LoriKG-I had my hair dyed by my hairdresser. It didn't cause me any problems. My hair is fine. Made me feel so much better once the sewer rat color was gone. I feel like my hair is going to like Kramers the longer it gets. Crazy waves and curls.

loriekg...hilarious about the Kramer picture! I was just telling my coworkers that I may get some of that spray on instant hair that they used to advertise on television for the men and I would build up my little bristles until I looked like Kramer!

sloan...as always, so beautiful! I have followed your hair pics from the start and have always looked forward to the next one you post.

by the way, i did go with a chocolate brown at first, no red, because I was afraid of ending up with orange hair. I subsequently dyed it dark auburn with no issues, but I have heard of people turning their hair orange. Eek

I have very thin hair, but even so, have had no problem coloring it with Clairol Natural Instincts (no ammonia). Color is much better than the sewer rat color that I, too, had! Winking

All of your hair pictures are so thick and lush! I am SO JEALOUS!!

Thanks everyone. For those of you in chemo or just finishing, I really really did not think my hair would be so full at 5 mo. Hang in there!! For me, the front snd top grew in last, and the crown is growing the slowest. At 4 mo, I was worried at how slowly it was growing, but now at 5 mo it's full and thick. I used baby shampoo up until this month. Good luck!

you give me hope Sloan. Mine feels like it is growing very slow. I am 6 weeks PFC today. Does anyone think the Tamoxifen slows growth

Hi there. I'm thinking maybe you meant to post this question in another forum, but here goes. I had five rounds of Taxotere and Carboplatin and 18 infusions of Herceptin. It wasn't a walk in the park, but it is very doable if you stay on top of side effects and report everything to your care team so they can get you the right drugs, etc. I worked full time, exercised, and kept three grandchildren (1,2 and 4 years old) two days a week. Just keep your mind and outlook as positive as you can. Pay attention to gut disturbances, rashes, pain in hands and feet, and butt issues. By butt issues, I mean do whatever is necessary to keep poop soft and regular. There are a lot of tips available once you know what treatments you are going to need.

And all of us here will hold your hand every step of the way, no question or concern is too small to discuss

Sloan15 your hair is so full for 5 months - looks amazing. I will have to try the Pomade - I need something to get the hair from sticking straight up because it is to short to lay flat.

DeeRatz I like the short cut on you and seems to be straight My fear is I will have a mix of straight, curly and frizz all at the same time. I can't wait until I can find a straightener that will work with really short hair. I am just about 4 months PFC and need some more growth to try and do anything with it.

Italychick You hair is so thick - I thought mine was thinning before BC so I am hoping it does not thin any more. Probably all the treatments I had done with it over the years. I am a mix of salt and pepper right now. I did muster up the strength to just go without hats and scarves and that is so much easier.

My daughters first wedding shower is in 3 weeks so I may try to get a trim that week and hopefully they can help me out so it looks better.

Love everyone's pictures and moving forward

I figured out yesterday by accident that hair oils put on my hair make it straighter. Mi got carried away, but the result was much straighter hair lol! Like Argan oil, etc.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate the holiday! I'm trying to keep myself out of my kiddo's candy stash. ;-)

I came into this thread the other day and wrote a looooong post, and then the site somehow ate it before it posted. :( I'm too lazy to try to replicate it, but did want to come in here and say: wow, there are some inspiring pictures here!!! Loriekg, Sloan, Italychick, DeeRatz, catlady44: you ladies all give me such follicular hope! :) And there are some seriously great-looking super-short 'dos in the house. You ladies all seem to have beautiful bone structure, which makes any length hair look great.

My stubble seems a little longer/fuller every day--but so frustratingly slow in the crown/front area. Still, my final chemo infusion was the last week of January, and I shaved the chemo regrowth off just a few weeks ago, so the amount of growth I'm seeing--at least on some parts of my noggin--have me feeling hopeful. Still a long way from feeling comfortable going hatless, but moving steadily in that direction. Which is good, 'cause the weather's getting warmer here and I'm getting tired of having a sweaty head!

    Happy Sunday, one and all.

ok, hair experiment number 5,000 lol. I washed my hair in the sink, put on conditioner and left it on for 10-15 minutes, then took my shower. My hair was way straighter by leaving the conditioner on a long time. I'm too lazy to leave it on long in the shower like that.

