    Spring, congrats on going topless!

Nancy, your hair looks EXACTLY like mine! I need to color mine again, but don't think I can do another cut...........I might!

I have to use gel tho, otherwise it just doesn't look right.

Spring, can you see my new avatar? They're only variations of that (one side and slightly back shot).

    Congrats on going "topless".

Thanks, Goldie. The curls are something to deal with, though, aren't they? My daughter had very, very curly hair when she was little, and I always had trouble dealing with it. Thankfully, I had a babysitter with lots of patience who loved to comb out the knots in her hair. It was the only thing I "failed" at in motherhood, lol.

I'm tempted to let it grow and grow without a trim to see how long the curls last.

Nancy......it looks awesome.......great colour......very full.....like mine......yours is curlier though.......which is funny because my hair was curly before chemo.......still is.......but I expected tight curls like yours......I guess you neve know.

Spring.....congrats on going topless........once you go topless it's hard to go back......I'll bet you'll be ditching the caps pronto!

Karen......you will want to use the direct link code.....not the image code........and insert it using the little tree beside the smiley........sometimes have to do it twice.......not sure why.......stick with it.......you'll get it.

Spring - You go girl.  Topless is great isn't it??

NancyD - I love your color. Curls are something new for me, but I'll get the hang of it.

Well Karen, you are two months ahead of me (finished chemo Jan 6th) and this Caren is inspired and hoping I look like you in two months.   My head is covered with growth, but certainly not more than an inch if that much.  I am hoping it rings true that all of a sudden it really takes off..............you have given me so much hope.  You look GREAT!!!!

Jax - Salon. It was growning in with more gray than before. And with the color I can see how fast it's growing. Roots ya know!!!!  I blow dry the top and sides and gel the back. Funny...no curl on the sides. It's curly everywhere else.

Thanks ladies....you give me more confidence.

Nancy, I see the pics now!!! I love it ! Your head band "prop" is adorable! Fab color...

Karen, you look GREAT!!! I had my last chemo on Nov 10, so just behind you. I can see that a nice trim to clean it up makes a world of difference (compared to mine right now!) That is now high on my list!

I went "topless" all day and ladies, I think I am over the ball cap!!! We are meeting an out of state friend for lunch at a nice place tomorrow, and I am going topless again. This is the plan! Doing it today was the thing, got me used to it!! Thanks for all the sisterly support!!

I am so jealous of all of you. My last Chemo was 12/5 and I have maybe an inch of very thin, fine, straight hair. My scalp shows everywhere! I am on Herceptin (slows regrowth) and Arimidex (thins hair). My hair was also thin before but nothing like this. I may be in my wig forever!

To the several ladies who have growth but find it still thin...hang in there. I started out thin, too, which is why I wore my wig for four months after chemo ended. I only ditched it when my scalp was not showing through. The hair was still kind of short, 1/2" to 1", but with the scalp covered I felt comfortable going without the wig.

My hair is now about 3" long and the thickness (amount of hair) compares to my pre-chemo days. The curl is pretty soft, but small. No frizzies. My daughter wants to try a flat iron on it, but I'm not sure it has enough to grab...it's still pretty fine. I'm willing to let it go for now, as it's different and it's gotten many complements (makes you think about how you looked before, eh?)

    Karen,

You look wonderful! What a cute do! Nancy, you look great, too! I think some of our new hair dos are better than our old ones! I know my hair is curlier, less frizzy, which is an improvement. May not last, as I too am headed for Arimidex and my hair had a wave but not a tight curl before. Just tended to look messy.

Hi ladies.  I have a question.  I am 1 year and 7 months past chemo,,,,,,,and almost a year past herceptin.  My hair has come back,,,,,,,,,but it is extremely thin.  I can deal with the back being thin,,,,,,,,,,but omgggggggg the top is awful.  You can see my scalp.  My son took a picture of me at the museum the other day,,,,,,,,,,,and I was just horified at how thin it looked.  Dont know if it was the light in there or what,,,,,,,,,,,but just absolutely depressing.  I have used Nioxin and I take Biotin every day (I heard that helps with hair growth).  I am just sick about this.  Should I continue to be more patient,,,,,,,,,,,or is this the best its gonna be.  I stopped using the Nioxin,,,,,,cause I wasnt really sure it was helping.  Has anyone had permanent thinning of their hair?  I was on taxotere, carbo and herceptin.  Please help with suggestions on things that really truly worked for you all,,,,,,,,,,,,,or would like to hear from others on permanent hair thinning.  The one thing I had a hard time with during my journey was losing my hair,,,,,,,,,,was told it would grow back (which it did),,,,,,,,,,,and now I'm back in the same depressing mood about this.  Any comment would be appreciated.  I am desperate.

    Thank you

Springtime,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,o yes, I take Biotin every single day.  Thats why I am asking this question.  Any other ideas ladies.  omg,,,,,,,,,,,,is this the best its gonna be?  This seeing my scalp is really getting to me.  Depressing to say the least.

My last Taxol (weekly) was March 31st...peach fuzz started growing in while I was on the taxol, but it's not growing by any leaps and bounds, very slowly...Would it grow faster if I shaved it off? OR has anyone tried this....Gotta figure, your hair on your legs grows fast after shaving it, just wondering.....

I am just over a year post chemo .. also had taxotere, carboplatin and Herceptin. My hair is way thinner than it was prechemo.  It is growing (about 3 inches long now) in length and finally much more quickly now that the Herceptin is done.  I am on tamox right now but recently had an oomph and I know my onc wants me to switch to Arimidex.  What i hate is how thin it is on my part side and at the crown of my head.  I will be so distressed if it stays like this !!!!

Everyone who posted pics of hair progress .. hair looks great... and funny how so many have tight curls, wonder why.  My hair came in wavy but not curly.  I use a flat iron to clean it up a bit.

I know what you mean Kimbly.  Mine is also wayyyyyyyy thinner than it used to be,,,,,,,,and yes,,,,,,,,I am with you on the top where the part is.  Its just so thin,,,,,,,it sucks.  I dont take estrogen and I am ER/PR negative so dont take tamox.  Wonder if being menopausal and not taking estrogen has an effect on the hair thinning.  Any comments on that issue?  I go to the onc for my 4 month follow up on Tues and believe me,,,,,,,,,,,,this is gonna be a big question to ask her.  I haaaaaaaaaaaate this seeing the scalp.  The one thing I absolutely hated about chemo was losing my hair,,,,,,,,,,,and now this crap of thinning hair.  Is this payback for me being obsessed about losing my hair to begin with?  I read where people use Rogaine,,,,,,,but I guess if you stop using it your hair will fall out and go back the way it was.  Seems pointless.  Wonder if there is a supplement other than Biotin to take to help the hair grow back in.

    Springtime,

Just wanted to know that after reading some of your recent posts you inspired me and I took the leap today and went topless!!!  It is so freeing.   I am much further behind you since I only finished chemo on Jan 6th, but I felt the time was right and....................it is just so darn hot here already.

First I took my morning walk.............no hat, then I went to the movies..................no hat, then we went out to dinner....................no hat, and guess what.................no one looked at me, no one cared and I was so much more comfortable.

So just in case you were wondering how the support on these boards is working, it is working great................thanks for getting me there.
