I just checked out the website postchemomiraclehair that Molly292 suggested.  Of course I love the idea of my hair growing back super fast, but other than the word "vitamins" there is no mention of the ingredients in the powder. Does Molly or anyone know what is actually in this paste that we are suppose to leave on our heads for 45 minutes twice a day?? I will try to email company and get back to all of you.

Sanaisa - yes, the benefit brow zing is a great product.  anything along these lines will really help get the eyebrows looking natural until the hairs start to come in.  Pencil can look a little start on bare skin.  You can use the powder and wax together or use the wax to brush on the outline of your brow shape and fill in with the powder.  i use them together.

Rachel - I tried a couple of different false eyelashes, but without any lashes on your eye, they look kind of stupid and really stand out - and not in a good way.  My husband and I laughed until we cried when I tried them and came out of the bathroom looking like I had 2 spiders on my eyes.  LGFB recommended using an eyeliner to help define your eyes and then some shadow to help make them stand out a little more.  Adding some color, even if you are a devout non-makeup wearer, makes them look more "normal" if you have no lashes and brows.

Chelev, thank you for the eyelash lowdown.  All you said makes sense. I have to say also that I failed to notice missing eyelashes when I met all the chemo color gals with Joseph, of course you notice but again, the rest of us can't see what we're missing.

Chelev, you seem to know so much about eyebrow/eyelash loss! I'm half way thru 4 rounds of TC and today noticed two tiny patches (one in each brow) of missing hair. I read somewhere on the boards about stencils. Did you use them? What I don't get is...if I use pencils/powders to fill in my brows, then what happens when I wipe it off at night with make up remover? Won't the wiping pull out more loose hairs that would otherwise not fall out?? Seems like a catch 22.

Revricki - I would think if your eyebrows are loose and ready to come out - they will just by you washing your face.

On the other hand, I refuse to hand massage my scalp.  I am afraid to lose one single hair that is growing so I am babying my hair and my scalp Laughing  Oh, but it was so nice to actually take a brush to my hair the other day!  I didn't realize what a huge step that was going to be until it happened!

I don't have time to leave paste in my hair 45 minutes a day twice a day!  That would take away my precious sleeping time that I need right now. Laughing  Of course, it would help if I went to bed earlier than 1 am but I get busy on BCO around midnight and I can't stop typing!

Revricki - Jancie is correct - the ones that are loose will come out anyway.  I did not use stencils, but they are a good idea if you are a little shaky about how your brow shape should look - I did and do still use the powder/wax brow filler combo.  Benefit makes one, I have the one from Bloom, but there are a lot of them out there and it's very natural.  You will notice more and more brows, they come off in your sleep rubbing against the pillow, while washing, all over.  I keep finding lashes but the bottom ones are starting to come back, so teary eyes should be almost finished!

Jancie, I was afraid to touch my scalp too when my hair first started coming back - I didn't want anything to dislodge what was growing in!!  Now I'm noticing natural hair shedding, at first I was alarmed, but then I remembered pre-dx, I had so much hair that I would lose many hairs a day just by washing or brushing and it never made a dent.  Just seeing a few of them, but I think that's a normal, natural sign and I'll try not to get nervous about it!

Revricki - yes, it washes off like regular makeup.

I don't know if it grows hair, but sounds like it could be a good hummus!

I never did well with the brow stencils.  They were always uneven and I couldn't figure out how to hold the stencils against my skin while brushing with my free hand.  I just used a soft brow pencil and drew them in.  You have to pick the right shade though because some colors look reddish. Seriously, they grow back so quickly you only have to draw them on for a few weeks.  Fortunately now that it's getting cooler you can pull caps and scarves down on your forehead to cover them up.

I used the stencils a little, but Lainey is right they are a difficult to get even.  I think youtube may have some videos on how to draw them on with making 3 points and then connecting them.  Unfortunately for me my brows and lashes were gone for over 2 months, and it was horrible, I'm so glad to have them back.

The weirdest thing with my brows is that they grew back like weeds.  I had them waxed once and they don't grow much at all.  Same with my legs.  The hair grew back super soft and I shaved it off.  Now I only have to shave maybe once a month.  This is definitely the best SE ever from chemo.

I love this thread. I follow you all frequently! My hair started growing in after my last round of AC, and kept growing through Taxol. I had a wig, and hats and scarfs, but mostly I just walked around bald. I was more comfortable that way. I actually got very used to the way I looked. When my Taxol hair started growing in, I felt that I looked like a man. Anyhow, My last Taxol was August 13th, and my brows and lashes all fell out a month later. Luckily, they seem to grow fast, so they are now at the point of wearing mascara again. I rarely have to shave my legs, and not a single hair has grown in my armpits. I hope it stays that way! I wish I had a bumper sticker that said "I love Hair". My husband says it would send mixed messages!!! LOL!

