Well called my PCP this morning and they got me in this afternoon.  He always does a very thorough exam.  Anyway he thinks it is inflamation/arthritic caused from my old injury so he put me on a medral pac and said if it is not better in a week to 10 days to let him know and then he will talk to my MO about doing an MRI on me unless there is something else he wants done. Will get my script on the way home from work.  He also said I can continue with the pain meds I have been taking until the medral kicks in. Sure hope this works and I don't need an MRI.

Crews I didn't have a lot of SE either especially the hot flashes like most, so maybe it's withdrawals and your body just needs to wean off......not sure, sorry!

Sherry lets hope what the doctor gave you really helps.....

Hello tammi ladies......hugs and kisses to you all

Just checking in on my favorite bunch of party girls!

Sherri, I sure hope your neck & back get better quickly with the medral and pain pills!

I saw my MO last week, told her about all my symptoms, she told me that prolonged fatigue can happen with chemo, and it can last years!!!! Aaarrggghhhhh!!!!!  I am so tired of being tired!  She offered me some more drugs with more potential SEs (stimulants), so I have declined for the moment, but geez, I wish I could recover from a family get-together in less than 2 days of bedrest!  But I am grateful for the family get-together on Sunday and would not trade!  In any case, I am trying to go off all meds that could be contributing to the fatigue, but it looks like it will take a while.

Other success:  I finished the draft of a syllabus for a course I am teaching beginning next week.  We only got 2 weeks off between final grades due and start of classes, and I have 3 preps (2 brand new courses for me, and coordinating another that I have only taught once before), so have one more syllabus to get a draft done tomorrow, then fine-tune all of them.  It IS fun, but takes time and energy and focus - all of which seem to be fleeting these days! (OK, DH says the mental focus has always been a problem for me... hmmmmm....) Tongue out

    Hugs for everyone tonight.

good evening ladies, am new to your group having just started tamoxifen a few weeks ago now...am def getting more hot flashes like i did on chemo and also some heart palpitations at odd times, have looked up and am gathering this is mostly about your hormones going for a rollercoaster ride? I am 54 and I was premenapausal before chemo, only had one period since chemo...so my onc is treating me like i am still premenapausal and the plan is after a year she thinks i should be safe to go over to an aromatase inhibitor..i also feel a little like i did on steroids, get rosy cheeks that kind of thing...i think i just react to drugs easily..when they used to give me the benadryl in my drip on chemo, i would almost fall asleep within seconds!

crews - I can't help either ... I was on tamox for 3 months and then went straight to Arimidex.  What does your MO say about the withdrawl?

Welcome Louis - You have found a great group of ladies.  They are really supportive and can answer any questions you may have.  I have to warn you - we do tend to get wild and crazy.  Don't be surprised on any given Friday night we have a pillow fight with lots of food and drink. Don't worry though - we will get serious when we need to.

I started tamoxifen three weeks ago.   I have had an ongoing headache and all kinds of muscle cramps... starting in my legs and now in my fingers.   Has anyone else experienced this side effect?

rhonda welcome to our group.  I have not had those SE's but I know others on here have and I am sure someone will chime in.  I did have muscle stiffness in the beginning but my body finally adjusted.

rhonda, welcome! I also had the leg cramps, and then foot cramps, when I first started. They went away after a few months, but came back with a vengeance when I had an ooph 4 months ago. I didn't have headaches, though. I found eating a banana every day helped, as did drinking a glass of tonic water before bed. The quinine in the tonic water relaxes the muscles, so the cramping wasn't as bad. Hopefully these SE's will be short lived for you!

Sherry, how is your neck today? Hope you're feeling better!

Hugs to all my tammi girls!

Welcome Rhonda - I have not had those SEss and it looks like others are helping.  I do have body aches and feel like a 90 year old.

I am not counting but I have 4 years and 11 days to go. I will be so glad when I take that last pill.

