This probably sounds pretty crazy, but you could just go over your hairs with mascara and that will give the hair color.  When I first started getting some stray white ones in with my eyebrows I would do this and you never could tell that they had any color added to them the way you would with a pencil because it is only on the hair, not the skin.  I was messing around this weekend and did the same thing to the hairs left on my head and it was the same result, BUT I would not be using black if I actually did my head since I never had hair that dark to begin with, but my eyebrows were always very dark, about three or four shades darker than my hair..my mothers were like that also.  Anyway, just a thought.  If it leaves the hair stiff, you can run a brush over it.  It will come out when you wash your head.

Hi. I started to loose hair after my 2nd chemo.  within a week i shaved off my haed, which was very painful, emotionally.  I took 4 cycles of EC. Then i started Taxotere.  Within a cycle i started to loose my eyebrows and eyelashes.  Now i look like someone from Star Treak......hardly any facial hair.  Very much looking forward to the hair coming back.

Lisa - How long do extensions last?  How much hair do I have to have before I can get them?

I started the Nioxin follicle Booster 3 days ago.  I don't know if this is coinsidence or not, but I have had significant increase in dark (normal) color hair.  Everyone at work has even noticed.  I am 5 1/2 weeks PFC.  I have about 1/4 inch of tdark hair with some chemo hair mixed in.

Noda, that is great progress!  I am debating about whether to get the follicle booster or try the stuff that Lisa got.  Something's gotta get this hair moving!

Nodapearl, you need at least an inch of for the weave in kind and they last a long time.  For the glue on kind you don't need much (about 1/4 inch) hair, but the glue in does not last long.  One of the teacher's just told me about a new system called the Eyelet that you can use on a totaly bald head.  I will have to google it.  Elsa is spanish with a strong accent and I missed some of what she was saying.

Hair today gone tomorrow! Hi all just wanted to say that nothing going on here but I thopught maybe if I posted that something might happen. WAIT I think I can hear my hair growing. No its just my stomach expanding. Well at least my garden is growing and blooming beautifully. Hope everyone is OK.

Lisa I saw a post of yours. (Don't remember what thread) I have severe bone or muscle pain too. Mostly my lower back and hips. I think that it must either be from the Herceptin or menopause. Not sure but ouch huh? Its hard to even sleep. But what the heck I have a high pain tolerance. I just hope it goes away eventually and this is not the new and not improved me. I get out of a car after a long drive and Oh My God I look like a 100 year old. Jealous?

Lisa,,,,,,,,,,,,,for the hair thinning treatments that I get with accupuncture,,,,,,,,,,,,they put those lil needles in your scalp and its supposed to wake things up up there.  lol  I do see new lil hairs coming in,,,,,,,,,,,guess I wanted to look like a Chia Pet.  lol  But I suppose as long as they stay and new lil ones keep coming,,,,,,it might not be so bad.  I'm just impatient.  I have been done with my treatments for a while now I was thinking they would have all come back.  And maybe they never will,,,,,,,,,,,,,this sucks.

How much do extensions typically cost?  Then as the hair grows,,,,,,,,,do you have to have them replaced?  How often I wonder?

Lisa, let us know how the acupuncture works for hot flashes...I am very interested in that one.  Mine are getting worse.  I use to only have a couple during the day and most of them at night (of course, when I am trying to sleep), but lately they are getting more frequent during the day.....cant wait to hear to see if they work for you..good luck!  I dont have any length on my hair, but it is feeling in pretty good....my guy says that I am looking like GI Jane, lol!  I just want to look like the old me!

    Hi girls,

OMG   --  this sooooooo sucks  -  but of course we all have to be soooooo grateful for where we are right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am thankful and grateful, but I also am soooo selfish!!!   My hair is not growing in thick like most of you gals have attested to!!!     But, as my family keeps telling me, and trying to "assure" me it will  -   yeah right!  -  I  don't believe it   -  we all know our bodies and (in this case our heads of hair)   not gonna happen!!!!   Gotta (me) stop being so negative -  I am right now 'cancer free'   -  isn't that what I should be most thankful for??????   And, I truly am   -  but I am also a negative person   -  I WANT MY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maggie   -  have a great weekend girls   -  will be back on post soon!!!!!

Hi guys - I'm only 5 weeks PFC (love that) and still look like an ostrich but I'm also not really expecting much - I am looking forward to going topless but I don't think I'll truly be happy with my hair for a year so I'm just not paying much attention to it!  I really would like my eyebrows and lashes back - anyone using the Latrisse?

Terri42-I am using Latisse, however, its only been for the past three days, so no results yet.  I was having problems with dry, itchy eyes, and by new lashes were growing in crazy and irritating my eyes, so I had to wait to try it.

Hi all: I just noticed today that my eyelashes are coming back and my eyebrows are filling in! Yeah! 6 weeks PFC!

