momine, you are wayyyyyyyyyy too funny! Thanks for the laugh. I know, I know... everyone is waiting for their hair to grow back and now that mine is "reasonable" I'm waiting for the nice bush again :-). Oh, to be 47 and in menopause.0

My hair started "shedding" 4 days ago. My head is pretty sore. I know that that is normal. What I would like to know is if after my hair is gone will the soreness go away.
0 -
jojo...did you just start chemo? If so, after about the second treatment. the hair will be mostly gone and the soreness too. I didn't have any soreness more like itchiness.
0 -
jojo - my head was sore, too....kinda like when you have a tight ponytail in all day. The good news is that once I gave in and shaved it I felt much better. No more sore!
0 -
Jojo - my head hurt for several weeks even after I shaved it. I lost my hair 17 days after starting A/C Chemo. Rubbing my head helped, then it finally went away.

Haven't posted on here in a while. It's been about 10 months since my last chemo, and my hair is VERY curly! But I can finally have it colored, cut & styled! It took a while, but life feels normal for me once again. I updated my profile picture so you can see my re-growth at 10 months. It takes time, but it comes back.0

peachy-pie....You're looking GREAT! Nice to feel normal again isn't it?

Thank you!!! And it sure is! Took some time, but I made it through and once again I am enjoying life. I have a whole new outlook on Life too, I make everyday count.0

Ah, good. I am two months PFC and I have black fuzz. Seems like forever. Grrr.thanks for encouragement!

I am just about 5 1/2 months PFC and I have my first hair appointment next week. I have some gray at the temples that has to go! Also, the chemo curl is in full effect but just in the back. Need a little bit of a trim to keep it looking normal. Although I go topless outside of work, I plan on having a "new haircut" at work by the end of September. Only a handful of people at work know of my BC so my new hair unveiling needs to look like a reasonable cut. Cant wait to ditch the wig!
All of your hair progression stories are inspiring...thank you!

What's funny is I have (had)very curly hair, can't imagine it being much curlier than it was. please!!
I had a wig crisis just as the school year us about to star but have a new Paula Young wig that looks ok- at least today. Yes, it will be great to someday have hair connected to my head again. Not so hot and... Well, you know! No tabs that hit the mute button in your smartphone!!0 -
I haven't posted in a while either...trying to take a break from BC. I'm 6 months PFC and my formerly shoulder-length, straight, blonde-highlighted hair has come in completely gray and curly with cowlicks all over the place, so the sides of the top grow toward each other. I have absolutely NO idea what I'll do with this. Some people have encouraged me to keep it short and gray, but the gray makes me feel so much older. I feel almost invisible. But I am 64. Is it time to look my age?? I almost cry when I look at photos of me a year ago. Any words of wisdom?

WaveWhisper - I died my hair 2 months PFC. It was always dishwater blonde, first A/C chemo turned it black, so it left my hair black. It came in gray, gray, white, white and ugly. I had it dyed light brown so I could see it. FORGET THAT GRAY. Get rid of it, girl. If you don't like it, don't listen to anyone else. I felt 10 yrs younger on just my duck fuzz!! Heck no, it is not time to look your age. My niece, a hair stylist, says when it is white/gray it is a clean slate. You can be any color you want to be.
Oh and people said to me, are you going to ask your Oncologist about dying your hair so soon? I said, hell no. He pumped gallons of deadly poisons into me. I'm not worried about a little hair dye!

Wave whisper- never time to "look your age". My mom still dyes her hair at 86. She said every time she let it go gray people treated her like a helpless little old lady.
Some people like it gray and look great- if you don't then dye it.0 -
Wave -- dye it. You'll feel much better.

Well here is the other side of the coin...I am 68 and often wondered how I was gonna segue from dark (dyed) hair to my natural colour without the telltale roots! Well chemo took care of that for me...it came in white...turned salt and pepper and I LOVE it! As long as I wear makeup so I don't look too washed out I am fine with it. One less thing to worry about! To each his own.

wave 63 is not too old in my mind and I am 48. If you always used to dye your hair and you don't like the grey now then why not dye it again?? I had blonde hair pre chemo and I happened to like the way my dark hair is streaked with grey but it does make me feel old so I am growing it to my shoulders and then I will decide. I haven't posted a new pic in a while I amy try to do that tomorrow

WaveWhisperer my hair came back grey and black! I went topless at 13 weeks PFC. The next morning I was in the salon getting it colored. I felt so much better. BTW my mom at 75 still gets her hair dyed and will never stop… and she doesn't look her age. This is why we have hair dye! Go for it.0

Peachy pie you look great. Always encouraging to see someone further along who looks nice an normal!
8 weeks pfc now. I found some hair goo in my bathroom when I was cleaning out the cupboard and had some fun with it. I was finally able to get my hair to do something other than lay flat. I updated my avatar.0 -
JPL Your hair looks great. Mine is coming in a lot darker--mostly pepper, sprinkled with a little salt. SOme hairs are two inches long on the top, but I don't wnt to cut them. They are just the whispy feather like ones. Thinking about putting the goop on soon...
I say dye your hair if you don't feel comfortable. If mine came in all gray or white, that's what I would be doing.

Kjiberty, Wow two inches already! Your hair is growing faster than mine. You will need a haircut soon enough! That will be a nice milestone.

I was just looking at a phone photo of myself and realized that the gray hairs are considerably longer than the non grays. Weird. More grays than I had before it fell out. Boo. But at least it's hair.

Thanks, ladies, for all the replies, on both sides of the coin. If the gray makes me feel old and less like my old self, I think I will go ahead and dye it. Just this morning, I went into a little shop that I had frequented many times, and the owner said she didn't recognize me.
OK, so now that I'm past the first step, should I try a non-permanent, temporary rinse or two to see what shade I want? (Or take my "old hair," which I saved when I got buzzed, to a salon for a close match?)
And now that I've gone back and read some past pages, I realize the cowlicks I was describing have given me what a lot of gals are calling the "faux hawk." How are y'all dealing with that?
Again, many thanks!

My hair is growing but it is so thin and whispy that my scalp is still not covered. UGH - guess more time...tick...tock..tick...tock!

JP-the hair is not two inches all over--ust the tall whispy gray ones! The rest is about 3/4 inch thick.
Kim: Don't know if it's helping, but I take biotin and use Bosley Shampo and conditioner.
