Hi all, where are you, is it just a busy weekend? Jo, it looks like it's you, me and o2b, my whole board of sites I visit regularly has been largely quiet, maybe Christmas shopping and decorating? I don't ever remember it being so quiet since I joined Hope we do hear from Dara, Karina and djfrro soon. Karen

I'm here. I have been really busy. I put up a tree last night. What a PITA. But even though I swore three years ago I woul dnever do a real tree again, I did it. I am dreading taking it down already.
Congrats, Jo, on remaining strong despite living with a smoker. You are one tough cookie. Karen, hang tough like Jo. I can honestly say that I haven't had a craving in months. So it does get better!

Hey Karen! It is absolutely crazy busy at work. I manage a 55+ mobile home/rv resort and are residents travel from the north and spend the winter here. They are arriving everyday. On top of that, my assistant manager's (Shirley) father passed away over the weekend and she will be going home to Ohio tomorrow morning and will not be back until Friday. She knew this was coming - he had a terminal illness. Shirley really did not have the funds to fly back so I did some shifting of monies and paid for her round trip ticket. She really needs to be home - she was close to her father and I just felt I needed to help her out. It does not bother me that I will be working alone - have done it in the past. All that matters is that she will be with family.
Where is Dara, Karina, djfrro & seaside? Hope you ladies are just busy.

Hi Jo, it is so caring of you to send Shirley home and pay for her tickets, somehow I knew you were that kind of a person!! Your week just got exponentially busier, what Seaside called "holy crap busy". No wonder you always alluded to this as being a time of high stress, your husband carries half the load I assume, I hope so, it is surely at least a 3, if not 4 person operation. It is proving to be a difficult time for me too. My parents died when I was in my 30's, I had only my godparents left, my godfather died 10 years later and I had only my godmother left, who was, I can't think of a superlative strong enough for the kind of person she was, she grew to be my best friend too, she passed away last March, all from cancer. This first Christmas without her has simply blind-sided me with grief, and I find myself missing those comfort cigarettes, but she was so proud of me when I quit, I am leaning on that and stay strong to see me through.. I will get through this, with support of our group, where is how group?. Thank you Barbara for seeing my need for the group. Hugs to all, Karen Thank you Seaside for your unwavering support.

I expect everyone is shopping. Just hit Macys myself - lingerie & bras marked down to $9.99 and today is another 25% off. Hope you "new" three are hanging in there with the holiday parties.

Hi all, wondering where everyone is, probably busy with Christmas shopping and decorating. Jo, that was so kind of you to take care of your ass't manager's ticket. The other sites I post on are equally quiet so I assume that all are busy. Please check in so we know how you are doing. This is a difficult time for me, I lost a godmother and a very dear friend, this is my first Christmas without her. The first anythings are always so hard. Karen

Must have been a very busy few days for everyone!!
Just got back into town about an hour ago.... I am now the VERY PROUD mom to a brand, new 2011 College Graduate!!! She was a dual major so received 2 Bachelor of Science degrees! I don't think I could possibly be prouder of her!
OMG, Michelle... when I logged in and saw your new photo, I had to look twice!! You look simply GORGEOUS!!
Barbara,
Funny, but we haven't had a real tree in 20 years (ever since the year the stand leaked and left a huge rust stain on the carpet!! This year, for some reason, I really wanted a real tree... Put it up last night.... It's still needs decorating, but smells so nice!
Jo,
That was really very generous of you! I'm sure that took a huge burden off of Shirley!, You have such a big heart! Hope thing ease up on you a bit at work....
MinusTwo,
Sounds like Macy's had some great deals! I find they tend to be fairly pricey at their regular price but their sales are really good! I'm running so far behind. Haven't really started my shopping but, will try to keep Amazon in business by doing a lot of it online!
Karen,
I just wish I could be there to give you a big hug in person.... I (we) are always here to lend an ear if you feel that talking about things will help! Please don't hesitate to PM me if you'd feel more comfortable.... Love and Hugs... my friend!0 -
Here is the long awaited new roll call that I promised.
I pretty much took the last list and updated it. As always, if you see yourself on the list and would prefer not to be, PM me or post and I will take you off! Same goes for if you don't see yourself and would like to be included....
I don't have dates for some of the newer 'quitters' and would hate to do the math wrong based on number of days and get someone's date wrong... Just post or PM and I will update the list!
I can't believe how much time has gone by!
Enjoy!!!

