MarieK:  Marie, I just went and looked at Jamie Lee Curtis hairstyle and out of all her pics that I looked at a few pages of, she has some nice styles, and some that I would not mind having my hair styled once it gets long enough.

So which is it that is of your preference:

    http://images.google.ca/images?um=1&hl=en&rlz=1T4ADFA_enCA370CA370&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=Jamie+Lee+Curtis&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&start=0

Just curious... as I think I am gonna myself keep to a short style. :)

For those of us that are staying with our gray "look" another celebrity to check out is Judi Dench.  She has some cute short hair dos too!

Marie - I like these short styles. Did your stylist give you any sort of idea how long it'll take to get to a point where it looks along the lines of the Jamie Lee Curtis cuts?  Mine's growing pretty fast but it looks like her hair is quite a bit longer on top than on the sides (even though it's short). Are we talking weeks, a month...or more?  Just curious as I'm getting antsy to get something going with my hair. I'm sporting the emu look myself right now.

I am 6 months post Chemo and have had 2 trims so far.  My hair started growing out very straight and about 75% grey with the other mousey brown color.  I have colored my hair twice myself with Loreal product and my hair now is very very very curly and actually my DH calls me "FRO RETTA"   he he

Last night I went to a Ladies Conference and was standing in line for book signing when another woman came up to me and said "Is your hair curly because of Chemo"....  Well at first, I was like oh Great!  BUT then she proceeded to tell me that she had Hodgkin's Lymphoma (I think I spelled that right)-- and that had been "15" years ago!!  I Love to hear these stories!!

Anyway-- she said that most people probably wouldn't realize unless they had been through it and that my hair still looked cute.....

Today I woke up thinking I might go and get another trim..... ummmm....

Jamie Lee Curtis has the bone structure and confidence to pull off the short look. I'm not sure it would look so well on me.

But I like this one ...

OK- I did it!  I got my 3rd trim - and boy did I go SHORT!  3/8" in the back and sides and kept a little longer on top-- THE curls are gone though... he he

I couldn't believe how much hair I really had -- it was way more than I thought!  I guess when you have curly hair it's hard to tell how long it is because it just wants to CURL:)

My 4 year old son after we got home was asking his Dad why Jackie "the hair dresser" cut Mommy's hair like that!!!  I asked him if he liked it better the other way with the curls and he said "Yes"-- SO I guess we can't please everybody.....

MarieK:  I like the 3rd hairstyle of Jamie Lee Curtis and have saved it to my desktop.

Thank you so much for posting these up.

I agree with Charmaine on the 3rd Jamie Lee photo.  I'm not sure if that cut will work on my hair. My old hair was way too thick to style like that.  Who know's how my new "mop" is going to come it. So far, it's feeling pretty thick and straight. Time will tell...

Sherri:  I not only like the style #3 of Jamie Lee Curtis, I even like the color.  Although my hair color is coming back a white, and tons of black roots, and some grey.  When it comes in long enough and time enough to be able to dye - I am gonna print out this particularly picture of Jamie Lee Curtis and see if they can dye it this particularly blend color. (it looks 2 different colors).

Charmaine, from what I understand about uploading pictures to the site, they must come from somewhere like Facebook, Utube or someother program, but not your computer.  That  is what I have found anyway. I usually upload to Facebook, then do a copy and paste into my post and it all seems to do fine.  There are probably easier ways, but I don't know them.

Judy, you are so right about how fast time goes by when the treatments are finished and how slow they go while you are doing them.

I am going for a trim this week.  My hair is still coming in really well and it has more color than I was expecting.  It is getting shaggy around my ears and neckline.

Lilah, you go girl with the topless bit.  I bet your boyfriend was excited.  Oh, you meant you went without anything on your head.  lol  I glad you finally made the transition, it is liberating isn't it?

MarieK, I think I will go for the Jamie Lee Curtis look myself.  I am getting so many compliments on my short hair, that it makes me feel really good.  I think I do need to let it grow some more and will not keep it as short as it is now.

gilly, I love your hair and it looks great.  Mine is not much shorter than yours, but it is laying right up against my head and will not stand up, even if I put something on it.  It is also growing forward, I don't know what I will do with it.

Sherri, I am like you, I have so much hair, that I am not sure I will be able to wear one of those hair styles, but it may be fun to try while the hair is short.

