Had to post again, as pics were not upoaded properly. Photos of my hair 10 weeks post chemo. Still very short, but yesterday was the first time I went out in public coverless...was a bit nervous, but thought "what the hell - its all the hair I have". Forget what people think. My daughter (12) was with me for support. Damm..should have put on makeup before taking photo...lmao.

Geri I just love Jamie Lee Curtis' hair and only hope that I can grow it out in that style!
Jayne you have a ton of hair! Have you had it trimmed? It's so nice and neat at the neck and ears! Did I read that you coloured it or is it coming in that cinnamon colour?
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
I've had a very hectic and stressful one. In fact I may lose some hair from stress - we are starting a WHOLE house flooring reno tomorrow and plan to live in the house through it!

I just took the dogs for a walk it reminded me of something that happened last week.
I ran into a neighbor and he said to me "what's up with your hair?"
Seriously! I had to laugh and told him I was trying out a new look!
Sometimes you just have to laugh at these people - they mean well but it comes out totally wrong!

@Marie K ... I have never trimmed my hair, its only 1/4 inch long but very very thick, which may make it look like a ton of hair. I trimed it myself with my "nether-regions" trimmer...lol - no use for it down there either...lol. The first colour i put in was a temporary 8 wash colour which turned purple after it faded. Then I put in a permanent light brown and got this colour. I went to a busy major shopping centre today with my "new hair" - a big step with such short hair.

Sherri: It has been two weeks since I have shaved my peach fuzz and quite a bit has grown in, but not any where near boasting about yet. It is more or less starting to cover my scalp though. Quite a ways to go though before I can go for my first trim, but looking good. When I get a bit more hair I will take some pictures, maybe in another month.

Sherri: I feel that possibly Joseph Mullen page did not show in the link I supplied here because one has to be on FB maybe in order to see it. Charmaine0

MarieK: Wow your hair really looks wonderful. I look forward to my hair one day looking that great.

MaryNY: I gander this is great that you are getting your legs, underarm and privates hair back. I lost all of this into my 2nd treatment of chemo therapy and that is around the 24th of December and none of it has come back yet and I finished Chemo February 2nd. So how much post chemo are you? Geri, I am with you....I am going to keep my gray hair and get compliments on it every day. But then again, I am 60, and am sure I would not feel this way if I was 30 or 40. I had gray before chemo, but still had a lot of darker hair mixed in. Now it is all gray and white toward the front and the darker hair is mixed in toward the back, but definitely have to put gray down when they ask for hair color on any questionaires now. Marie, I am not sure I would have responded to the neighbor as graciously as you did, but it's good you could laugh....people do say the stupidest things. I think your hair looks very chic' myself.

I finished my last round of TC about 7 weeks ago. I did hang onto some stubble though out chemo but now those hairs have taken off and are growing but everything else seems to have poked up and just stopped. You can still see lots of scalp and it's coming in very grey in lots of places. I thought it would be more filled in by now. I guess everyone is different but I can't take wearing this crap on my head much longer especially with the warm weather and humidity.

Charmaine: I finished chemo on Feb 1 (so just a day before you). However, my chemo was ACx4, then CMFx4 and oncologist did say that hair might start to come back during CMF as it's a much milder form of chemo. I did have a few colorless hairs sprouting up on my scalp even before the end of chemo, then it really took off for a few weeks but now seems to have slowed down. The top of my head is not as fully covered in as I'd like. The rate at which the pubic hair sprouted is impressive and it's so dark. Unfortunately the hair on my head is still very white-grey with just a few dark hairs springkled in. Hoping this will change.

Tomorrow I'm going for a trim! I know I'm only 14 weeks PFC but I think it's time.
I thought I could wait a bit longer and get a trim before I go away the May long weekend BUT this morning my cowlick (at the back) was sticking straight up - I looked like I was sporting a bad MUCH SHORTER imitation of Kate Gosselin hair or an emu!
People ask me already if I've gotten my hair cut because it's growing in so nicely but I think if it's trimmed it may look more "intentional" then just regrowth to me.
Any advice from others that have had trims already?

Hi Marie,
Go for the trim - we don't see what the professionals do, and that is the potential for some real style as the hair is growing in. I had my first "Baby trim" at about 6 weeks PFC with about 1/4 inch of hair, but the clipping of the white fuzz and the shaping around the ears and neck made me feel like there was potential! I now go every 5 weeks and have a true haircut and have been doing that for at least 3 months. I love the owner of my salon - she refused to take money for my cuts until I told her at 4 months that I wouldn't be "the chemo " client anymore and she'd better start taking my money...so she does (but discounted, even though this type of hair takes longer for her to style). Also, if you go to a good salon, they will recommend products that you can try to get the hair to train to a style. I swear by Redkin's "Rough Paste" which helped me avoid the scary Kate Gosslein route - and I was not a product person at all before this. Good luck, good growing, and if you decide on the hair trim, please do a before and after pic!

mariek, I was thinking of getting a trim this week also. My hair is totally doing what it wants and not what I want. It is growing forward and it wont part and is just there. But the trim around the ears and back will probably make it all look better.
I am now 18 weeks PFC and can't believe that it has been that long since a chemo. Doesn't seem possible that it has been that long.

