    Virginia,

WAHOO!!!!! All clear!!!  WAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That's great news! Maybe that Wii is having a positive effect on you?!?!? That sounds like good justification to me!

    Basha,

Hope your son is doing better.  Glad the trip to the other side of the pond was a good time.  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.  I'm hoping that Virginia's results are contagious.

Only have a minute so I can't say hi to everyone right now. The new job is going well.  You all are still the best group!  I'll stay current on your posts -- just not too much time to type!

    lol,

YAY!  Congratulations on the ALL CLEAR on your Mammo.!!!

    Basha,

Still thinking of you...  praying for good results, tomorrow!

    Deb,

Glad that you are still liking that new job!  I am STILL looking, but I am sure that something will turn up soon.  I am even considering taking a p/t sales position, temporary for Christmas season.   We shall see!

Thank you so much Barbie, Deb, Harley, Sharon...  I was so nervous this time...  Guess b/c I have finished all my treatments except Tamox, so I was worried.  It's so nice to hear "everything is fine..."

I am itching to buy that Guitar Hero World Tour.  Last night I was dancing around my family room singing in Rock Band...  So pathetic living alone...  If only people could see what an idiot I make of myself in the privacy of my own home!  LOL

Thanks again for the kind words.  Basha...can't wait to hear from you...don't keep us in suspense...

    Hugs to all!!

    Virigina,

I was singing John Denver songs while ironing last weekend....  we all have our quirks!

You know, I think the increased anxiety over tests makes a lot of sense.  But, I think I read somwhere that buying new video games is more effective at releiving test anxiety than meds.  There's data somewhere I'm sure.  So stop by the store on the way home from work.

    All My Dears,

All clear again. I'm having a party for my boobs and it will involve a lot of jiggling, bouncing and maybe a hot bath.

    Basha!  Great news!  Party on!

Virginia, Of course Take me Home... was in my repitoire.  Also other favorites such as Poems, Prayers and Promises, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Matthew, Wild Montana Skies....  I must have been singing JD for over an hour.  It made the ironing go by like nothin.

    Basha,

A big WAHOO to you!  That's great news!  Bounce a little for us at the party!

    Barbie,

Good thing there aren't any long drum solos with JD -- that would be hard to iron to!

    Virginia,

I heard there's a new Wii -- a 'Dancing with the Stars' version.  I'm picturing you now dancing in your living room and still no one outside notices!  YIPPEE! And there's nothing wrong with a little anxiety coming up to tests -- with what we've been through, I'd be worried about you if you WEREN'T a little nervous.  Just as long as you don't let it rule your life, you're good.

    Harley,

A p/t position sounds like a great idea.  I'm only working p/t but I'm hoping to get more hours after the first of the year. You never know what might come of it.  Could open other doors for you.

I actually got a chance to work out yesterday.  Where I am working is also where I work out and my daughter is in a film class there now for the next two weeks on Tues, Thur & Sun, so I'll get to work out while she's in the class.  It's for 10-14 yr olds and it's about tolerance -- their topic is Civil Rights.  They are even going to have a red carpet type event to show the movies. There are several other groups doing films on other aspects of tolerance. Should be a hoot. Won't see the movie until December, but she's excited.

Hope everyone is having a calm Wednesday.

Deb- LOL, kinda sad that you "know me" from the posts!!  I LOVE Dancing with the Stars...  Heard Cloris got the boot last night...missed it as it was bowling night...  I bowled a 162, 182 and a 163...I'm quite proud of that!  :)  I will have to check out that DWTS game though...  I have been mulling over a game with a mat, but I got the Wii fit and all it does is collect dust...  LOL

Yippee, Basha and VA--so happy you got good results!

I'm a big DWTS fan, too--Cloris hung along far too long.  I appreciate the fact that she's 82, but I agreed with the judge who said that Toni Braxton got booted first and was so much better.  I'm pulling for Warren Sapp...he's so cute!  That Brooke is a great dancer, too.

Things have been nuts this week...too busy.  Today we have Educators' Day at school--teachers from the 3 DoDDS schools in town come to our school for a day of teacher-to-teacher inservice.  It's fun, but lots of work.  I plan to go to one session about managing your $$ for retirement--that would assume I still have some $$ for retirement, though.  Ack.

I'm going to wish everyone a great evening and push "submit"--then I'll know if the Atomic Element Demon is back.  Take care, everyone!

