Crazyride, you look great! (Some of your pix remind me of the designer on HGTV's "Love It or List It"!!) I still have more chemo curl than you do, even at 19 months PFC. Wish it would calm down.

Ha ha...Love it or List it is one of my favorite shows, and if I look even a tiny bit like Hillary I will take that as a HUGE compliment.  Thanks WaveWhisperer!  My hair is much more curly than this right out of the shower or right after I work out.  The style you see is created using much product, blowdrying extensively with small round brush and then using my mini straightening iron. Laughing  High maintenance!

Your hair looks so thick and healthy and the only word I can think to describe your hair on the back of the word is ABUNDANT!

Just my 2 cents... I lost my hair twice during chemo. I stopped treatments in May of 2008, 5 yrs ago.  My hair is thicker and healthier now than it has been in over 25 yrs. In addition it is fast growing and long.... My hair is to my waist and I have had regular trims over last 3 years... It does come back and it can be very healthy. I dye my hair to cover grays. If my camera was working, I would post a pic .... maybe later .

    @DeliriumPie:

My wife did DD A/C, then 12 weeks of weekly Taxol.

I realize that everyone is different and I don't know whether you're doing 12 Taxol or DD Taxol x 4 treatments...

But my wife kept losing hair after A/C was done until cue ball bald during Taxol. Lost it all. Then around the 8th week of Taxol, she started getting the white baby-bird fuzz. It started coming in stronger after 11 weeks of Taxol, ash grey in color (she's normally reddish blonde). Now we're about 5 weeks after last Taxol and the pace of re-growth has quickened markedly. Her top and front are about 3 weeks behind her sides and back, but the rate has caught up, it seems. Everytime I look at her, she has more hair. It's coming in steadily.

    I hope this helps you.

    God bless.

Wow--love the updated pic.  Carroll--you hair is really long.  Mine is still super curly.  Like a tight perm.  It's 11 months PFC. I keep it short, like Lago, and use a flat iron on the top.  Still looks like a tight perm all over if I don't do something about it. Not complaining...That's for sure.

Thanks for the info Colt45. I am doing 4 dd taxol starting next week. I still have not lost any more hair yet but my brows are thinning quite a bit now. I guess all I can do is wait and see what comes!

Has anyone successfully grown out chemo curl?  Mine looks like a tight perm.  If I cut it super short and plaster it with product it looks decent but I'm tired of the hassle.  I like longer curly hair but I dread the growing out stage.  I thought the curl would settle down on its own but if anything it's getting more curly as it grows.

Did anyone do extensions when you're hair started growing back? I really miss my hair and it will be at least another year, maybe two before it gets back to its original length. I'm impatient already...I felt like I was going to have a heatstroke with my wig on yesterday and it was only 86 degrees. I have one more treatment so it will be a while before I can even plan for extensions but just wondering if anyone else had tried and had any luck with them?

Lw0919 there was a woman on here that got extensions and had a great result with them. When your ready you should discuss it with your salon. My pink hair is extensions but its been 2 years since my last infusion. But mine are these tiny clips that they kind of rivet into your hair instaed of the old glue type and they can undo them and resuse the hair another time.

    Good morning ladies!

So I was looking in the mirror this morning and I'm convinced my scalp looks different. It's not as bright, it seems darker... I don't want to jinx it, but could this mean my hair is growing?! I'm currently having Taxol (3/12) and Herceptin (1/13).

I have some white fluff all over my head, and some dark stubblies, but it just looks different. Am I crazy??? Haha.

Also has anyone uses Nioxin? And if so which number line? Any vitamins/supplements I should check out? I miss my hair so much I'm willing to try anything!!!

I'm taking biotin, 5mg once a day. It's supposed to be good for growing hair and finger/toenails. Figured can't hurt, might help, so why not? No point in starting until chemo is over, though. I'm 4 mo PFC and just started going "topless". :-) It's not long enough that anyone would think I cut it that way on purpose, but it's enough to keep my head warm at least. :-)

I am hoping to find some info about extensions as well.  My hair is now covering my head and just a little growth.  I am trying to find out how much growth I need to even get extensions, and maybe if anyone can recommend a salon in the NY/NJ area.

most of mine went away except for in the back!  I have had it cut several times and have finally decided to keep it short and uncolored. I defiantly have different hair than I did before

My chemo curl grew out after a year from my last treatment. I got it all trimmed off. It was depressing to cut off hair growth.

Right now I am trying to resist the urge to cut my hair.

My hair texture started to return to normal after a year. About 18 months it was pretty close to my old hair but I never had chemo curl. I did have a different texture and more wave. I'm almost 2.5 years post chemo and my hair has been my old hair for quite some time now.

My hair is growing back completely gray. I had colored it for years. At 49 I can't decide whether to take this opportunity to toss the hair dye forever or to color it so that it draws less attention to myself after I toss the wig. Has anyone ditched the dye? Any regrets?

I just turned 49 and am 15 months pfc and have no regrets coloring my hair, that's for sure. I'm not going to throw in the towel yet. Before cancer I was thin with long blond hair. Now I'm fat with short hair. Why be grey too? You should do what makes you feel your best. So I colored my hair and am working really hard to lose this weight. Good luck !

Hair dye is the best gift given to older women! I have been dying my hair since I was 40. Diagnosed at 49, turned 49+1 2 weeks PFC. Dyed my hair again at 13 weeks PFC. Trust me  you will feel so much better with your old color back. I felt like an old lady when my hair came back black and gray. (I have brown hair not black).

I was 49 too when DX!  I had been dying my hair since my early 30's for fun.  When my hair started to grow after chemo, I was shocked to see how much gray there was LOL!  I died it about 8 weeks later with a temp colour and it looked like I had more hair.  I was resisting the urge to cut as well but 2 weeks ago had a trim (2nd one) and I'm 14 months PFC.  It was a hot mess so it looks a little better now.  I have to update my pic for sure. I still can't wait to get my shoulder length bob that I had before.  I'm just one of those people that doesn't suit short hair, never did.

I kind of liked the grey streaks in my hiar but it did make me feel old. So I covered some of it and left some of it, of course then I added hot pink extensions so I am hoping it all makes me look younger. I think the next time though I will cover all the grey. i don't want to look old even if I feel it.

fyi I am also really fat now Frown
