Even though Sandy has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm, don't let your guard down.  The storm is still intense and is supposed to slow down once the eye makes landfall.  We have been through tropical storms and they can do just as much damage, sometimes even more than a hurricane.  Stay safe everyone that is dealing with this.

Bama, so glad you were L ing OL last night, it is certainly the best medicine there is, my cousin, Sam, can make me laugh till my stomach hurts, it always feels so good.  Don't know if Biotin shampoo is in my budget range - I'll have to check it out.  It has stopped raining for a while now, the wind is a bit higher though.  Weatherman here said we dodged a bullet - I hope he is right.  My grandkids are bummed, they figure they will have school tomorrow, but I doubt it, in the town most of the kids elementary to high school walk, I don't think they'll chance it.  I remember as a grade schooler listening to the radio after a snow storm and praying to  hear the sentance, "all Buffalo public and parochial schoo;s are closed".  Didn't happen very often, Buffalo is a great cleaner upper of a snow storm, lots of practice.

Welcome back Audrey. Sorry you lost the nipple! Darn it. Congratulations on being smoke free.

Glad things are ok for you Karen and you dodged the bullet.

Judi, it has been awhile now. I am so happy to have quit those things. I smelled smoke at close range and it literally made me nauseas to the point I wondered if I would puke. Wow huh? May be the early Tamoxifen SE's but good reinforcement.

Hi all, we are all safe and sound, did not lose power, the winds were essentially down to 20, with gusts to 30 by midnight.  The kids do not have school it is still raining and windy, we all slept in since we were up tll midnight watching all those poor people right in the storm's path, the scenes were unimagineable, so many have lost everything.  All of the WNY area's power trucks have been dispatched to the eastern shore.  As we have been helped in past snow storms by crews from as far away as the southern states, now is our turn to give back.  Thank you for all your prayers, I got post after post of this thread's concerns, I am indeed lucky to have such a strong group of friend's. love, Karen  JudyH - how did you fare?  All OK?

Hey Karen, glad you were safe.  I live north of Toronto and amazingly we were o.k.  Toronto got hit but nothing like New York.  However, listening to our news, you thought we were hit really hard like New York.  I can appreciate that we don't get "hurricanes", it's amazing that you hear people talk like this was the most devasting thing to happen ... probably is in their small lives.  But, I look at it that we could have been like the States, and thank my lucky stars that we were spared.  We had lots of rain and high winds, but it was downgraded to a tropical storm ... so for that, I'm thankful.  I'm also thankful Karen, that you and your family were safe.

Hi Karen!  Glad to hear all is well with you.  We fared very well - just lots of rain and heavy winds.  Still raining here today .... but at least it is bearable.  Unbelievable what mother nature can wreak havoc on!

JudiH, so glad to hear you are safe and sound, it certainly was a scary forecast when we first heard it.  It is supposed to continue with light showers today and a little stronger tomorrow, then the SUN is scheduled to make an appearance!!!

Yay for the sun!  It has been raining for 3 straight days.  I saw 2 trick or treaters out tonight.  It has been miserable/damp and it's time the remants of Sandy to move on!

It's so unfortunate that such storms causes such devasation/harm.

Bama, cngratulations on your win!!!!  I watched the Buffalo Bill's game until they were 2 touchdowns down, defense was terrible, then my granddaughter and I watched a teen movie, it was much less anxiety provoking!  Have a great time in Savannah, it's a beautiful southern city.

Bama, we clawed our way to the 15 yard line, our quarterback threw the game winning touchdown - directly to a New England Patriot.  We don't need a team to beat us, we do it to ourselves.  At least we kept the game score tight, it wasn't a blowout.  I may start putting it on for background noise.  Been pretty quiet here, how is everyone doing?  Karen

This thread has been pretty quiet.  Everyone must be doing well.  I, for one am finally done with recon.  Had a minor tweak to get done that left me with some residual pains.  Had to have a steriod injection that seems to have done the trick.  At this point, the only active treatment I am in is that stupid little white pill we call Tamoxifen.  I have 3 years, 2 months and 19 days but who is counting?  LOL!

