to the bar car!! No fair for sure.
Have a great evening all!!

OMG dc...lolol...that's EXACTLY what I thought at first! My "spells" felt like the bed spins. If I start getting alcohol-free hangovers I'll really be ticked! he he
Not the first time I've been called a dizzy broad either.

Hi everyone ---
So ..... I'm now on day 3 of my tamoxifen and I have been having the worst acid reflux that I have ever had (even during chemo). Have any of you experienced this? I am guessing it is the tamox. -- I took Prilosec this morning hoping to stop this agony.
No hot flashes yet......
Laurie
PS -- I was at Rite Aid yesterday and walked past the Easter clearance candy -- heartburn will do that to you!

Hi ladies I've been riding the train for two full months now. I have a question for you all. Does anyone have muscle cramps in their thighs?? Is this a side effect? My left thigh, the back of it keeps getting this charlie horse and I keep thinking I'm getting a blood clot. I would appreciate if anyone knows about this. Thanks. BTW I was in the salad car but have slipped into the chocolate car several times!! I'm never going to loose this weight uggghhh.

Deb,
In desperation, I put my stereotactic painting in the avatar as I wait for my son to help. He's been very busy.
Yeah, the dizziness can be odd. Now Laurie, the se's on the lit. with Tamox mention nausea, so why not heartburn? I always take it after breakfast. Good luck.
Basha0 -
Kiki - I don't have muscle cramps, but I have a question for you. Do you have them on both sides or just one? My med onc. said that if it is both sides (at the same time), I shouldn't worry. However, if only on one side, I should be seen. Have you had it checked out? I don't mean to be an alarmist, but I wouldn't mess with potential clots.
Basha - you are a very talented artist. Thank you for sharing your work.
Laurie - I don't have acid reflux, but I do have terrible nausea. Drugs.com lists indigestion and vomiting as side effects where the frequency is undetermined. Not exactly acid reflux, but close. I hope this subsides for you very soon.

Hi girls ~ Welp ... day three for me too Laurie, but no S/E so far. I take it before bed and sleep just as well as I ever do. Which really isn't great. Never has been though, so I can't blame it on Tamox. I've got Fibromyalgia so I can't blame all the aches and pains on the Tamox either. And rather than having hot flashes, I've been chilled to the bone for the past couple of days! Don't know if it has anything to do with the Tamox or not? Leave it to me ... to be all back-ass-wards!
What do any of you know about getting a hysterectomy simply because you are on Tamox? I met a woman the other day that said her doc just automatically planned a hyster. as soon as it became clear that she would have to take Tamox. She was post-menopausal though. Would that have something to do with it? I'm pre-menopausal. I'm going to make an appointment with a GYN soon. I've always just gotten my annual pelvic exams with my family practice doc. But now that I'm taking Tamox I've been told I should really be seeing a GYN.

Barbie, it is only one side. I am going to see my onc. today and see what he says.
GardenGirl, my GYN is just keeping an eye on me. TV US's every year she said. I am also premenopausal well at least I was before chemo. I'm waiting for my gene testing to come back before I make a decision about ooph and hyster. I don't think you automatically should have that operation. You should see a GYN though because of the increased risk of uterine cancer.

Kiki - let us know what the onc says today. I hope it is nothing more than nasty muscle cramps. I love your tag line Kiki.
Donna, I haven't had hot flashes, but rather what I call a flush where I feel warm, followed by being chilled. That being said, you may still be back-ass-wards

Well back from the onc. he says all is well. Just cramps, probably from sitting at the computer too long. LOL Guess I'll have to get my butt out for a walk!!

Hi, girls. I've been off the boards. Was out of town at my mom's memorial service.
After a very bumpy first few weeks on the ol' train, I have to say that the tamox se's of dizziness and nausea have settled down. I take the pill at night now, which seems to help a lot. I still have lots of hot flashes at night, but I had those before tamox anyhow. I'm still get random surges of drug induced anxiety, but that seems to be better as well.
Phew! Just wanted to mention that the se's were better so the new girls could have some reassurance. You guys told me things would settle down, and they did.
Harley--hope your MRI's turn out well.

Hi Gals,
Here are 3 more of my BC series.
Love, Basha0 -
Basha, beautiful, simply beautiful!! I wish I were half as talented. Your work truly has your soul in it.

Hi Basha,
I love your artwork. I am trying to get a project underway at Fletcher Allen and would love to talk with you about incorporating your artwork. If you are interested, can you e-mail me with your e-mail address: lkracine@comcast.net.
Did any of you notice mood changes on the tamoxifen?