Take Care All, and happy hair growing!

     I LOVE HAIR

hrf, I do not defend their claim neither do I know how it works for most people, I just shared my experience and if you do not want to try it, then don't.  Did you know there are twenty-five different type of BC (I only know about it, and I am not export)?  Did you know that there are stage 11b that are med?  Did you know that there are some kind of cancer lump that are very very small and when they metastasize to different part of body they create a big lump?  Did you know that there is not a"one size fits all" diagnosis that fits into BC? In addition would you want me to have my doctor to send you my medical records?  I have a huge big file, and been in and out of hospital for almost last 10 months, everyday just this year.  I have not even told you about my first experience with cancer (cervical cancer) back in 2006.  So please let me know which cancer file do you need. Frankly, speaking I though most of people with cancer would be more sympathetic with others of similar diagnosed, but I guess I was wrong.

Revricki, The direction on the package says 45 minutes two to three times a week.  I do not know who said twice a day?

Chelev, I have find hard to believe that anybody who has gone through cancer diagnose and treatments make fun of others who have gone through similar diagnosis, I just shared my experience and give a suggestion, again I though most of people with cancer would be more sympathetic with others of similar diagnosed.  And it was nice to know you all.

Molly, we have all gone through our own personal hell with cancer - nobody is claming you haven't suffered or nobody is not showing anyone else compassion or dignity.  But, we are allowed to have a laugh or smile, and my post in no way shape or form makes fun of you - it is simply my take on the ingredients - who knows if they work or if they don't.  For the most part on this board, we vent, we share and we applaud each other - and it is with the utmost of sympathy, compassion and friendship and we do rib each other once in a while.  It's called a sense of humor.  Everyone should have one.

I guess there have been others who have posted on these boards who are not cancer patients but are in fact shilling for their own product or website, and that is not allowed.  So, some people can get a little wary of some of the posts.

As we all know too well, the only miracle to having hair grow back is "time".  Don't get me wrong, I used everything from the complete Nioxin line to vitamins.  It grew back fast enough for my liking!

Chelev - lol on the hummus comment! And nicely put for above post!

Molly - the website indicated twice a day under the FAQ section. I am happy to hear the product worked for you. Anything to get our hair back, right?

Me too!  I used Nioxin, biotin (still am taking that) and then was prescribed with women's Rogaine to help fill in the bald area on the top of my head.  Only time and a lot of patience will grow the hair, though the patience is the hardest part!!  That, and staying away from mirrors 24/7.

I take a lot of Biotin. I think it has helped.

Probably anectdotal, but I took biotin, too, during taxol and while every last one of my hairs fell out, I didn't loose any fingernails and only one toenail (mainly due to a fungus.) I'm more than a year out, and now my hair is about 4.5" long. It's growing back fast, but before cancer it was 26" long, so it could never grow back fast enough for me!  I won't grow it that long again, but gosh, I miss it.

If anyone tries that hair grow product, do post your results. It's too late for me but it's very interesting.

molly292... I, for one, apologize.  I didn't post, but I was a bit wary as well.  Please accept my apologies and feel free to join in.

For others... I've been meaning to say this for a while.  I don't think WE should worry if our hair is not growing as fast as others on this board.  I know that for a while I worried every single time someone posted how many times they had cut or trimmed their hair.  As for me, my last chemo was April 29.  I lost every single hair on my head and none grew back during chemo.  I am not close at all to cutting my hair.  AND, I'm using biotin, stress vitamins, etc.!  My eyelashes fell out approximately 2 months after chemo... grew back in.. fell out... grew back in.  My eyebrows never completely left me... I think because I was never guilty of over plucking.  My point... and yes, I have one... is that it WILL grow back.  Maybe not at the rate we want or others'... but it WILL happen.  Do NOT be discouraged!

