shoppygirl.  What color is your hair?

I left a tip earlier to fill in white hair with spray-on dry shampoo.   Helps me quite a bit!

My eyelashes are growing in crazy!  Lower ones are curling up toward my eye.   Some seem like thick whiskers !  Hope they calm down !

hollyhope, this is me at 4 wks PFC and then yesterday at 3 months. I was/am a slow grower but it's coming now!! So don't give up hope. At 4-5 wks I was thinking it would never grow but now it's coming and I'm enjoying the process!

notbuyingit, you've mentioned it before I think. Tell us about it. The biggest question...does it smell oniony?

Thank you Lisa - I look exactly like you did!  I can only hope I look as good as you do when I'm at 3 months.  You are so encouraging to me!! :-)  What was your natural hair color before chemo? I am naturally a light to dishwater blonde, although my avatar shows dark brownish red - that's coloring.  I've actually gone back and looked at previous posts and have seen your progress.  I guess I am hair obsessed right now...lol!! I'm tired of wearing things on my head, especially when it's warm and humid out.  I have been using Nioxin 2 and taking biotin.

Lisa,  Thank you so much for posting the 4 weeks out and now the 3 months out pics!  What a huge difference!  I've still got 2 more Taxols to go, but cannot wait for real hair again.  This was SO encouraging.

Lisa congratulations on finishing the 5K.  If I saw you at a race, I would think edgy and cool hairstyle.

About the facial hair, mine never went away.  I could not take anymore so I had laser hair removal done.  I had it done once and it took care of the problem for a couple of years.  After that a few stragglers did appear again.  I had one electrolysis session and for now I am hair free at least in my face.

HollyHope at 4 weeks PFC it is probably the worst time, you are done with chemo and you want to see hair!   There is growth going on but you will not see it yet.  Just a few more weeks...

hollyhope, I was/(still am) hair obsessed also. That's why we find each other on this forum! I would look carefully and closely in the mirror many times a day to see if there was hair growing, from all angles...you probably know the drill. I did not start growing during chemo, only after stopping and the first 3 wks was basically nothing. Just this past week at 3 months PFC have I started going out without covering...and feeling pretty comfortable about it. It took me a looong time. My natural hair color was medium brown but started coloring my gray many years ago so I've lost track of how gray I was. I believe I was more than 50% gray pre chemo.  I also have naturally curly hair and I wore it curly. Good luck with your regrowth. Take pictures even if you feel you don't want to at this stage, it's helpful to see the change from week to week

Hello ladies,   Next week, I will be 1 year PFC.  Can't believe it, really.  I like my pixie haircut and have been maintaining it with a trim every 6 weeks since January, 2014.  I also noticed that my crown was thinner than before and the sides and back growing so fast and thick.  At the last haircut, my hairdresser commented on how many really short hairs were mixed within the crown, indicating that there was still growth happening even at this late time.  I wanted to share that so that if you are having problems with thinning, you know that it takes a good long while for some of your hair follicles to wake up and grow.

Really enjoy the pictures.  All of you are lovely!  MsP

When did all your hair fall out? I still have most of my hair even though I buzzed it to the quick. I start Taxol a week from Friday for four treatments. I see some shorties fall out, but not a lot. I feel like there is a looong hair road ahead.

MsPharoah - thanks for sharing.. It gives me hope that maybe my hair is still growing.. its been a year now since it started growing back -like you, I have kept it short and I am seeing a lot of thinning in the top front.. its upsetting but I see little short pieces and thought my hair was breaking -who knows, maybe its still growing back..

HomeMom. My hair started falling out 2 weeks after my first AC. I had already cut it short. When it started to fall out I buzzed it but it would stick in my head as it fell out so I shaved it with shaving cream and a BIC. Then it all started growing back around taxol#6. Not sure how much would have fallen out if I didn't BIC it

Jules I thought about shaving it, but I just wear a sleep cap and have this great pillow so it doesn't bother me to sleep. The hair that is there now doesn't hurt like my hair on top initially did. I was like you, it started to fall out after round two of AC so I buzzed it. The nurse at my MO's office said that they have seen a lot of people get "tuffs of hair" on Taxol.

    Fingers crossed!

For those of you just starting, don't forget that a plain old lint roller is great for getting those pesky hairs cleaned up off your head, not just your clothes & pillow.  I had cut my hair down to 1/2 " when it started falling.  Then I leaned over the bath tub & rolled my head at least twice a day when I was 'shedding'.

I used the attachment and vacuumed my pillow and bathtub daily when my hair was falling out. But one day we had this oddly warm day in October with 40-50 MPH winds. I had just cut my hair short knowing it was going to fall out. I remember 2 days prior the doorman told me how cute my hair looked…

Then I went for a powerwalk in the park that day. OMG  you should have seen the look on his face when I came back. See the wind took a lot of my hair. My part was now at least 1/2" wide. I wore headbands the next few days… but eventually the scarf had to go on.

That spring I'm sure some birds had some hairy nests ;)

I just had my very first dose of Chemo yesterday. Been told many times the past few weeks by Doctors and the like to cut it very very short. My hair is at my shoulders, and it is very thick.

I might have to share my hair with the birds here in my neighborhood! At least some one can use it once it is off my head. Would make for a comfy bird nest for sure. *S* PLUSH !

AJ62 I have thick hair too. You can see it here on the right (1 week before my BMX, 6 weeks before chemo). I cut is shorter because I knew it would be a mess when it fell out. They even thinned it so I could try on a wig. Wig was still big though. I have a lot of hair

Oddly enough I wear it even shorter than that sort cut now.

the first sign my hair was going, I threw a party that night and had my stylist shave me down in front of everyone .  I used it as a fund raiser for my local beast cancer org. ( I am now a board member).  We raised over $500.00 and it was empowering to do something positive with the enevitable!