Hi to all and i hope you are hanging in there         I had the pet scan and it was not conclusive.  I am going to a pine Dr next week for the spot on my spine.  In jan. I will get another bone scan for the spot at the top of my fermur.  Here I go again just waiting around.  In the meantime I am having cateract sugery on both eyes next month.  Hell when it rains it does pour.  And you have to take care of the every day stuff.  My brain is getting tired! LOL  Peace and good health to all.

Greeting to all my tamoxi-buddies.  I've missed all of you.  I did read everything that I missed, but it seems that I only log on once every few weeks these days. Maybe because  I am trying to move on, but sometimes I feel like I am forcing it a little, though. My sore and puffy hand and arm, the compression sleeve and glove, the painful cording down my arm are constant reminders that I am not the same person I was a year ago.  The day after tomorrow will be exactly one year since I began treatment for my BC.  I started with chemo - so last year I spent Halloween day in the hospital, early morning surgery to implant a port, followed by my first round of chemo.  I am beginning to come to terms with my lymphedema diagnosis, so I am not as down as I was at first.  I am learning to live with it as best I can.  At this point, the Tamoxifen side effects are the least of my worries.  I have a check-up with my onc next week.  He'll probably be mad at me for not eating, but with the tamoxifen, it doesn't take much to add a lot of pounds.

My daughter came home last weekend for her first visit since she went away to college.  She hates San Diego - go figure!  She has shed a lot of tears since she left - I hope things get better for her.

Sorry about all the whining, but I can't complain to my family.  I know that many of you suffer side effects much worse than mine.  My heart goes out to those of you still awaiting test results and wondering if there is more bad news.  So happy to hear that Basha and Virginia got good news.  I am also so happy for (and jealous of!) Anne and her successful completion of five years on the train.  Hugs to you all.

Virginia & Basha - So happy to hear the "all clear".  The anxiety these tests create are enough to make you eat ice cream or buy shoes!!! LOL!!!   Or, what I'd prefer, have a few Mich Ultras!!!  My next mammo is on 12/4, and I know the anxiety will come.

I love DWTS - that is what my husband and I want to do when the kids are gone ... ballroom dancing.  Hubby is not a dancer, so this really surprised me when he told me he'd like us to take lessons someday.

Deb - glad the job is going well.  And what a bonus that you work out where you work!!! How cool is that?

Munchy - no need to apologize.  We all need to vent and this is the place for it.  You have been through alot and continue to struggle, so feel free to vent all you want.  Just make sure you do take care of yourself, eat good stuff so you make sure you give your body the nutrients you need.  Of course, I should take my own advice .... I got my period this weekend, and mowed down on coconut chocolate almond ice cream from our local ice cream store, and I purchased up a half gallon so there would be plenty in the house.  And I even put Hershey's chocolate sundae sauce on it.  So, today, I walked an extra lap at the track.

Sorry to hear about the tears with your daughter, but it's so typical of the freshmen year.  The first semester is most challenging.  Give her some time to meet some kids and get into the college life.  It's so overwhelming that first semester - trying to get used to the workload, roommates, etc.  The second semester will be a little better and by sophomore year, she'll like it.  During the first semester, I'd send cards and packages to my daughter on a fairly regular basis.  That always seemed to help her (and her roommate).  I only live an hour away from Providence College where my daughter attends so I am able to make trips to see her (I'll even take vacation days during the week).  Or, like this weekend, she surprised us on Saturday morning by taking the train home so she could watch her brother's football game.  It's not easy when your kid is struggling through this adjustment period ... I guess that's a compliment to the home we have given our girls?  Good luck with this.  Smile

I must get back to work.  Enjoy the day, ladies.

Munchy -  first semester off at college is a tough adjustment for so many.  I hope things work out well for your daughter.  Take care of yourself.

Murph -  I'm just ahead of you with the mammo; going on Nov 28th.  This will be the first time on my "other side" since they found what turned out to be a benign lump last year -found that when doing the MRI as part of the investigation that identified my cancer.

Question for all who got their period back - does it actually come monthly or on some other schedule?  I had mine after chemo and before starting tamoxifen, then nothing during my first 3 months on tamox but just got it again this week.  None of my doctors seem concerned so I guess I shouldn't worry - just would like a better idea of what to expect.

    DEAR all,

Thanks for all the good wishes re mammo.

My rowing season is coming to a close, so I am trying other exercise; joggging, yoga, and restorative massages. This is a bluesy time in VT, leaves down, cold, yet a certain beauty to the bare blue hills. Back in my studio to paint.

Good warm wishes to all my Tamoxisisters.

Lynn - Murph - Munchy - thanks for the congrats on the good results from my boob squeeze...  Now we just hold our breath 'til the MRI, right?  ARGH.