Hi all!!! I quit smoking using Wellbutrin October 16th, 2011......after smoking for 20 years.....this stuff REALLY works for me!!! I even "tried" to smoke the night before I was finding out my biospy results......(I know, very stupid) they tasted horrible..I smoked 3 of them and threw the rest away!!......I am so grateful for Wellbutrin because without it......after hearing I have breast cancer, I would have probably started right back up. I managed to quit cold turkey once for about a year......but knew this time I needed some help.........another great thing about this medicine is that it kinda curbs my appetite too so I haven't gained any weight!!! Yay me!!!.....I am SO VERY thankful for this medicine. I know how important it is for us to not smoke during this time on our lives........<3

Hi my dear friends. Sorry, I " was not in touch ". But it's time for a confession !!! I feel like I am letting you all and myself down so much, as I didn't resist the temptation while I was among smokers. I havent bought any cigs, but had a few last week / I know, I know / . Then back home I was ok without any. So strange, how I can not resist , when I see a pack somewhere... Please tell me I can still do it, I am so frustrated for getting week and I was doing so good....
Seaside, if I am still considered a quitter, my date is 18 November.

Karina, you can do it!! Just keep plugging a way one day at a time!!
Welcome Druanne!

Dear Karina, you had a moment of weakness, so did I when faced with a very stressful event, it was after I had quite a few weeks in. I had my friends around, drinking and smoking, and I had one cigarette. I was so disappointed with myself and failing the group that it never happened again. You know you can do it, just go day by day. I had to avoid putting myself in that situation for quite awhile. Karen

Karina Never quit quitting!! You can do it!!

Have you guys heard of "silkquit"...........it has a cool little counter you can download for free that keeps track of all your quitting smoking info like how long, how many cigs not smoked, how much money & life saved.........is free and FUN!! You press ctrl + and it adds it to your post
One month, two weeks, five days, 6 hours, 10 minutes and 54 seconds. 1256 cigarettes not smoked, saving $440.11. Life saved: 4 days, 8 hours, 40 minutes.

Druanne - Yes you can do it! I my DH still smokes as well as both my co-workers. Just take it one day at a time.0

Karinia: Confessions are good. Let the lapse go & keep moving forward. My girlfriend recently went to a class reunion out of town & found herself smoking after a year. Luckily she rededicated after that one night. The only reason I haven't smoked one (this time) is that I know I can't smoke "just one". The knowledge that I won't/can't stop with one has kept me yearning at times but not smoking for 4 years & 5 months. Look at that - I don't know the number of days & hours anymore. BTW - I can't stop with just one Cheeto either. Hang in there & keep that 11/18 date moving forward.

Karina - sorry I spelled your name wrong but the message is valid. Jan

Karina,
Of course you are still a quitter as long as you keep trying!! (edited to add: the previous sentence caused me to chuckle when I re -read it! No where else other than on this thread would it make sense...lol). As I have said many times, I think you learn far more about yourself in the 'struggle' than you do with your success (although that's pretty sweet, too).....
What happened was just a momentary slip... Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, think about what you learned from that slip and keep going!!
I will keep your date of November 18th when I update the list!!!
You WILL get there so long as you keep trying!0 -
Druanne,
Silknet is a good one and for those who don't want to download anything to their computer, quitnet.com is good too!!
When I made my list of reasons to quit, money saved was one of the big ones!! It is so inspiring to see those dollars add up!! Not to mention how many cigarettes we said 'No Thanks' to!!0 -
MinusTwo,
Lol, on the Cheetos.... Good analogy! For me it's Fritos... Can't even have them in the house!
I agree that what keeps me on the straight and narrow is that I know myself enough to know, I cannot be a casual smoker.... One will lead right back to my 1 - 2 packs a day in short order!!
I try to remember, One will be too many and a thousand will never be enough!! Alhough sometimes I feel a bit like 'I sure wish I could have just one', I know I don't want ALL the rest of them that will follow after that one!
I am enjoying all I can do because I quit smoking far more than I miss smoking! Don't regret my decision!!!0 -
Since this is the place to confess - here goes with one I have. Worked solo today - co worker had to fly home for her father's funeral. So busy I could not get out of the office for lunch. DH brought some for me. Super tired, feet hurt. Poured myself a glass of wine and guess what comes next. Had half a cig - got dizzy - put it out. I am at 4 months, 3 weeks and have every intention of keeping going with the quit. I still have the e-cig but for some reason, it was just not the same. I am not beating myself up. I know I can do this. I just wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening and all your support.

Jo,
Same advice goes for you!! Don't let a little slip derail you from how far you have come.... Take some time to really look at 'why' thst slip happened, learn from it and put some plans in place as to what you will do differently if you should find yourself in this position again!
Remember, quitting is not an event... It is a process!!!0
