The tips of my hair, especially on the sides are silver. so weird. I bought an herbal color and might try it next week. My hair is getting much darker, and curlier. It's just hard because where it goes in a different direction, it looks sparse. I still keep thinking it should be growing faster, but I'm finally noticing a difference.

is anyone else having this problem?

My hair is starting to grow in (8wks PFC) but I still plan to wear my wig for a while because it's got a long way to go. My natural hair line is lower than the wig. So particularly on the sides of my face I can already see the silver glittering out from the brunette wig. And also next to my ears. I assume I will also have this problem at the top of my forehead when that starts filling in.

I guess I could try a different wig but I'm not really feeling like going out and buying a new wig now that I'm hopefully growing my own hair back. It's not really long enough yet to color I don't think.

    Any ideas? Thanks

Hopefulyogi--I am also 8 weeks pfc and was having the same problem. My MO told me last week that I could color my hair anytime now as long as it was done by a professional and with a gentle color. I'm having that done next week. That should hide the grey. I'm stuck in my wig for quite some time yet too. I'm trying to visualize myself with a short hair style, which I've never had. Right now all I'm picturing is me looking like a little kid who tried to cut their own hair. I saw a young woman in Costco this morning who looked gorgeous in her short hair style. I could never look a tenth that good.

I was the queen of wig-wearing, and I definitely had this problem. Coloring helps, obviously.

But a couple of other fixes were helpful, too: I wore a wig cap (mine was made of nylon and had a texture like fishnet stockings) and tucked as much as possible underneath. The folks who sold me the wig also gave me a headband with a velcro closure in the back that I placed on my hairline, then put the wig on top. That sort of anchored things in place, and I could tuck the stray wisps back underneath.

Dianarose-that was the exact same pic that I had used for my hair goals. I have decided to keep my hair short. It is so easy. I always had long hair but I'm rocking the short hair. I have gone without my wig since about 13 weeks PFC. I got regular haircuts to keep the shape nice. Was way easier to grow it out when it was even and coloured.

Dee- I love your hair? You look fabulous. I can't wait. Did it come back that color . Mine is as white as snow . I am a redhead so will be coloring when it's long enough. I did my last round of the low dose A/C today and MO did warn me I might still lose the hair that has grown. I am going to stay in denial for now

Dianarose--that is the exact same style as the girl had that I saw in Costco today. It was so pretty on her. I'm afraid it wouldn't be on me though. I seriously feel like I'm stuck in this wig forever

seg24- I have about ten wigs and hate them all. I wear hats mostly and nothing when I am home or at family members houses.

Well, here's week 8 PFC. Not seeing much change lately. Coloring next week. Hopefully it will make a difference. I just want my hair back! We all do.

dianarose--I'll color it back to my natural color. Medium/dark brown--maybe a little auburn. The hair at my neckline is my natural color. The rest is mostly grey/light brown/white and every color but my own.

seq24- I have none of my natural color.Allwhite with some weird wirery black hairs. Let me know what brand of color you use.

Is anyone's hair coming in real curly?

I got a bag of dam steroids today. So dam tired but wide awake if that makes any sense 😳

Dianarose--I am having my hair stylist color my hair. She said she would be using a gentle oil based color that is good at covering grey since that's what most of mine is. I think it's silly that I'm spending money to get my hair colored when I am nowhere near being able to go without the wig but I just can't stand looking at all this grey anymore, and how weird will that look with the back being my natural color which is dark and the rest is all grey/white/very light brown. The color might even make individual hairs thicker. I was hoping to have some curls, but no such luck. The sides lay flat against my head and the top sticks straight up. I had very curly hair as a kid, but it's been stick straight ever since. My MO even told me it would come back curly but I'm not seeing it.

I know what you mean about the steroids! For the last 12 weeks of my chemo I never slept on a Friday night because of them. And it was strange for about 3 weeks after chemo was done that I still didn't sleep on Friday nights. I guess my body was programmed to the steroids.

My hair came back really really curly... there are pics posted earlier in this thread... my hair is about 6 inches long now, though hard to tell because it's still curly. I've had it coloured a few times and keep the ends trimmed but currently am undecided if I will keep it short or grow it out. Today I am 17 mos and one day PFC.

HopefulYogi - I had the same issue with the gray hair showing on the sides of my brunette wig. My hair lines are different too, so I'll probably be wearing my wig for another month (I'm 16 wks PFC). I found a temporary hair dye wand, like a mascara wand. I brush the temp dye on my temples before putting on my wig. I found it at my local Natural Grocers store. I just did a search and you can find similar products on Amazon.

SuprSurvivr - I will have to look for that dye wand. Could I sue it on my eyebrows, I wonder?

seq24 - Your hair is coming in fast now. Good for you! Mine is still mostly white and spiky. Way too short to color as well.

    Good Morning All!

I onc had a goal to be every color in the Clairol pallet. I just about made it before chemo. I've been able to sit on my hair, perm my hair, and do just about anything I wanted to it before chemo

And now that it isshort and buzzed with more black than gray (this is my first time with black hair), I don't think I'll ever go back to anything else. My husband loves shorthair and my friends tell me I can carry the short style off. I believe them. But mostly, I just love the ease of taking care of it.

I'm looking forward to the fuzzy new growth gone and my hair being thicker.

I guess this is a positive of the journey.

Hi Dianarose, thank you. It was curly before chemo but not like this. I kept it long and it would hang in long lose curls, and if i put it in a pony tail or braid, it would straighten quite easily. I find that it is starting to relax now under the weight of the hair. But it is much thinner than before Chemo, and I have two very thin patches on the Crown at the back.

Molliefish- I have hair envy lol. I started latisse today for my eye lashes. Days you will start to see results in three to four weeks and full results in 16 weeks. Hoping it works as the insurance wouldn't pay and. Cost me 98.00

Seq24, I'm surprised at how long your hair was one week PFC. I'm 10 days out, completely bald over much of my head and with the shortest of stubble, like a man at the end of the day, on the rest. I hated my wig because it looked horribly fake and gave me a headache and no way could I stand one in the weeks ahead as the weather gets warm.

VLH--I did not completely lose all of my hair during chemo and new hair started growing about Taxol #5 or 6. Most places are about an inch long now, very thin, fuzzy, and mostly grey. The top is in the worst shape. Most of my scalp still shows. I would love to get rid of the wig. I hate it so much, but because of my job I have to appear as much like my normal self as possible so I have to wear it daily. I don't forsee it will be filled in or long enough anytime soon so I could go without the wig. I have a feeling it's going to be a long summer.

Bravepoint - I think you could use it on brows, as it has good coverage and doesn't sweat off when I go to the gym. There are also pencil like temp dye things when I did my Amazon search.

ok, I'm officially bummed. Ive realized I'm losing my eyelashes again😖 They came back nicely and now I'm finding them all on my check and have lost at least 50%. I've heard several women voice the same problem. BC, the gift that keeps on giving! Ggrrrr

OMG your hair is gorgeous, it lays so nicely and you totally suit that style! You have the perfect face for it. I'm trying to lose some weight myself and really hope I can suit short hair. I've always had at least shoulder length hair because it better suited by chubby face and I kind of have my Dads big ears too LOL

Dara- it goes in cycles because we lost them all at once but it will soon get better and shed as we normally do.
