Thank you. I went online for some solutions and I am going to try castor oil

coachvicky, shame on that nurse. They do go through stages of growing and falling out, but never coming back? Check the back pages of this thread, never heard never when it comes to lashes and brows. Maybe thinner etc.? Shame on her!!!

Coachvicky, ditto the shame on nurse! I lost clumps of lashes on the top and bottom but they grew back. I've only lost them once so far and am now 16 weeks PFC. I just stuck with eyeliner and the lashes grew back rather quickly. My brows are a little more iffy!

On the subject of lashes and brows--I remember reading somewhere that once they come out it only takes about 3 weeks for them to come back and that they will come back even if chemo is not done. I started losing my brows about 8 weeks of ago, early in my Taxol treatments. Lashes are very sparse now too. I finished chemo a week ago and there is absolutely no sign of any new growth on either lashes or brows. Thoughts anyone? The whole hair lost part of this has been the absolute worst part. I dread walking past a mirror anymore.

I wanted to thank EVERYONE for their posts about lash and brow loss. I am really a lot more hopeful these will come back!
My husband purchased castor oil yesterday and I used it last night on my lashes and brows. I will share what happens.
So much of this hair loss has been wonderful! Not sure if I will ever get use to shaving under my arms or legs if that hair comes back. I always had my Father's eyebrows and now, after chemo, they are very petite. I like the way brow hair fell out.
Thank you again.

Seq, my brows are still pretty sparse, but they were sparse prechemo. My lashes started coming back in about 3 weeks after they fell out.
My hair seems to be doing a little better. I'm to the point that I can run my fingers through it and feel it in my fingers. I just started the Nioxin treatments so I'll see if that helps.I can still see slivers of scalp in the front though so hope that thickens up. Funny thing, I looked at all the ingredients of Nioxin and there are at least two or three castor oils in them. I'd bought Jamaican Black Castor Oil and was putting it on at night.

Coach Vicky. I don't know why the nurse would have said that to you. Your eyelashed will grow back. You will find that they grow then thin from time to time but they'll eventually get back to normal

Dara--are you still using the black castor oil? I was using it every other day for the last 3 months after chemo. Now that chemo is done, I've been putting it on every night then washing out with the Nioxin products in the morning. I mostly just have thin, white sticking up fuzz all over my head. I'm starting to worry that it is going to stay that way and I won't get my color or any thickness back.

Seq, was just coming on here to ask about progress. I've switched to the Nioxin products including the Night Density lotion which has about 3 kinds of castor oil in it. Then I'm using the 3 products for thin hair. The night time lotion smells really nice and won't stain bed linens.
I'm now at a point where I have a mohawk! lol! My hair on top is about 1/2 inch long and the side about 3/4" but kinky curly. It's not the fuzzy wool anymore but feels more like regular hair. It's mostly dark, almost black, with a little gray speckled in.

My eyelashes/brows started growing in about 4 weeks PFC. I am now 10 weeks PFC with thick bushy brows and lashes. I am not wearing mascara. My hair is about an inch long. I wish my hair was brown like my lashes/brows.I used Brian Joseph lash and brow gel throughout chemo...it did not work.

Finished chemo on Nov 4 and didn't start to see hair growing back until mid-Jan. I was getting worried (thanks to the taxotere commercials) but my oncologist's nurse reassured me. She has been working for almost 40 years and can count on 1 hand the number of women that never got their hair back. I was whining to the nurse at the radiologist and she pointed to her head and said "this is what it looks like after a year". It really moved me that she would share that with me and we talked about life with no hair.
However, it is growing back BRIGHT white. I had been coloring it for so long there's no telling how much grey I had but I'm thinking it was quite a bit. My hair was very thick and curly and though now it is not long enough yet to curl it is pretty thick on top but thin on the sides. I'm thinking about dying it pink when it's a bit longer to celebrate then end of all this stuff. Can't wait until I have hair a few inches long!
My eyelashes have been kind of funky -- didn't fall out until maybe a month after chemo ended and now have grown back. They're not very long but at least I have them. My eyebrows have thinned (always were too think anyway). No hair on my legs yet -- hooray.
My eyes water constantly for about 6 weeks. They dried up when I started Reiki treatments. Not sure if that was the reason or if it was just time. The other annoying symptom I have is my fingernails are very discolored -- look like a french manicure gone bad. I really don't mind that but I've lost half of 2 nails so I'm using a nail strengthening nail polish hoping to keep the others on until they grow out.

Welcome Lucy, you and I are at about the same point with the same history on this journey! My hair is still super short, and only about 1/4" in some places, but is coming in almost black! It's so strange all the differences with hair and chemo! Mine is also growing back in every which way direction! I have to laugh when I try to brush it! Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Ladies,
Here are a couple of pics of my hair. I'm 23 weeks post chemo. I've had two trims to just clean up the edges of my hair. Trying to grow it out, obviously. It seems to be the same texture and color as before chemo.

Today is one year past final chemo! Just wanted to post pics of hair and tell everyone who is just finishing to hang in there. It's slow but it comes back.

Mvspaulding: You're hair looks great! Thanks so much for sharing! I have two more rounds of T/C. I'm cold capping, but my hair is thinning. Some days I think it would just be easier and less stressful to let it go! Not sure if I'll keep much with two more rounds. At least I know there is hope for hair in a year!

It's always so obvious who gets herceptin and who doesn't. My hair is growing nicely (10 months pfc) but it definitely won't be as long as yours at 1 year pfc mvspaulding. Your hair looks great!

Here's what my hair looks like about 4.5months from my last chemo treatment. I'm actually about to get it shaped and cleaned up tomorrow. I wish it would grow a little bit faster...however I'm just glad to have hair 😊

I guess this is progress. I shaved my legs today.
My last chemo was 5 December. I have Herceptin only now thru August 2017.

My hair is still pretty short but in a month or so when it is a bit longer I want to dye it pink. I've ordered some all-natural semi-perm hair color called IPOIRO. The plan is that I'll dye back to my preferred color (apparently my hair went all white during the years of coloring) after. It supposedly will wash out in a few washings. Has anyone else used it?
My hairdresser is totally against it but she's a pretty negative person and I think it would be a cool way to celebrate having the worst behind me.

38 week PFC (just over 9 months) and 3 Herceptin to go! Now to decide on how I really want to colour my hair!

Lucybug, go for the pink!
Thanks everyone, I use the Madison Reed hair color. It is less harsh and without all the bad chemicals.

Lucybug, go for the pink! Myspaulding, I've gone to the Madison Reed site and will be ordering some in about a month. I figure for now my hair is still so short that I wear a wig anyway so I might as well save the coloring for a bit.
Karen, your hair has grown in so think! I can only hope mine will do the same. I went back this morning and looked at pics I took of my hair along the way post chemo. It made me feel better to know that yes, my hair IS growing, just not as quickly as I'd like.

Dara B, when you decide to order from Madison Reed PM me because I can give you a discount code.
