Jo, wish I could meet you and all the other ladies in person, this distance thing is a pain. I have seen some of the parties you have thrown and I will expect a rowdy One year anniversary for me and for seaside, her quit date is right around mine. Drinks, delicious food and delicious servers. I think you already know my fondness for chocolate. The one year anniversary party we had for o2b put us all out of commision for awhile, I think that was the last biggie we had. Karina - good to see you posting, you sound like a sweetheart!!!!!! hugs to all, Karen

Bama, Merry Christmas to you and your family, it has been so nice to have another football fan to commiserate with. None of the future football games will be on TV, since the remaining games were not sold out. Hope the holidays are everything you wish for. love, Karen

Just wanted to take a moment tonight, in the 'calm before the storm' so to speak... To wish all of you a Merry Christmas!
We've all shared not only a serious illness and all that entails but, have also bonded together to help each other kick the smoking demon to the curb! A big pat on the back to all of us!!
To all who have quit and those who are thinking about it, I wish you a Blessed Christmas and a Joyous New Year!
Going to have my in-laws here for the next few days so, may not be able to log on much.. However, they both smoke so I may NEED to log on.... We'll see!
Love you all!

Truer words were never spoken! Been working on that message with my kids! Seeing glimmers that they are starting to get it this year.... There is hope yet!
Edited to add: oooppss I referenced the post you deleted... The message we have been working on with our kids is to appreciate the real meaning of the season... Your message that Christmas isn't about opening presents.. It's about opening your heart was spot on!!

Hi Ladies,
I am glad I found this..
DH and I are quitting at the first of the year. We have both tried quitting long before this and neither of us have made it longer than 3 weeks. I am hoping because we have the extra drive and need (my BC) this time that we will take it more seriously and actually beat it.
When we first started discussing it I had a minor panic attack, thinking of all times in my life I would "need" it, this would be it. I have changed my thinking, of all times in my life that I need to commit to being a quitter, this would be it.

Been a lurker here for quite a while, I have to admit.
I stopped smoking after my MX on Sept. 7th. Have to say, not because I wanted to, but I didn't know anyone that would hold it up to my mouth for me. It got easier and didn't think about it too much. Fast forward 3 months. Yes, 3 months, and when I started feelling like my old self again, I picked them up. I think I was having an identity crisis. No hair, butchered body, and known as "the one w/cancer". I just wanted to be me, and me smoked.
I have promised my son that rides me, that I will get an e-cig. So girls, my quit date is Jan. 1, 2012. I have to admit, I am not looking forward to it, but I AM going to do it.

stjude10 - We will all be here to support you in your effort.
I do use an e-cig and it does really help. You can start with one that has alot of nicotine and gradually work yourself down from there. The place where I got mine, the guy uses one as well and he recommends taking about 10 days and wean yourself off the regular cigs and on to the e-cig. My e-cig has no nicotine and I keep it around because I am in a high stress job during the winter months and this was the first year without cigs.
You can do this!!!!

Hi ladies, I had a good Christmas and hope all you did also.
Karen: I see your Bills beat Denver, which besides the Panthers (Cam Newton) is the only NFL team I really keep up with. My brother lives in Colorado Springs (40 mi. south of Denver), plus I like Tebow. Congrats, maybe things are turning around for them? My (Auburn's) last game of the year will be the bowl game New Year's Night, Chick-fil-a Bowl. I'm always so sad when football season is over

Dear Bama, I get sad too, don't know what to do with Sundays, no matter how I try cannot get intterested in basketball. I'll give it a try but hold no great hopes. The Bill's game was blocked out here, as there were so many unsold tickets. Will be able to watch this next game since they are playing away, it would be oh sooo nice to see a win. st.jude 10, I too used the ecig as Jo did, I started at 8mg, then down to 4, then off. Jo, started out with NONE, she is a tower of strength!!! You can do it, we will help through it. Karen
