Peachy: I have the same issue. Tight curls. I have been having it blown out by a pro to make it better. I can't blow it even close to how they do and it lasts a few days because while on Tamoxifen, my hair has no oil at all anymore.

Hey Valstim I feel you on the new post chemo facial hair. Hopefully it falls out at some point? Also re: the brows and lashes. I attended one of those Look Good Feel Better workshops back in December and was told to expect your brows and lashes to come back, then start thinning again as they get on a staggered growing schedule. So don't worry!

Did any of you routinely shave the peach fuzz as it was coming in until your thicker hair started to return? I have four more weekly doses of taxol and started to look like a dandelion, so I shaved it to a peach!

I am four weeks PFC my hair is starting to grow back. I never lost all of my hair had some stubble. So far it is coming in white. I am hoping it comes back a little thinner. My hair was super thick before and everytime I went to the hairdresser I kept hearing wow your hair is so thick.

hanley50... My nails all developed dark spots and let go. I babied them along and they did grow out. They grew A LOT faster then my hair. I do take biotin twice a day.

TJH, by let go, do you mean lifted/fell out? ThT seems to be what is happening to mine. I read that it can take 4-6 months for them to grow back, twice that long for toenails. Ugh.

While still on taxol, I had weird fuzz so I buzzed my head down and now it's back growing in thick and dark. I had a lot of grey (i guess was coloring for 20 years) but now it's mostly black and no curl.

has anyone tried castor oil for encouraging hair growth? I read lots of good reviews on Amazon. I tried Rogaine but it makes my head itchy. Castor oil is also supposed to be good for regrowing eyebrows

I didn't try castor oil.  Have you tried Nioxin shampoo and conditioner.  Sally beauty supply has a generic version that is not too expensive.  Your scalp will tingle but I didn't have any itching.

Mine did not fall off. They stayed connected about 1/3 go they way out. I a babied them and kept them sort and they grew out. Yep....about months....My toe nails were ok. If you look back 10 or 15 pages I posted a picture of my nails at about 6-7 months PFC.

I am about 5-1/2 months out and my eyebrows seems to be thinning again as well as my eyeslashes. I literally have no lashes on the bottom right now. Has anyone had this happen? My hair is kind of a combo, straight on the sides and top but wavy in the back.

mvspaulding, my eyelashes thinned at about that time too! Last chemo was the first week of November and around April it happened. Now I'm noticing a few more lashes and brow hairs dropping than usual, four months later.

Akioli, your hair looks beautifully dark and straight! That is a very nice thickness for 15 weeks.

My last chemo treatment was April 25th, so 14 weeks ago. My hair seems to be growing back VERY slowly, especially compared to all the photos I see here! This is all I have...

    image

Anyone else have growth this slow? I haven't started Arimidex yet but that's coming and I'm afraid it will slow down things even more :(

    Hi Cris,

Here I am at 12 weeks. The second picture is at about 36 weeks. I wonder if it is the Herceptin? I notice those of us on it usually lag behind. I also didn't lose all of my hair until lie to 4th treatment and also wonder if it is due to the cycle of Hair growth. I was so discouraged I took pic every week just to see progress. Hope this helps.

    Hey ladies,

I meant to post this in THIS thread, since this is where everyone was talking about class action lawsuits. I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread. Sorry! Like I said, I usually spend more time reading than posting. Anyway, I came across some information about lawsuits that I felt I had to share. Hopefully, some of you find this helpful in making an informed decision about a Taxotere law suit.

A dear friend of mine works at a law firm in NYC. I asked her is it true that lawyers will end up pocketing most of the money if women were to file lawsuits against the manufacturers of Taxotere for permanent hair loss? It is not true.

My friend cleared up a few other things as well. I've decided to post them again in THIS thread to inform as many women as possible.

If anyone has been harmed by using Taxotere, the best thing to do is talk to a lawyer immediately.

This is not because lawyers are going to throw your name in with thousands of other women for a class action lawsuit. Class action lawsuits are not the default. In fact, lawyers often settle with big pharmaceutical companies, meaning individual injured parties make off with decent sums. Some lawyers charge you only if they win—and if you do win, they often take less than half of the financial reward. If you've been injured by any drug, you only have a set period of time to do something about it. Otherwise, the makers of that drug are not liable. Sometimes it's more beneficial to your case to sue in a state that isn't where you live. Only a lawyer can tell you the best way to build your case. My friend said that too often, people don't realise they can take legal action, and big name companies take advantage of this. The best way to make big pharma suffer is to cripple them financially—what ELSE would these unethical companies respond to?

She has told me that of all the firms she's worked for, the one in NYC knows best how to talk to women and fight on their behalf.

This is the NYC firm www.rheingoldlaw.com/Product-L... if you're curious, since I see lots of lawyer links on here anyway.

Really hope this helps some of you ladies.

Hi Ladies You all are looking good

I'm 15 weeks PFC and finally have no worries about my hair growing back. Yay. and it's coming in black with a little grey. I did cut off the 'chemo curls' I had very early on, and my hair seems to have really taken off since then. Will try and post a pic.

Thanks ladies for sharing all these pics. I think maybe I'm more anxious about the hair loss than any of the other side effects of my upcoming chemo. Probably because it is such an outward sign of what I'm facing - both to me and others.

Seeing all of your pics is a reminder to me that I'm not alone in this.

Fire heart, there are some super cute wigs out there, if you choose to go that way. I found a really cute one from Christie Brinkley. I was having lunch with my hair stylist and another friend one day and a lady stopped to ask me who cuts my hair!! :-D

Thanks for your input, LoveMyVisla. At this point I've picked up a hat and a cute scarf and have a few more items coming in the mail. My initial thought about a wig is that it's "not me". But I may change my mind. I'm glad that I at least will have some fashionable options to wear to work.

I think my big apprehension with a wig is how it will feel and if it will be secure enough on my head. I'm going to have to take a look around the forum and find a thread about that. Maybe I'll change my mind. It might be kind of fun to be able to pick out my look. It's not like I'd have to wear it every day.

I bought a gel band or "wig hugger" that fits around your head. It helps keep the wig on. You can also buy a cotton wig liner to help keep your wig clean.

fireheart43, I've been wearing my wig every day for almost a year now, and it has yet to fall off. It's adjustable with hooks and elastic straps on the inside, somewhat like a bra, and I wear a wig cap. I haven't even had a close call. Only when I'm getting in or out of the car and accidentally bump my head on the door frame does it get a little rearranged.

fireheart43 if you have a local ACS site you can call them, they offer a free wig and you can go there and try on different kinds. Also did to go to a look good feel better class, your get great makeup and tips on wigs and scarfs.

Hello ladies. Like some of you, I feel somewhat stressed about the hair loss deal. I managed to make it through the 12 week cycle of taxol with minimal side effects. I feel so lucky that I only experienced fatigue and some other minor symptoms. I have no complaints as I know many of you had a rough time. I am coming up on four weeks PFC and have had little to no hair regrowth. Curious about those of you who only did taxol and how much time on the average it took for you to see some regrowth. I did not loose all my hair, more left in the back than anywhere. I definitely have the beetle juice look going on (lol) and it is not pretty. Your feedback would be appreciated. Thinking about you all as we take this journey together.

I did 4 dose dense AC and 4 dose dense Taxols. I did not see any hair growth other than grey chemo curls which i buzzed off, until around 8 weeks pfc. i'm almost 16 weeks PFC and have a full head of covered straight hair. minimal grey mostly black and straight. Not an odd color either.