RachelBC and lbrewer... Thanks again for hosting my "dying party" with Joseph.  I had an absolute blast.

    chelev- rofl @ hummus

Molly- you have a lot of nerve to go after anyone on this thread, and I have already reported you to the moderators.  You say you want to help but all I see is you telling people to try this product without giving any details and then you are attacking the other patients- patients who have been contributing and actually helping others.  Your Staging is incorrect at best, <1 cm and one lymph node is not IIb, and you don't list when you were DX'd or what your treatment was ... everyone else here does, everyone else here is talking about the specifics.  You also don't post anywhere else on any other topic.  I am putting you on IGNORE and taking the liberty of suggesting others do the same.  And I notice you went after the other girls and completely ignored my post where I specifically asked you when you were diagnosed.  The product you are selling - oh my mistake, you might not be the same M (Mitra, and now Molly) who is the mysterious author of that product- was supposedly begun after DX in 2008, you might want to correct your web site, I mean, uh, the web site of the product that you said you used, because it says that it was the author's mother in 1997 who had "cancer" as undefined, and this mother had the recipe, but the author didn't start making it for profit until 11 years later when she herself was diagnosed with "cancer" undefined again.  Seems pretty cold that this mfr didn't bother to share this info until after she was DX'd adn its seems wild to expect that she started manufacturing the recipe for sale the same moment she was DX'd.  Most of us are pretty busy in those days. But let's say she did run to manufacture in after a January 2008 DX, realistically that couldn't be before April, and if "Molly" just happened to be one of the first people who tried this product at $50 a pop,  in April... and you started growing out when????  DETAILS.  Enough with the "recently" and "long time" evasions.

Your writing sounds remarkably like the writing of the author of the site, English is not your first language- or hers- is it.  So no, I don't believe you, not at all.  And I don't believe the web site either.  Where are your pictures?  Your "Did you knows" are complete nonsense- show your sources if you think you know something, that's a load of ca ca.  No it's not true.

Really Molly, all you have done is come here and push a product and make confusing statements at best and then accuse the fine women here of things they did not do.  You are not helping, you are hurting, and I won't stand for it.

Oh I see at the end you make it sound like you are leaving and this is why- this from the same woman who said she'd been reading this board for a long time but not posting.  What a load of complete CRAP.  Molly just posted that last post to try and cover her tracks, maybe because she got a warning from the moderators.  Chelev, Mom of Boys- you have nothing to apologize for, this was a cold, cynical attack from a cancer profiteer.

revricki- I did not do chemo, I squeeked by with an Oncotype score of 17.  Before I got test results back, I went to my colorist for advice, I am really lucky to have a great colorist, he's not only an expert but he has been teaching experts for years.  We were both pretty stunned that there was no information readily available for hair professionals to help their clients growing out from chemo, so we decided to do something about it.  Joseph pored over different forums and discovered the common issues, came up with some ideas for solutions, and some of the gals here have come to see Joseph to test out his ideas.  I posted a couple pages ago 3 things I have learned to help chemo patients growing out- things we learned together working on the issues.  I am - as many of you are- really connected to my hair, defined by my hair, known for my hair, blah blah blah...

I got to keep my hair, and I made a lot of promises to G-d that I'd help other people who didn't get to keep their hair :)

and I met some really great people doing it!

meanwhile, how about some REAL news eh?  I liked reading this in today's paper:

Breast-cancer breakthroughAPLast Updated: 10:23 AM, October 8, 2009Posted: 3:53 AM, October 8, 2009 PRINT EMAILdropdown SHAREVANCOUVER -- For the first time, scientists have decoded all 3 billion letters in the DNA sequence of a metastatic lobular breast cancer tumor, a type that accounts for about 10 percent of all breast cancers, and have found all the mutations that caused the cancer to spread.

The landmark Canadian study, to be published today in the science journal Nature, helps unlock the secrets of how cancer begins and spreads.

Chevlev,   I came on here tonight when I couldn't sleep because I recalled you were going to NYC for a makeover trip and wanted to see how it was.....did not read every word of posts, but think you were thrilled with the hair stylist and disappointed with the ball.....however you looked really nice in pics with your ballgown.

I had my last abraxane/avastin treatment July 15 and was totally bald with no eyelashes and had one eyebrow hair that hung on the entire time.  Now I have hair, lots of it....at first it was just white fuzz, but now it is more salt and pepper like it was before I lost it.  I am absolutely amazed at all the compliments I get on my hair from people who do not know it has grown back this way and is not a supershot haircut.  My eyebrows are back and are dark as they were before and my eyelashes are in, but seem to be pointing down rather than curling up as they used to.  And speaking of curls.....I do not see any sign of curl in my hair at all.  It's thick and when I rub my hands over it, it feels like fur.  I used Revive and Nioxin the entire time so don't know if this helped or not, but it seems to be growing back very rapidly. I plan on keeping it short, but not this short. One of these days I will change my pic on this thing.
