Oh Jean....It's so scary when there are elder involved and you know that the persons caring or around them are only looking out for the financial gain and not their welfare!  Why wouldn't your mom have called you before it all happened?  Was she medically ill before their 'intervention'?

So sorry about it all.  Yes, what goes around, comes around...unfortunately, you'll propbably never know when it happens :(

Harley!  Glad to hear you got the check fixed!

My complaint today....dh lost the house phone while he was home and I was uploading his info to transfer it his contacts to a new phone. He was using the house cell and I can't find it now!  Certainly hope he didn't lose it in the yard, b/c we've got rain forecast and the dew in on the ground this morning! UGH!  MEN!

Thank you for listening.  It was a bad day yesterday and needed to shout out.  Yes, my mother-in-law was in the early stages of dementcia(sp).  We called every week asking if we can come down to move them home but her husband did not want to leave. She would say that all was well. He was a very controling man and never wanted her to be in touch with us.  We had moved them up to pennsylvania 3 years ago but he did not like the cold weather.  His family saw them once in the 2 years that they live here.  She did not know that they were coming down to bring them up here.  They told her that she was going to visit her sister when she was put in the car.  It was a month before we could get the keys to their house in Florida and the mess we found was unbelivable.  Food left out on tables and stove.  Flies everywhere.  The family did not spend anytime to get her in the car.  They never prepare the house, knowing that they were never coming back.  I still can't believe that there are people out there that would do this to anyone.  She is happy and under doctor care.  Again, thank you for letting me shout out.

The women on this thread are the greatest.  I have learned more on this site then from my bs or ps.  It helps to know women that are going thru this disease.  God Bless  Jean

Oh, boy...some really awful IOS for too many sweet people!  THAT SUCKS, Y'all!

My IOS today is that dh just called and told me there are ZERO gas stations open in the county where he works (neighboring county to where we live) because there IS NO GAS OR FUEL! The 3 major truck stops here and there are all out, too. I haven't ventured out yet in our county today, but suspect the 5 gas stations here are closed down too. It's because of the hurricane. It's weird, though: even after Katrina hit, we didn't have any stations close down because they were out of gas/diesel. Prices skyrocketed, though. I shudder to think how much it's going to cost once we're able to get some trucks in to refill the tanks. Thank goodness we filled up the tank yesterday.

Ok, I have one more poop story. It's got a definite "EWWWWWWWW" factor, but it was so funny to me...

Bigdog had been given some tennis balls to play with. He LOVED those things! His main objective with so many toys is to rip them apart to see what's inside. If anything has a squeaker mechanism, he rips it apart to get to it. Once he's done that, he doesn't play with the toy anymore. So, anyway, in his attack on the tennis balls he "skinned" the flourescent yellow fluffiness off before cracking the rubber beneath. Once the balls were open, he'd leave the rubber shells on the floor. I thought it was a little weird that I never saw any of the fluffy stuff on the floor.

Well, I took him outside to potty and discovered where all the tennis ball skins had gone! My poor big dog was pooping out logs that had flourescent green spirals running through them. Or, should I say, "LOG" because the tennis ball skins were not allowing the normal "breakage" that occurs. Well, having something so big sticking out of his a$$ and not being able to "cut" it off like normal scared bigdog so much that he started running like something was chasing him. He was on a leash and dragging me with him. When I finallly got him calmed down, I told him to "Go poop," to which he replied, "Are you f#($ing KIDDING ME? WTF is in my buttttttttttt???"

As luck would have it, we were in the middle of autumn so there were lots of leaves on the ground. I had to fashion some impromptu potholders (poopholders?) out of some oak leaves and pull the corkscrew yellow and poop mess from his fanny. DS's and I were laughing hysterically up to that point. Needless to say they were laughing without me during the extraction process.

Ok...no more poop stories. I do like the wedding stories, but don't have too many good ones to share. I have some weird thing in my psyche that makes me laugh uncontrollably during weddings. It's not because of anything to do with my marriage because it started several years before that.  I do remember being matron of honor at my SIL's wedding and nearly passing out trying to quell my laughter when she and her fiance were repeating their vows. The preacher added a phrase that none of us could make out and the happy couple, in turn, became moderately panic-stricken trying to figure out what it was they were supposed to say and were too afraid to ask him to repeat it. In the video of the wedding, you can see me from behind with my body heaving and searching for something in the church to focus on and shut me up.

My first chemo went really well yesterday--no more chemo virgin! :o)

alot of people are partial to Flip Your Wig, but that website is not available for purchase.  Name availability is important to the name choosing.  Another thing to keep in mind is the shorter the name the better.  People make typos easily and shorter names are easier to get to without mistake than longer complex ones.....even though some longer ones are cute!

Ok, I'm off my geek soap box, just wanted to add my two cents

Oh, boy, I missed such good poop stories!! Too bad someone said no more poop stories, or I would share mine. Okay, I'll share it anyway.  When my oldest son was one week old, I decided to take him out to the tower where I worked to show him off.  I dressed him in this beautiful vintage boy outfit my Mom found at a yard sale, you know the kind where the shirt buttons to the shorts?  It was seersucker, and truly amazingly cute on him.  So, I get him to the tower and before I can show him to ANYBODY, he liquid-poops this HUGE amount of mustard yellow very strong-smelling poop, and it leaks out of his diaper and is running down both of his legs, up his back, you get the picture.  It was gross!!

Otter, are you going to get hammered by Ike?  We have tropical storm warnings, and I live north of Ft. Worth--like 9 hours driving from the Gulf!  We've been out here 16 years and I don't ever remember this happening!

