Sahalie -- be careful of overdoing outside in the heat.  It is unseasonably hot here as well and it seems that several folks here have suffered from heat stroke.

The best thing to do is to stay indoors and keep cool until the temps come down.  Are you near any of those fires out west I've seen on the news?

I've got my flip flops and my favorite Jimmy Buffet song going.  Catch my beach angels later.

    hi new beach friends,

I am hoping all of you are enjoying this day. Where i live now, it is grey and gloomy today and most of the year (altho beautiful too) and it also rains most of the time....it is so hard for me after so many breath-taking years in california......i have come to your beach today to breathe in the best smell in the world, beach smell.  When i was younger i only used a scent that smelled exactly like the beach smell to me. I wore my sunscreen to a job that i had and my boss would tell me that i "smelled like the beach".....how happy that made me!!!

here is the bridge to my many beaches....Bixby Bridge, the "eiffel tower" of my young days:

and an aerial view of one of the multitude of beach spots at Big Sur:

and some big Sur seals enjoying a beach at Big Sur:

These pictures really don't do any justice at all......it all does not fit into a camera and nothing can bring the enormous sound of the Pacific Ocean roaring onto the sand and slinking back.  The pictures cannot really give you the feeling of the extreme highs and lows of everything.  Big Sur is overwhelming, the beauty is almost excruciating.  It is cold and windy, bright and noisy, and about all you can do is admire it and hang in there.   ohhhhhh.....homesick.....

I do love this peaceful beach where you friends gather.  It is much easier to stand here and enjoy without being too windblown....so much fun to loll on this beach.....i hope you don't mind my beach umbrella, i have redhead skin and can't ever tan, only burn, so i must have my shade and my #55 sunscreen because i won't give up these beach smells.....i will continue to bring more Big Sur to you because i love it so much and want to share it......thank you for your welcome!!!

To all our viewers and readers, I second what Faith wrote about the beach.

Faith wrote so eloquently how we all feel.

Jaz, It is a treat to see Annette, Frankie and friends.

Back in the day.  Great times like now.

I have two doggies with noses pressed to the

    bungalow.

sahalie, so good to see you!  i just stopped at the beach shack at your suggestion and found my brand new pair of flip flops made especially for me and i was so delighted to see that they had lapis lazuli stones placed all along the edges.  I love those dark blue stones as they remind me of the ocean and the sky at nite.  My polynesian beach towel looks like a painting by Gauguin of some women in Tahiti and it is so lovely.....i must meet the thoughtful Mario and would love to see his workshop....i am going to lay on this beach towel today under my beach umbrella and watch the waves come in and out......i can tell i am going to love it here!!!

here is my polynesian beach towel...do you like it???

Strap the floaties on me and take me out to sea.

Like a dork I've been outside.

    It's 91* blasting degrees outside.

My face is beet red, my body in shock mode and I'm in dire need of waves tossing me about.

I took loving pooches for a walk with my neighbor over to the dog park.

    Big mistake.

I'm directly under the ceiling fan.

Celia, the pictures of Big Sur are gorgeous.

I love that place, the peacefulness, the drive, camping in the park.

I may be biased but I think the California, Oregon,

Washington coastline is the best for wild waves and

fun in the sun sand dunes.

I really can't get over the distinct difference between California beaches to Oregon beaches.

    Both equally wonderous.

    *

Then of course there is the south pacific.

Nothing like that to equal pure pleasure of breath taking

shades of water and the flowers.

I do love your Gauguin beach towel.

While in Polynesia last fall I read a book on Gauguin.

He had quite the rep. but an exquisite artist.

If I remember correctly he is buried on the neighboring Marquesas islands.

I could be wrong about that.

We return the end of October 2008 and this time want to view

the resting place of a fellow I just read about named

    Alain Gerbault.

He was the first Frenchman to circumnavigate the

globe in the early 1900's and fell in love (as I) with the

    south pacific.

    *

I think I'm cooling down now.

Faith, have fun on your virtual snorkel adventure.

Just wait till you get to do the real deal on Aruba.

Good evening Beach Angels.  I hope everyone had a wonderful day.  Yeehaw tomorrow is Friday and then the weekend.

I've been out working in my yard that has pretty much been neglected for a few years.  I have the most indestructable vine that has taken over my privacy fence.  I've tried everything to eradicated it this summer and nothing seems to touch it ...not even roundup.  I will try to post a picture so maybe one of you gardener types might now what it is and how I can deal with it.  I'm telling you this stuff could probably replace a few of the heat shield tiles on the space shuttle and do a much more effective job.

But now I have my allergies acting up so I'm going to take a benadryl and call it an early night.  Before I do, I just wanted to make sure that tonight's entertainment was all set up.  Enjoy!

Celia, those pictures from Big Sur were just awesome!!!!  And I loved the Gauguin towel.  I love his work.

Sahalie, be careful of the heat.  It has been in the 90s here also.  I hate that kind of heat.  I need to grab my floatie and just go with the tide.

