I'm with LuvRVing no shaving and may never cut it again - lol.0

That is a good point, hair grows in cycles and there will probably always be longer sprouts! I am shaving just until it feels somewhat solid, I still had shiny bald area for a long time, now I have more coverage. For some reason I just couldn't handle those crazy stragglers! Especially since they were white! My neckline is horrible, well not yet. I have 3 low v's that grow down further than it should, it is why I never wore my hair short. I will probably have to shave it to make a nice hairline until it gets long enough, or just let it grow and cover it up until it has a little lenght. Oh I hated that part last time.

Before my hair started to sprout I thought about shaving it until it was even but as it started growing I'm afriad to cut anything!! Although my husband is going to trim around the ears just to make it look a little neater, I think I want it to fill out a bit before I go for length.

I am not shaving anything, I dont even want to trim lol!

As ugly as it is, I am darned proud of my crispy chemo stubble that hung on for the ride - not about to part with it now and no way will there be trimming of any kind until I have enough for an actual haircut.\

smithy i had almost even coverage as it came in except one thinner spot right on the top of my head in the back. I started going completely topless at about 6 months but still went without a hat once in a while at 4 months. At some point I just came to terms that this is what its, so work with it. I never shaved it or even cut it. I just waited and let it do whatever it was going to do. We can do lot's of things to improve our appearance and I went crazy with makeup, and earrings, and trying to cover up my distorted body. But I looked my best as I learned to accept the new me.0

Morning Ladies, I know we've discussed how long we should wait before using permanent hair color but I forget. I'm 3 months PFC on Tuesday, think I'm ok going topless with a buzz but it needs to be a decent color if I'm going to try.

Hi guys ...I NEVER cut a mil. off either. No way! I colored my hair as soon as it was a little over an inch. You are right we hairdressers a a very impatient lot. Just the blond picked my spirits up imediately.
Yes, I worked through my whole chemo. Had chemo on Fridays and my day off was Mon. so I took Tues. off as well just to make sure I was over the 3-4 day crap feeling, and I was good to go.
I wore a short wig and people said it was so natural they couldn't tell it was a wig. I have to agree.I loved the style. Now my hair is sooo much thinner because of Letrozole.
Smithy...why not let it grow and when you see it's turning darker have the top part cut up to it. I am thinking you don't color? Through some color on and then you don't have to worry about fuzzy white stuff. It's amazing how color conditions and calms down yucky hair. It will look much healthier.
Back94...Were you not tested for the Brca gene the first time around with BC? Why was it decided to be tested the second time? Just curious after reading your.Dx.
Thanks

I just mailed a package at the post office, the mail clerk complimented me on my "haircut." I just laughed and told him it wasn't exactly a haircut, but it is growing out after chemo. He asked how I am doing, as he was treated for prostate cancer three years ago. Then he gave me a Livestrong bracelet. Such a nice encounter.
I am now 22 weeks PFC, and had a very slight "shape-up" a week ago, along with some hair color. I do not regret the little trim, as it looks more like a style, and it was sticking out on the sides. My part is now on the opposite side as that seems to be the way it wants to go. My goal is to have the same hair style as Kris Jenner. Longish on top but still short. Pre-chemo, I had chin length hair, and my wig was a bit longer.
Glad to see everyone doing so well!

Yay Robo47!!! Congrats on being done with chemo at last - hope you are feeling OK!
I am a whopping 8 days PFC, have had a rough week with SEs and general fatigue, but am getting better every day, and trying to stay away from the mirror.
I am sooooo anxious to have hair and I will happily take whatever grows.... I have a great wig, even had a sales clerk at a store ask me if I'd mind telling her where I get my hair done (I told her I went to Portland, which technically is true - I bought the wig there - saw no point in embarrasing her by telling her I was wearing wig because I have no hair). 0 -
No shaving for this girl, bring on the straggles! 7 wks pfc today, and head is filling in and am starting to see some darker color.

I haven't shaved either. I am at 11 weeks pfc and may put some colour on. I am just now starting to get eyelashes
. I didn't think it was going to happen. It's a good thing too because I tried false lashes and they ended up everywhere but on my eyelids. What a disaster. 0 -
I did it! I went topless last night and it was awesome!
As some of you know, I've been thinking about it for a while. I even went topless when I went for a run in the dark just to try it out for myself first... posted my new hair on caringbridge to get some close suppoorters' reactions... and have been talking with you all here. Last night, after an itchy day, I decided the setup was perfect to give it a try. My BF and I were going to meet a friend at a town about an hour away from us. I figured nobody knows me there, so why not? Not only did I not get quite as many bizarro looks, but our friend's reaction was like "wow... you look... healthy!" He said it was a big improvement over the scarves and that really reinforced things for me.
So, now that it's the weekend, I'm going to try running errands and such topless. I suspect that by Monday I will be ready to go for it at work, which for some reason is the most difficult place for this kind of change. Although, my coworkers have been amazingly supportive all along, so I don't know what I'm so worried about.....
Thanks for letting me share! Hope to post some updated pics soon!

Congrat's Kat - I go shopping and run errands topless and it does feel great. Haven't tried at work yet, still have some time before that happens I think.

Yay, Kat!!! I could never wear a scarf as I felt it always made me look "sick". There was just something about it. Congrats on comments that you look healthy, that is such a great reaction from people!

Way to go all the topless sistas!!!!!! SOON SOON

yeah Kat! It does feel great, work was the last place for me, but I did it only after about a week of going without it everywhere else.

Congratulations, Kat! It was such a relief to go to work topless. I was nervous driving in the first day, but after I walked In the door and saw the first few people, the nervousness was gone. I too started gradually running errands first and the first time I went to the grocery store I ran into one of my DDs friends and her mom. She sent my DD a text and told her I looked hot with short hair! So sweet and just what I needed to boost my confidence.
Good luck at work Monday ... You will be so happy you did! Yay!!

Thanks EVERYONE for the encouragement. Here I am today, a little past 13 weeks PFC. Funny how I have needed a gradual approach to get to this point. I think I'm as ready as I will ever be.
KSteve, I was totally nervous driving into work the first day I wore a scarf. But like you describe, after those first few reactions, it's like "ok.. phew." And then it's time to get on with life!

Feeling so good. Thanks again to you all!!!