I had to respond because I saw something about Lilah going topless, then realized this was the hair thread, not the exchange one. lol!

Lilah, that is indeed strange that your curly hair is coming out straight.  I used to pay my hair person a lot of money to straighten my hair.

My hair is the opposite of Lilah's -- she always had curly hair and it's now coming out straight. Mine on the other hand was always straight and its coming out curly.

Hi Juanelle, I haven't noticed you posting in a while, which I take is a good sign. You said you are seeing more color in your hair now -- was it all white to begin with and did the color show up later? Mine started off all white, now at three months post chemo, there are some dark hairs mixed through for an overall grey look. I'm wondering if I'm being too optimistic thinking I'll see more color in the weeks ahead. Its about one inch long now.

Question....I am half way through my chemo, #3 this week.  My hair is growing back...it is my normal hair in places (sides and back)   the top is the chemo hair everyone describes, white, coarse, sticking straight up.  Also some spots are not really growing.  Is it going to fall out again or grow or what.  I will ask my onc this week when I see him, but I did not think it grew back while getting chemo...it is bizarre!

LOL Juanelle (and Brenda) re: the topless comment :)  My BF is eternally unphased by all things... which is great for me when I am in a high state of anxiety (because he makes me laugh).  He is a sweetie... the next day we went to a local casino and I told him I would try going without the wig again and came downstairs and he said I looked cute (and I knew he meant it)... and it made my day!  Now I'm back to the wig... but only for a few more weeks I think.

If anyone is up for looking for it, ccbaby (a hairdresser) posted a link on this thread to some reallly cute short cuts a few months back.  I'm guessing it might have been March.  It can't be too many pages back.  It had about a dozen adorable cuts.  If anyone has the time and inkling to look back, maybe they can repost the link for everyone else interested.

Sugar, thanks for posting the link again (and to ccbaby too!). These styles are something to look toward, though at the moment it would take some magic to transform my short white hair with touches of gray to anything like one of these pictures.

MaryNy, when my hair started growing back it was all white, no color at all, then several weeks later I could see some color coming in and it looks like it may have more color now than before chemo, but it is hard to tell.  Mine in also about an inch long, so I am not sure what to tell you about yours.

Dublin4, my hair  did grow some between treatments, but not much.  I still had hair after my 4th tx, but I had shaved it right down to my scalp.  However, after the 4th tx, then it all fell out and started again.  My Onc said it would start, but all fall out again after the last tx.  I think what  is really happening is that the new hair pushes the old hair out.  That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Lilah, it is good  that you have a friend you can depend on and that he makes you feel special.

Brenda, my hair before chemo had lots of body and it was wavy, but no real curl.  It is now coming in wavy, so I am hoping for curl this time instead of frizz.

Hi all! My last chemo was in August. Hair is growing again, but very uneven. I did have a haircut 2 weeks ago to even it out. But it's very thin & baby fine.

Has anyone taken any hair growth items, such as special shampoo or vitamins to help? Thanks, Helen

My hair is looking like it might have some curl or wave when it gets a bit longer.  As such, I was thinking that something along the lines of this Halle Berry haircut might work.  I can't figure out how to insert the photo, so I'm providing a link.  My face looks nothing like her's but I thought the style might work while it's short.

This is the Halle Berry image. Yes, that is a nice cut for someone who has a bit of a wave.

To post an image you find online: Right-click the image, copy image location. Then in your message, click the Insert/Edit Image icon (the little tree up top) and paste the URL. If the image is too large, you will need to right-click the image play with the dimensions.

Thanks for the help Mary!  I can do stuff like this on the PC but these days I'm using a Mac laptop and haven't figured out the equivalent of a right click because Macs only have one button.

I have been out of the loop here. Hope you're all well. I couldn't manage to include photos in this post so I changed my avatar so you all can see my hair, 4 months PFC this thursday.

    Best to all.

Hi Lottie - Good to hear from you!  Glad to see you have pretty hair growing in.  Hope you have been feeling better.

I am 7 months pfc, and my hair is still REALLY curly.  I know, I know - time for a new avitar.  The newest hair seems to be calming down, though.  Hopefully, the next cut will reveal a kinder, gentler hairdo!

    Love to you all, Mary