I was thinking of getting a trim myself this week to get rid of some of the silvery stuff that's at the tips. Mine is growing weird. It sticks up straight on top and I have a swirl sort of thing going on at the front hairline. I find it sits nicer after I wear my wig for a while...sort of a "hat hair" effect! Anyway, I'm going to hold off a couple more weeks on the trim. Did anybody else have their hair stick up on top?

Sugar - my hair is totally sticking up. I like it!!! I put a bit of goopy stuff on to make the sides and back lie down and let the rest stick up. I'll see if I can post a picture - not very good at this.

Gill: Wow love your hair Gill - beautiful!!!
Now a question about how you upload your picture - how do you upload your picture, do you upload it to a picture server like tinypic and then take the link from there and then upload it here that is how I uploaded the pics here... as when I clicked on the pic in the editor here it did not give me the option to browse for pics on my computer...

Gill - your hair looks very nice. It has wave or curl already. Mine is very straight but it's still pretty short. I'm only 11 weeks out from chemo. I'm hoping for some curls or at least a little wave!

I posted a picture of my hair on the "anyone on tax and cytoxan post on march 13th.It's on page 238 if anyone wants to see it.It was taken in Jan of this year,11 mos after i finished chemo.I've since had it trimmed up.but it's very thin now and super straight, not an ounce of body in it and it's falling out again.Bummer!!! I think this is the part i hate most about this disease. I hated losing my hair, more than i did losing my boobs. After all i'm 72 and boobs don't really mean that much to me anymore, but my hair~~~~~~~~~~~~~that's the first thing people see when they see you.Vain??? Maybe, but it's how i feel.

Hi Ladies, You all make me laugh describing your hair, (EMU) too funny! MY hair is a mess, im almost 8 months out from chemo, and it is soooooo curly, (I always had long blonde straight hair) It has come in dark and with grey streaks, but it is growing up and out instead of down, my husband say i look like annie, and every morning he looks at me and laughs and sings " The sun will come out tomorrow" I have tryed every thing and i cant get the curl out and cant get it to do any thing, every thing i try just makes it look like a gooey mess, Im surprised most of you dont have the really curly hiar, any ideas on what to do???

Question on taking Biotin.
Chemo done 4/28 - done with all the wonderful steriods on Saturday.
doctors gave ok to take this - when do most people who are done with Chemo, no rads, and only surgery next start taking? I do have peach fuzz on my head - about 1 inch long, 25% coverage. Realize that needs to get trimmed. Also see some dark hairs that started to poke thru a few days before my last chemo, so waiting for those to fall out again. I got the 5000 mcg size of biotin capsules. With surgery 6/21, I have to stop taking all meds two weeks before.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Gilly - your hair looks GREAT! You and I are about the same PFC (my last one was Nov 9). My hair is bone straight which is bizarre because it used to be wavy/curly/frizzy. I'm going to get a trim today because it looks raggedy, esp around ears and back of my neck. I think mine is not growing as fast as yours (could be from the Herceptin I'm still on - some women seem to think Herceptin slows the hair growth), but I still want a trim!

One-L - isn't it amazing how the time flies and suddenly you are 18 weeks pfc? If only the time had gone that quickly during.....
I finished chemo on 27th July 2009 and my hair is coming in thick and wavy, I used to straighten it, but it does pretty much what it wants. It is still short and I have had 3 trims so far.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, Judy xxx

Lilah - I ALMOST feel like I need a trim even though it is still so short. But it looks realy raggedy around my neck. Maybe get DH to buzz round there. But I have been topless since mid March as love that I look somewhat normal. (I hardly ever wore my wig, mostly hats and scarves.)
Judy - my pre-chemo hair was dead straight and I had a chin length bob. This is so different. I would like some color, but am not prepared to go there yet.

Gilly -- I had my trim -- it looks neater! Hoping to feel ready to go topless soon... I have a full head of hair mind you... but I look like a boy! I am so not used to that. I've always had long hair.

Okay this is my fourth time losing my hair and it always comes back the oppsite that it was. Mine is straight and thin( which they said after WB rads none would back) but after about a year it will be back to what it was except the color! so hang in it will all change again.
Blessings,

I had my hair trimmed the other day - Wed I think? Anyway it looks much neater around the ears and back of the neck. It makes me feel more like it's a hair style rather than just hair growing wild.
I showed my hairdresser a photo of Jamie Lee Curtis and told her that was my goal. So she trimmed up the sides a bit and back but left the top to grow out.
I hope you all have a hairy weekend!

Nice Marie! I had a trim myself today -- mainly around my ears and back of neck but all over too (to cut away the ends and make them healthy as can be I guess). I look like I have an intended buzz cut now instead of a scraggly-oh-my-god-you-must-have-had-chemo look that I was sporting. Then to celebrate I went out to dinner TOPLESS with my boyfriend and some close friends!
