I'm 7 weeks PFC and my brow and eye lashes are in. Still pretty short for the lashes. Brow coming in thick, may need to do a trim soon.

Hair is all over but very short especially the front, i think will need another 2 more months to cover the scalp.

Oasis--I hear you on the brows. Mine came back a couple weeks ago and it seemed like it was overnight. They were very thick and getting bushy. I've had to take the tweezers after them a few times. I'm 8.5 weeks PFC.

My hair is about inch long in most places but pretty thin in many places. It came in with a LOT of grey. I cant stand looking at it anymore. I'm getting it colored this afternoon. I hope it grows at least another inch in the next 3 months. We just booked a beach vacation in June and I definitely do not have to be wearing a wig then.

Seq, have fun this afternoon. Let us know how it goes. I actually used a plant based color over the last weekend and it looks much better.

Seq24, I think your hair is coming along nicely, even if it's not looking the way you wish it did. I'd say plan that vacation! I would totally go out wigless with what you have right now. With sunscreen, of course

One other thing about wearing a wig after your hair grows back: I have always had long hair, and I kept the wig for a solid year PFC. When I finally gave it up, the hair up front, for about an inch back of my regular hairline, was sparser than I would have liked. My hairdresser said that some of that was due to the wig, and she thought it would fill in quickly. And she was right!

It took me about 2 years for the cycle of eyelash loss to finally regulate. Finally in year three they are back to normal. I read that eyelashes cycle about 3 weeks then fall out....before chemo that wasn't a problem because some were ahead of the others. Post chemo they all went at once. Lovely. Even lovlier....my onc said it had nothing to do with chemo. Ok sure. I used to wake up once a month wondering if my lashes were in that special mystical spot the missing dryer socks were. :)

P.S. If anyone knows exactly where that spot is please immediately send me a PM. :P

Thanks for that eyelash info. Mine are about 3/16" long today, but an almost invisible color. Maybe the next batch will be darker? I hate wearing mascara. I have (had) naturally white hair but my eyelashesand brows were brown. ☹️

9 weeks pfc. I had my hair (or what there is of it colored this week. I'm a little disappointed. I thought once the grey was covered less of my scalp would show. guess not. But the good news is that I finished treatment today! So glad to be done. Now we'll see how hormone therapy goes. Not too thrilled about that.

rainnyc--good thoughts that wearing a wig keeping the hair thin at the hairline. I'm experiencing the same thing. There is no way I will get rid of the wig just yet though. I barely have any hair. But I do keep it off as much as I can to allow my head to breathe.

Seq, but your hair does look so much thicker! I like that your hairdresser also trimmed up the hair line. I need to have that done also. And that plant-based color I put on.... didn't work, it's already washing out. What did your hairdresser use that was gentle enough?

Ok, so keep the faith going... my hair is still super short, I still can't go out without a wig, but at least it's beginning to fill in. I haven't had a trim or anything yet. Just hard because it sticks straight up in many places! Oh well.

I'm already 23 wks PFC! I feel a little better when I hear that for some women it takes a full year or more. I know I will be like that. My hair has always grown super slowly, but I feel better that at least it's filling in much better.

Dara--you look so cute! I love your hair!

My hair dresser used a Redken brand color. It is oil based and ammonia free. She called her supplier for a recommendation ahead of time and this is what they said to use. My hair is very soft and is back to my natural color. Mine sticks straight up on the top of my head. I just wish it would grow and fill in. Our vacation this summer is dependent on it.

Good Morning Everyone! I've never posted on this thread but I've been active in the January surgery group and the September Chemo group. It looks like everyone is progressing pretty much at the same rate. Dara, you've got a lot of growth! I'm 16 weeks PFC and this is how my hair looks (with daily applications of Rogaine, mind you)

    imageimage

seq24, my hair looked just like yours at 9 weeks. I just stopped leaving the house without my wig about a month ago. People are always saying that they love my "haircut". I reply "totally unintentional, lol".

Docmama--you look great! I can't wait until I can leave the house without a wig! We're taking a vacation in June. I will be about 20 weeks PFC by then. Definitely don't want a wig on vacation!