Hi, fellow passengers--
I've been reading this week but not posting much...so much going on the last week of the quarter. Welcome, new ladies, and hi to everyone else. It's too overwhelming to respond individually to all, so I'll do the best I can.
Basha, you're so talented! Love your artwork...thanks for sharing. Hope your son is doing better.
Harley, keep us posted on your MRI results. Thinking of you...
Someone asked about cramps in the legs...I've noticed a lot more cramps--or almost cramps--since I've been on tamox. It can be really uncomfortable. I hate it, but if it doesn't get any worse...
I'm a rarity...I went swimming on Monday afternoon, and threw my hip out doing the breast stroke kick. Major pain...just like a couple of years ago when my arthritis started. Ack...the most low-impact exercise on the planet and I hurt myself. Sheesh. I exercised on the elliptical machine on Tues. and all was well. Then I was on my feet all day (and I do mean all day) on Wed., with an evacuation drill and a visit by Japanese kids after school. More major pain! I went for my acupuncture/acupressure treatment last night and he stuck me a hundred times...I feel much better today, thank heavens. Once again--proof that exercise is bad for you. :-)
Saturday morning I leave for my trip to Cambodia...I can't wait to see the Angkor temples! It should be really fun--equal parts sightseeing and sitting by the pool. It seems like just what the dr. ordered.
Thinking of all you train companions...I spent time today in the chocolate car; I need to be denied entrance and escorted bodily to the salad bar car. Wish you were all here to see the fabled cherry blossoms--they're just breathtaking. We had our school picnic in the park, and it was so beautiful--the weather, the kids playing, and a magical backdrop.
Take care--enjoy your day! I'm ready for bed...

Thanks Nash, and Lynn,
I will be seeing my surgeon tomorrow. I know I got myself all worked up, and probably over nothing. But I have never had this kind of pain before. I thought people usually had back problems all their lives, and it wasn't something that would just start when we get old... I know, I am getting old!
I don't know if I mentioned it here, but a few weeks ago, I decided that it would be a good idea to flip our mattress over.... DUMB idea! So, maybe that is what set this 'sciatica' episode off.
Thanks for all the warm thoughts & prayers.

Basha ~ OMG! I LOVE your paintings! They really touch my heart. I wonder if any woman who hasn't gone through these things would feel the same emotion when viewing the paintings? They definately remind me of the fright, the helplessness, the looking in the mirror time and time again at my scars, bruises, burns .... But I enjoy the feelings the paintings invoke. They make me feel strong and make me feel as if I have a place in a special group of amazingly resilent women.
Have you sold any? Have you thought about having them published in some sort of BC literature? It would be cool to see one hanging in a doctor's office or something.

Hey Deb ~ I would love to meet you out at The Legends sometime! I go out there frequently. We'll have to pick a nice day though. It's not much fun out there when it's cold, rainy, or really windy.

EHK,
I am also on wellbutrin. You mentioned some controversy about it...what? I'm curious. I think it's defintiely helping with the emotional ups and downs. I was on lexapro for about 6 wks and someone on these threads said that lexapro is contraindicated w/ tamox. I asked my onc and sure enough it makes the tamox ineffective! I can sure tell the difference too. Lots of hot flashes and night sweats!

Hi--
I'm leaving in the morning for a five-day trip to Cambodia, so I wish everyone well. Take good care, and don't give away my seat on the train...I'll be back!

Lynn- Have a GREAT trip!! Can't wait to hear all about it! Be safe!!
Basha- your artwork is amazing...I agree with everyone, very tempting and moving!! You have a very special talent!!
Harley- will be waiting to hear RE your appt today...
I don't remember who asked about the charlie horse SE, but I noticed that on tamox I get them in my calves with much greater frequency... OUCH! I hate charlie horses...
Today I had my first Herceptin infusion alone...my sister has been with me for every single infusion and today she had to take care of my Dad. I didn't mind, but she was really upset to leave me. Oh well, these will end in July.... Don't really want to wish my life away, but I can't wait 'til July!!
Ok girlies...yesterday I ate 10 different dishes at a local restaurant. then came back to the labs and scarfed down a handful of chocolate mini-eggs. Curses...all those lbs I lost are coming back on!!
Have a great weekend all!!!!

Hi Mamhop ~ Thanks for writing! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only back-ass-wards girl on this train! Yes ... I definately am having chills.
I've just been on Tamox for about 5 days now. It's just about time for my menstruation to begin and I definately feel the PMS. I wonder if I will stop menstruating at some point? I would LOVE that!
