So I got my hair cut last week and then I colored it myself. WOW what a difference a little color makes and the cutt really helped. Today was the first day I went out topless. No hat and no wig. It was werid but it also felt very empowering! I agree with the rest of you this is a very big deal, I feel the same way I want to be "normal" and get past this all and it can't happen fast enough.
Thank you to everyone whose already through this part, your support and advice is so appreciated.

I am also so impatient waiting for my hair to grow. My doctor said the amount it has grown so far looked normal to her. So far most of the re growth looks dark like what my natural color was but there is quite a bit of grey, guess it will be a bit salt and pepper. It's been 72 days now. I have hair coming in all over my head but it's very thin i can still see my scalp through it. It's still really short but it seems very straight and it was kind of wavy before. I took pictures of it at 7 weeks i think i will take pictures again now so i can compare for myself.

Dominika you look so cute! My hair is about your length but I don't look good in it like you do. I can't tell yet if I'm going to get the curl either.
Where are you going for your holiday?

Dominika, you are gorgeous!

Great pic!! To me, it does look like it will be straight...mine is about the same length and is 'tight', like its going to explode into curls when it gets a little longer. yikes! I am writing down all the hints because I am clueless what to do with short AND curly hair.

Yes, does appear you will not have the "granny curls" that I got. Looks soft and straight....

Dominka you look adorable and your hair seems to be coming in very quickly. Mine is somewhere in between what you have in november and february. When was your last chemo? Mine was Dec 7th which is 68 days ago for me.0

Hi Ladies - I don't have a picture to post but my hair is about 3 inches long and very curly. Did not have curls before chemo. So I am still wearing a wig since it is cold here and frankly I don't know what to do with these curls.

Dominika, you look great. My hair looks similar and I do not think I would get curls either. I had some waves in my hair before chemo but not much.

Dominika, your hair looks great, and you have beautiful eyes. I have been wearing my wig less and less as it gets warmer. I did wear it to church this morning and will probably continue to wear it until I get it colored again. My hair is about the same length as yours. The only good thing is that at this stage, it is wash and go.

Dominika--what a beautiful young woman you are! I have a daughter your age that you could be twins with--seriously!
Your ability to press forward and work and smile and raise your son through all this, and without telling anyone, is quite extraordinary (I read that in another post of yours).
Thanks for sharing your lovely face (and hair!) with us today, and I hope you get the desire of your heart and have enough hair for your holiday this Spring

When everyone's hair started to grow back, did their scalp hurt? I'm 24 days PFC, and my scalp is achy and a bit itchy. The sensation reminds me of when my hair fell out last October.

I am almost 13 weeks pfc and am planning on going 'topless' when I go on a cruise this week.. I will try to post a pic soon.

bobsgirl--my scalp is feeling the same way as yours, and mine fell out in Nov. Wish it was showing signs of growth, though, but not yet. I'm PFC 6 weeks, but still on Herceptin. Good luck in your sprouts.
dawney--enjoy your cruise and post that pic!

Char- MJB has good advice and knows the good products to use on new curly hair. Look back thru this thread or pm her. Good luck and try and post a pic because I want to see how the early curls burst forth!

Hi Ladies, I haven't posted to this thread in some time. MJB does have great advice. I finally put up my avatar so you can see what my hair looks like. I finished chemo on April 15, 2010 and my hair began to grow back about 8 weeks after that. I am now 10 mths. PFC, and my hair is a little over 4 inches long. It has been extremely curly since it began growing back. I have always had straight hair and struggled to know what to do with it. Now I'm embracing the curls. I use Moroccan hair creme and Moroccan hair oil only. I use a blow dryer with a diffuser so it doesn't get too frizzy. I stop drying when it is still slightly damp and then finger curl it. My avatar was taken over a month ago, so my hair is longer now. It reminds me of the hairstyles from the 40's and 50's.

I have no clue if this picture will show up but here is a pic of me with my new hair do. My last chemo was Oct 13th. So it's been 4 months.

Stacy you look great! I love your length and color - mine seems to be curling up now. I have an appt for a haircut next week!

Bobsgirl, my head itched like crazy but it did not hurt. I have read of others saying it hurt when it fell out and mine didn't so maybe that is why it didn't hurt as it grew back and yours does.
Stacy, you look great! Any sign of the curls?

Hi, thanks for the support!
Ann - no sign of curls yet. My stylist said I'm lucky with the texture of my after chemo hair.

Hello everyone and thank You all for lovely comments!!
Ann97: I'm going to Turkey in May !! really looking forward it , i bet my hair once exposed to the warm sun and wind-will grow much mooore in the week then in the months hidden under wig
Carrol2: My last Chemo was September 17th but I shaved my hair again (with tears in my eyes lol) at the beginning of November as my newly grow hair were very uneven and thin so decided to make space for the proper hair
Joanne58: Thank You! It wasn't difficult to keep cancer thing to myself as I don't have any family in country that i'm currently living .although i decided to tell the truth when asked but somehow noone ever asked the question(most people rather thinks i have new haircut)
StacyA: You look absolutely fantastic!!! I love Your hair color and haircut too!

Hi ladies
I am currently undergoing TAC treatment every 3 weeks. I have had two so far and my third is scheduled for next week. I didn't cut or shave my hair and still have a thin coverage. I have been using Nioxin since about six weeks before starting treatment so am not sure if this is a factor in me retaining some hair. (I prefer my current look to being bald).
I don't quite understand the science of the hair loss but am wondering what would happen if I started to use the Rogaine that MJB recommended, while still having chemo, so as to stimulate new hair growth as soon as possible? Would there be any contraindications with the chemo and would it work do you think?
Dominika, by the way, I have also kept my condition a secret. Only 2 people know about it. This has worked for me so far. But I am not working so it's easier when I am not seeing people every day.
Please answer my question if you can. Happy hair growing ladies!

Stacy, you look great. Love your color and hairdo. No curls yet?

Scalp rather itchy....could it be hair popping through. I am patient though cuz it's only been 2 wks. since my last treatment.
Well wishes to us all! Hang in there. Anybody got spring fever like me????

Fighter: The itching scalp IS sign of new growth! Yay!
Rocket: You are soooo right! It IS like a style from another era, but it looks great on you and my what a lot of hair you have!
Rogaine is not for everyone! I had hair loss issues prior to BC. I wasn't going to use it and then I started noticing my hair fall out again due to lack of hormones so you younger gals who have NOT gone into chemo pause or menopause wouldn't have any need for it--just have to have PATIENCE!