Docmama, just beautiful picture! I've been using Nioxin, but maybe I'll switch to Rogaine. Rogaine is actually what my dermatologist recommends. Have you had yours trimmed or do you blow it dry? Mine has gotten quite curly and wants to stick straight up. I am at the point where coming home from someplace in the car, I have to take the wig off. Doc, the color of your hair is so beautiful. Was that your natural color pre-bc? My SIL's hair turned that color when she was about 40 and it is so pretty!

Seq, I think you'll be OK by June. Even if it's not as long as you'd like, I bet you'll be just fine. I'll let you know if there's a difference with Rogaine.

Just a couple of thoughts about the Rogaine. My dermatologist also recommended that to me several years ago when he noticed my hair thinning. I was going to get some then decided to talk to my hair dresser first. She said that once you start on Rogaine you have to continue using it because once you stop the hair that came in while using it will fall out again. She also said that we should not color our hair if we are on Rogaine. She highly recommended Nioxin instead. My mom told me too that my dad had to take a medication with the same drug as is in the Rogaine. He grew a bunch of new hair but when he finished the drug it all fell out again.

    Dianarose, such beautiful curls and color! Cali had mentioned once that as we get older our hair seems to grow slower as well. I still have several spots where the hair is just about an inch long and I'm at 5 mo PFC. Did they use the same chemo on you this time around?Just sucks that you have to do this again! {Hug}

Very pretty. I'm about 3-1/2 months out now, and nothing remotely like that to look at. I'm starting to wonder whether it could be that the lingering anemia or whatever I've had could be slowing down the hair re-growth. I see some writeups referring to a possible connection there.

I was talking with one of the R.N.s today and mentioned it wasn't growing back very fast. She said, oh, that's ok it should be anytime as you're one or two months out, right? I said it had been since mid-December and she started giving me the fisheye lol. Wasn't quite sure what to say to me but I could see she considered me to be lagging in this respect. Probably time to ask my MO about it.

KB870- thanks for posting. I just finished my chemo last Thursday, I was wondering how long I would have to wait before seeing any hair growth. 5 weeks is good to see growth. That probably gives it time for some of the toxins to get out.

Too many lovely pics to post on them all individually. Beautiful on all counts!

My 5 o'clock shadow is getting more widespread and the little hairs practically not measurable yet but its dark to I'm actually super happy because I was a little panicked. Tip for unruly stand up hair. Last go around I found a teeny tiny straightner at Walmart and it did help control the top from standing straight up to attention when I had to go out. Used it sparingly though so not to damage it from too much heat

Great pic KB. When you can really begin to see the growth is it so encouraging!

I've switched to Rogaine every night. My dermatologist recommended it and someone else (DianaRose?) was also using it on this board. I'm still using Nioxin shampoo but figure it can't really hurt.

Yesterday went out to go to the art studio and it was so incredibly windy. I didn't think anything of it, but by afternoon had a killer sore throat, and this morning a stuffed up nose :-( Still not sure if it's allergies or sinus infection from wind. (Or possibly a cold shared by my darling grandson!)

Dara- I haven't used Rogaine because once you stop using it the hair that grew from it falls out. Can't go through that again

hi all -I am about four months post chemo( two months post radiation ) and receiving Herceptin. I lost about 90% of my hair on taxol and what I did not lose I had clipped very short as it looked little scraggly and scary. Reminded me of the guy in Lord of the rings.

I had shoulder length fairly thin straight blonde (colored) hair prior to chemo. This hair is very thick and curly. No problem – all I wanted was hair - I have no complaints after that!!! I vowed I would never complain about a bad hair day again. I just wanted a hair day!

The color is somewhere between light brown, gray and blonde. Seems a little less blonde and a little more gray each week imageDoes anyone know the rules or recommendations on coloring new hair

I don't post much on these boards, but have learned a lot from all of you. Plus, hearing about all of you and seeing your photos gave me tremendous courage. Thank you

Ohmigosh, MLMSC, your hair is so fabulously thick!

Today marks 3 weeks since my final Taxol. I'm very disappointed that the top of my head is still completely bald, I have some thin, straggly fuzzies above each ear, and the very short stubble on the back of my head is no longer or thicker than it was a month ago.
