Beckers....is it black or dark purple?  I have a broken blood vessel on my lip and the Dr said it was harmless but my oral surgeon removed it because it was in my lip.

Love wins, it felt like a round bead in there. When I look it was black so of course I jump to the worst conclusion.

i was scared too...the blood vessel was like a round bead...i believe because it was full of blood.  oral surgeron said like a vericose (sp) vein.

Oh no beckers. I hope you are getting it checked out ASAP for peace of mind. Fingers and toes crossed for you that it is nothing but an inconvenience. &&&

I got my ct results today. Sort of. It seems they forgot that that was what my appt was for and saw the NP instead of MO. She went overt instructions for switching to shots instead if Coumadin for surgery and was shooing me out the door when I had to remind her why I was really there. So she pulled it up in the computer and scanned through saying everything looked great. When I checked out, I asked for a copy. I read it while waiting to see the RO which is at the same center. I found on the last page it mentioned a 2.5 mm spot on my lung that was previously 4.2 mm. At the first ct they said it was nothing to worry about because it was so small and could be anything ans we wouls monitor it. I remember making a joke at that time that if it was smaller after chemo that would be a bad sign. I was very dismayed that the RO didn't even mention this. I know they don't want to cause stress but I like to be informed. The report also said a follow up ct should be scheduled soon if clinically suggested and "no definite evidence if metastatic disease". Last time it said metastatic disease not likely. I asked the RO to decipher it for me and he said it was nothing. That it was so small that it could be mismeasured. What?!? I know at this point worrying wont help and that the course if treatment would remain the same anyway, but I can't help it. Tired, scared, and sad.

Oh delirium. I am so sorry! Honestly, I went through that when a spot showed up on my chest xray before surgery. I had CT but never got copy of report. Now I think I would like to read it after hearing your story. Sorry you are going through this stress.

    Hi ladies!

I am still smoke free, coming up on my 4 month anniversary next week Surprised

I just made it through my first mammogram since diagnosis with flying colors and MAN, did I want to smoke the day before that appointment, but I could not in good conscience rationalize that one...lol

Good luck to all the newbies! Get VJ's book btw, it might help you. I found it very informative and helpful.

Thinking of all of you and Beckers, I know some people who could take care of the ass hole if you need me to...LOL (I am a tough old broad who grew up in an inner city, can you tell even though I look like the soccer Mom (or grandma these days..lol)

Hugs to all. HANG in there! If I can quit after 45+ years of smoking, anyone can! I promise. BTW, the e-cig is the best thing ever for me. I still vape daily and it works for me. I use one from www.greensmoke.com and it is easy and cheap. I don't rely on it as much anymore, but every once in a while (like you Beck!) I need to keep my sanity..LOL

    xoxo

April:  Congrats on 4 months.  Great news.  I was still counting the days at that time.

Lovewins:  Welcome and way to go.  Hang in there.

Wasn't there someone who used to keep track of our milestones?  Or maybe I'm dreaming?  Still thinking of Lisa.

Congrats on all who are trying to quit and stay quit!!

More incentive.....I went to doctor for bronchitis. She looked back and my oxygen has been running 95, 96%. She said if she did a work up they would probably find I have COPD due to my years of smoking. Wow!!!! At 47. (shaking my head)

Please try whatever it takes to quit.

Oh Beckers - hope that O2 report is temporary.  It's my understanding you gain more lung capacity back the longer you remain smoke free.  My doc said they can't tell I was a smoker from my lungs.  But of course there's my skin & wrinkles right out there for everyone to review.  Hmmm... Wonder if I could blame that on my grandpa's red hair?

Minus two, I sure hope it improves with time! I've been quit over a year so this goes to show it may take a lot of time. Dang it!! I hear ya on the wrinkles. I happen to know a plastic surgeon...:-/ May have to inquire.

Hello ladies, back from holidays.  Beautiful weather in British Columbia, Canada.  Only a speck of rain one morning and that is a rariety as it rains so much in B.C.  Had a good time and was able to secure some scarves that I've been trying for 2 years to get.  Imagine, got them on the ferry from Victoria to Vancouver.

Welcome to the new ladies.  You will see that whether we are in the throes of quitting or have quit, we are still there for one another.  April, congrats on your quit.  4 months is a milestone for you and it will only get bigger.  Remember when you thought you couldn't do it?  Stay around as it is good for the support for all of us.  Rebecca, can't believe that diagnosis .... we knew it would take a while to get our oxygen level back.  MinusTwo is so right about the time it takes.  In another ten we can probably run a marathon.  Plastic surgeon, eh?  Might look good while we are running!!

Hi ladies. Well I really thought if I could make it to surgery I would be home free. I didn't even think about smoking for weeks after port placement. I only had three the day before surgery. I was too nervous the morning of bmx to even think about it but sure enough. As soon as I woke up in recovery I wanted one. Darn it! I held out for five days then as soo as I had the chance went to the store for a pack. Told myself I would only have one or two. That was Friday night, smoking the last one if the pack now and then resolving to be stronger. I don't know what's wrong with me. I know I have more willpower than this! Congrats to everyone staying quit and thanks for the support!

Nicotine hijacks the survival instinct part of the brain--which is not stronger than our willpower or the thinking part of the brain. In a battle of willpower vs survival--survival always wins. Nicotine is a very powerful drug and the tobacco have manipulated the delivery of nicotine by smoking to be as strong as they can possible manipulate. There is a reason why so many people try to quit and relapse.

My offer of a free copy of my e-book is still open to anyone who would like a copy. I've added some new material, so if you hve one of the old copies, just let know if you'd like a newer version.

Hi Judi, I didn't get an official diagnosis of COPD, just the "I bet if we do a work up, blah, blah, blah." heavy sigh. That, plus this thing inside my lip add to my motivation to stay quit for sure.

Don't beat yourselves up love wins and delirium. Delirium, the worry too is that smoking interferes with healing. Glad you are doing ok. Good luck on your first smoke free days. Those are the worst and if you hang on long enough it will get better for sure! Good luck! Stay close!

So interesting about survival being stronger VJ. Makes sense why it's tough to quit like heroin.

Another little story for incentive. Recently I had a breathing scare after I began aromasin. I went to the ER and they could find nothing wrong after a chest x-ray and CT scan (betting it was due to rads myself) but they told me that I have the very beginnings of "emphesemic lung) in the pictures they took and that in the next several years, it would have progressed had I not quit. I could still end up with it, but my chances diminish with each month and year I stay quit. Sooooo, like NIKE says - Just DO IT! (hahhaha, if only it were that easy, eh? took me over 45 years!!!!!!!!!)

Two days ago, I hit month 5! Woo hooo!!!