Jo, congratulations on being done with reconstruction!!!!!!  That must just be a huge relief, I too, am on the same stupid little pill.  MO switched me from Arimidex after the knee joint pain stated affecting QOL, I walked like an invalid.  The Tamoxifen is a little easier on my knees but aren't those hot flashes fun, thought I was over and done with them.  So much fun to take a pill you have to take and bring those flashes back.

Jo: Same here with Aromasin. I started with Arimidex and changed over because of joint pain. I'm thankful to have a drug that helps, but I'm also counting down the days!

Karen: Love it. Sounds just like Auburn, except our third-string Freshman quarterback couldn't complete a pass even to the opposition! We play another 2nd tier team Saturday, so hopefully we'll squeeze out one more win to finish a whopping 3-8 season. And to think we were National Champs two years ago. Depressing. But I love my Tigers anyway. Big sigh.

I only managed one month on Arimidex. The pain was excruciating. Switched to Tami.  Have 2 yrs, 11 months and 20 days to go.  I've several anoying side effects but so far they are all managable.

Karen, I tried both Armidex and Femara.  With both I had too many stomach issues.  The Arimidex lasted 3 weeks - felt nauseaous everyday.  Same thing with Femara - with this one I was taking it at night and would be sick the next day - switched to morning and in just one morning I felt so disoriented I had to leave work.  Could not concentrate.  I really hate all these pills.  I don't have hot flashes on Tamoxifen - maybe a warm flush every now and then.  I was battling hair loss and nails splitting and I have great nails.  Started Biotin and it took care of that problem.  No joint pains at all.  What I really don't like is this pill keeps by liver enzymes up as well as my cholesterol numbers elevated.  I am fighting a losing battle there.  PCP is watching both close.

Jo, Karen and everyone else, hello!  Jo, I'm interested in your comment about Tamo keeping your cholestrol level up.  I've been on Letrozole (Femara) since day one and all the SE have subsided.  However, had my blood work done last week and now my family doctor wants to see me.  Go figure, had cancer and no one calls.  Had blood work done, and need to see me!  Anyways, I too am thinking she wants to see me because of elevated cholestrol.  So, I wondering if my drug is the same as tamo and maybe I too now have elevated high cholestrol. I've already decided I don't care .... it's one or the other and I'm on this drug as long as you are ... I started my drug Feb. 8 2011 so I think in 2013, I'll have three more years .... ugggh!  My next question is about the biotin ... is is pill?  I'm not allowed any herbal products.  I too have splittin nails .... hate it.

Judi - Biotin is a dietary supplement that is taken for hair, skin and nails.  My MO says it is perfectly save to take.  It is inexpensive and can be found in any drug store in the vitamin aisle.  I take 5000 mcgs every day and my hair is thicker in the back and grows like a weed - at least according the my hairdresser.

One of the side effects of Tamo is increased cholestrol levels.  It is still within safe numbers.  I don't know about doctors in Canada but in the US it seems they all want the total number 100 or below.  Last time mine was checked is was 176.  Still not bad.  The real concern should be the elevated liver levels.  Mine are up some but again not in the dangerous level.  All these drugs are absorbed through the liver and some are a bit harder on the liver than others.

Since I was not able to take Femara, I am not familiar with the side effects.  If you haven't researched this yourself on the internet, check to see this increased cholesterol is an SE.  Otherwise, I would encourage you to talk to the doctor that has prescribed Femara.

JudiH, biotin is a supplement, I got it at Walmart, made by Spring Valley, 5000 mcg, take 1 a day for hair thinning, takes about a month to see results.  I see Jo takes it for splitting nails too.  I am on Tamoxifen also, gotta take it, Arimadex left me lame, joint pain was unbearable.

Karen - I have pretty thick natural nails and Tamo was making them split.  Just pissed me off.  Also hated the thinning hair.  Biotin is a wonder supplement for me.  I also could not deal with Arimidex or Femara for that matter.

Thanks for the caution Day!  I absolutely hate "hair" on my face or body and it's my mission to have has little as possible except on my head.  I would go nuts and I go for electroylosis once a month.  It's take me a year but now have only a few blondies on my lip which I can see.  The beauty of eye sight .... can't see far, but boy can see up close .... every hair, wrinkle, and whatevery a 57 year old is supposed to get!
