i was sooo excited to see my hair start growing - now it is getting longer on top & a little frizzier i guess - it doesn't want to stay down & it doesn't curl - sort of a crazy mohawk kinda of look - not quite sure what to do with it...>sigh< and i still wish i had left it silver/gray - i can see the roots are coming in that way...verrry slowly...
can i get some cheese with my whine??

Busomblues, yes that os the right way to take care of curly hair. Mine was curly prior and I learned not to brush it and not to wash everyday. Use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner and yes, leave a little conditioner in. I'm hoping mine comes back curly but straight would be a nice change. Always wanted straight hair
Funny how mine is coming in with a little curl on the top but the sides are pin straight and very fine and the hair lays so flat on my head. I wish mine would stick up, that way it may look like there is more of it and I could definitely do the spiky hair thing

if i brush it flat it stays that way for a while...i have a bad habit now of running my hand over my head - it's so softie

Pre-chemo, I always had a wild cowlick on the right side of my head.....now its on the left!

Hello,
Discovered hair chalks this weekend. My daughter had fun with my hair and I am now multicolored. I think they are the same as chalk pastel art crayons, just more vibrant colors. 24 colors cost $7.00 on amazon. They really stick to white or lighter colored hair, but also noticeable on her dark hair. Hair needs to be wet to apply. I just let it dry w/o spray or ironing to seal color. It washes out . Gonna try just one color , lets see what vibrant blue does for my hair.

notbuyingit, I too am always running my hand over my head, also so soft, kind of like a very soft stuffed animal. I dont have enough for gel yet and it is firmly laying flat, doesn't want to budge, like running your hand against the grain.

Bosumblues and naiviv, show pictures of your hair. Hair chalk, never heard of but I get how it would give you those colorful streaks I've seen in some of the young girls

Hi ladies, wanted to share this with y'all. I only have the barest fuzz on my head now, look very monk-like, but I have started going out in public topless none the less. I find that people are a little taken aback, but say nothing, and are mostly super nice
This is a HUGE step for me, as I was very self conscious about even going out in a scarf in the beginning, and I still look awful.....but decided to just go for it (mostly because it is SO HOT now). Can't explain how much of an achievement this is for me, I was very embarrassed at first, but I forced myself to do it and the more I go out the easier it gets.0 -

I'm so glad your colored turned out Bosum. What color did you do and what brand? Is it a wash out? Mines not long enough to do anything to yet, but just curious.

Hi ladies. I don't post very often, but I had a question. My last chemo was March 17. My eyebrows started coming back about 2 months later. I was pleasantly surprised that they were coming in nice and full. I hadn't really been paying too much attention to them, until yesterday. When I took off my sun glasses and looked in the rear view mirror I noticed that they were not the same shape. At closer inspection, it appears that they are thinning AGAIN! Really?????? Now I read that they can thin and fall out over and over again. This is heart breaking. I am already so self conscious about how I look. Now another hit to my ego. Has this happened to anyone else. I put Model Supplies rapid brow growth on as soon as I got home. It seemed to help when I first started growing them so maybe it will help them fill in again. UGGGGHHHH!0 -
Yes Mikesgirl this can happen. Usually hairs are staggered growth. Once hair reaches it's life it falls off then starts growing a new one in it's place.
After chemo they aren't as staggered and it takes a while for them to stagger again. So it can really be noticeable with eyebrows and lashes when they fall out at about the same time. But eventually it staggers again.

The chalk is hilarious and makes older people look, whisper and not say a word and the "younger" generation coming up and telling me how "rad" "marv" and asking me how I did it.
I'll do something again and take pics. I forgot to last time. Gonna try to just do my ends if I can.

Lisa - thanks for the Annie Lennox pict. I think I'll go for that or Jamie Lee Curtis if the waves allow me to keep it straight enough. So far about 1-1/2" of fur.

yes definitely, Jamie lee Curtis too. My hair won't stick up though. Flat to my head and also barely 1" now and so thin. I had curly hair before that would always be sticking up in all directions. Will channel Jamie or Annie

Lisa, you LOOK like Annie Lennox! You could be sisters! Your hair will grow easily into that style. Mine has grown in fine and curly and soft like fur. I have looked at hundreds of pictures online, trying to find a style for my new curly hair.Thanks for sharing your pictures, ladies. I have ditched the wig because it is just too HOT! I need inspiration.

Birdlady, I dont know if you've seen my before pictures. Here's one of me at my first chemo treatment. I had soft curly hair. (It was colored btw). How you handle curly hair makes all the difference in the world. I'm hoping for curly hair again as I liked it. I am enjoying the carefree hair now that doesn't look wild on a windy day. And I'm starting to embrace the white/silver, I just want it a little longer. My family loves my hair "short" like this, but I say that it is not a style yet, just a bald head that is starting to grow hair lol! Look up deborahanne on this board, she has a beautiful short curly hairstyle

busom, above is my hair before. Don't know what I'll get after. Look above a few posts and you'll see what I've got now. Hope yours comes in as you want. I know, when I finished chemo I thought it would start to grow as usual, like prior to chemo and that it would be much quicker. I thought I'd have much more hair by now. I'm going without any head covering for the past 2-3 wks. I was slow coming to terms with it but now it's ok. Ya maybe I'll have a real hairstyle by the fall(even if it's real short, at least looking like some kind of style)...maybe? That would bring me to 6 months PFC...only 13 wks now. Ok let's see a pictures, before and after...

did anyone else have a "pixie" cut when they were young? i remember my mom would put a piece of tape across my bangs & cut across the TOP of it! those were some short bangs

NotBuyingIt - funny coincidence - After I washed my hair this morning I thought about trying scotch tape to keep the very short sideburns from sticking straight out or curling up. I seem to remember scotch taping "spit curls".

I was wondering if anyone knew how long you are suppose to wait before dyeing your hair. I finished chemo March 26th and I have about an inch of hair (salt and pepper). Should I call my oncologist office to find out? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies

I have been lurking and not sure if I should post. I started a thread asking about my slow growing hair not realizing this one was so popular. This is my second diagnosis and last time my hair grew so fast. This time I'm 10 wks PFC and I have fuzz with my scalp shingling threw! It's making me insane. I can feel stubble all over but I don't understand why it's taking so long! I'm so discouraged. Plus it's so hot I wish I had the guts to go topless. Thanks for letting me rant.

Lisa, you do look like Annie. My husband and I were buying a car this week-end, and the salesman said "Has anyone ever told you you look like a certain actress?" I said no. He then said you look like Jamie Lee Curtis. I giggled and said, "It must be the hair." My husband kind of chuckled. He said, "No, it's the eyes and everything." Then I said, "The True Lies era right?"
Yeah he said,. Then he pulled up a picture of her. I don't think we look anything alike.

Kite - I'm sorry you're back here! I think I have seen your posts, just not sure what thread.
I am 6 1/2 weeks PFC and I'm finally really starting to see hair now. I still have no idea what color it's going to be. I'll post a new pic soon. It looks like a 5 o'clock shadow on my head lol. I went back to work this week and have been wearing my wig...not sure how long that's going to last. It's not the worst thing, but scarfs and hats are way more comfortable and I am not brave enough to go topless yet.

Thanks girls. HollyHope, I am 18 weeks out from my last chemo. Lisa, yes this is my own color. I haven't dyed it. My daughter was looking at me the other day and said it looked highlighted. Upon inspection, the tips are silver. It's the white fuzz that first came in. I'm glad I didn't buzz it off. It adds dimension0