Anyone using Latisse, let me know if you think it is making a difference. Thanks! How much is it? I did see that my PS carries it.

Lisa: I am in the beauty industry too.... Laughing

Cinrae, depending on your geographical location, the quality of the hair extensions and the number of the hair extension, the price will vary greatly - $300 to $1000.

Bold, I am with ya on sitting too long - especially on a long car trip.  I am experiencing peripheral nueraopthy in my feet and it hurts like hell. The PN site says chemo can cause it.

I think I have turned a corner on the hair growth.  I was in the restroom at work yesterday and the light hit the mirror just right and I saw all these crazy funky hairs standing straight up!  I ran out to my co-workers and they agreed.  It is about darn time!

Good morning, everyone.  I finally picked up some Nixoin Follicle Booster.  Started using it 2 days ago, so don't see any major change yet - but my daughter, who was helping me on a photo shoot yesterday, took a good look in the bright sun and said I do have little sprouts coming in all over the place.  If they were only consistent enough to cover my scalp, I'd be thrilled with going "topless"!  Most alarming place is where the folliculitis was very bad - that is showing some sprouts but not as much and I'm trying not to be upset about it.  I also have been using the follicule booster on my brows - realized this morning pre-makeup that they are very sparse and the color seems to have gone from them, or all that remained were the gray ones and the dark ones went away.  It's that face that really looks like cancer patient!  Once the brows are filled in with pencil and powder, it's better.  Met with the social worker at my rads onc place and she wanted to know how I was doing.  I vented about my head - it's really the biggest thing about dealing with bc that is getting to me - I am on the verge sometimes of a real knockdown, dragout crying / depression jag that I pull myself out of before it begins.  I KNOW it will grow back, it's just something about the hair on our heads that makes us feel like women, even though we have "other parts" (some real, some manufactured, some waiting to get replaced . . .but you know what I mean!), dress like women, wear makeup, etc., it's just unnatural to be bald as a woman.  Anyhoo, I vented somewhat to her about my feelings and am doing better today.

Doesn't make me any less impatient though.  Grow, darn it, grow!!!

3 weeks and 3 days and my little bit of hair.  I gotta now go figure out why it's so small in the larger picture you can see my strays standing up.  Oh and I waited all this time to get my DH to take it and it looks no better than when I take it.

    Much Better :)

Blake - We are on the same time line.  I will be 6 weeks tomorrow, and my brows and lashes seem to be returning too!!!

Chelev - The worst part of this whole experience for me has been the hair loss.  The brows and lashes nearly drove me over the edge.  That's when I looked sick too.  I hate it.  Even now, some times I can look in the mirror and feel like I look OK, then others I wil catch a glimpse of myself and see how crappy I do look.  I think the white hairs in your brows mean the hair is actually coming back, so thats a good sign!!  With radiation, I can't wear my fake girls, so thats another thing that makes me look sick.  Will it never end????

I can't wait for brows and lashes!  I think my brows are still falling out and I have about 4 lashes on each eye LOL!

JamieH - you are too funny - I'm a couple of weeks ahead of you and I have some dark hair mixed in with the "ostrich" hair.

I need to take the time to figure out the picture thing - I'll ask my son - somehow kids know how to do this stuff...

I was just bad.  I just colored my hair with Loreal.  I'm going away and didn't want the gray.  Hey that rhymed.  The chemicals scare me, but a girls got to do what a girls got to do.

Jaimieh - nice to see  you again - need to go over to the Feb Furries group and post.

Beverly 11 - I am using the horse shampoo (Mane & Tail) along with Biotin.

I am 3 weeks PFC and I have WHITE hair coming in - it is probably about 1/16" of an inch right now.  Most of it is on the top of my head versus the sides by my ears.  A reverse male pattern baldness thing going on but then again it seems like I am wired ass backwards as far as what is going on with my body due to chemo.

I can't wait to get some hair that I can actually see.  My hair is so white that I can't see it in the mirror and yes....I check it daily but my friends who can get up close to my scalp can see it.

jancie, hang in there the duck fuzz goes away rather fast i have pictures of what comes in it looks like 5 oclock shadow at first then before you know it it is real hair thin at first then a month later your head is covered i just compaired the pictures from april 10 then may 20 and yesterday what a huge difference i couldn't see it myself because, i like you was looking at all the time to see if it grew and it did.  take some pictures now in 4 weeks and again in 3 weeks you will be amazed i had a friend come up behind me today and run her fingers thru my hair and she told me she loved it with all the soft curls i am begining to like it my self still short in the bangs which is normal it is the same length on top it just takes time for it to become bangs.  i just love having hair again.

Isn't it wonderful...hehe....  There is even more that you can't see in the picture.  I think I have decided that I'm not going to look at it for a while I am going to put a scarf on when I go near the mirror and wait a week.  It sounds crazy but maybe I'll see a difference then.