Stefie- please keep us posted with your follow up visits to the docs...  Mustering all the good karma I can to send you.

Munchy- please don't apologize for venting.  Like the others have said, this is the perfect formum b/c some of us have had similar experiences...  Get it out, girl...  I'm am a firm believer in venting...  I do it all the time at home and at work.  Sorry too about your daughter.  I know that my sister's eldest, who is away at nursing school, had a complete and total meltdown towards the end of her first semester.  I think the stress of school, it being the first year, being away from home, etc. just got to her.  She bounced back and is now in her second hear.  So, hopefully your daughter will pass this rough time and settle in...

Jisman- I went into chemo-pause...  My period stopped in the middle of chemo (end of May) and then resumed in October of the same year...  Very regular and normal (with an occasional very heavy period in there).  Just recently the cycles have been a little wonky....stretching to 40 days or narrowing to 18 days.  not sure why that's happening, but for the most part normal.

    Happy Friday girls...

    Hey girls!
You DWTS groupies crack me up!  My daughter loves watching it!  She was disappointed when Misty May-Treanor got hurt -- she was rooting for her. And I think Cloris was relieved.

    Munch-

I cried when my parents left me at school the first time and called all the time.  As the years went on, the calls decreased and I actually survived. Your daughter will too.  If she's anything like you, she's got what it takes to get through difficult times.  Like Murph said, this is your daughter and you have to believe you did right by her.

So I have big news -- funny too!  My husband and I went to vote today -- he's going to Chicago on Monday so I just went with him.  While standing in line (got there at 8:15 and it opened at 9:00, there were over 300 people in line already), the local NBC affilliate's reporter showed up.  I recognized her and said hello.  she asks if I want to be interviewed -- LIVE! So dh and I were on TV this morning.  But this gets better.  As we got near the door, the Fox affiliate reporter was there.  She talked to me too! After we voted, the NBC reporter was there again and taped more for the 5:00 News.  Then, as we were walking away, the CBS affiliate had a camera there.  I walked past him, then he called to me and interviewed me TOO!!! (The ABC people never showed while we were there) So 3 out of 4 stations might have me on the news tonight!!  What a hoot! I can't tell you how far and often my husband's eyes rolled!  He just shakes his head and keeps walking.  If I can find it on line, I'll let you guys know.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!  Make sure you vote!  You never know -- you could get on TV too!

Ok, so that was REALLY cool!!  :)  That is so hilarious that you got on all those stations...  Can you go anywhere to vote??  I have to go to the elementary school by my house...even to a specific table (I'm district 11).  It almost sounded like the first Debbie was saying she tried to vote somewhere else and there were 600 people in line!  Wow.  I can't vote ahead of time unless i did an absentee ballot.

Anyhow, it was great to see you!!

That is really cool, that you got to be on TV!!  I voted last week, but NO TV reporters were around!

    Hi Virginia!  How are you?

I am still looking for a job, and I'm getting tired, even though MOST of the jobs I've applied for have been online!!

I really don't want to work retail, but if nothing else comes up, I may not have a choice!

That's awesome, Deb!!!  I am amazed at the long lines folks are willing to wait in!  We have a specific school we have to go and vote, same as you Virigina.  In fact, there is no school tomorrow in my town.  There was an incident last year on election day in a town close by, where an elderly gentlemen hit the gas peddle, drove onto the sidewalk and hit a 3rd grader.  I'm planning on voting in the morning, and then heading up for a business luncheon at one of my favorite places, The Cheesecake Factory!  Yummy.

I dropped my daughter's absentee ballot off last week ... she was so excited about having the opportunity to vote in her first presidential election, she even took a picture of the ballot .... can you tell she's a political science major!  LOL!!!

Did any of you girls hear about the study that came out last week regarding Tamaxofin?  A friend of mine told me about it, I guess if you have side effects, like those darn hot flashes, that is a good sign.

Harley, good luck with the job hunt, it's a job just looking for a job.  Keep your positive attitude!!!

    Have a wonderful day, everyone.

    'Morning', ladies--

<:AtomicElement>Deb--the next Katie Couric!  That is so neat that you were interviewed...I run from TV (and other kinds of) cameras.  I faxed my absentee ballot to FL about two weeks ago; wonder if it'll be counted?  Wonder if my ballots have ever been counted, after the 2000 FL debacle.  Murph, what a riot--I never considered taking a picture of my ballot even though I'm a former political science major; glad that she feels so connected.  I'm excited to see who will win!  And I'm more excited that this endless campaign is almost over.

