    My hair starting coming in allot better as soon as I got the wig off and use a ball cap ladies its slow and I never knew it would be this slow but feel where there isn't any hair and maybe you can feel whiskers up there I do but its slow God is trying to teaching me patience something I need more of. I thought I would wake up and the hair would be back within a month.. I also use a massager on my head who knows if someone told me to stand upside naked for a day if it would work ha...

    Dawn...Either keep using the choc kiss because it builds up on your hair and turns more brown after a few times, or take that one back and exchange it for a darker color like jet black. I know it sounds dark, but those fanci-full rinses/mousse don't give you a lot of color. That is why i had said to experiment with them to find what you like. Good luck.

    Thanks for the tip, so if I put it on, just leave it and then apply again later and it might show up darker.  I really didn't like looking like an eggplant LOL!  I'll wait til next week when maybe I have a little more growth and then try a different color.  Thanks so much. HUGS, Dawn

    Okay, I'm seriously thinking about women's Rogaine this weekend.  Anyone have any experience with it?  I can live with the rest of the way it's growing in, but this male pattern baldness on top is not doing it for me.

    Dawn, you're so pretty, if anyone can pull off a purple head, it's you!

    I still startle myself when I walk by mirrors. But everyone at work has been so kind & supportive. A couple of people had no idea I had cancer or wore a wig, so there's sort of a newness to deal with on my part. Like I'm reliving the dx again.

    I spent an hour googling and printing out pictures of short ‘do's yesterday to take to my stylist. Even tho I'm not planning on getting a trim for many weeks yet. I just want her to know where I'm headed. No pun intended, hee!

    CHELEV - I've never used Rogaine, but I thought that you have to continue to use it or the hair that it has caused to grow will then fall out.  I'm not sure but thought I heard that somewhere.  Research before you do it as it might just be better to be patient and wait it out.  LOL Who am I to be telling someone to be patient.  Me with the eggplant head UGH!

    LISA - Thanks so much for the compliment! You're so nice to say that.  I'm not sure even the world is ready for me with a purple head! LOL  You look great, all your hair is so nice and dark and looks so even.  I wanna be like YOU!!!

    Watch your hairgrowth in other places... it made the hair on my chin grow faster instead of the hair on my head.  Someone suggested to me to use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner.  I'm trying it.  It makes my scalp tingle.  There are actually 3 seperate products but I only bought 2.  I found it at a salon at a super Wmart.

    just wanted to post on folliculitis.  when i lost my hair on taxanes, i developed a nasty acne-like rash on my bald head.  i read a lot of posts on this site, tried the clindamycin cream, which only seemed to irritate my rash, and was going nuts.  i finally decided to stop the cream and just use a cotton ball to apply hydrogen peroxide 3%.  not only did it feel amazing to have something cool on my super irritated head, but it cleared up the folliculitis beautifully and quickly.  so if anyone else is trying unsuccessfully to deal with this problem, you may want to give hydrogen peroxide a try.  i did it a few times a day for a few days, then switched to morning and night.  best of luck to all of you!  hugs!

    Dawn...Actaully, each time you wash it and reapply it, that is when it builds up on your hair and should look darker each time. I don't know what it would do if you reapply over top. I have been using fanci-full for years on clients and I prefer the rinse over the mousse.

    Chelev-I heard the same thing Dawn did about Rogaine-once you start, you can't stop or the new hair will fall out. 

    I am 8 weeks pfc-still wearing a baseball hat, but the hair is definitely trying to grow.  I went from white to black-definite 5:00 shadow on the doom!  I can't wail to get to Lisa's and Lainey's stage!  Patience, patience, patience...

    Getting my stitches out from my exchange surgery on Tuesday-I can't wait, because little pieces of the stitches are sticking out and catching on my shirts.  That little tug hurts!

    hey everyone..It looks like most of you are thru with Chemo and your hair is growing back..... I have a question....I started TCH x6 on July 15...I had cut my hair short but not buzzed, When I put on a ballcap you can see a little of it coming out from under my hat.... This past Thurs. sure enough my hair started coming out....I am shedding worse than my dogs LOL...this morning when I was taking a shower washing it I had fist full of hair.  Most of it is all coming out on top of head..so when I put my basball cap on you can't really tell I am loosing my hair.  This is my question does your hair stop coming out during all of this.  I mean does it come out for a few day or weeks or just continually come out like this the whole time during chemo?   Thanks

    New hair growing back curly like my teenage years but not th same,  Thin dry and frizzy.Help I look like a sick fuzz head.

    Okay slight exageration but still need help.

    SSIMMONS - My hair kept coming out for quite a few weeks until it eventually stopped (I had shaved it).  My daughter would use a sticky lint remover to get the stubble off.  Use a satin pillow case, that was more comfortable for me as my stubble would stick on the regular fabric.  I was left with a little stubble that I kept until it started growing back. 

    MUMAYAN - I look a little like Beetlejuice (do you remember that movie). It's frustrating but I think as you can see from some of the ladies who have posted pics, it eventually begins to look normal again.  At least it is hair, that's how I look at it.  I wish mine wasn't clear though.

