Carol:  The 183 topical Solution will help eep the hair on your head.  I use it in the morning 10 minutes before syling my hair.  Keep using it everytime your head tingles and then you can taper off to just the am!  It works!  Kills all those awful male hormones that kill the hair and make it fall out.  Nioxin and biotin isn't enough!  The minoxidyl stimulates hair growth which neither of those do!

OK--I'm 6 weeks from my last AC tx and I STILL have no new growth and the same, spikey little 1/4 " hairs covering my head after my husband shaved it months ago.No white fuzz--no sign of any growth.  Anyone have to wait longer than 6 weeks? Thanks for any encouragement!

My hair came back about as thick as before except the top, which I do notice is much thinner.  I'm going for a cut after work today and am thinking of going quite short again.  Still on the fence but my bangs are hanging in my eyes and I'm tired of them.  I miss it being shorter!

MBJ you like the Rogaine for men better than the nioxin? Are you suggesting i add the 183 in addition to the nioxin. I am using the nioxin shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment 1x a day. I don't have much hair at all, although it is all over my head,  you cans till see my scalp I am 9 weeks PFC. My eyebrows are growing in like crazy i have to shape them, I did not even realize how thin they got i was jsut glad i still had them. My top eyelashes got really long and some of the bottoms came out and new ones started to grow the next day.

I appreciate yours and everyone's opinion on this my doctor does not advocate anything to speed up the hair growth. She said she has pateints that use things but no one has said they knew that it had helped. I think she wont suggest anything unless it is FDA approved for it.

Hi All!! I've been so busy between getting back to work and my puppy and kitty I haven't had much energy to be online. Thanks to all who commented about my horrendous "date". He was someone I've known since we were kids and we just reconnected. We'll definitely stay friends but nothing more. It's funny i can't even see a glimmer of the guy I once loved. Sad actually. We spoke the next day and I told him I wanted to stay in touch but that I didn't feel like he was ready to date and after much moaning he agreed. I am a reformed smoker and a lot of my friends still smoke but certainly not around me. I just thought it was rude not only to smoke in front of me but to make me stand in the cold while you do it! .UGH! It was good practice and a bit of an ego boost so I guess not a complete bust.

Kate I can't believe how fast your hair has grown. My hair has blossomed in the last month but the crown of my head is still so short and I have some areas where it is just starting to grow. I think once those spots fill in I will feel better.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. It's tax time for me so my weekends are filled with TAXES! I swear my life is just sooooo exciting these days. I am still so exhausted from surgery that I can barely make it past 10pm. I am going out with friends this weekend so we'll see how long I make it. I am looking forward to a ORANGE CRUSH!! YUM! Now if only I could have grapefruit I'd be oh so happy!

    Happy weekend!!

    Diane

Katherine - You continue to have great regrowth.  Thinking back on your other pictures, I think my regrowth is following about the same pattern as yours, maybe slightly slower.

I will be curious to see if your curls come back.  There are lots of posts here by newly curly-haired people, but I don't think I have seen anyone who was naturally curly before.  I have heard you get the opposite of what you had.  I had naturally curly too and, as much as I complained about it for most of my life, I now really want it back.

Carrol2:  The minoxidyl works by stimulating the scalp and the nioxin helps keep it on the head.  I prefer the 183 Topical for keeping it on the head as it's less expensive and all natural.  As for the mens' minoxidyl, ask your dr if it's okay.  I think that it has made a huge difference in how much hair I have but I would never insist on anyone doing what I do or make them do something they don't feel commfortable doing.  I just know so many are having trouble and they are further along then you are.  I didn't have much to start with and I know  stopping the hormones can make it worse.

KCMomx3 - Sally's Lustre Cream is awesome...my favorite styling item.

I got at least 2.5 inches cut off the back on my hair yesterday and got it shaped all over.  I finally have a real style. It's short and I'm really happy with it.  Now, let's see what happens when I wash and style it myself tomorrow...lol

Not a lot of pics on here with super curly hair like mine.   I thought that was the norm after chemo?

Joanne- yes I had to wait longer than 6 weeks.  It was more like 10 weeks.  Then it took off.  Most of us have dark hair or dark/gray so all of a sudden, you will see a distinct hairline and the top will have color!  Since you see it every day, you may not notice, but week by week, there will be a difference, and then along about 12 weeks, you'll have something you can actually call hair!  3-4 weeks later you'll be dragging out the hairdryer, if only for 2-3 minutes :)

I know your impatience...getting back the hair is a major step toward feeling like you are truly 'recovering'.  It WILL happen and soon!

When my hair was started sprouting through late last March, I had my DH take my photo every Wednesday.  Just as Ruth said above, you can't see the growth much yourself from day to day but the difference was really noticeable in the Wednesday night photos when I compared a few weeks in a row.  I did this for about 6-8 weeks until I stopped wearing my wig in May.

Joanne, I know how you feel. I think it took about 9 weeks after my last treatment before I saw real sprouts coming up and the little fuzzy stuff begin to disappear.

FearlessOne:  It seems to go one extreme or the other.  Mine came in really curly, but I straighten the heck out of mine otherwise I look like Mike Brady or like I have an old lady perm Surprised!  If I just let it air dry, it's super curly and super short!

Thanks SOOO much, Ruth, Sugar and Westie! I saw my onc. today and had my first "melt-down," crying in front of her for the first time.  I had taken off my wig to show her my lack of hair growth, and I just lost it--so embarrassing!  I never cried when I lost my hair--stayed strong and took it in stride--but now that chemo is over, you're so right; normalcy is back on my mind.  Hair regrowth has become a bigger issue for me than I realized it would.

Your comments mean the world to me today.  They'll get me through these next weeks of waiting and watching and hoping!

MBJ, I tried a flat iron, and it made it look like I got electrocuted.   I just can't seem to do anything.   I have shine serum, which help tame the frizzies, but I still look like a poodle.

I thought cutting it would help "remove" some of the curl, but it didn't.   It just made it shorter.

Fearless_One:  Mine did the same thing in the beginning!  Get the Marc Anthony Straight and finger style it until it gets longer.  Also, the anti frizz serum is useless at this length.  The only thing that worked until mine was at least 4" long was the Marc Anthony.  It instantly straightens your hair.  Yeah, I looked like Albert Einstein with white hair sticking straight out.  Couldn't use a blow dryer or a flat iron that early.

39 days PFC and still just fine white fuzz..., but the fuzz is getting longer.  Can someone please explain to me what the deal is with this  fuzz- does it all fall out when "real" hair starts coming in?  Or will the real hair grow in with this fine white stuff on the tips of it?