<:AtomicElement>We had a school election yesterday, and I was shocked--Obama won!  The military usually goes Repub., and how the parents go is usually how the kids go, too.  Go figure...

<:AtomicElement>I stayed home from school yesterday with a bad cough and a sort throat, hoping to knock it out with rest and chicken soup.  Today my head is stuffed up, my face hurts--sinus infection looming, I'm afraid.  The first three years I was here I had the worst sinus infections in the fall--they hung on forever because I didn't want to go to the clinic and get an antibiotic; I'd rather take a beating than an antibiotic.  Hope this goes away quickly...

<:AtomicElement>Basha, so rowing season is done...back to the studio.  Hope your son is doing well.

<:AtomicElement>Harley, I hope the perfect job is right around the corner...sending you good karma!

<:AtomicElement>Virginia, hope you're feeling good.  What's the latest eats at your work?  I'd weigh a ton and a half if I worked there.

<:AtomicElement>Dee, wish I could give a definite answer to your question, but everyone seems to react differently.  I had several hot flashes/day, and some at night, but they were worse during the hot weather; now only occasional since the cooler fall days/nights are here.  My major complaint is joint pain, esp. in my hips.  Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.  Welcome to our train...great group of ladies here.  We have cars to meet all of your needs...chocolate car, pasta car, bar car, massage car...you get the picture.  Find a seat and enjoy the view.

<:AtomicElement>Take care, friends...hi to all I didn't mention by name.  Love you girls!

Ladies, hi...I can't help but check out your posts...Lynn you crack me up with the atomic element.....that has got to be the funniest thing...hope your cold gets better, I've got one too and most definitely the chicken noodle soup has been a staple for me.

Deb, you are the new star...your story is amazing....seeing all those anchors from stations, had to be way cool!

I miss posting, but I am checking in.

My life seems a bit more normal. ...since I stopped taking the tamoxifen Oct 12th ...I did see my gyn last week and he ordered an endometrial US which only showed 7mm stripe, which he explained was normal for my cycle...I will have blood drawn to see if the liver function comes back to normal...my onc seems thorough....but I am feeling better and the hot flashes are dissapating and leg cramps are almost non existent, the insomnia lingers, but so far no bleeding in 2-3 weeks.

Harley, hope the job hunting continues and you are blessed with a wonderful job.

hugs and best wishes to all

    Hey Sweeties,

Saw my surgeon yesterday and for the first time really believed this saga is done. Getting biennial MRI's cuz I am blessed with "young breasts", aka, dense breasts. That seems like good sense to me. Tamox is going ok but I really am not sleeping well. I take Ambien occaisionally, but don't want to rely on it. Any tips? Tamox at night maybe?

    ITS ELECTION DAY!! Y'ALL VOTE!!

    Murph,

Thanks for the warm wishes on finding a job.  I must have applied for 10 - 12 positions yesterday!

    Dee,

Welcome to this crazy Tamoxi-train!  There are lots of cars here, as someone else said.  My favorite is the pasta car!!  lol   But, I've been on the Insomnia car lately...  Good Luck!  Come here and post often, cause there is always someone who has experienced some of the same se's as you may be having.

    Lynn,

It IS a job, just looking for a job!  Some friends at the coffee shop told me about an opening at their dermatologists office.  I called yesterday, and faxed my resume to them, but I'm not expecting anything.  I sure hope they call me.  It is a little further to travel, and I would be travelling between two offices, one in Myrtle Beach and the other in Conway, but it sounded like it may be a good opportunity for me.

Those darn Atomic Elements!!  Drat!  Do you have a special program on your computer, for physics or an atomic element chart... gee, it's been a long time since I studied any of that stuff in school!

    Basha,

I voted last week, on Thursday!

I'm glad that your tests are all clear.... yippee!!

I am not sleeping very well either, recently, and I was blaming the shift in time... that and the Tamoxifen, of course.  I've been having MORE hot flashes at night, even sweating like a pig at times!  Oh, that must be an oxymoron...  or what is that word?  Well, anyway, pigs don't sweat, that is why they roll around in the mud!  But, I digress...  I have also tried Ambien without much luck.   With the time change, I was going to bed earlier than usual, around 10 pm, and I found that actually made things worse, since I was tossing and turning and sweating all night!  So last night, I went to bed at 11pm, and I slept better.  Oh, I have also been taking Tamoxifen at night, just before bed, and have been taking it that way for at least 6 months now.  I did seem to be sleeping better for awhile, but recently have been having trouble again.

Good luck!  Hope you are sleeping better soon!!

    Hugs to all!

    Harley
