I also have a weird thin spot on the top of my head. The rest is thick and curly so it's a challenge to style. I'm wondering if I should use some Rogaine on it. Has anyone here used a hair product like that? jDoes it help?
PurpleMinion - your hair is so cute! My hair also came in a color I didn't know how to describe. I have a Russian Blue cat and I pretty much looked like her with a lot of white painted on top! Thank goodness for hair dye!

How is everyone doing? I just wanted to share my excitement. Look how much it's grown in a week! Top left = 3.5 weeks PFC. Bottom left = 5 weeks PFC. Right is exactly ONE week later! Whatttt?

Good looking hair Young! I think the first few weeks don't really count, after the 6th week or so the hair seems to grow at a much faster rate, so you're off!

I am interested in the lawsuit. I was never told that there could be a risk of permanent hair loss. I had taxotere in 2006 and suffered whole body hair loss that never returned. I went back to all my doctors begging for help and not one ever mentioned taxotere as a possible cause. I am worried about the statute of limitations. Who are the lawyers?

Young that is great progress! I think you have more hair now than I did at 8 weeks. Awesome!!

To all who had TC (taxotere) so did I . My last chemo was Feb 5th 2015. I did not go without my wig until mid August 2015. My haircame in very slowly but it did come back. Very curly as in ringlets at first. But it's now back to my wavy full head of hair. The one thing I have noticed is my hair now grows very slowly. Not sure if it's due to the the hormonal drug.

Hi all!
I did Taxotere! I'm 10 weeks PFC and my hair is coming in with a vengence! It's coming in fast! I'm already having to shave my legs/armpits! I, too wasn't told that Taxotere could cause permanent hair loss. The first I heard of the hair loss was here on the discussion boards. But if I had problems with my hair coming back, I guess I would have to look at it as I could always buy hair...I can't buy another life!

Thanks purple and peachy!!!
Peachy- maybe it's because I'm doing biotin and lavender oil? Did you do anything similar?
I did taxotere as well and also was not informed of the permanent hair loss. I was actually the one that brought it up to my oncologist after the fact. However it was the best choice for me based on being TN and also had less chance of neuropathy with it which I was VERY concerned about. I also wasn't warned about cystitis until my 3rd round. So I'm praying I don't develop that like my mom did. Chemo sucks point blank period.

On monday, I will be 12 weeks pfc. I went without any head cover for the first time at work on friday. It was hot and I was over covering it up. Keep on growing! I did TC for chemo.

YoungBRCAgal, when I was looking at your hair pictures my husband glanced over at my iPad and asked, "is that you?" I think we finished TC at the same time. Friday was 6 weeks PFC for me. I feel pretty good about it--wish the temples were filling in, but everywhere else is as far as I can tell so hope they're just slow.
My left eyebrow seems to be missing some hair so I'm nervously waiting for them and the lashes to fall out completely.

Looking good Nebraska! You have a cute little pixie going now - you give me hope!
Paxton, that's so weird my 6 week mark was exactly on Friday morning too. And my left eyebrow is being a big fat jerk. Rightie has kept her shape and has just thinned out evenly. Leftie is falling out in patches and they are no longer symmetrical. I look like I'm constantly scrunching my eyebrows in contemplation haha! I've been using a brow pencil to make me feel better and people always say they're surprised my eyebrows didn't shed too. So it must be working

My brows and lashes are the only thing that did not completely come back after the chemo. Very sparse. But I won't complain as I can fix it with brow pencil and mascara.

Oh no... I hope that's not that case. I would hate to have a bald spot on my brow forever is that common with TC

YoungBRCAgal That's awesome! My last chemo is this Thursday (woohoo), I know it's going to be a while until I see hair again but I do hope that the warm summer sun will stimulate those follicles!

