All of you ladies look fantastic!!!

Veronica-You have a beautiful bald head. I was thankful that I had a nice shaped head as well. Good luck with the rest of your treatments! Soon this will be behind you.
Kimmer-you have lots of growth already. Your color is very nice as well. You are rockin it! Women are paying to have their hair dyed that color. Your hair is nice and straight too, I don't see any chemo curls at all.

Kim - what great growth for 14 weeks. I'm going to have to put Scott's Turf Builder on mine to get that much growth in three more weeks. Here's my crop at 11 weeks PFC

brithael: I am 18 weeks PFC and I have exactly the same amount of hair as you do, so I would say that you are doing well. Mine is also growing the very same way that yours is and looks to be the very same color! I think if it would just start getting a bit thicker, I would be happier with it.

This board is indeed awesome.

Veronica, I am impressed that your hair is rallying so well!
Kimmer, you look terrific! Your hair is coming in so nice and evenly. Like Dee said, no evidence of chemo curls. Fantastic!
Brit, I have not tried Turf Builder on my head, though have used "Miracle Gro" on my eyelashes - RevitaLash. Your hair looks about like mine did at 14 weeks. When I found myself envying John Kasich's nice, full hair, I knew I was bad off. Takes forever, but it fills in!

Kimmer just beautiful for 14 weeks. It really came in nice and thick.
I'm 20 weeks today and am actually starting to like my pixie. It is beginning to wave up esp in the back.

Kimmer very impressive for 14 weeks!
Brit, you and I have been on same schedule, I am 11 weeks tomorrow but yours is thicker than mine.
Looking good everyone, you all give me hope that my hair will someday look normal, or just less cancery

I've been absent from the boards for awhile since finishing chemo, having mx number two, and starting rads. I'm definitely struggling with this phase of treatment and the hair issue is finally really starting to freak me out. I shaved my head early in the process and actually had significant hair growth during taxol/taxotere (switched part way through). I am now more than 9 weeks pfc and have zero additional hair growing on the top of my head. I actually shaved my head again at 7 weeks because the male pattern baldness looked so bad, and it is not improving. I started just going out bald sometimes (doing hats the rest of the time), but I am starting to worry I will be in the small group with permanent hair loss. I guess I'm just looking for encouragement and some positive examples. Was anyone else nearly bald on the top of the head at 9 - 10 weeks pfc?

inSF,
My hair came back on the sides first, yes more or less bald on top. I can't remember when it filled in but it did. It was about 16 weeks when I colored my hair and felt comfortable going without a wig and wearing a hat. Have you tried bioten and shampoo like nioxin or the Sally Beauty generic Nutri-Ox. Hang in there, your hair will grow. MJS

I thought Taxotere was the one where your hair sometimes didn't come back?

inSF- I had taxotere and cytoxan. I am 7 weeks pfc and have hair growing back on sides and back, but very little hair on top and front. I also have two areas on the front that have no hair at all. I am getting nervous too. I have been taking biotin and using minoxidil. I will have to try the Nioxi shampoo next!

I am 4 weeks PFC and my head Is so itchy did anyone else have this problem. Hope it means it's growing

LOL Sheri! My scalp did the same thing, starting at about four weeks and it itched and itched for a couple of weeks. I knew that it meant that the little hairs were trying to pop through!

inSF - Mine looked like SouthernCharm's at 6-7 weeks. My hair returned much stronger/sooner in the back than front and crown and I worried about weird male-pattern baldness look.
Now at 13 weeks PFC, it's filling in everywhere. (The male-pattern areas are gray and thinner, but that was true pre-chemo.) I shared your worries at 6 weeks, but now go in public hat-free. You will be there soon!

Great photos and nice to see you MnLisa and Southern (friends from another thread)!!
My hair looks like your Southern - though a bit more grey. Not growing fast enough...sigh. Grateful to see it everyday but still sporting my wig for now. Still taking Biotin which makes my nails grow like crazy. Hope it's working on my hair, too but it's hard to know for sure. What's with the spotty baldness thing? Mine is slow to grow in the corners, if you know what I mean.

Hi pretty ladies. I just wanted to share my recently discovered highly effective way of making my hair grow back faster. I finished my taxol 5 weeks ago. I am continuing on herceptin and about to have surgery and radiation. My precious 3 & a half year old granddaughter loves me so much, and rubs my head with vitamin E oil every weekend and says "abra ca dabra! make my Nani's hair grow fast!" it works I tell ya! Good luck ladies, bless you all. ♡

This is me 5 weeks and 2 days PFC. It's still pretty fuzzy and there is a lot of white/grey junk. But I feel some legit stubble coming in. Patience is hard but this thread keeps me going!

youngBRCAgirl I am 7.5 weeks post TC and my hair looks a little like yours. The top has way less though. I wonder if the taxotere causes slower regrowth. I am trying every silly method and ingesting all types of vitamins, but my hair is not cooperating!

Here's what I have 4 months post chemo. More chemo starting Monday so sayonara again, hair:

Paulinek, I did taxotere as well. It does look like the AC folks have a little faster results. I'm doing EVERYTHING I can - gimmicky or not. Lavender oil on my head. Noxi shampoo. Hair, Skin and Nails supplement. Scalp massage. Girl I'd drink mud through a straw upside down if it got me my long locks back sooner!
PurpleMinion, I'm so sorry you're having to do chemo again. Screw cancer man.

YoungBRCAgal, we must have had final chemo at the same time (TC for me). My hair looks something like yours though yours seems a bit longer. I'm trying not to stress about it because it definitely is growing. Just slower than I'd like, of course.
The other day in Whole Foods an older lady asked me what I did to keep my hair so healthy and shiny. Usually when people compliment my "hair" I just say "thanks" but there was no way to do that here lol. I confessed it was a wig and she said she couldn't tell and I looked beautiful. Awwww .... Very sweet, but I still want my own hair back!

You ladies who have posted photos are doing great. Your stubble looks like it's going to fill in fine. 5+ years later and I still don't have that much hair. I think if you are going to have permanent baldness from Taxotere, you know pretty early on that things just aren't right. I think I knew at about 4 months, but kept being told to be patient, maybe I was a slow responder, etc., but I knew in my gut. You ladies look just fine!

Paxton I had TC too. I'm thinking the length is because I refused to trim that crazy white stuff that came in first haha. I prefer to go topless (it took me a couple weeks) and people tell me all the time they wish they had the guts to cut their hair off like me or that the bald look suits me. Most of the time I let them think I pulled a Sinead Oconnor and smile and wave "thanks!". You rock that wig sister!
DoubleWhammy that really sucks since the choice was made for you. Did anything start to come back at all or you stayed shiny/smooth the whole time? How many rounds?

Question:
Is the possible permanent baldness just for Taxatore or Taxol as well?
0 -
DoubleWhammy, I really feel for you. Were you warned at all? It's really nice of you to offer reassurance to others in this thread.
I *think* it is only Taxotere, not Taxol, that carries the risk of permanent hair loss, but I'm not sure.

There is a lawyer running a class action lawsuit for women who had permanent hair loss on Taxotere in case anyone is interested.

The first day I had chemo the oncology nurse went over the SE of both drugs. Taxotere has a rare SE of permanent hair loss. So I knew that possibility existed. I was more concerned about getting rid of the cancer. Since that is a known SE what is the suit about.