Congrats Paula! I bet today is bittersweet in some ways. While it sucks that you had to go thru this at all, I am glad it wasn't alone. Guess we should celebrate with a few drinks and a pillow fight soon....(((hugs)))

Sherry - that is such a mean thing to say!  I'm glad you prefaced her comment by telling us what a mess she is - doesn't make it excusable, but makes it easier to brush off as something said from someone that is just an idiot.  I could share some other stupid things that have been said - as can many others - but just know that it came from someone very messed up and let it go!

We love you and know it's far more than a "boob job" - she a boob for saying it!

Sherry - What a cruel thing she said to you.  Boob job my butt!  I would take her and throw her sorry ass in the bonfire and be done with her.  You don't need that kind of stuff in your life.  You have already been through so much - don't need to add anymore.  (((HUGS)))

Sherry - missed your post as we must have been typing at the same time. That was an awful thing to say but given the source, I agree with MamaV that you need to dismiss it. It sounds like she has other issues besides her lack of tact which is very sad. You clearly are a wonderful person for not just dumping the friendship & walking away despite probably multiple times where you may have wanted to.

    (((HUGS))))

    Hello everyone,

Yah, my wife is doing well with the tamoxifen. She's been taking on it for 2 years now and no SEs at all. She's now 32 years old - THANKS GOD! and having regular menstrual periods. She needs to take the tamoxifen for 5 years. I am so happy that everything went well for her. Guys, I just want to ask your opinion since we're planning to have a baby and if its okay for her to stop temporarily the tamoxifen then proceed with the pregnancy? and decided to continue with her tamoxifen after giving birth? is it okay? we want to have a baby at least coz we're getting old now and we dont want to wait for another 3 years before deciding to have one. DOES ANYONE COULD RELATE to us and SHARE THEIR COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS/EXPERIENCES? Thank you and more power. God bless.

Stage 2, 0 Lymph nodes, Tumor was 2 cm, ER+ PR+ Her2 -, had mastectomy and chemotherapy and now on hormonal therapy Tamoxifen for 5 years.

Paula, congrats on one year!!!! (((HUGS)))

Sherry, what a terrible thing to say to you! She is really messed up, and probably doesn't even know what she said was incredibly rude. But you're right, she created this life for herself, nothing you can do about it. Very sad indeed. On another note, glad to hear the steroids seem to be working for your neck pain. Hope your feeling better soon!

    Hugs to everyone,

    Sandi

Congrats Paula!  You have earned promotion from Captain to Major!!!

Sherry, glad to hear you are having a little relief!  And let's take that BF of yours and toss her into the bonfire... meet you there for a marshmallow roast!

Welcome Rhonda and Louis!  I started tamoxifen last January, had such horrible SEs that I attributed to it that I discontinued it.  I had recurrence in July, so am back on it.  This time, I started with 1/2 dose every other day for a week, then 1/2 every day for a week, then 1 every other day plus 1/2 the other days for a week, then full dose, so worked my way up to full dose and had NONE of the problems I had previously.  This was not exactly the "right" way but my MO said it was better than not taking it at all! The first time I had lots of pain, weakness, flu-like syndrome, headaches, hot flashes, HORRIBLE emotional/mental issues, all of which are pretty much gone, and I don't even complain about the tamoxifen anymore (well, not much, anyway!). And some of my problems may actually have been due to post-chemo stuff that has been like a roller coaster over the past year, some days better, some not so good, but kind of like the stock market, making a slow comeback... LOL

I have sisters (3 of them) coming in for a few days for a girls' retreat and party weekend, so may miss the festivities here, but rest assured, we will drink a few toasts to all of you!

Wow Sherry talk about messed up people and why people like ourselves still converse with those that tend to live a reckless life is beyond me......She knows nothing of the pain you will have to endure to get those boobs.  As MamaV said so nicely SHE IS THE BOOB!!!  You are an amazing person to put up with the likes of her.....

Paula I cannot tell you how thrilled I am you are celebrating 1 year......yipee, sista party Fri night for sure.  Love you HUGS!!!!