Lydia, Cody is correct in stating that a lot of the hair you find tangled in knots is just loose hair that has already fallen out and got caught in the rest of your hair. My dermatologist told me the same thing. Washing your hair will not make more come out. The hair that falls out is just destined to shed. Sure, you don't want to be pulling or tugging or yanking or shredding at your hair - you need to be gentle as you wash it and work out the tangles. There is a product called The Wet Brush that works wonders in untangling all types of hair, from fine to course. My stylist recommended using that over a wide-tooth comb because she said hair is weakest when wet. She said using a wide tooth comb puts more stress on it than using the Wet Brush.
And for you gals with troll hair :-) I guess I can completely finish blowing up the Penguin rules by admitting that I occasionally used a light conditioner on my hair to keep the frizzies down and give it some moisture. I have long hair. I did not apply it close to the roots but put it on the ends and maybe 4" up from the ends.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday. Hang in there - you will be finished before you know it!

my brows and lashes are sparse. No patches.

I was never "told" of the possibility of permanent hair loss with my Taxotere infusions either, however it is mentioned in all the literature I was given about my treatment, and in the possible rare side effects in my research before starting. It's rare, but it happens. I'm so sorry it has happened to anyone !

My eyelashes are sparse on one side and my eyebrows are sparse on the opposite side. It seems like one eyebrow is higher than the other too. BRCAgirl - is that what you mean by assymetrical? I know we all have assymetrical faces, but this eyebrow thing is a bit over the top. I'm just glad I have a good eyebrow pencil!

I was 12 weeks last Thursday. Nebraska yours looks a little more shaped and thicker than mine. I haven't had the nerve to go without any head covering at work yet. I don't know why but it's really hard for me.

Nebraska and myspaulding congrats on the 12 week growth. It looks like it is coming in nicely.

Nebraska and MVSpaulding, you are looking good! At six months pfc I thought I'd have more than two inches of hair, but since I don't I haven't gone out without my wig yet. Only to get the paper, and it gets thrown right at the garage door! I think I'll wait until I look less like Kramer and more like Elaine.

Here's my hair regrowth at 14 weeks PFC. Photo doesn't do it justice because it came in last / thinnest up front. (What looks like a male-pattern baldness area here is covered in thin, white hair.)
The hair is back is dark, thicker and longer. Husband clipped the scraggly ends at my nape today and neatened it.
I go out without any head covering (unless it's chilly enough for a cap) and ignore the stares. Feels so great to go hat-less!

You guys look great. Gives me hope. Only 3 weeks pfc and have lots of fuzz and strange pop up hairs. ugh.

Looking great, everyone!
Does anyone know why the sides and top are slower? My only area left that really still has nothing are my temples, so I'm glad the top is covered, but the back is definitely thicker

I have tiny, sparse eyelashes...no eyebrows. I do have hair on my head...so I can live with it. Getting eyebrow tattoos this summer

Paxton 29 that was my experience too. It was the reverse of the way I lost it. Lost top and front first then top and sides. I think it is very similar to the way male pattern baldness occurs, sides always hang on more. I'm assuming here that top is more sensitive or delicate in some way. Mine is back to normal after a year, except it still has a little curl. I wear my hair short and have had it cut and colored every 4 to 5 weeks since 6 months PFC. First few months just had it evened out as it was still shorter than normal. Yours will be great soon. MJS

MN LIsa and Southern Charm, how fun to have a haircut! Filling in nicely.
tjh, my sister in law didn't get her eyebrows back after Taxotere. She has blessedly little body hair to begin with, and says "I shave my legs once a week whether I need to or not!" She has gotten really good at penciling on eyebrows, and commented that she probably should have been using eyebrow pencil before she had cancer.

I feel like mine is growing really slow now. Or maybe it's that I've lost patience. Just really don't like the wig with the hot flashes I'm getting. And if I wear a hat or scarf all day I end up with a headache. If my sides and temple were thick enough to not see my scalp I would feel a little better about going without. I wish I was just brave and didn't care how it looks.

myspaulding question or anyone that can answer?
For surgery did you wear a cap, wig or bald? My surgery is 5/24 and was wondering?
