DiDel- I noticed you said the Moroccan oil helped with the sheen in your hair but that it also straightened it. I'd like the sheen but not the straightening part at this point. Does it straighten it a little or a lot? THX  I'm trying to get some shine back in my hair.

cc4npg- as you can see we are always fighting something with the hair on this thread. Lot's to try and think about. Hang in there, it amazes me any of us have hair after chemo. but we do.....

ECT:  Sally's sells glossing sprays, which are the best.  Also Sexy Hair sells an anti frizz spray you can use before & after styling which gives your hair some shine.  I've used both and they are great no matter how you style your hair.

ladym13:  Thank you!  I was able to get close to this look when my hair was your length just wet styling with MarcJacobs Straight.  I hope this works for you, too.  I cut off, hopefully, the last of my chemo damage, so now my goal is to get it chin length, and I have a very long face, lol!  It will come with patience and I sooooo know how you feel!  Happy, happy!

BTWL:  I know that I mentioned it before, but for those trying to go straight (with their hair, lol) Sally's carrys a professional straightening iron that has oil that is added to it so that when you straighten your hair it prevents damage and helps keep it smooth.  I opted out because I didn't know if I would like the results and I have products that I have found that work for me, but for those of you looking for an easier solution and don't want to spend as much time as I do with all of the products this might be the ticket!

It looks like my hair is going to be super straight, but with cowlicks all over.  I have a long way to go before any style could be tried, but it is growing and that is a step in the right direction.

happy new year everybody ... stay healthy and peaceful

Jan - Your hair looks great and gives me hope.  I am 3+ mos post-chemo and my sides are getting long but the top is still short.  Can't wait to have what you have.

Maureen - You may lose the rest of your hair from Taxol  Probably your hair will be very short in late June, but you may be able to go without a wig by then.  Everyone seems to vary.

Happy new year ladies - here's to lots of hair in 2011!

ECT Hahaaha Clearly Im on too many pain meds...I meant Stregthening not straighening. It adds proteins and vitamins to fortify your hair.

    Happy new year all!!

Your too gracious DiDel, my mistake and it's the brain thing I got going on. I do this all the time - read things wrong, mix things up. If it weren't for spell check who knows what I'd write. Embarassed

I was looking for old pics and found this of me 3 years ago right before I cut 12 inches off and sent it to Locks of Love. Now I really miss my hair. :(

Claire, you will have your pretty hair again sooner than you think (((((((((hugs)))))))))))).  I'm getting stubble after my second taxol treatment so I'm really hopeful I'll have the hair back before we know it :)

I had 35" of hair prior to chemo... was below my butt.  I miss it too, but gotta stay positive!  I would have never cut my hair had it not been for chemo and surgery.  Now I get to see and try different hair styles as it grows so I'm pretty excited about that.  But alas, that won't be until at least mid March before I have growth.

I'm starting to freak out about my hair coverage. It's coming in on the sides, but the top is so sparse as to be almost bald still. My last chemo was Dec 6 (Monday will be 4 weeks PFC); but before that, I had been off chemo for a month in October when I was in the hospital. It started coming back then, but besides thickening up a bit on the sides, it hasn't changed since then. Has anybody else had this? Thick sides and bald top and then had the top fill in?

Lady, I think it is much too soon for you to worry. The fact that you have hair after only 4 weeks is a good sign.

Claire:  Your hair will be long before you know it.  You already have lots of good growth and to me it;s like going through adolescence all over again.  My mother made me wear it short until I was old enough to take care of it myself so I didn't cut my hair short until well into my thirties.  I think it looks really cute no matter what.  Hugs.

Love all the recent pics, ladies!!

I'm 9 weeks PFC and I have enough hair I can run a comb through it. :) I have about a half an inch of hair right now and my husband says I have enough to go out in public hatless but I think he's crazy!! I think his perception is skewed by the fact that he's bald so this seems like a lot of hair to him, lol.

Kate:  Being that it is Winter, I can't imagine going without hat or wig this time of year.  I was so relieved when my hair became longer then my DH's!

Carol I lost more hair after my final chemo before it started growing. Remember the chemo is still in your system doing its thing I don't count my hair growth until three weeks after my last treatment. My last chemo was May 17th by 4th of July my head was covered (with gray mouse hair but it was covered) then it really started pouring in. I dyed it with a semi permanent in mid September and haven't colored it since but need to touch up. Its very thick and I just measured yesterday its 3 1/2 inches long...ready for my first cut and real coloring this week. My hair has no shape and of course didn't grow in evenly. I have little fuzzy just growing in where my hair recedes if that makes sense. thus the no bangs. the front/top of my hair is slowwwwly growing in and I think that's because the crown of my head took the most abuse from highlighting over the years.

So my twin sister stayed with me new years eve and in the morning we wake up and she says...and I wish I was making this up..."can you do something with your hair..it's sticking straight up and it so frizzy..wet it or something!!" I left it  bed head all day just to bug her!!

    Happy Sunday!!

Diane - I finished chemo a month after you and my hair is about 3 inches long but the front sides are short and fuzzy (where typically the male pattern baldness is).  Still wearing a wig because of the front.  Will color as soon as I can style and feel comfortable w/o a wig.
