You know I think I have 4 inches of hair at least (in some places) but I just cannot imagine extensions with this curly mop on top!!!

I am planning to do the clip in extensions once I get 3+ inches of hair.  My hope is that I can transition seamlessly from the wig (which looks just like my real hair) to the extensions, then gradually work out the extensions as my own hair grows out.  Whether this will actually work remains to be seen.

I may also do extensions once I have enough hair. I had very long hair before & hate my hair short. It is immensely frustrating to have almost no hair.

KCMomx3 you have to post them somewhere else on the net first like facebook or photobucket. Then  right click on it, save the image address then in the box to post on here click on the little tree button above and paste the address there.

KC, I just went to your blog. Right clicked on this picture, hit copy. Came here and right clicked and hit paste! No need to mess with the little tree and all that. Just copy and paste. I don't know if this is the picture you wanted or not, and I will also delete it if you want. You can not take a picture from your computer, it has to be on the internet.

You guys look so great in your pictures! I'm 16 weeks out from last chemo and my hair is about 1in to 1 1/2. It's still too short to wear on it's own and too gray. I'm only 35 where did all this gray come from?? I'm going out of work again to have a hysterectomy and I really really hope by the time I return to work (some time in April) I have enough hair to wear on it's own. I've been wearing hats at work but at some point I'll have to give that up. I just feel so naked in public without hair that I can actually style.

    KC-----You Got It! Wooo hooooo.

As for the gray, it will go away. Chemo has killed a lot of things in our body. Most everyone, when the hair comes in at first is that "colorless" grey. Give it time, and your natural color should peek through eventually. Then it's a matter of "will I get chemo curls"?

Love seeing everyones hair progress, I check in here daily (lurking).

    Happy Hair Growing!

KC - Your hair looks great.  You have more hair than I do at 12 weeks PFC.  Actually I look about like you do except for the top - I'm still pretty bald on top.

KC--hair growth looks great! I am 10 weeks PFC and have about the same amount of hair except (like Dawney), my hair on top isn't as thick. My hair has probably grown the most over the last couple of weeks. I just wear hat right now which works because it is winter--I am definitely hoping for a decent amount of hair come spring!

Stacy- try to go out on short trips bare-headed (when its warm enough) and you'll get used to it. You'll notice that no one really notices or cares for that matter.

I am guessing work is the last place you want to go around with a super buzz cut and I can sympathize.  I'm almost 16 weeks out and I get compliments all the time about the shape of my head, the color, etc. and maybe people are being nice, but its made me less self-conscious.  I am through with hats, scarves unless its too cold.  So what I'm saying is, at some point, you just have to do it!  And you will feel liberated and actually more confident!  good luck!!!

StacyA:  TNBCRuth has excellent advice!  It WILL grow and soon not having hair will be a distant memory!

fighter:  Yesterday I met one of my sisters from BCO in Los Angeles, and I saw a woman with much shorter hair then mine in the ladies room--good thing very short hair and scarves are sooooo stylish right now--anyway, my hair length after one year is almost to where it was before just with a different texture.  You will have lots of hair soon, but it does take lots of patience!

KCMom ~ Your hair is coming in like mine when it started growing, mine had kind of "ashy" undertones, but not really grey (although I thought it looked grey).....I used to have blond, straight hair....now it's dark and curly.  So different, but I'm getting used to it.  I've been going 'topless' for almost a month now.  I even had to use hairspray the other day to tame the kind of weird, post-chemo curls that I have been blessed with!   Hang in there!  I think just having a little hair is sooooo fun!!!  I'm about 4 months PFC.

Just a re-mention of some products that have really worked for me and I especially recommend them for those of you having to take drugs that limit your estrogen output or who have had ovaries removed.  I have no affiliation to these companies however, prior to my diagnosis I was using these for hair fall out and they worked then and now to keep my hair and to stimulate growth:

Topical Solution 183 by Xenna purchase on line in a 3 pack.

Target's version of Rogain (minoxidyl):  I found the woman's version doesn't work but the men's version rocks.  This also comes in a 3 pack.

    Happy Hair Day!

Yesterday I went to get my hair colored for the 5th time since it started growing back. Well, still to this day, my hairdresser finds it hard to know excatly what the color will turn out to be, saying my hair must still contain traces of chemo that affect the results ... hmm ... I am starting to think I might need to find another colorist ...

Can chemo still affect hair coloring after 14 months of hair regrowth ?!?

i have been using nioxin and taking biotin and my hair growth is slow. I have a little less than KCMOM and I am at 9 weeks. I think they help but not sure. Just started tamoxifen about 2 weeks now.

Just wanted to share another hair picture. It's been one month since the last one. I'm 15 weeks PFC and have about 1 1/4" of hair. All my eyebrows and eyelashes are back too! I have good coverage now and I've been going hatless for about 3 weeks. Still no sign of chemo curl but I had curly hair pre-chemo so I'm assuming I'll see curls again at some point? I've colored it a couple times with Clairol Natural Instincts and that seems to be covering the weird chemo color that's on the ends. I did need to use a darker color than I used to to get similar results. I don't think it's quite enough hair to look like a real hair style yet but it's been incredibly freeing not to have to cover my head!!

You can see the rest of my chemo hair growth pics here...