I am soooooo tired, I will catch up with everyone tomorrow...I actually worked almost a full week this week!

BTW, I like Free Wiggy....and WigOut.....but my vote really shouldn't count as I didn't do wigs and won't be participating.

    Be back tomorrow!

    Love,

    Sue

Let me tell you about the time the golden retriever ate all the corn cobs out of the garbage can. You wouldn't think such a dumb dog would be able to open up the can, but he did. In case you're wondering, no, they don't get eaten up by stomach acid. Tongue out

IOS everywhere...here's mine. This time last year I was dx with DCIS & underwent the lumpectomy and rads. In August this year, the dx comes in with LCIS on the other (formerly good) boob. Radiologist said to get it out, so I set up an appt with the surgeon from last year and - finally - with an oncologist. The one I met with last year was a jerk & he all but threw the tamoxifen paperwork at me - he doesn't like tamox. Didn't get a scrip for tamox, haven't seen an onc since then, but have worried about risk. LCIS just increases it, so it's time to take care of it. Now.

This afternoon I got a call from the surgeon's office to reschedule from next Friday to next Thursday. Ok. Got it.  Came home, messed around, and found a message at 5:30 from the oncologist's office. She's going on unexpected medical leave & won't be back til the end of October.  Oh, and here are the names of two doctors you don't know from adam that you can go see instead.  ARRRRRGH. I finally get myself to do something, get a recc from someone, and now - who knows.  I don't want to see a male. I've seen plenty of male drs, and it's time for a female...who understands female issues of breast cancer.

I was dx with adenomyosis in January & I can't get a straight answer about tamoxifen complicating it, my periods are horrific (see the sea flower tales on earlier pages for an idea), and I don't know what to do. Do I hang on and wait til the end of October?  Do I still see the surgeon?  I don't want surgery until I talk options & risk with an onc, but is that too long?

The husband is on business travel until Tuesday, my older daughter has a boyfriend, I've got PMS like nobody's business, and IT ALL SUCKS.

    there. thanks for listening.

Sue, I'm in Alabama, so I'm fine...this time.  We learned a few years ago that being 3 hours inland isn't far enough when a cat 4 hits Mobile and curves up our way.

Kristy (KristyAnn) is in Lindale TX--isn't that east of Dallas?  Closer to the coast?  Even far eastern TX and west Louisiana will get hammered by Ike.

Even as far from the hurricane as we are, our gas prices went up 50 cents (on average) just today.  Some people who called the state attorney general's office today reported gas prices in their area of the state went up almost $2.00 just in the past 24 hours.  That just encouraged the panic-buying, and a lot of gas stations ran out.

    Y'all stay safe!

Hope everyone who lives in the area where Ike is headed stays safe!  It sounds like it is gonna be a humdinger of a Hurricane!!  Please make sure that you get to a safe area, away from IKE!  I'll be thinking of you.

Also, HIGH GAS prices, due to expectations about Ike hitting all the Gulf's refineries SUX!!  In NC, just today, our gas has already gone up from $3.64 or $3.74 to $3.99 or over $4, just for REGULAR...

    Pam,

Being dx'd with another bc SUX!  Not being able to see the onc. you wanted also SUX!  I understand you not wanting to see a male onc, because that is how I feel about seeing a male gyn or onc.  I am lucky to be able to see my onc's P.A. sometimes.  She is nice!  I just can't talk to my onc about 'female' issues.

Diane, your poopy stories had me in stiches!

Sue, glad to hear your back to work......missed ya!

Otter, I've been watching that storm track too. Here in Ontario we took a .13 cents a litre overnite hike in gas because of Ike! Talk about lineups and we're no where close to the storm.......I just hate all the speculation and gouging at the pumps!

Stay safe all....batten down the hatches!

    Deb C--

Glad to see you posting again!!  I hope your vision issue gets better soon!!  Vision problems SUCK big time!

Not having much in the way of IOS today... my neck was feeling better yesterday, after taking THREE Ibuprofen, but it seems to be hurting again.  I took the Ibuprofen again this morning, but it hasn't improved.  I guess I'll be taking more Ibuprofen again, since it is 12:00...  Neck pain SUX!

Harley, the nurse for my onco office (of course I never talk directly to him) said we could take up to 4 motrin every 6 hours followed by 2 extra strength tylenol after 2 hours, then it can be repeated as necessary every 6 hours.  To be honest, I had to take some thign morning, my hips hurt so bad again.  I put it off all night, thinking it was just from digging up 2 extra feet of garden to expand it yesterday, but it's not.  It's a nightly thing. I just hate getting in a habit of taking that stuff. :(

REMEMBER though, to drink a full glass of water when taking any of those pain relievers.

HI DEB!!!!!!!!!!  SO GLAD TO READ YOU POSTING!!!!

    Wish,

Thanks for the advice.  I know that my dh took 800 mg of Ibuprofen after his hernia surgery, and that was Rx strength.  My ps told me that it was ok to take 600 mg Ibuprofen after my bi-lateral mast.

I am sorry that you are having hip pain.  Did I read that you are taking Arimidex?  That causes joint pain, I think.  I also hate taking so much pain medication, but yesterday I thought it was helping.  After having neck pain for about 3 weeks, I would do almost anything to make the pain go away.

Hope you are feeling better soon.  Hip pain SUX!  Taking so many pain relievers also sucks!

    Sue,

How are you doing??  I'm worried about you, with Ike plowing through your home town!!  Please post as soon as you can!
