Beckers:  Won't do any good to complain with this darn BC.  I don't think it's as hard as quiting smoking.   For those of you still working on it - just for today !!

Oh MinusTwo, I too feel for you!  I didn't have chemo but I know people who did .... sucks doesn't it.  But remember, you are kicking "C" to the ground.  Hang in there and if you need anything, let me know.  I would be there in a flash.  Yes you are right about Lisa.  Wondering where she is?   Lisa, hope all is well with you.  I also thought of Shawntez and wondered where she is at.  Girls, hope all is well!

Scribbles, congrats on your quit.  I think most of us here are in the year plus range and keep plugging away so that it will be more every year!

Two years and 6 months out, and I want a smoke so bad today.  I even thought of going out to buy a pack, and could picture myself smoking it.  Whoa, so close!

judi, judi, judi - I'll have to wiggle my eyebrows at you.  (if that's not too arcane an image)  It never goes away does it?  Just easier to live with most of the time.  Good stop.

My mom left a pack of smokes behind on my patio last month when she visited.  I do not go out on the patio anymore because it is a trigger for me.  The other day my DH went out side and came back in with the pack of smokes he had found...man was that a huge temptation!!! My hubby put the pack on the fridge for my moms next visit but my kids found it  and destroyed it!  I love those kids :)

    Judi,

Sometimes those cravings come out of the blue and usually are triggered by a 'first'... A first time that you've done something where, in the past, you've smoked while doing it... Glad you saw it for what it was and didn't give in!

Michelle! So glad to hear from you!! And yes, I think our kids' generation have a zero tolerance for smoking and that's a good thing!

Minus .. Lol on the eyebrow wiggle.... I know of what you speak.. Have been on both the receiving and giving end of it! Hope you're feling well!

RE: the eyebrow wiggle.   I really thought it was Groucho Marx who said "Judy, Judy, Judy". And of course he had lots of brows to wiggle.  But google tells me the the 'quote' (with only a discrete raised eyebrow) is attributed to Cary Grant - only supposedly he really never said it.  So much for getting old.

Judi - just ONE word for you on smoking a cigarette...ok, well maybe two words. HELL NO! Are you crazy woman? Do you remember how hard it is to start over again? Calm down, breathe and eat some chocolate...lol

I am on day 70! If I can do this, you can stay quit. Hugs xoxoxoxox

Thanks for the words of encourgement and the laughs to go with it.  I could actually visualize the brow wriggle! Gary Grant, eh?  Tried picturing him doing it but was better with Grucho Marx.  April, day 70 is unbelievable .... you must be so happy and proud of yourself because we all are!  You know ladies, I have to tell you I was actually looking at the butts on the street and remembering when I threw my down to butt out.  That was my trigger and I was just wondering how they tasted.  Just now, I took a deep breath and blew it out.  I don't know why this has gotten hold of me just now but it's been on my mind.  I know I could never do it because I have an addictive personality and a dh who would throw me out of the house.  Well, today is CANADA DAY for me (really on Monday) so it's a long weekend.  Yay, yay, no work on Monday.  Weather today is iffy but supposed to be nice Sunday and Monday.  Going further north to look at houses ... going to downsize for retirement - might get there if I quit spending money.  Ladies, have a great weekend.  Oh I forgot my rudeness, MinusTwo, how are you doing?  Also, how is everyone else doing?

    Good morning all.

Judi, it's amazing how powerful the psyche is. Sometimes I don't even trust myself. How could two sides be at war within one person? Multiple personality?? Yikes! I'm getting too deep here. Ha! Just so glad you are still smoke free. They stink, taste awful, cost too much money. Good luck on house shopping. Sounds like fun!

    Day 70 April!!! Awesome!

    Lisa's, Braids, n Shawntez.....roll call...

Have a fun weekend. Hoping not to melt. 100+ here in California. :-/

Rebecca, love the mutiple personality - made me think of Sybil.  I saw on the news heat wave in the west and the temps.  100 F - I couldn't stand it.  I'm going to Vegas in Sept. and when I saw Death Valley at 110 F, I know why it is called them.  Stay cool, my friend!

LisaMarie:  So sorry to hear about the cancer returning.  Hopefully your docs have a good treatment plan in place.  Please know you can share or vent here any time - not just about BC or smoking.  We've missed you and will look forward to supporting you through your new ordeal.  Jan

MinusTwo I just found about about LisaMarie as well.  LisaMarie, I also echo MinusTwo's comments and who gives a damm about BC or smoking .... you are one of us.  We are all here for you despite the type of cancer.  An aquaintance of mine battled urterine cancer 24 years ago and beat all the odds the docs said she wouldn't beat.  Now, she is in charge of the Look Good program.  We are all just like her.  We are along for the ride on this one so please don't feel you are alone!

Lisamarie, when do you get results? I really don't miss my uterus. Feel like it was too much trouble at times! (Do miss my ovaries and estrogen tho...don't get me started.). Now.... Do you have anxiety? Hence the smoking I am sure. I really wish I could find a new coping tool. I had smokes, now food, some wine at times.... I wish I could be an exerciserholic!!! Or some weight loss SE's please!!! Gosh!

Stay close okay? We worry about you.

Anniversary time.  Six years today!!  Never thought I'd do it.  But the best part is all my friends remember my saying at the time that the first thing I'd do if I was diagnosed with a horrible disease was buy a pack of smokes.  Here I am 1/2 way through chemo for a recurrence/metastases and I'm still not smoking.

You all can do it. Just for today !!!

I'd love to meet but it will be next year before I can travel again.  San Diego is on my bullet list & I have a friend in Sun City, CA.  The train from Vancouver to Banff & Louise is on my bullet list if I can save enough money.

    MinusTwo,

    6 years is amazing! Congrats!!!

Was your cancer grade 3? Scary that DCIS went metastatic. Stage 0 to IV??? Yikes.

Beckers:  Thanks.  So far the MO is guessing from stage 0 to stage 2.  He won't be able to stage more accurately until they open me up again.  The grade is 3 but the kicker seems to be the HER2 positive reading.  Oh well - one foot in front of the other.

MinusTwo, congrats on your 6 year quit anniverary.  You are amazing!  As far as any meet and greet, we will wait until you are ready to rock and roll with us MinusTwo.  As far as the spot, we would need to save big time for the two you suggested.  That train ride from Ontario to Alberta & B.C. is big bucks.  But the clipper from Seattle to B.C. is relatively reasonable.  But we are far away from that ride now.  Let's get your health to #1 then we can talk.  You truly are amazing MinusTwo ... love it!

    Such an inspiring thread!

I've been smoking for over 30 years and never thought I'd quit, but... saw my BS this morning and she has recommended BMX with DIEP flap reconstruction at the same time but they will only do it if I stop smoking at least 2 weeks before the surgery. That gives me 10 days until my appointment with the PS (which will be two weeks before the surgery), so I'm calling that Quit Day. The week before, I'm going to cut down as much as I can while I'm away on vacation.

I will be looking in here often to take inspiration from all of your milestones!
