    kmmd,

I would say it is probably the real thing!!!  I was 6 weeks out of chemo when I became sure my hair had started to regrow.  It has now been four more weeks and my whole head is covered with about a 1/4 inch.  I know it is growing every single day and getting thicker too,  My husband was gone from Monday to Friday this week on business and could not believe the difference when he got back last night.  So hooray for you, it is coming.   I have already gone to ball caps, no wig or scarves, couldn't wait to toss them.  But in reality I know it will be at least another six months before I can do anything to make it look like a real hairstyle, but who cares, it is hair!!!!!

Kmmd, by God woman! You've got hair!!! :) I agree with Caren! Ithink that is the start, the timing sounds right! Sounds like "five oclock shadow"!!!

TowDow, I used a whole bottle of Nioxin "Hair Folicle Stimulator" once chemo stopped. I have nice hair coverage, though not sure if it would have been the same without it. I also have a Nioxin "mouse" like thing I use for fun. My ONC and nurse said they thought my hair was coming in faster than others, I have no idea if it really worked, except for that comment. I thought, what the hay.

Caren and Susan! My homies! I seem to remember Snuffy's the name but not much more. GO SCARLET KNIGHTS! LOL. I used to take riding lessons up there in Basking Ridge somewhere. I could pretend I was among the rich folks. lol.

I am a couple weeks from ditching the wig and feeling more and more comfortable with my ball cap.I honestly think it is a process of ME getting used to it, not anybody else. Same when I started wearing the Wig... My short hair is so cute. I have had people tell me I don't need the cap, that it looks like an edgy European type do. ha!!!

    Spring...

    YAY FOR HAIR!!!!

    Hi Jess,

Mine started at about six weeks out of chemo and I think that is about the average.  I am now almost 11 weeks out and my head is covered with about a 1/4 inch of very soft hair.  Everyone likes to rub my headWink.  Be patient, it does grow.  I know I have to be patient that it will still be many months before I have a couple of inches.  I am already comfortable enough to go with just a baseball cap...............it is hot here in Florida and I couldn't wait for the freedom from the scarves and wig, although my wig looked great.  I just want to  be natural me again.

Some people have reported their hair starting to regrow while still in treatment, but I think that is very, very rare.

Hang in there........................we all get there.

I had 3X FEC and then 3X Taxotere, and mine began growing about six weeks after the last FEC--so while I was still in treatment, but after the last of the FEC. The T apparently didn't affect my hair growth. it's now (4 weeks after the last T, about 8 weeks after the last FEC) about 3/4 inch, fuzzy and grey/white. It looks like a halo when the light is behind my head!

So it may depend on the treatment schedule. My hair is doing pretty well, my fingernails however...well, less said the better!

I'm about 2 months out of chemo and I have about 1/2 inch or so of fuzzy hair. I still have that "male pattern baldness" spot up front where there is maybe 1/8 inch or less of stubble....grrr. I hear that's the last to grow in. I'm pretty proud of my hair when I'm in the shower cuz when it's all wet and I rub it forward and flatten it out most of my scalp is actually covered with hair. tee hee hee.  Yes, I sing in the shower too!

Jess to give you an idea on hair growth here was mine.

    5 months after

    almost 6 months after

As you can see there was a growth spurt in just 3 weeks.

Jess I think mine was trying during my last Taxols, but didn't really make a good showing until after. It started slow but it does keep going.

MsKarin!!! I love those pics!!! I am about 4 months out now and have about an inch and a quarter everywhere. BUT LOOK AT YOU AT 6 months woman!!! I cannot wait. I am marking my calendar! LOL. That will be May for me, and May 1 is my birthday. Wouldn't that be the nicest present?? Enough hair to look more "blend in able" for my Bday!!! Woot!

Stay, Torch, and Carin, I would say mine was exactly as you all describe...

Forgot to mention my current avatar was taken almost two weeks ago after my first trim. Seven and a half months since last treatment. I've learned how to manage and control my unruly chemo curls.

Karin - I hope I have as much hair in a couple of weeks as you did at 2 1/2 months post chemo.  My last chemo was Jan 19 and I mostly have just fuzz, nothing measurable.  It is growing though.  2 weeks ago, I had no eyebrows and yesterday I had them waxed.  My husband thought I was nuts, but they grew in so straggly that I had to get them cleaned up.  They look normal again, and I have lashes, too.  Never thought I'd be so grateful for the little things.

    Well said Stacy!

MsKarin, your hair looks really good and healthy.

I am due to take another pic next weekend of mine. I am taking one at the end of every month. Mostly for my mom, she bugs me all the time for a picture. She would take one every day if I would send one! I will be 6 months from last chemo.

Spring,  you didn't post a pic of your new color!

    To HAIR!

    Susan,

You made me smile with very fond memories of Snuffy's, but I hate to tell you how long ago it was.  We moved from NJ to Long Island in 1957, so my Snuffy days were prior to that, but I do remember going and enjoying dinner as a young child.  I left Jersey just when they were starting those left turns from the right lanesSurprised.  If any of you ladies have never lived in NJ you cannot appreciate that phenomenon.  And just when I got used to making lefts from the left lane, I landed back in NJ for ten years.   I have been in Florida for the last 6 years and driving here is really an experience.

Wow, this is so exciting, a whole post and I never said....................................bc.   Things are looking brighter...........................lol.

Okay ... here is my hair four months post ... I love it!!!!! Except I would like more bangs. I have a little dent in my forehead from crawling into a coffee table corner as a baby. I am using Swarzkopf's got2Bglued to control the unruly hair.

And, I colored it immediately when it started coming in, when it was only 1/4 in. long, because it was all gunmetal gray! Didn't like that! I use Clairol's Natural Instincts which was as close as I could get to the truly natural color I used to use in Chicago - no health food store with color here. I suppose has chemicals in it but I have had breast cancer not scalp cancer so I am not going to worry about it. This color is a little darker than I used to use pre-chemo, it is 28B Roasted Chestnut. I'm really not a blond.

I was at an AA meeting tonight where a good friend was celebrating his 17th sober anniversary.  So, there was a SRO crowd.  My niece and her husband were there (yes, addiction IS hereditary) with my new grand-niece.  During the break, I was showing a couple of women how much my hair looked like the baby's hair.  They told me I looked better without the "do rag," so I went the 2nd half of the meeting "topless."  A lot of people told me I looked less "sickly" with my short little do

Annie, your hair looks cute on you. Looks as tho it is starting to curl!

Here is my most recent. 6 months of growth, about 2" long, altho you can't tell, as it is SOOOOOO CURLY! The color I put on it earlier is all faded and gone now, this is the natural color. Close to my previous color, but I think I had more red than what is in it now. There is a lot of gray, which I had before, but you reallly couldn't see it cuz it blended in with the natural highlights in my hair.

i heart this thread. i never buzzed, so i still have some hair - albeit sad and sparse. i can't help but wonder, since i have naturally wavy hair, if mine will come back pin straight. i'd so LOVE that! but of course i will embrace the unruly curls, too.

one good thing about the wig - i don't dread the upcoming humidity. the other day it was drizzling, and i was like, hey, i finally have impermeable hair!

thank you for the beautiful pictures. you all have lifted my semi-bald spirits immensely!
