Oh-oh-oh -- great suggestions!  I'm aiming for January, or maybe over Xmas.  Depends on a BFF's finances...

Elizabeth, I decided for my 59th BDay(jan. 31) to do a bucket list cruise. I chose Silversea and they are like the creme de la creme. here is the itinerary: http://www.silversea.com/destinations/plan-voyage/?voyage=1103&year=2011

I love Bequia. It is a beautiful unspoiled, un-touristy island and I can't wait to go back there (hope it hasn't changed that much). I am spending an insane amount of money on this but it is 60% off as the cruise lines are hurting big time, plus they have stuff like 500% shipboard credit, etc, free air, etc. Several years ago I would have had to take out a mortgage to go on one of these.

So I am going and I can't wait and MANY pix will result from this trip.

Elizabeth the prices are very high in January thats why we usually go to either cuba or Dominican in Dec instead. Both Veradero and puntacana have good snorkling. We often book last minute and on line to get a deal.If you would like more info PM me.

Elizabeth our KK, it makes my day to see your 'face' here on the beach and making plans with our world travelers as tour guides.

We're headed north outta Chicago -- back to northern WI. Today starts the biggest three day festival of the year in our little village of 'Sister Bay.' We've never been there for this event, so we're pretty psyched. The weather forcast sounds encouraging for an antique car fest, Arts Festival, Marching Band, bagpipes, jam bands, pancake cook-off, flannel wearin' for fall leaves event.

My book launch party is Sunday afternoon. Hope that folks still have an ounce of energy available by that point of the weekend. LOL.

Big hugs up & down the beach.

Love seeing everyone popping thru with notes to compare on picturesque get-a-ways!!

I'm wayyy behind on reading/answering.  So I'm hitting reply each time I see a post I want to comment on!  BarbaraA - I'm so jealous of your cruise - good for you to cross something off the bucket list.  I did my first cruise 2 yrs ago - cannot wait to do another.  Is this your first?  I'm ay jealous :)  Okay, back to reading more posts, and inevitably more replying!!

mumayan, please don't ever think you take too much space talking about your life (your post a couple days ago about parents).  yes, we like our beachy feel, but first and foremost this is a space to share and learn and support and vent and all those other things.  hugs to you in this time of your life that sucks ... only way to say it.

SoCalLisa, did you see the green & blue birds just out and about or were you in a park or bird sanctuary place?  My mom has been trying to identify them & can't find them in her western bird book.

why do our computers eat our words sometimes?  I had a whole message typed and was waiting for a pic to upload, then boom  .. and now of course I can't remember all the witty things I was going to say!!!!  oh well ... the pic though is a shot from my condo last week in williamsburg, va where a bunch of chatters met up for our annual get-together.  hope lots of you might consider coming next year - location always changes.  this is the view from the front of our resort, looking out toward busch gardens.  you can see two of the many roller coasters in the distance, along with the attraction "Pompei" right in the middle of the shot ... it was a great trip.

United States Government: Tijuana Slough National Wildlife RefugeUnited States Government: Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge

Told me that San Diego County has more species of birds in a year than any other one in the US

I was surprised..I guess we are in the migratory path on the west coast..
