Crazyride - try copying and pasting the link to your timeline.  It has to be hosted on a website like Photobucket, Picasaweb, Flickr, Shutterfly, etc.

Thanks LoveRVing.  Let's see if this works...I am a little technologically challenged!

Crazy ride - I love that "stuffed animal on my head!"  Your hair is growing in quickly!  I am 7 weeks PFC, am also taking photos and think I am slightly behind you in terms of growth - but that's okay!  It's coming in!  Joan

Crazy ride love the timeline. I am doing a weekly timeline too. Just haven't uploaded it to a website. But it really helps to see that it is gradually growing. I just finished my taxol 11 days ago and am looking forward to the growth accelerating and maybe getting my color back. And my eyelashes and brows, they didn't fall out until near the end of chemo. I am glad to hear they come back so fast. Can't wait!

    Hi Crazyride

You're very near my PFC date of April 20. You're ahead of me too and way darker.  Mine seems to be laying flat but I often wonder at what point it will start to curl (or not).

crazyride, you have lots of hair!  Great pics.  If you haven't seen my timeline, there is a link in my signature to view them.  I am over 1 year pfc.

I am 5 months PFC and have total coverage. It lays flat all over without any curl or wave whatsoever. I find that strange cause I always had thick sorta wavy hair that mostly did as I wanted. Because I am quite comfy going topless I am just letting nature take its course...no hair stuff at all other than daily tresemme shampoo. Decided not to colour it anymore...am 68 and had to stop at some point. This way there will be no gray roots! I have spoken to 3 gals that also lost their hair due to chemo and each one told me the same thing. It will take a full year to get your total regrowth like it was before chemo. OK, so I have another 7 months to go...after this last year, that is OK with me!

Just think how healthy your hair will be 1 year PFC with no colouring.  My DH's Aunt is around your age and 2 years ago went through TX.  She always died her hair but let it come in au natural and it looks amazing on her.  She even said she can't remember her hair being in such good condition prior to colouring on a regular basis.

Im 49 right now and there's a good bit of gray but I've been colouring it since my 30's.  It will be interesting to see how much there actually is.

My only beef is having had longish hair my whole life I didn't realize what big ears I had LOL!

    Edited to say "have".

Maureen   LOL...Yeah so far I like my grey hair...test will be...my DD is coming from Europe next week and I haven't seen her in 8 years...can't wait to see the expression on her face!  If she is in total shock, I might reconsider dying my hair !!

I'm so happy for you all getting your hair back.....

.I am at the stage of it falling out - will probably be bald in a couple of days and don't know how to handle this, knew it was going to happen but just not ready for it I guess.  I have had biopsies, surgery and all the waiting in between, plus had my first chemo treatment  but this just seems to be the worst, don't understand why I feel like this....is it normal?

Ellen, yes, it is totally normal. I was OK with the hair falling out, but when half my toenail broke off six months after chemo, I went into a deep funk for a few days. Totally dumb, but I think it just hit me what my poor body had been through.

ellendou, yes it's normal. I thought I was mentally prepared for my hair falling out, but when it actually happened, I cried and cried for days. I hated every minute of it and like most of us, once I was pfc, I became obsessed with hair growth. Oddly enough, once I got minimal coverage, I became less obsessed and went topless as soon as it was warm enough to do so. Now even though I'm keeping very short to control the weird curl, I'm happy with it. Hang in there, we all understand and empathize with what you're going through.

Yes you are completely normal.  I stressed more about losing my hair than my breast if you can beleive it and like the others am completely obsessed with it growing.  For me its like the most obvious part of having had cancer.  I can put on my foob and no one is the wiser but being bald just screams "I've had chemo!".

Ellendou, OMG very normal!  I cried too when I realized it was coming out and just bussed it, didnt want to watch fall out slowly.  It was the first time there were physical manifestations of my cancer that were changing me.  It made me look like a cancer patient.  I hated it.  I too am obsessed with my little bitty hairs now that they are coming back.  I am petting myself constantly and cant walk by a mirror with out checking out my head.  It can't come back fast enough.  I just cant wait until i can go topless.