Jaz, my allergies have been over the top this year.

Talk to all you beach beauties later.

Oh, I have so much to say.  First, it is hot, hot, hot here so DH and I decided to cough up the gas money and take a ride to Half Moon Bay on the coast where it was much cooler.  Check out the beach view from that Taco Bell.

Then, when I got home there was a box waiting for me.  Hubby thought I had been doing some retail therapy again and when I opened it was I surprised when I saw a hugaghan!

It's beautiful, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.  And last but not least, DH got his results back and apparently they got all the cancer so he has a checkup in two months.  Thanks for your positive thoughts.  All in all, a great day.

Need to read back but wanted to say hi and thank you.

    BikerJan, good to see you.

    More later.

Margo - Happy news about your DH! We sure don't have any views like that from our Taco Bells in MI. Congrats on the hugafgan you look comfy all cuddled up with it. I can just picture Iris snuggled up in her hugafgan right next to you and the two of you surrounded by bears.

Iris, Neesie, Faith, Sahalie, JaZ, FTAngel, my lighthouse path has guided me back to the beach. The beacon is bright and glowing with warmth.

    Welcome to our newcomers.

Morning girls, Jaz, the Santa Cruz fire is about an hour from me.  There is a fire north of me that has doubled in size since yesterday.  I think Doreen is closer to it.

Wings, that Taco Bell is actually in Pacifica on the coast.  Don't they have a great view?  It's the only one like it around here.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning Beach angels.  Looks like everyone is waking up and coming out of their cabanas.  Neesie....what the heck....did I just see Mario sneaking out the back of yours???!

Well, breakfast is being served on the patio and I'm sure our resident cruise director, Sahalie, has all kinds of fun activities lined up for us today.

Me....I still need lots of coffee since I was up late with someone's hunting dogs barking behind my property line most of the night.  It woke another neighbor up and we finally found them but they had no collars or owner information so we just let them go.  I hope their owner found them or they found their way home.

Surprise song of the day!  Here's a little Jo Dee Messina telling us that we're doing alright.

    GOOD MORNING ON THE BEACH!

First of all Margo, wonderful news about Joe's ear.

Second of all what a cute picture of you with your beautiful afghan.

    It's is really pretty.

I know how soft they are and what a lucky gal you are.

Your walls in the picture look the same color as mine.

Wings,  Sooooooooooo Good to see you!

I looked over at your light house daily to see if you were polishing the big light.

It glows so bright and safe.

Jaz, You bring a gigantic smile to my face.

Neesie, We need some of your rain.

I can't believe how mixed up Mother Nature is at the

moment with the horrible rains and tornado's in the

Midwest and our fires here in California.

We had a big fire to the North of me the other day.

Midsize and contained fire to the immediate south

of me but the big fires are in the Santa Cruz mountains

and those are the most beautiful mountains.

You can imagine.  So lush, cabins, mega homes.

    It's all tragic.

Then yesterday a fire broke out over in the

Oakland hills and the fire dept. was on it like

    Mrs. Butterworth's on pancakes.

We had a devastating fire there a few years ago

    and

    many lost their homes.

The Oakland hills are equally majestic with old

eucalyptus trees, Oaks of all varieties, UC Berkeley

gardens, tennis courts and tree house homes, also mega

wonderful Frank Lloyd Wright type cottages.

I always worry this time of year for our farm and

surrounding farms as the grasses if not cut in March

or April turn to dry tender and all

it takes is someone on a tractor or weed eater

at 2 in the hot afternoon to hit a stone and start a spark.

    It happens.

We got all our property cut and maintain it with wide

fire breaks around each barn and the property.

    Hoses at every outlet.

    Today is another scorcher.

Where Margo and Joe went to Half Moon Bay is one

    wonderful area.

They have a huge pumpkin growing contest there each

    year in the fall.

You can drive along HWY. 1 with an uninterrupted view

of the ocean as you drive right on into Santa Cruz.

Fields between the road and the ocean.  Beautiful.

Family member leaving Monday for Italy so we are busy

    planning the send off.

Activities to be announced a bit later.

    Faith, Are you packing yet?

Please rub fuzzy baby heads and tell WB hello from us.

BikerbabeJanny, shouting out a big hello to you.

Foots, I hope to see you today.

Amy, Little Mr. goat must be keeping you busy snuzzling close.

Celia, Happy day always to you.

Susan, Any left over retail beach balls, mats, umbrellas

we can purchase for the beach?

Ok gotta go find my flip flops and get moving.

Peace, Love, Music and I love that buffet Jaz is providing.

Adios mui beach babettes!  Muah muches.

Beachies of bountiful beauty..... imagine the Three Stooges meets the Marx Brothers at the intersection where the three-ring-circus has crashed. What a hoot! Wish I could bottle some of this adrenaline to save for slug days.