    ROACHRP.....Oh thank you so much for this tip!  I have had bumps for almost three weeks and nothing seems to be helping.  Will try the hydrogen peroxide.  Patti

    ChristlC,

    I was thinking the same thing. I hate my curls. It is not flattering on me at all. I was thinking maybe I could put a curl relaxer on it, but I also don't want to damage my newly growing hair. My hair is only about 2 inches long, so maybe it would look even worse being straight and flat. I don't know which is better.

    I hear you!  I dont know what to do with this.  One girl told me that the curls will relax when it gets a little longer.    I have no idea what to do with it.

    I was told that it takes about a year and a half for the curls to relax. That's when your hair is long enough to pull the curl out. Aargh!! I can't wait that long.

    Ladies, how much growth did you have before the curls evidenced themselves?  How many weeks or months PFC were you?  I'm entering week #15 PFC and am seeing some crazy looking hairs on my sides - don't know if they are just rogue grays going wild or the start of my curly period.

    My curls were pretty evident at about 2 in of hair.  I am not sure how many weeks PFC I was.  I am 28 weeks out now and have had a TINY trim primarily on the sides.  I might have about 3 in.  I am also taking Herceptin which some say slow the growth.  I had some crazy hairs here and there and then the curls started!

    Hi all!

    I finished chemo Beginning of Feb 2008..continued with Herceptin untill Nov 2008. To this date my hair is about 6 inches. I thought I would have more by now.

    My hair growth speed really picked up after finishing Herceptin.Herceptin slowed it down, for me that is.

    My hair has grown back the same color, thank god! BUT......it came in curly. The curls have started to weigh down , but are still there.

    I have had extensions in my hair for almost 1 year, but I;m kind of scared what will be when I take them out.

    Before BC my hair wa staright and fine. Now...curly and thick.Ok...I'll take the thick but I have no idea how to tame curls.

    I hope I can learn from some of you.

    Chris - I was so hoping I wouldn't get curly hair.  I have a little more than 1/2" right now and my hair is straight.  I was thinking that maybe I got away from the chemo curls but after reading your post I realize that I could still get some of those curls. Yell

    I wanted curls and, as of yet, I don't have any.  I am 28 weeks PFC as of today.  I think maybe the Femara might be slowing my growth.  I might have about 1 1/2 inches of hair.  My avatar is me about 2 weeks ago.

    Just a positive note from me I went topless today :)  I gave myself until next week and then I was ditching the hat well this morning I decided that today was the day 11 weeks PFC and still with a little bit of scalp showing I ditched the hat.  It felt wonderful to not have to find a hat to wear.

    Way to go Jaimieh!  I want to ditch my wig soo bad..but every time I see myself in the mirror I still see a Martian!  Oh well..I still have my peach fuzz and maybe it has grown a little since I found it one week ago..my Dh says it is getting darker but I don't think so. 

    I HAD curly hair before I lost it all...I hated it..I always wanted it to be straight like everyone else's was.  I have had people tell me that it may come back straight, even more curly ..or RED! 

    Does anyone's eyebrows itch?  Mine have lately...not sure if this means they are all going to fall out or they are going to start coming back in....

    Forty-eight hours until I AM PFC....Yes!

    Jamieh - Way to go!!! Doesn't it feel great!  Weird, but great!  I still have scalp showing through the thin spots, but too bad!  Two people at work today have told me it has grown since last week - they both remarked on it separately, so maybe they are seeing more than I do or I am used to what it looks like.

    Titan - YES - you are ALMOST PFC!!!  Woo hooo!!

    Congrats to all the girls going topless, it is such a relief to finally get to that point. Feeling brave enough to do it. I know I was one of the vain ones, never ever went out without my wig, just not brave enough. So it is a great milestone to reach.

    Also to those who are done with treatment, or almost done, and beginning to see the hair come in. The only thing with that........IT DOESN'T COME FAST ENOUGH!

    5 months PFC is when I could really see the curls, but not long enough to style. So pretty much the only thing I could do was gel and go. It took until 8 months PFC, before I could actually style it. But by the end of the day, between the heat and hot flashes, it is back to its fuzzy/frizzie self. I am now 10 months PFC! .....and still curly!

    There is a gal here on the threads, she sells products for curly hair. She is in Canada though. Her website, www.ellenoire.com her name is Noelle, the product is Diva Curl. I have not tried it, therefore can not comment on it.

    Lexislove: how long was your hair before you had the extensions put it? How have they held up? I am serioiusly considering extensions, but I'm afraid I won't like them or that they will keep falling out.

    I think I am your mini-me!  I am 6 months PFC and have hair and still wearing my wig.  I just haven't gotten the courage to go without it.  Right now there is just NO styling it.  The curls are too tight and the hair is too short.  I have tried to style it and just do it but haven't yet.  I had a highlight to try to help and cut a tinsy cut.    My curls look like yours.  AND, like you, if I get hot (100 degree heat here and hot flashes) then it turns into a frizzie, puffy mess!!!  I hate even complaining about it because I am thankful to have it growing back in but I just dont know what to do with this.  I might try the Diva Curl.
