Congrats Lori!  I too was married in Hawaii - Maui to be exact.

Unlike you I went on vacation and ended up getting married.

The marriage license is so colourful and funny looking that no one believed us when we got home!

    Mahalo again everyone.

Marie, we got married on Kauai at the Coco Palms Resort, where Elvis filmed Blue Hawaii and is now condemned. The picture is too big to post, so I am just posting the link. That way just those that want to see can and I am not putting it in everyones face!

What a beautiful venue!  Congrats!  DH and I are heading to Kauai a week from tomorrow.  I'd ask for suggestions of things to do and see, but since it was your honeymoon, you might not have a lot of suggestions for outdoor activities.

    Thank you again everyone!

Meece, Helecopter tours are cool, we did that. We also drove the up the north side one day and the south side on another day. On the north end is a botanical garden, that was nice, if you like that sort of thing. We also did a 4x4 movie tour. Took all day, like 7 hours and they provide lunch. They also stop at the Coco Palms, where we got married! Fun place to eat or just go for drinks is Dukes, part of the Marriott. Waimea Canyon (sp) is pretty with water falls, this is one the South end. And of course, tons of beaches!

    Have a great time

I know I have asked this before. When does the white hair change color???    I am on chemo for another nine days, does chemo slow hair growth for the people who had hair come in during it. The onc. nurse says it will all fall out and it has not. Lots of white hair about 1/2 inch long. Also do the sides come in slower?? Have a great hair day  Dianne

I still don't even have any arm or leg hair and it's been 4 months since chemo ended. I have some fuzz on my head ... mostly it's dark with a sprinkling of grey which was the colour before chemo. Is there anyone else out there whose hair took a little longer to come in? I'm taking lots of Biotin which I think helped and will try Nioxin because some of you said that helped. I have no fuzz on my face but I think my nose hairs have grown back.

Lollys, the face hair just goes away. Some of the gals here shaved theirs and it did not come back. I waited it out. I don't remember when it finally was gone, as I quit looking at it, pretty much tried to avoid mirrors all together (still do, lol) and one day I did look, and all gone. So it is up to you as to what you want to do with it, I was affraid of getting man stubble.

Diane, I think everyones color coming back could be different. I think mine was like 5 months or so after chemo. I have a picture link on my profile if you want to look.

Aw... hrf...I have been catching up in here and I wish I could suggest anything.  I have only finished chemo #3, and will have #4 on 10/29...#5 will be in November and #6 will be in early December.  I am counting to April 29, 2010 with hopes that I will have sprouts by week 20 (that will be the 20th week post final TC).  I will be on Herceptin IV's every 3 weeks for a year, so we will see if that slows me down.  I am thinking of getting the Nioxin #2 Cleansing Shampoo, Scalp Conditioner and Scalp Treatment, or the Sally's Beauty alternative...to get it ready to start three weeks after I finish the final #6.  In reading your posts though, it sounds like SOMETHING is happening?  Everytime you write, I see you are sad as it is not growing, but it seems with every posting, you have a little more.  You are saying now that it's dark with a sprinkling of gray :)  That's a lot more than you were saying a month ago!  I am going to stock up on the Biotin that lisalisa recommends.

I am a little over a year behind you (I think) :)  I will be checking in here for the next year to see how long your hair will be to give me hope.

    hugs...

P.S. Thanks Chelev for the wonderful brow info!

Hi all, hope you are all doing ok.

I shaved my facial hair, but it may be coming back - not happy about that! My hair on the head is coming in so slowly...and such an awful color! I think dirty dishwater sums it up!

Sanaisa - good luck to you! Hang in there x

    Will check in again soon,

Hi Everyone, I just came across this topic and it's nice to find it. I had my last chem taxotere and cytoxin, 9 weeks ago. I started getting some peach fuzz, or more like duck whatever it's called lol, about 2 weeks out, then at 3 it started falling out again so I shaved it, again. Now I have maybe 3/4 of an inch, and I say it looks like a calico cat, all kinds of colors. I had shoulder length blonde hair, well with some gray, and I'm not sure what it will be now, but it's hair and I can work with it whatever it is. I've not really worn a wig, too hot here in Florida and my head sweats anyway. I thought I might use one some now that it's cooler if I have somewhere special to go.
My question is, the eyebrows and eyelashes, how long do they take to come back? I have always had blonde eyelashes and eyebrows, so it's not a big loss, but I started to put some mascara on last week and realized I only an occasionaly lash left, looked funny to say the least. I was thinking I might buy some of that lash stuff, to help them grow, I looked on drugstore.com and the rapid lash renewal serum had good reviews. Have any of you heard anything about any of these products? I've read about the latisse, but I have blue eyes and I'd hate for it turn my blue eyes brown. Isn't that the opposite of some song? lol  Sorry my post is so long, I've been told I write like I talk, and I'm not sure it was a compliment :-)

Tamara my eyebrows came back really fast I would say within 2 weeks but my eyelashes are still growing back.  They are there but just a lot shorter than what I am used to.  I don't wear makeup everyday so when I went to put mascara on I had 3 eyelashes on my right eye which I promptly cleaned off the mascara because it looked so silly.