The air conditioner broke at DD Sarah's home where we've been playing babytown, on Wed..... so we sat in the sweltering heat there yesterday awaiting the cabana boys technician to arrive. He arrived just before dinner to find us all melted together into a lump of goo.

The condenser is shot and will take a couple of days to get correct parts. Crummy buttons.

So we packed up boosters and boppies and bouncers, a pool, clean clothes, diapers, toddler food, dog food, well perhaps you're getting the picture...... and came here to my house. Which is fortunate to have air that is cooled!! However, it's such an inappropriate space on so many other levels (like my yard isn't fenced and the dogs (2) are quite confused.)

DH is attempting to maintain his composure at the invasion. He does much 'better' with his occaisional visit to babytown, rather than having Babytown invade 'his' territory.

Well. Somehow in the midst of all this fun Trevor is coughing & sneezing & weezing...... he made a quick visit to pediatrician this a.m. to be dx with allergies!! I guess all of that fresh air (haha) at his house was more than his system was used to??

Meantime, that educational publishing company that's waited for 4 months to get our project going, wanted that to be attended to this a.m. as well.

    crikey.

oh and DD2 called havin' her own meltdown..... can you spell: long distance hug therapy?

DH drug me to ballroom dancing last night, since i havn't been seen for months by our friends -- there were rumors circulating as to my where abouts LOL.

Apparently my poisonous neck is more alarming than i realized -- as folks across the dance floor flocked over to see what chemical i'd dipped my neck in. guess i'd gotten used to it. hopefully i'll pass inspection and not spend the week quarentined by the health minister.

all of this is just temporary nonsense

margo: so glad to hear about joe's good news

jan: soak here just as often and as long as possible

wings: glad the lights are lit, celebrate good times!!

nEEsie: how do you spell p-a-r-t-y???? get ready

sahalie: my step-son got married high atop santa cruz beach: breath-taking

jaz: WB had a great time watching Mustang Sally REPEATEDLY

iris: come back when you're ready, sending you luv

footie: skoot your skooter down beachside

susan: i need sunscreen, does WM sell by the gallon?

celia: where do you live now?

amy: sending strength and courage, as i manufacture a supply for myself hourly, have some surplus to share!

Anyone else watching the US Open at Torrey Pines?

Mickelson and Woods are about 10 down on the leader board

    as I type this.

They just showed beautiful dolphins swimming about five feet from some local surfers.

The dolphins were playing so close to the surface.

    Such a beautiful sight.

    *

We were watching the Lakers and Celtics last night and the Celtics

were behind like 20something points then whamo there they

    It was unbelievable.

Jack Nickelson right there in his beach shades almost needed

    oxygen.

    What an upset.

    hi new beach friends,

today is a strangely winter day here.  no shorts today and no sun.  I have come to this beach today for sunshine, beach smell, and good vibes.
Faith, i live now in the pacific northwest in the state of Washington,

near this beautiful woman, Mt. Rainier:
(sorry so big but my Mac crashes when i try to edit them)

    •

She is so beautiful and she jumps into your windshield as you drive around a curve.  She suddenly appears on the left or the right of the road, jumps into view, and then jumps out just as quickly.  visually, it is something to do with the greyness and the cloud cover that is present for 11 months of the year (and of course the curvy roads and highways).  She looks like a giant ice cream sundae to me, vanilla and blueberry icecream with marshmallow topping running down the sides.....yumm!!  (my hubby sees her as vanilla icecream with blueberry syrup......what do you all think??.....either way--yummm!!)  She is a volcano and she is female in Indian lore and is married to Mt. Baker.  We have many  volcanoes here in the pacific northwest.  I think that if i had been born and raised here i would love the greyness and the rain, but having been a californian, i miss the sunshine too much.   I find the grey, wet, darkness depressing, but when she jumps into my windshield quickly, it is like she is telling me to center myself and use my own inner strength and power to survive.  i love her so much and would have left here if she had not introduced herself to me.  every day i look for her as she has a tendency to come and go as her spirit moves her.

today i will walk along the beach and look for artists doing what they love to do.

Faith you are such a busy person.  I think if you ever came to visit me i would have you sit down and just watch the mountain with me.
Sahalie, i love the Santa Cruz mountains.  I taught at the University in Santa Cruz and drove back and forth from Berkeley twice a week for years.  My students used to tell me that i was competing with the "beach"...... big surfing area there and good waves.

I am going to get started on my walk today on the beach.

Have a wonderful day to you all.

Celia, friends of mine live in Seattle.  The mountains are just gorgeous.  She has shown us many pics of Mt. Rainier.

Faith, no AC?  I would surely die!  I'll bet those twins are growing like crazy.  I love the pic you posted of the dock.  It looks so peaceful.

Good afternoon, Sahalie!  I got my flip flops and my floatie.  Where are we going?

Margo, I'm really glad you finally got your afghan!

Hello Jaz!  Thanks for the song.

Hi Neesie!  I've missed you!  Things have just been hectic lately.

    Ahhhhh, relaxing on the beach