Still working up my nerve to get a first haircut, I'm afraid they will take too much off, and not understand how painful growing every 1/8th of an inch has been

Ha, Italy. A couple of weeks ago, I got as far as walking to within a block of the place where, in the past, I have gotten my hair cut. I could not make myself go any farther!

I've gotten curious about the whole Herceptin effect on the speed of hair growth. It's impossible to measure the speed of growth on my head, but I'm wondering if the hair on my legs grows faster toward the end of the three week Herceptin cycle. I've just finished week one and barely had to shave my legs after a week. Now we'll see if I feel I need to shave my legs more than that during weeks two and three.

I'm hoping for faster hair growth now. Last Herceptin was four weeks ago. Hair on my legs grows like crazy. And facial hair too, but not as bad as right after chemo ended.

So this morning after getting out of the shower, I was about to blow dry my hair, and I put my hands through it, and hair!!! So I guess I am thinning. I have been on Letrozole for 13 months now. This is the first time I have noticed hair on my hands. Not a lot, but enough that it concerns me. And its been 8 weeks since my last hair cut and it really doesn't seem to be any longer. Maybe a little. So is there anything that can be done for the thinning hair?

MDW1967-it will come. It seemed like it took forever to fill in completely. Once it starts growing it really kicks in. That's what I found anyway. I did get mine cut and colorec about 5 weeks ago. I got it cut really short to even everything out. I can't believe how much it has grown since then. I'm thinking I need to get another trim to even things out. It makes it easier to manage if you get it shaped instead of dealing with hair that is all different lengths. Good luck!

Italychick-Good luck with the haircut. Your hair is sure long.

Aga: When they ask where you got your haircut, you should tell them at the oncology ward. :)

My hair is growing but it just curls up more. I think it will be a full afro soon. We are on vacation in California so at least it's not humid. I had to take off the wig because the curly hair underneath is making it go nuts. Not sure what I will do when I get home.

Trvler - Use a round brush and blow dry the curl out. Then, I use a 1/2 inch flat iron to straighten it so it's not so puffy (and pomade, of course). I'll take a pic of how curly my hair is and show how I straighten it. It only takes a few min since it's so short. Some people love the curls. I've had curly hair my entire life, so of course I want to straighten my hair!

It is too short to blow it straight, even with a round brush. It is very thick and it just kind of sticks straight out. I found a smaller round brush but it is just too thick and curly, especially in the back.

DeeRatz: you were right! It is slowly, slowly starting to grow in a bit on my crown. It's much more sparse there, but there's definite hair coming in! I hope it really starts kicking into gear pretty soon. The hair on the back and sides is actually long enough to be called legitimate *hair* now vs. just heavy stubble. I feel like I'm starting to glimpse light at the end of the tunnel. :)

Trvler Oh, okay. I wrapped it when it was that short to keep it flat. I used a foaming wrap lotion and then flattened my hair down with wrap strips. Another lady on this site said she put a hat on to keep it down while it dried. Good luck.

Dee, italychick, and Sloan, I have hair envy of all of you. Just beautiful. I went for my first checkup with my mo today and got the ok to color my grey-brown pixie with permanent color. Best news ever at 16 weeks pfc. Here's me 2 weeks ago feeling pretty goodimage

Question? Do you think that the new hair that grows in will return to a less mousy shade in time? I see hints of my old colour but mostly it's just grey. Bleach

I've started leaving the conditioner on my hair for 10 minutes, then I put this John Masters oil on my hair, and then spray it with Argan oil hair spray, and it gets it to lay fairly straight. Everybody keeps saying oh your hair is cute, kind of like women used to make pin curls in the 40s. I never say anything, would like to say here, you take the pin curl hair then if you think it is so cute. But I think it is starting to lay straighter as it gets long because I have heavy hair, and the longer it gets, the more weights it has to it.

Still haven't cut it, waiting as long as I can.

Shopgal2...I have hair envy of you! I am 14 weeks PFC, my hair is about the same coloring as yours, but it is still much shorter and much thinner. Your hair looks so nice and thick. Mine is growing back with a permanent part right down the middle, just like all the years that I had worn it below the waist and parted in the middle. I mean, it literally is not growing hair in that part, so it looks so goofy that I just have to laugh when I look in the mirror