I just updated my profile with a pic - 6 weeks out of chemo.  (I started taking pics at 4 weeks - I figure when I'm unhappy about the hair thing I can go back and "remember when" so I don't feel so bad!)

I have fuzz all over and the hair is coming in too.  I don't let many people see my head at this stage of the game, but you ladies are different.  You understand.  I am so happy just to have a hairline, even if it is mostly fuzz...well, I'm going to refer to it as a hairline anyway...

My eyelashes are coming in, but I have not used any product on them.  The lower ones are pretty short, maybe a 5th of their normal length and pretty evenly spaced across; the uppers are also short, but more patchy.

(chelev:  I only have one old eyelash left now - the other fell out when I ran to the store for that brow pencil. You warned me. lol!)

My eyebrow hair just started to appear at the end of this week.  I have very little left to speak of, but the new growth is now visible closest to my nose and working  its way out.  They kinda sprouted overnight.

Nose hair is coming back; the facial hair is starting to come in.Embarassed  Leg hair unfortunately showed up by weeks 4/5 Yell so I really DO have to shave now.  And yes, regrettably, I now know I'm going to have to deal with my bikini line once more, YellYell but at least not for a while.

I've been taking my mutlivitamin and eating protein and good veggies where possible.  No special supplements or topical treatments for me at this point, except the B complex I take for neuropathy - that does contain some biotin.

I would worry about the Latisse risk for discoloration too, but my friend just started using the lash renewal stuff from the drug store.  I have to check back with her to see how that's going.  I might give it a try if she thinks it's helped her.

Just remember...Latisse lenghtens the growth phase of the hair making it thicker.  If you stop using it, the hair (eyelashes, brows) die and fall out!  It's something you ahve to keep up.

My last taxotere was September 10, 2009 and today is October 17th, and I have mostly pure white fuzz, about 1/4 long on my head, but absolutely see no signs of nose hair, arm hair, eyebrows or eyelashes coming in.  When does one have to begin worrying that they won't reappear?  (I could care less about the pubic, arms and legs, but the eyebrows and eyelashes I definitely want back!).  Anyone have head hair coming in at the stage I am at, but no eyebrows/lashes yet?

Linda, you are just a little over a month out of chemo. Something all of us had a hard thing with.....PATIENTS! Give it another few weeks and you should start to see the brows and lashes coming in. Chemo stays in our bodies for some time after we are finished. And trust me, those leg and pubic hairs come back! You might also get facial fuzz, this is normal and it will go away after awhile. Some of the gals here have shaved theirs, I did not. Again in this matter.....PATIENTS! The hair growth also depends on what kind of other meds or treatments you will be on. Everyone is different. Hang in there, it will happen. Just not as quickly as we would like for it to.

    Hi there,

I am 2 months out from my last T/C. Hmmm, my eyebrows are just falling out as well as my eyelashes and my pubic hair. The only hair I have growing back is on my head, and it is soft & patchy. I was mostly concerned with the hair falling out at this late date. Has this happened to anyone?

Laurie - oh yes, it is "chemo bonus time" (think "clinique bonus time" but without the great cosmetics).  This is typical, as I found out about 2 months after my last tx.  Hair was starting to think about growing back, and bam, eyebrows and lashes gone almost over night!  Good news is they do come back, bad news is that it's not fast enough.  I would recommend for the brows finding a brow powder w/brow wax combo (Bloom, Stila, Benefit, Anastasia all have them) - it works best to replace your brows until they grow in.  Lashes, they do start sprouting again fairly quickly - use a little dark brown or med. brown pencil to outline your eyes, and it won't look so harsh.  It's the worst part, I think, at least it was for me.  Then be prepared, they fall out again - not as heavily, but just did for me at around 5 months, and they are growing back again now.  Argh!

Hi everyone--there is a  pattern here!!!my eybrows and eylashes fell out about 2-3 weeks after I stopped chemo too--they are back--I even had my eyebrows waxed last week because they came back a mess--my eyelashes are somewhat back but also not as long as they used to be---my hair is only 1/4 inch --I am 11 weeks out--my head is pretty much covered but not ready to go topless--maybe I will try to post some pics--

For those of you using Nioxin Follicle Booster are you leaving it in all day--it really smells (like strong vitamins) so I am putting it on for an hour or 2 before I take my morning shower so I can wash it out--wonder if that will work--wonder if anything other then a tincture of time will work

today is my first day without any type of treatment--done with rads!! it is really weird--but really nice--hope everyone is doing well--have a good week where ever you are in healing!!!Laura