Thanks - good to know it is not only me.  My DD is coming home to spend the day with me, so guess I will have her shave my head and help me learn to tie scarves and then may not feel quite as bad.

    Hugs to you all

ellendou...you are SO normal. For me, I accepted the hair was going, from the first second of diagnosis...I was fascinated in a weird sort of way. I had seen my best friend go thru this 13 years ago and she cried but she decided to put a decal that said DKNY on her temple and she never wore her wig or a scarf. She was a former flight attendant and was absolutely gorgeous and kinda vain, until this hit her. She didn't survive (it wasn't BC) but she was still extremely beautiful thru it all.

As for me, I have yet to shed a tear thru this whole thing....I kinda choose to ignore it as best I can. If I didn't I would go nuts! Good luck with the shaving...I just had it cut short and let it fall out on its own. Just took a few days.

Well I did it, think it was hard for DD to do it for me....but just have tiny stubble left....she was afraid to cut me, so we used the shortest blade protector thing....

Haven't been on for a while. PET scan on June 4th revealed brain mets and a tumor in the spinal column, although the Xeloda/Tykerb chemo made good headway on the lung tumors. Started WBR radiation on June 6th, had a vacation, and finished Thursday. Because I developed an infection in my arm, we are not starting chemo again until that is cleared up.

We are adding Herceptin back into the mix, and I did an H. drip on Friday. To finally get to the point Wink, My hair had started to grow back nicely, then fell out on the WBR. Will H. keep it from growing back, or was that the taxol I was on earlier?

I wore my wig to a wedding today for the first time. It will probably be my last time, too.  It was 101 degrees out. The wig was hot and gave me a headache. The tabs put sore spots on my ears.  I was tempted to rip it off in front of everyone. It will be scarves only from now on! I can't wait to go topless either!

rn4babies - sorry you had such a tough time with the wig.  I think it might be too big for you.  I have 3 wigs that I wore last summer.  One was professionally fitted and I had no issues with it, one was from a salon courtesy of ACS and the third was given to me by a friend whose SIL had worn it.  The only one that was comfy was the professionally fitted wig.  The one given to me by a friend hurt my ears exactly as you've described.  The cap was too big for my bare scalp and it was never comfortable and it would shift position even though I used double-sided tape to try and secure it.

Note that if you go wig shopping while you still have hair, that wig may not fit well once the hair is gone.

And if you want a different kind of head covering, be sure to check out the Good Wishes program - you can get a free head covering from them.  It is a wonderful program, they even send a card hand-signed by their folks.

Hello ladies!  It's been a while since I've posted here but I have been reading along.

I know it's been said here before, but I cannot stress enough the benefits to taking periodic pictures so you can see how things are progressing.  Last night I went out on the town with some girlfriends and took a pic of myself for the first time in months.  When I went to upload it this morning I was shocked at how far things have come along since the last pic I took (back in March or something).

A year ago, I had just shaved my head and was still reeling from the loss.  Here I am just shy of 10 months PFC.  I've been experimenting with fun headbands and such to try to add some "tame" to what otherwise might be kind of a wild look:

A work friend told me earlier this week she figures I've got about 3-3.5" of growth.  Hard to tell because the curls are SO tight! I only had one trim to get rid of the white fuzz early on, otherwise I've just been letting it do its thing.  It takes a lot of smoothing cream to keep the curl from frizzing in the muggy weather.

Thanks for letting me share.  Sending you all happy follicle vibes!Cool

I love the pictures everyone posts - you all look gorgeous! I'm 15 weeks PFC with only 1/2 inch of hair but it seems to be filling in nicely and I feel like I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel (although eyebrows would be nice...)

Anyway, if anyone's looking for a nice, little dressier, wide-brimmed hat, I'd like to recommend one from Anthropologie that's on sale now for $29.95. It's the Ligurian Floppy Hat - it's softer than other straw hats and I love the scarf feature which you can use to hide the lack of hair below the hat.
